Error: Not a Winsock error

I'm trying to update a program which is a bit old, using its "web grab updater" when I do, I get the message:

Error: Not a Winsock error

is there a way to get this thing to update or a fix available?

Hello

What changes have been made on your computer before this problem?

What is the program that you are referring to here?

I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the program and then try to update. Since the issue is with a third-party program, I would recommend you to contact publishers and check what they have to say about this error message.

Let us know if this helps

    • Have tried resetting winsock.
    • No problem with wireless router - it works on other computers.

    Help!  How to fix it.

    Ice22Man,

To reset the Winsock settings automatically, click the fix it button or link. Click run in the file download dialog box and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard.

    Microsoft Fix it 50203

Note this wizard may be in English only; However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
Note if you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer with the problem.

To manually reset Winsock for Windows Vista, follow these steps:

    1. Click

type cmd in the Search box, right-click cmd.exe, click run as administrator, and press continue.

  • Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt and press ENTER.

Note If the command is typed correctly, you will receive an error message. Retype the command. When the command is executed successfully, a confirmation is displayed, followed by a new command prompt. Proceed to step 3.

  • Type exit and press ENTER.
  • For more information about resetting Winsock, see the following Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259

  • How can I "fix" a Winsock 10013 error? I'm not very computer savvy, but I'm willing to learn. Any help out there?

I have a dell inspiron 530 desktop w/Vista Basic.  My computer was recentlly reset caused by a virus and since then factory settings worked great; However, I see a Winsock 10013 Permission Denied error when I try to download on a site I've used for years.  Can I fix? Thank you peg

    Do a system restore.
Choose the date when your taskbar was prominently as your restore point:

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, click
    > Next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

  • Missing links after a Malware attack

    XP Pro, IE8, OE6

My old father-in-law of 94 is suspected of by clicking on a link in an email from "Solutions from PC" he received as bait the reader with 'If you can't read this email, click here', followed by the Pandemonium, then ends by "we can fix your computer for $79, just click here.  Fortunately, it has not executed this last step ($$). It won't just admit it. In any case...

MSE has completely failed me. I've since returned to Malwarebytes online malware protection. So to make a long story short... the office photo disappeared (only in blue BSOD), programs in the start folder Menu was completely empty (but because the programs were all still there in Program Files), administration tools and accessories were empty and the system restore didn't work. The malware "System Check" was bad. Malwarebytes would not work. I scanned with MSE and cleaned up the bad guys (AFTER infection :-(), deleted and reinstalled Malwarebytes and it ran, but the damage was done. I ran SDFix and it was clean and then displayed. Bringing more hidden links, but not all. System Restore worked now but I had to fire through the window RUN (no links anywhere). But the old restore files have apparently been corrupted and none would complement a restore (get about 1/2 way on the progress bar, then quickly complete 100% restart and then "unable to finish restoration".  Internet has never stopped working, if it's not the kicker. First time I had seen that happen with a coup of malware. Usually, at least a proxy is checked, if not a winsock problem.

Everything works now, but I'm missing a bunch of links again and I was wondering how to recover them, short of a repair installation. Adminstrative Tools is empty, both record programs and in the control panel. Many start/program Menu folders are still empty, entertainment is empty, Sytem Tools contains only the IE link (no add-on), and root C contains three records of recycler (recycler, recycle (2) and Recyler (3).) I don't know what these are, but they each contain a couple of folders that contain application files names you see in the registry as "S23984q32098u3948234" - I made this one.

Could / should I copy the links from my computer (both XP Pro) and hope this works if their paths are the same? Are there certain keys regsitry that I need to change/remove?

Any suggestion would be great. Thank you

Note the devices installed in the machine.  Use this information to download the latest version of the drivers and software for the manufacturer's Web site features (on another machine and store on an external support, I suppose, would be the only way for you to do.)

Uninstall the software/drivers for network devices.  Turn it back on.  Even if pilots are found/installed automatically, manually update the drivers & software using the files you downloaded earlier.

After being unable to solve the problems created by the McAfee download causing failure DComm and lost connectivity I uninstalled SP 3 and reinstalled.

I have a corrupted Winsock2 registry and auto config proxy TCP/IP keys and detect the proxy appear as 'not available '.

I tried to reset TCP/IP using netsh int ip reset c:\ reseting.txt and also the use of the patch tool.  The error code is the function IntHelper.dll in IPMONTR. DLL could start with error code 11003.

I am able to visual determine that the winsock keys are corrupted, as described in kb/811259. I tried to reset the winsock2 registry keys by using the netsh winsock reset command. The error code is the IntHelperDll function in IPMONR. DLL could start with error code 11003.

I would like any suggestions or ideas that anyone can have for the restoration of connectivity.

Oh, and I'm not going to use McAfee products in the future.

  • I am not able to connect on all sites with my system XP displays a 404 error code after a Trojan horse (trojan. ADH.2) was found and quarantined by norton.

Hello, I'm not able to get online at all sites with my system XP displays a 404 error code after a Trojan horse (trojan. ADH.2) was found and quarantined by norton. The system is slow or bottleneck at all, but I think that the registry has taken hostage by this Trojan horse. I tried to run Add ons, reset IE8, reinstall IE8 offline, I tried different users, tried to run a different browser (firefox). I can ping all the sites in the cmd prompt, but have no luck connection in the browser. A ran mohamed, superspyware, spybot. Is that what I can do without having to re install? I don't have the OS XP Media.

original title: error 404 on all sites

    I wouldn't worry IPSec.

I think the most important things to address are:
    1 search for rootkits.
    2 empty the DNS.
    3 reset the proxy settings.
4 reset the TCP/IP and Winsock settings.
    Good luck!
