Error 8024402f on clean install Win8

My problem is simple:

I just did a clean reinstall of windows 8.

As soon as installation is complete, I ran Windows Update for the first time - he informed me that the Windows Update utility had to be updated - and method to install 3 updates KB2887535, KB2887536 and KB2887537.

From that moment, refuses to update windows update.  The result is always the error 8024402Fcode.

I tried a lot of ideas from what I've read in other posts:

-in the course of running windows update troubleshooting

-change of date / time / time zone

-change the update settings

-restarted several times

Nothing has worked.  I still receive windows update error code 8024402F.

If I uninstall updates 3 KB2887535, KB2887536 and KB2887537, so I'm back to point of departure... (windows update starts again and installs these 3 updates, then stops working).

I had this problem for 6 days.  Any idea what I could do?

Note that this version of windows installed and executed and updated very well last fall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I finally managed.

For the benefit of third parties, here's the history and the solution that I found:

-My old desktop running windows 8 64 required a re-install

-Support Windows 8 is finished.

-My windows 8 update has stopped working.

-My Office cannot be upgraded to windows 8.1 64, because its processor does not support CompareExchange 128

-The solution is to go to 8.1 32, which is a workaround. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to pass 8 64 windows Windows 8.1 32.

-In addition, for some reason any windows installer 8 refuses to download windows on all PCs that I use (it says it is not connected to the Internet).  Maybe a problem with the Microsoft server.  So:

-J' have re-installed windows 7 with my installation disc, this time using the 32-bit disc.  My product key seemed not to want to work - no problem, I just unplugged my internet pc during installation and he asked no windows after installing registry - I do it manually (I have 30 days to do so).

-Once installed, I reconnected to the internet and downloaded windows 8.1 to create media using the method described in the: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media.  My main problem was to download the correct version of windows 8.1, which corresponded with my version of 8 (that my product key corresponds to).   I downloaded 3 of them to finally find the right one.

-J' have created a DVD, rebooted the pc and proceeded to install windows 8.1

-When you are prompted for the key, I used those specified in http://www.eightforums.com/installation-setup/36199-dreaded-oem-clean-install.html (comment by clintlgm November 25, 2013) - this is a 8.1 generic key that allows you to postpone the registration of windows after installing

-Once the installation is finished, I put my 8.0 key product for register windows 8.1 help; http://tweaks.com/Windows/39026/change-Windows-product-key-after-install/ with the correct version of the 8.1 (corresponding to my product key 8.0 version) it worked fine.

And windows 8.1 now works perfectly on my old HP desktop, with the proper license!

Now Interestingly, windows update still gives me an error on 8.1.  I checked on my wife's computer, a Win10 latest i7 running, and windows update has the same.  Can I assume that the problem is temporary, on the side of Microsoft?

It took me 5 hours to arrive at this solution last night, but it was a success!  This means that I can continue to use my old office for a while and save money in new funds for more later!

Thanks again to all!

    Thanks for your help

The system uses something of a RAID configuration, because it doesn't have an Intel RST and a Smart Connect pilot.

The problem is that I don't have access to a copy non - OEM Windows 8 to test the manual installation of the driver Intel RST or Smart Connect method.

What is a stock Enterprise of Windows 8 version or a custom image for the company?  If it is a stock Enterprise installation, then the Windows Anytime Upgrade would be an option provided the OEM copy is always available and you know what is the product key.

However, you can try to extract the contents of the package driver to a USB flash drive and try to manually install one of the drivers (RST or Smart Connect) to see if it makes the configuration of disk HARD visible during the installation process.

    Intel driver for fast ignition

    Intel Smart Connect driver technology

    7-zip

    1. install and open 7-zip.

2 in 7 - zip, access both downloaded drivers linked above in the post.

    3. right click on each one and choose 7-zip > Archive open.

    4. extract the contents of each driver on an external USB drive.

    5. When you arrive at the selection of blank disc screen during installation of Windows 8, select the option to load drivers.

    6. go to the file Intel RST pilot which was extracted, select drivers and appropriate architecture (x 86 for 32-bit, x 64 for 64-bit).

    7. This can be a process of elimination.  Try each driver (in RST and Smart Connect) until you find one that works.

    8. when the appropriate driver has been installed, then the HARD drive should be visible.

    Let me know what happens.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline s3760in D: need help in Clean install Windows 10 pro 64-bit?

    Hello

For the past few months I am running windows 10 pro where I had to upgrade windows 8.1 pro 32 - bit windows 10 pro 32-bit. If my system is activated in windows 10 pro and it is authentic.

When I checked in the type of system, it says operating system 32-bit, x 64 processor.  4 GB RAM only 3.12 GB of RAM is usable.

This means that my processor supports 64-bit operating system. That's why I intend to clean windows install 10 pro and install the 64-bit version so that I can use all 4 GB of RAM.

That's why went into a tool for creating media and downloaded Mediacreation Toolx64 but when I try to launch the app it shows error "this app cant run on your pc. But Mediacreation tool for 32 bit gently. According to me, given that my current OS is 32-bit so mediacreation toolx64 is not running.

So I was wondering if I run 32-bit tool mediacreation and choose 'create multimedia installation for another pc' and chosen architecture (32-bit and 64-bit) times, then the clean installation of windows pro 10 OS will I have the option to choose between the version 64-bit and 32-bit version?

[2] already my windows 10 pro is active in 32-bit version, I get a product key error when I clean install 10 pro for the 64 bit version of windows?

[3] will be my windows 10 64-bit pro is activated? Since my windows 10 pro turned in a 32-bit version.

Microsoft memo said "Your PC will activate online automatically as long as the same edition of Windows 10 has been activated successfully on this PC using the free Windows 10 upgrade offer."

    HI Varadar,

You're right, you choose the installation program of the media creation tool that corresponds to your current system, but create a support for another PC and select 64-bit or both.  I would choose 64-bit.

Yes, what you plan should work.  Once you have upgraded to Windows 10 32 - bit and Windows checked 10 32 - bit is set, you can use Media Setup to switch to Windows 10 64 - bit.  But... I could ask you to wait a month.  It was reported on the sites a Updatefor Windows 10 is expected in November.  This update will include some changes and corrections that we have already published to our group of insiders test.  The recent blog post is hereand scroll to the bottom of reading on the Activation stuff.  We also wrote about the changes, including the news of your task in our own forum.

What do you think should work now today, if there is no problem or bug there is no backup.  But if you wait a bit, then the backup as explained will use your Windows 8.1 Pro key into your HP motherboard.

    I hope this helps,

    Charles

  • Clean install of Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit) error 8024402F

    * Edit - I've redirected to the Windows Update team.* network

After you perform a new installation of Windows 7 using the SP1 64 bit DVD, I get the error 8024402F.

I did this same setup on 2 computers last week and had the same error on both computers.
Things I've tried that don't work:
    • Tried to wear this laptop to my home network to install the updates
    • I tried to run the Microsoft Fix It tool
    • Automatic updates disabled with all the boxes
    • Changing DNS settings
    • Firewall disabled
    • TinyWall installed
    • Installed using .net 4 web install
    • Upgrade to IE9 using offline Installer
    • Tried to run a Bat file that disables and enables services
    • Delete / rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
    • System analysis tool
    Things to Note:
    • I am able to use Windows Update correctly on other computers very well. Just not those freshly installed SP1
    • Yes, I am able to connect and browse the internet
    • All the drivers seem to be working properly
    • I checked my router and nothing seems out of the ordinary

I don't know there is more that I don't remember.

I did this same process probably a hundred times without any problem using this DVD and goes directly from SP1 to install updates windows 100 +. Only in the last week or two, something has changed on the Windows Update site that doesn't allow me more start installing Windows updates since a disc newly formatted with W7SP1.
Were there changes in Windows updates in September/October? Is there a patch for this?

    SUCCESS!

Here's what I found out, see if it works for you as well.

Apparently, my ISP (mediacom) blocked the traffic for Windows Update. I installed a VPN client free to go around them and all updates installed. Now that the machine is updated, I have need the VPN client to the optional updates.

Since version original SP1 was not updated and managed Windows 7 32 bit, I can only assume that update server or the type of traffic for Windows 7 64 SP1 is different. I did not have a capture of packets, so I can't say with certainty.

    Hello

Often we see weird behavior as the result of a program of loading during the startup process.

To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.

The following article describes this process:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Please note that after refine us the cause, it is important that we return to a normal startup and manually delete the startup program.

We'll do this before uninstalling Service Pack 2.

  • Not able to install the HP software after a clean install of win7, hpbi and harddisk.dll error

    Hello

I bought a tm2 with win7 home x 64, my IT guy at the office have installed win7 ultimate x 64 and of course all the HP software was missing when I returned. Fortunately, they recorded the old files and I was able to locate the SwSetup folder and managed to install essential drivers.

However, I miss all the HP software, which means that I can no longer find it not in the SwSetup folder or it will not be installed. I found the HP Touch Smart 'something' Center (folderHPTSLC) but I get the error "hp\bin\hpbi" and I found the Recovery Manager win7 HP homepage, but I get the error "hardDisk.dll.

I am really a bit upset that I have to spend so much time to solve a simple problem, I have an intact recovery partition, a partition HP tools intact as well as all the files in the SwSetup folder, how can it be difficult?

I want the software I paid and so far, I spent several hours looking for a solution to a seemingly simple problem (just provide the software on your hp, or at least one that reinstalls the Sw from the hard drive to the HP computer if you fear that your software may be used on other HP computers...).

Can someone please provide me with is the solution to the problems mentioned above, a link to the HP Touch Center application work (although I have the files, he just moved there) or tell me how I can restart the installation of the HP software and driver that happens just after you have configured your win7?

    Thank you

I agree, our IT screwed up guy, they didn't even know the upgrade thing... :-/

In any case, I found a way to install the software I was looking for, just unzip to a folder and run the .msi file in the src folder.

Even if not all the applications had such a record, most of 'em had.

After playing with the sw a bit, I realized that I didn't like it anyway, boy I'm glad, I wasn't going to come home!

and btw, we bought a HP Mini and it was a nice little software, called AppInstl in his swsetup, actually just the sw file I was looking for. Of course the same thing happened with the Mini ('clean' installation), but with this app, that I managed to re - install all the sw I wanted without any problem, except QuickWeb, of course, but that seems to be a general problem.

Seems to me that HP has also seen the need for a "easy install your software after clean install" app.  :-)

Thanks for all your comments, my problem was solved!

  • Can I do a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on Vista Ultimate 32-bit upgrade. Installation file will not work. The error is described below.

The XPS 730 with Intel Q9450 computer yourself running Windows 7 64 bit? The details of performance show that it is capable of 64-bit. When I try to install Windows 7 pro 64-bit upgrade, the installer will not work. I get an error that reads:
The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows that you are running.

I'm currently running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Everything that I read on Microsoft and elsewhere says that you can go from Vista 32 bit to an operating system Windows 7 64-bit as long as you do the clean install. I'm that far away since I can't even run the installation.
Maybe nobody knows what could be the problem?

    Hi Hal K,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you run a 64-bit version of Windows, you can perform an upgrade to another 64-bit Windows version.

If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows, and vice versa, you will need to back up your files and then perform a custom of the version of Windows you want to install installation.

    Relax and breathe.

FIRST: Uninstall IE8 and IE7 if they are installed.  Back to all the way back to IE6.  You want other patches before you get those.  Reboot after doing this.

You are not the first to ask questions about how to upgrade a clean Windows XP - not even installation in the last week. In fact, I will just cut and paste my answer here... here:

Get SP2 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

    Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Get SP3 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

    Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Download at least Internet Explorer 7 (if it is not Internet Explorer 8).

    Install it.

    Reset.

Now, try to get the updates through the normal web page (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and see how much more you can get (100 +) and keep checking until you no longer have.

Back - let everyone know if it worked for you.
