Add network printer

I have a wireless operating using a Linksys WRT54G Router. I have a laptop running Windows XP (updated) and Internet Explorer 8, which connects to the internet via the wireless network.

I installed an all-in-one Officejet HP6310 connect to the router by an ethernet cable. I then installed the HP software on the laptop and tried to have the laptop (find) to recognize the printer. Using Windows ' Add'a Printer Wizard ", select"Network printer"and then I get three options to 'find' the printer:

Browse (1) - is not locate the printer

(2) connect to this printer - name: _______ example:\\Server\printer - not sure I used the path correct, but could not find the printer.

(3) to connect to a printer on the internet or on a home network or office - don't think this option applies to my setup, but he tried with the different path and it did not work.

I know the name of the network address IP, the network key, the name of the router, SSID, the name of the laptop and the name of the printer - but I seem not to be able to build a path that works. I stop the firewall/antivirus programs, but that made no difference... HP manual suggests that the problem may be an incompatibility of the printer gateways and router - I don't know what this means, how to check and if necessary how to remedy.

Can you please give me some advice on how to fix this - please!

Generally, the installation of HP discs take care to connect to a printer, in particular a multifunction printer.  However, you can also connect using the Add Printer Wizard.

The first place where ever you went wrong was when you selected the apparently clear choice of a "network printer".  Instead, choose 'Local printer' and let 'Autodetect' disabled.  On the next screen, select "Create a new Port" and change the "Port Type" to "Standard TCP/IP port".  This will bring up another wizard that will create a port.  Enter the IP address of your printer in the next screen.  The rest of the choices here on out are pretty obvious.

I have a problem with the printer! I have a network printer connected to my router via ethernet. I use the printer via wifi of two macbooks.

This morning, I tried to add a printer, and - as the magic - my printer appears in the window by default. Quickly, I added, print a test page, and then other PDF via Preview. Awesome! Then I tried to print a poster with Acrobat Reader, and I'm back for the message "printer not connected" that marked the beginning of my problems a week ago. Again, I have reset the printing system, even reinstalled two versions (more recent and earlier) drivers. I can ping the printer, but cannot add via IP either.

I searched more problems and solutions print, but in vain.

  • Failed to add the network printer

    Hello

We have a client that connects to our ERP system to print orders.  They connect through a VPN site-to-site and then access our system through an RDP connection to a server 2008R2 instance.  The printer is a HP LaserJet 4100tn

When I first set up in the spring I was intending to use the easy print with the redirect to printer driver to print orders.  However exceptionally slowly printed orders and I was not able to determine why.  Instead I've implemented their LaserJet as a local printer on our desktop server remotely using a HP LaserJet 4100 Series PCL6 driver.  It worked perfectly, and they have been printing without problem until yesterday.

Yesterday for some reason any printer stopped working.  On our Remote Desktop server, it appeared as grayed out with an exclamation mark above.  I did the following diagnosis:

    > They can print from their own local office it
    > They changed and turn it on again
    > I can ping the printer from our server OK
    > I can get on the web interface of the printer OK from our server
    > Restart our server remote desktop
    > Turn off the Windows Firewall on the Remote Desktop server

I therefore decided to remove the printer and add it again.  I go through the configuration wizard Windows printer usual choosing to do a new TCP/IP port, but when I put the IP address of the printer in Windows says that it is not the printer on the network (photo attached).

I tried to delete the printer port which has been associated with this printer and remove the driver but Windows still won't "see" the printer.

I am able to configure this printer on other servers from RD (2003 and 2008) and I also tried setting up on an old XP box, I had to hang out without problem.  Curiously, it seems only that this server is the only one that I can not set up the new even if it can ping the printer OK.

I found a troubleshooting printer HP hereWeb page but who was no help, and the software does not work on Windows Server versions.

Don't know what to do next!

This was solved by changing the IP address of the printer

After changing the IP address, I was able to add the printer to the server OK.

I wasn't able to find out why this is the case, but guess it is some incorrect IP or the information stored in the registry.

  • Can I use the CD to add my printer to the other computers on my home network?

Just purchased and installed a HP LaserJetPro 400 M401dn to my home network. Now that it is installed and configured as the default printer for my laptop, will it use the CD to add this printer to my wife and daughter networks, too?

We are all running Windows 7 on every laptop.

    Thank you

    Hey rhodesmk,

I recommend to install the drivers of comprehensive features, either from the CD or a download, on all computers that you want to use the Laserjet Pro 400 with.  This will ensure that all the features with each PC you want to have connected with the printer.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to add a network printer?

How can I add a network printer?

The printer has a wired connection to a router.  Its local IP address is 192.168.1.105.  The name of the printer is NPI64867B.

My laptop has a wireless connection to the same router.  Of course, access to the network works fine, since I can submit this announcement.  Also, I can ping the IP address of the printer from the laptop.

I have in the control panel printers, click Add printer, select "A network printer", select "Browse for printer", then click Next.  The following text is displayed:

Note that NPI64867B does not appear in the list "shared printers.  Does?

If I manually enter NPI64867B in the box of the printer and click Next (which should work?), I get the following error:

If it's important, I have another printer in network configured on the computer.  It's for another domestic network, so it is not connected now.  The name of the printer is NPI6AAA13.  I deselected the option 'Always print to this device, even if its IP address changes', nothing helps.

The port of the existing network printer name is the name of the printer, HPLaserJet200colorMFPM276nw product.  The printer I am trying to add has the same product name.  Is this a problem?  If so, can I change the name of an arbitrary name (currently unused) pre-existing port?

    Do this way:

    1. Open Printers and faxes
    2. Click on add a printer
    3. Click "Next", select "local printer" and make sure the box "Automatically detect my printer Plug-and-Play" is NOT checked
    4. Click "Next", select "create a new port", then select "Standard TCP/IP port" in the drop-down list (Note - If the printer that you are adding is an HP printer and if the drop-down list includes "HP Standard TCP/IP Port" select that instead; more details later)
    5. Click 'Next' in the standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard Welcome screen
    6. For "printer name or IP address" type 192.168.1.105; the "Name of Port" box is filled in automatically, but you can change it to something more useful, like Office LaserJet or a printer room bedroom, etc..
    7. Before you click 'Next', confirm that the printer is turned on
    8. Click 'Finish' to complete her Add Port Wizard and return to the add a Printer Wizard
    9. Select your model and the manufacturer of the printer and the wizard

A very common problem with the printers on a network that are left at the default setting for automatically an IP address is that they have a different IP address by the DHCP server on the router if the printer is turned off for a period of time.  The Windows printing system does not detect IP address changes, and therefore the communication with the printer is lost.  'HP Standard TCP/IP Port' has the ability to detect the printer, even if its IP address changes.  You should definitely select this option or - and this is the best practice - assign a static IP address for printers all in network.

How can I add a printer to my wireless network

    John

I assume that you have a wireless printer. If so, the software is different from each manufacturer, but it is similar to this. Before starting the installation, make sure that you have a USB cable at your fingertips and you know your network name (SSID) and wireless key. Install the software and follow the prompts to set up the connection Wireless for the first time. Once it has been set up you can unplug the USB cable.

The USB cable is not required on subsequent computers, simply install the software and follow the prompts on the screen of an additional computer (or similar wording). You may need to enter an SSID and Wi - Fi key, after which the printer must be accounted for.

  • The password is required to add a network printer?

    Hello

I am trying to set up a printer on our work network. I am running windows xp pro as well as other users using xp and windows 7. I have a HP Laserjet 1018 connected to my PC via USB and it prints well. The problem occurs when users try to add this printer to their PC. I put the same WORKING Group on all PCs. I enabled "use simple file sharing" in the Panel.  Users with windows 7 do not detect even the printer. Users with windows xp detects the printer, but when trying to add, a password is requested. I don't know what password it refers. We have a 2nd printer connected to another PC users and which works very well on the network.
I read tutorials but can't seem to find what is the question. Please point me in the right direction to get this updated printer in place on our network.
    Thanks for the help

Thanks for the info. I managed to finally solve my problem. As I said, I did have a password administrator has access to my PC, but all other PCs asks for a password when you try to add the printer connected to my PC.

I decided to give a password to my account and curiously, it worked after that. Other users could add my printer without hassle.
  • Why can't I add a printer Network Wizard "add printer"?

The printer is directly connected to your network with an Ethernet cable, or is the printer connected to another computer via a USB cable and then the other computer connected to the network by an Ethernet cable?

  • How can I permanently add a printer to a network?

    Hello
I have a network with 10 knots. Printer is connected to one of the nodes. When I want to connect to the printer, I first connect to this node and add the printer. But when I restart the other PC, the connection between PC and printer fails. I have to reconnect to this node and add the printer.

  • How to add the printer in Photosmart 7525 wireless network to my laptop?

I have already added my new printer Photosmart 7525 to my home network.  It is installed via USB with the complete HP 7525 software (downloaded from HP) on my HP desktop computer that is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and I shared the printer on the desktop.  I want to access the printer even my laptop which is connected to my network via a router wireless (N).  The laptop is running Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit.  On the laptop under Windows, when I click to "add a network printer", it "sees" the printer 7525 shared desktop, and she also 'sees' 2 iterations of the 7525 which are connected to the network (I used the control panel of the printer to add the 7525 to wireless connection before never hang on the printer to any PC).    Under Windows, when I click on 'Add' my printer to the laptop, it pops up a window asking me to choose my printer model in the list of printers HP listed in the menu drop-down (it is looking to add the printer driver, I think).  My Photosmart 7525 is not in the list.  Photosmart 7500 series of printers is not also listed - even when I refresh the list of printers Windows drop-down list by using the Windows Update option.  So, what should I do - download and install the Photosmart full 7525 software and then add the 7525?

    Hi cwr64,

It is easier, more likely to work, to install the software of feature complete on each computer you want to use this printer.  I think you can use the printer with the USB cable connected to a printer and the Wi - Fi connection for other systems on your network home.

The exception: CE devices don't use FFS - instead, you can use the mobile application for printing.

  • When you add the network printer

When you add the printer network TCP/IP port option is not in the drop-down list

The TCP/IP port selection will not be on "Add a network printer" it will be on "add a local printer.  You want to feed the printer directly.  In the printers and Faxes folder, click on 'Add printer' > next.  Select "local printer attached to this computer.  Do not check "automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer."  Click Next.  Select "Create a new port" and choose "Standatd TCP/IP Port" in the menu drop-down.  Click Next, click Next again (in the "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" Wizard), enter the printer's TCP/IP address, click Next, and then finish.  You return to the add a Printer Wizard.  Select the driver, and then complete the wizard. • Add a printer to the network

I just reimagee my Windows XP Tablet which has always been on my network home, share 2 printers and internet through a router with no server. Now I can't understand how to add the software to my Tablet then he can print to the Brother HL-2700CN color laser just attached to the router. Can I start by simply load the CD and choose a Standard Installation, non-personalized, then selecting either shared network printer (probably not since no server) or local-to-Peer Brother printer and no local printer cable (USB or parallel). The next page says 1. Search for the network (does not), 2. Specify your machine by IP address (what?) 3. specify your machine by the name of the node (what?)

I have messed with it for too long and can not understand. I have thought of it when, since then he has worked in the past. Still, it prints from my other pc in the same situation on the home network. I can look at his installation somewhere?

config info = the [printer] Setup information.   The instructions in theQuick Installation Guide for your printer, you download from HERE , provide instructions to print the parameters of the printer (configuration information).

See print a printer settings Page 33 page in the PDF file, number as a31 page to print the printer configuration information. You simply press the buttonset on the time of three (3) printer and it should display a page with all the printer configuration information.  This information should contain the IP address of the printer.  Rerun the installation program that you did the other day and enter the IP address of the leaf, when you are prompted for the IP address of the printer.

  • Printer network not visible in Add a Printer Wizard

HP 6MP printer connected to the Linksys Ethernet router. Two Mac computers and a laptop (Windows XP) connected to the same router. Two Macs see and be able to use the printer on the network. Laptop can't see the printer in the add a Printer Wizard. All computers can access the internet (router works fine).

In the add a Printer Wizard, under "Shared printers" only "Microsoft Windows network" is listed with the local printer drivers.

How can I get our printer HP visible so it can be added to the laptop PC and used on the network?

Did you first install the printer drivers on XP? If this isn't the case, please find them in the HP website and try that. If the printer is not seen during the driver installation routine, then there are other methods to try, but everything first, let me know what happens.

Note: Since it is a network printer, I assume that you have correctly set its given static IP address one outside the range of your router's DHCP. If this isn't the case, you do not want to set a static IP address for network printers. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Add a network printer by using different credentials in Windows Vista Home Premium

    Hello

I am trying to add a shared network printer (from server) of a computer running Windows Vista Edition Home Premium. The user must authenticate by using different credentials, but I can't find a way to force Vista to connect with different credentials.
In Windows 7, it's easy, I just add an entry in the credentials manager and everything works, I can connect to the server, access to all of the actions that the user has access to and add the printer.
In Windows Vista, I can't do that. "" If I try to add a network of credentials in the "stored user names and passwords", I can only add a "a Web site or program identification information. "A credential to Windows logon" is greyed out.
When I try to access the share in Windows Explorer, I get an access denied. Instead of having Windows pop up a dialog to authenticate, he tries just to the help of the currently connected user credentails, which isn't what I want.
If I try to add the printer using the Add Printer Wizard-> add a network printer, when I enter the path to the printer, I also have an access denied instead of bring up a Windows authentication dialog box.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
