  I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question in the subject of your HP Pavilion dv7-6154ea Entertainment Notebook and problems with the display driver stopped responding. I recommend to restore the default BIOS settings. You could restore the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. This resets the hardware parameters and contributed to others.

  First of all, my configuration is a Dell XPS 7100, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, the Videocard Visiontek AMD Radeon HD 6850 w / 9.2.0.0 driver version.

  Please make a backup of the registry before making any changes in it.

  When editing the registry go to:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • then the MATERIAL
  • then DEVICEMAP
  • then the VIDEO
  • in the 'VIDEO' file, there is an entry with the title: MaxObjectNumber - REG_DWORD
  • This has a value at the end that looks like 0 x 00000006 (6) or 0 x 00000005 (5)
  • Double-click MaxObjectNumber, and an edit box appears
  • put 0 in the given value, and then click OK.

  This laptop was having overheating problems when I got it. I have attached a platform of double USB fan led to her and which has helped considerably.   It's certainly plausible. I have not heard of questions with a mosfet specifically, but this issue certainly seems to be motherboard related. There are "companies" out there that repair card mother offer, but it may be more cost-effective to buy a new motherboard.

  You can also try to use a Map of Test Post if you have one or can borrow one. I don't like to think about buying something, unless I know it will solve the problem, but if the computers are a hobby for you, Test Post cards are a very handy to have around. If you decide to get one, look at the comments and make sure that he has the right connections to be used with your computer.
