  The big question is what is the storage. ESX (i) have a limit on the size of the drive (2 TB less than 512 bytes). The MSA1000 is less than 2 TB, you should be able to run the converter and create the virtual server, including the E: drive. If the MSA is greater than 2 TB, but the used space is less than 2 TB converter will allow you to create the fret.

  Welcome to the forums.

  You can virtualize your server as a workstation or VM Player that you will store on a PC (possibly use a disc of removable storage for conversion). Use Workstation or Player to start the virtual machine and verify that everything is OK. When you think that your application is running virtual, install ESXi on your physical server and a copy of the virtual machine, or make another conversion of PC to ESXi.

  Hello, I read the manuals and understand the process as much as I have not actually started the consolidation. I have a Compaq ML350 server which has a default of fan cooling and want to make a virtual machine as a starting point. It will be important for the virtual machine to have the same computer name and be a member of our domain. The only question which does not seem to be addressed has to do with the old server. I need to have the available printserver. I know that you cannot have two SID, names of computers or IP addresses on a network domain at the same time. There is an option to change the name of the virtual machine before you start building. It would be wise to use a temporary computer name while doing my first consolidiation/conversion. Once completed, I could stop the printserver, remove the domain, start the virtual machine, rename it, join it to the domain, and then set the IP address to match my old material printserver. I guess correctly? I can't wait to leave the company without a printserver for more than a little bit. I guess additional servers, I wanted to convert should be treated in the same way?   There is no evaluation or trial version! What you download is a normal version of GA fully functional and is no different then if you bought it and using a serial number which never expires or simply by using a serial number which will expire in 30 days.

  On the Linux server you are converting.  When the converter reaches step 3 Options display/change the last option is called Helper VM Network.  You can change this option and add an ip address.  The ip address must be on the same network to your default gateway on your Linux server.

  This is a very dirty hack that will do what you want

  Edit the coldclone.iso and delete the file... \I386\bootfix.bin.

  If you delete this file from the CD will not be asked to "press any key to boot from the CD" - instead, it will always start in the CD.

  I finally found the guilty service.

  It was pcmonitor monitor/remote control software. Once I stopped it is service vmware converter could get the capacity of the physical drives.

  It is rather curious because I made several servers P2V conversions using this software (so far the last one two weeks ago - the difference between that server and this one was that the first was not a domain controller).
