Error loading appwiz.cpl__A dynamic initialization routine Link Library (DLL) failed

I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro, after doing the things in the update. I now do not have my icon 'Add Remove Programs' in Control Panel.

Also, I get the above error when I try to create a new shortcut.

Any help will be most appreciated

Hello

This problem may occur if the Appwiz.cpl or Setupx.dll file is missing or damaged.

I suggest to run the SFC (System File Checker) on the system analysis and check whether the problem is resolved. Follow the steps mentioned below.

a. Click Start, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator.

b. click on continue or provide administrator credentials if prompted.

c. in the type in the following command prompt window and press ENTER:

sfc/scannow

d. you should see the following message on the screen:

§ Begin the analysis of the system. This process will take time.

§ Beginning verification phase of system scan.

e. audit % complete.

f. once the scan is complete, a test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved or not.
