Error update system of Lenovo y550p
I installed the Lenovo system update program. But I get error on 27% when I run an update. It says "Error 76 from the center of update system".

This isn't a problem but a solution for a specific error.
SUp has wanted to update the version. After downloading and installing, it will come with en error "wrong characters in the path of the directory or drive X. Manual download and installation was the same.
As I am sure many of you are using an external drive, where the X directory (in this case the Documents, for security reasons). Disconnecting and by dipping sometimes main on the external drive not get the same drive letter. This is easily fixed with disk management, dating back to the original drive letter designation.
At this point, the installation of SU was still close to a mistake. "Incorrect or erroneous characters in the path of the directory", or something like that.
After a while, I did a scan or the registry (attention now, save it first) and found many entries where the drive letter for the directory was indeed wrong. Well, they can be edited or deleted. I don't like to delete anything in the registry without export and record. But just change it seems easier, so it has been done in about 14 entries.
And the problem was solved.
I have a question. Why DID need such attention to detail with an external hard drive? If the player is not connected, the error is because is missing. Why KNOW install need that? The directory in question was my images. Why only this one? There are many other subdirectories of Documents with the same error of path, but they were not pinning by installing KNEW? These subsdirectories get re-record them way because they are used in the correct location anyway.
Produced garbage can sometimes be purchased with software like CCleaner (careful with it). You think he should find the incorrect paths in a first time.

Some MSI Setup programs use "folder redirection". In your case, the Installer accessed C:\users\*yourid*\... a subfolder.

I re - install the system update 3.14 (uninstall, reboot, install), to downgrade the Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 Net Framework 3 sp1.

I installed sp2 of Vista and the patch for sp2 to vista system update.
Everything works fine now.

I noticed that:
-When this happened, the fingerprint reader to are featured strange - there is no if light (with green light) initially, Windows, and Windows was asking me a password instead of the fingerprint.
-In the Device Manager. Bluetooth category disappeared (I was there before the upgrade - for sure.). but I saw a new unrecognized device whose name ends with something like "(de l'énumération n'a pas pu) '-this could probably be the Bluetooth card."
-L' tray for Bluetooth icon disappeared.
-The Bluetooth system option submenu and its devices in the Windows settings disappeared (and it was here before).

I had to do a restore of the system using Linux (thankfully made a full HD image backup of the HDD and SSD using Clonezilla readers - that was the only way to fix this-instead of complete reinstallation of Windows).
The only driver that works for me is the Intel version 3.1.1307.364 issued on August 1, 2013.

I found a solution to this problem.
Apparently, installing bluetooth driver through update system does not install it properly.
So I downloaded the latest driver of Lenovo driver download page, and instead run autorun.exe, I sailed to 64-bit dir and then run the installation program.
Everything works fine now.

@All: I'm going to a new T420s in a few days and since I've never owned a TP, I have a few questions for more experienced users. I apologize in advance if the questions seem stupid, but I wonder if Win Update and the Lenovo system update can get in the other way and messes things in the system by overwriting the drivers, or they have nothing to do with the other? Furthermore, what about the power management settings? I heard that Lenovo is rich enough, so I was wondering if they can enter in conflict with the settings of Windows7 and in case those who I would prefer and how to work around others?

My rule of thumb is to:
(1) anything in the update system that is not a Windows update hotfix package.
(2) updated using Windows Update for Windows and associated fixes (disable the driver updated unless you know what you're doing).
(3) run System Update and install the update packages Windows remains, if necessary. -

Downloaded updates are deposited under C:\Program Update\session\ of Lenovo.
Can delete these files after you install the updates?
Yes, you can delete the contents of the folder after the installation of the drivers/software. The next time that you run the system update, you will probably see that the folders and multiple files (such as XML files) under the 'session' folder will be recreated/downloaded again, but these files will not take a lot of space. You can also move the contents of the record session on a USB drive or elsewhere. That way if you need to reinstall your operating system at some point, you can install the update system and copy the content under the folder of the session again. Then, you don't have to download all the stuff once more, as Lenovo download is extremely slow.
I don't know if it is possible to save the folder of session elsewhere and not in the system update folder. Maybe it's possible to change some registry keys or configuration files. It was never a problem for me if you ever tried to change this path. For backup using a backup program that allows to create incremental backups, then the files that is not changed will be saved only during the creation of the full backup. When the full backup is created incremental running not backup those files again unless they are changed.

Win 7 x 64 on Thinkpad W510. Original OS install from 2 years with several updates. More recently, the 5.05 update system. Downloaded and tried to install 5.06 manually. Unable to uninstall the old version, so I did a manual uninstall (remove directories and searched any entries in the registry and delete). I replaced the broken Samsung 1 TB of HDD in my T500 with a 1 TB WD drive and restored the laptop of my latest backup (restore and recovery). After that everything seemed OK and promising until I realized that the Windows Update client and system update were not able to connect to their corresponding update servers or not able to actually look for updates.
It took me a while to find an answer and a solution for the problem of Windows Update:
The Samsung drive had the size of logical sector of 512 bytes, and the size of 512-byte physical sector. However, WD has now logical alternative but 4 k disk size physical sector of 512 bytes. Given that customer Windows Update (Windows 7 x 64 BTW) uses a database of local physics based on the logical sector size could play a role.
The solution I found was to replace the SATA driver installed by the last RAID Intel rapid storage driver. This corrected some WRT question for sector sizes THAT NTFS is reported to the operating system. And this fixed the problem of Windows Update. Since then, the machine can connect and get Windows updates from Microsoft Windows Update servers again.
Unfortunately, the fast RAID storage driver installation has not fixed the problem with the system update. Whenever I run the system update it invites me to machine type model, OS and language, and after that, I get the error message
"The server system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. »
When I use a second Thinkpad T61 or an old T40 at the same time and run the update system on these machines they are still able to connect and retrieve a list of available updates.
I know that I could solve the problem by returning to a 1 TB drive with the physical sector size of 512 bytes, or probably a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 hard disk WD.
So the obvious question is: is there anything else I could do?
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling system update without success.

Hi, as I wrote in my first post I already tried your solution without success. System update was not even able to connect to the servers it is (or just showed this error for some reason any). However, I looked at the latest version of the update system released in October (v5.00.0019) and I have replaced v4.03.0012 with that one. And Yes - this time back to normal operation. Thus, TVSU v5 fixed somehow the problem even a never version v4 TVSU wasn't able to fix. The cause of this disorder is still unknown. Best regards, Ralf
