Error of grouping of HP network adapters

After conversion of 2 HP DL360 G5 with NIC team I now get the error when you try to launch the below HP Network Configuration utility:

"An error has occurred due to invalid data in the xml file that is used by this application.  The XML file has been damaged and needs to be reinstalled from the installation media.

This has happened on both servers, up to now, I converted and although the lack of consolidation of network cards is not a huge problem, I fear that this is a code that do not have the conversion process a sweetness that it appeared and there may be more corrupted files hidden.

Anyone know if there is a known issue?

I am using Stand Alone Converter 4.3

Thank you very much

Hello

Hello from the Canada

After the P2V conversion, you MUST remove all agents of the material of the Virtual Machine that includes the consolidation of NIC from HP, it will not work properly

on your VM and it can cause a lot of weird problems

As you can see on this Ko under the section of "Tasks to perform after that conversion is complete" http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1004588

Tasks to perform after that conversion is complete

After the conversion is completed:

  1. Check the settings of virtual hardware:

    • Adjust the number of virtual network adapters. If you need customize the host name or IP address, leave all network cards present but disconnected.
    • Remove all devices useless such as USB controllers (if you are running on ESX), COM ports, or floppy drive

  2. Start the virtual machine Mode without failure. For more information, see start a guest operating system Windows in SafeMode (1004011).
  3. Click on Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs.  Remove all unnecessary programs used to install or support device, drivers such a RAID, network software of grouping or management, software management of wireless card management tools and drivers audio and video. Do not restart if you are prompted by an uninstall program.
  4. Restart the virtual machine in Normal mode.
  5. Remove additional devices or device drivers that have been used in support of hardware on the physical server. Use the Device Manager or control panel, depending on the version of Windows to remove unnecessary devices. It may also be necessary to view the event log to clear the messages failed rest device startup.
  6. VMware recommends changing the HAL in the uniprocessor virtual machine if the source server is configured with an abstraction layer multi-CPU hardware (HAL), and the destination virtual machine is configured to use a single processor. For more information, see modification of the Abstraction Layer HAL for a Windows virtual machine (1003978).
  7. Install VMware Tools and reboot if you are prompted.
  8. If necessary, customize the identity of the virtual machine. VMware recommends using the Microsoft Sysprep utility to achieve this, however, it can also be achieved by manually changing the host name, IP address, and any other record of unique identification. For more information, see How to use Sysprep: An Introduction http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457073.aspx.
  9. If the System Configuration Utility (msconfig) has been used before the conversion, select Normal startup switch to return to a normal boot configuration. For more information, see using the Windows System Configuration utility (1004010).
  10. Apply any previously deleted static parameters IP address, as requires it.
  11. Reconnect any disconnected NIC virtual, as required.

  • Grouping of active/active network adapters

I have configured the two physical network adapters on ESX 4.1 as active/active and they are connected to a NIC in each switch.

That way I have more flow?

How ESX handles the traffic in the pool of active/active NETWORK adapters?

As I understand it, (even once that caveat, not a network) you cannot extend a vswitch on switch ports without a violation of the spanning tree protocols that disables anything but a port UNLESS your links aggregation switches battery cross. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.

You are right. There is some confusion of terms only.

There is a network standard called 802.3ad (working group name) or 802.1AX (real name now, but the name sticks around the working group.) This explains how two units may group several links together and logically to treat them as one. On Cisco switches, this is called an 'association' on the HP Procurve switches, this is called a 'trunk', and on most servers, this is called a "NIC team." On ESX, it is called "IP hash.

Both parties must be configured to do so, otherwise the same MAC address is displayed both on different ports and this would cause various problems, including trouble of Spanning Tree, but also other things.

The 802.3ad has two modes, a static configuration, or dynamics of the aggregation of links. The static method is quite simple, the two sides should only be configured manually. When you use dynamic a certain protocol called LACP is used to negotiate it. Cisco also has its own propertiary Protocol PaGP that does the same thing.

The host ESX/ESXi only has support for aggregation of static links, so this must also be set on the side of the physical switch.

The 802.3ad/802.1AX does not specify HOW loads should be balanced across the available links. It is up to the different units to decide and it could very well be different on two sides of it without problem.

Various switches (physics and also the Vmware vSwitch) uses a method that includes IP addresses in the source and the destination to choose a NIC out this load balancing works well and is quite simple to do, but the boundaries a session between two periods of investigation to a single network adapter. If the connection fails, it will go to another.

Some switches have the possibiliy to use more advanced algorithms to do this, including for example src/dst IP and also the TCP port numbers. It is more "expensive" to do what the package should be inspected deeper and also cause more general CPU, but will allow the load between two IP hosts use multiple network interface cards. It is not supported on the standard vSwitch or the distributed switch, but on the 3rd party Nexus 1000v.

However, all methods is the aggregation of links, some differences in how to place images on the network adapters.

As for using two different physical switches standard does not allow this. Aggregated links must begin and end between the two groups. However, several switch suppliers (for example, Cisco and HP) formed their own solutions for this, called stacked Switch Etherchannel or Trunking distributed for example.

IF you have these switches with this function and if set up correctly on the side of the switch, you can for example set four vmnic "hash IP" on your ESX/ESXi and connect these two physical switches. This would probably be the best combination of fault tolerance and load balancing.

  • No error network adapters installing ESX 4.1 at the current Summit ESX

I'm trying to install the server ESX 4.1 in one of my virtual machines created in the current ESX 4.1 box.  The installation failed because no network adapters have been detected.  Anyone know how to put in place or find a network adapter inside a virtual machine running on an ESX Server?

That explains it. ESXi does not support these virtual network adapters. Configure the virtual machine with the E1000 NICs and it should work.

  • Grouping of NETWORK adapters and NLB on ESXi 3.5

I want to get ESXi to load balance the traffic to my NFS storage, but have had no success. My test set up is the following:

    • Two blades each with two physical network adapters dedicated to the ESXi for NFS kernel ports

    • Two switches

    • A NETWORK adapter on each blade is connected to each switch - it isn't an Etherchannel or trunking configured

    • Two NFS devices on a different IP address

    • Eight virtual machines on each blade, four to connect to a data store on each device of NFS

    • ESXi NIC teaming across two network cards with the option "route based on the virtual origin of switch port code.

My understanding is that each virtual computer must use one of the network cards, but about half must use a physical NETWORK card and half the other. Instead, all the traffic of all eight VMs released a physical NIC if I disable the physical NIC, it moves the second NETWORK card without problem. Then they both work, but he never uses both at the same time. This behavior is consistent across the two blades.

Is throughbut limited to ~ 110 MB per blade and the storage system can easily exceed this.

I've attached a screenshot of a virtual switch in place.

Virtual machines are access NFS data warehouses directly? If Yes, then yes it should work that way - however if you are using the NFS data store to host the VM files, including virtual disks and then traffic will turn off the vmkernel port and if have vmkernel unique port then what you are experiencing is expected - the vmkernel selects the outgoing NIC based on the virtual port id so if you have a single port vmkernel will suffice a single port as well as a NETWORK identifier unique will be used.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: If the problem does not still in safe mode, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Follow the steps in the article.

  • To connect to a shared folder between PC - error Code 0 x 80070035 "network path not found."

I have a client with 8 computers on a workgroup network.

Among youth, 2 computers not talking to each other or to connect to shared folders on the other drive. Both computers will speak on other computers on the network (wireless).

I looked at all the solutions that have been validated for the message Error Code 0 x 80070035 "network path not found." and none of them have solved the problem. I can't ping one computer to another. I noticed that when troubleshooting on the PC (both are desktop windows 7), 'client' that when I ping the other PC it returns an IPV4 (192.168.x.x) address, but when I ping another PC on the network returns an IPV6 address. I tried to turn off IPV6 adapter in the network adapter settings. It made no difference. I searched several 6to4 adapters in Device Manager, but only 1 exists. Turn it off did not seem to make a difference. As I said, both PC's are accessible by other computers on the network (wireless), but they cannot access each other.

Restart both computers several times (including cold starts and stops).

The only one I don't have not tried yet is releasing and renewing the IP address on both.

    Any suggestions?

    Well I fixed it myself.

In this case, there was a number of things I've done.

First of all, I checked to make sure that the firewall is not the issue. It wasn't.

Secondly, I checked the network connection to see if it has been set to the office network. One of them was, and that we have tried to connect to a was created for the Public network. Who changed the network and restarted.

Who has not solved the problem.

Finally, in desperation more than any other thing, I restart the network modem.

Guess what? That fixed the problem.

So, I guess it was a problem of ARP table or some other problem. When I tried to ping from the "client PC' on the shared drive PC, the IP address was 192.168.1.65. When I got the customer go to the drive shared PC and check the IP address it is 192.168.1.69.

Restart the modem and the "client PC" has solved the problem.

  • Critical network adapters disappeared after update

    Hi all

I have a HP G60-630US laptop, running Windows 7 64 bit. A few nights ago, Microsoft commissioned a critical update. After that, all of my network cards contained errors, and I had no network connectivity the wireless or wired. Hovering over the network icon says "no connection is available" (wired or wireless).

I tried to do a system restore first, which has no effect. Then, I went to the Device Manager and found errors with the following text:

    Atheros WiFi card

    Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

    Miniport Wan (IP)

    Miniport Wan WAN (IPv6)

    Miniport Wan (Network Monitor)

And under the PnP no errors with:

    NativeWiFi filter

    QoS Packet Scheduler

    PAM light filter

I uninstalled and then reinstalled, the WiFi adapter and Realtek adapter (I tried letting Windows find drivers on the HARD drive, tried HP driver downloads and then tried the latest drivers on the manufacturer websites). Then you use devcon, I reinstalled the following adapters:

    MS_NdisWanIp

    MS_NdisWanBh

    MS_NdisWanIpv6

    MS_IrdaMiniport

    MS_IrModemMiniport

    MS_PptpMiniport

    MS_PppoeMiniport

    MS_L2tpMiniport

    MS_agilevpnminiport

This has removed the errors of the network adapter in Device Manager, but I still have errors with no PnP devices. I have no idea how to reinstall them. I show that WLAN is on, but still there is no network connection. I still get the same "No available connection" error, and troubleshooting gives me this error (cable and wireless):

Windows could not automatically bind the Protocol IP on the network card stack.

I tried the following, but having no impact:

    netsh int ip reset all

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    Route f

Route Pei - 4 Add 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 192.168.10.1 (192.168.10.1 is the IP address of my router on another computer)

Under Network & Sharing Center, I tried to click on "Change adapter settings", but it gives me just a blank page, without at all adapters.

However, "msinfo32 > summary > components > network > adapter ' shows that the Miniport (SSTP) WAN is here, with the others, but"Card Type"for each of them to say 'not available', and the IP address, IP Subnect, IP gateway by default and DHCP server all say"not available ".

Finally and most importantly, I can ping myself with no packet loss, but nothing else. So I don't think that the NETWORK card is bad; There must be a conflict with this MS update, but I can't find it.

NO indication at all would be greatly appreciated. This notebook belongs to the Office Manager, and I worked on it for 3 days now! She is doing no work, so I am a little, it becomes a problem.

    TIA,

    Jason

Jack, I think you might have misunderstood me. I apologize.

When I click on "change card"parameter, there are no adapters on the screen. I have the button "Organize" on the top as usual, but the content area of the screen is all white, with nothing to click on.

But I guess we can forget just for now; a system recovery has apparently solved the problem (for now). But just know that something on 14/09/10 updated critical killed a HP G60-630US, so there must be an incompatibility somewhere.

  • Question about the collection of NETWORK adapters for vMotion / VM vSwitch

    Hello

We use vSphere Enterprise Edition 5.1.

We also create separate vSwitch for management / vMotion and VM.

Each vSwitch receives 2 network cards connected to the different switch for redundancy.

We would like to know is necessary to provide the collection of NETWORK adapters for these vSwitches?  Currently, only enable us NIC Teaming for VM vSwitch only.

    Thank you

VSwitch vMotion, we have 2 assigned NIC (nic2 and nic6) with 10 VLANS.  NIC2 and nic6 are connected to 2 different physical switches.

    Should I choose

    (1) both are active

    (2) both are assets + grouping of NETWORK cards?

Question - if there is only 1 VLAN, it seems that NIC Teaming is also not very useful unless we use 2 VLAN (Multi-NIC vMotion).  Is this right?

If you use Multi-NIC vMotion, there is no need to have two different VLANS, all you need is depending on configuration

on your vMotion switch, please create two vmkernel port for vMotion with the same VLAN ID, but the grouping of NETWORK cards as below

    vMotion_1 - VLAN ID: 10

    Grouping of NETWORK cards

    vmnic2 - active

    vmnic6 - watch

    vMotion_2 - VLAN ID: 10

    vmnic6 - active

    vmnic2 - watch

  • Mapping of several physical network adapters to virtual network adapters

    Hi all

I am wanting to know how to combine physical network adapters to virtual nics in Vsphere 4.1. I have a gateway virtualized device that supports multiple WAN connections and balancing on these connections. The bridge is all authentication PPPoE/A, so I need to have separate cards for each PPP connection. So, how can I connect a physical NETWORK adapter to a virtual NETWORK adapter and have all access the same VM virtual NIC?

    Hope that makes sense!

    James

Right-click on the virtual machine, and then select change settings. On the Hardware tab, click Add, and then add the virtual NICs that you will need.  On the network connection screen, you will be able to select a network label which corresponds to VM port groups you created.
