Error "Windows can not open installer_msi_win.msi."
I get the error "Windows cannot open installer_msi_win.msi." It resembles an association for execution has disappeared.
I found a msiexec.exe file and tried to associate-but, it did not help. It displays a message indicating that my run is in the wrong format.
Note: I do a clean-up recently and deleted all my kb*.log files that were under 2 years old. I wonder if this is related?
Whatever it in, how can I get my installation files (installer_msi_win.msi) back to work for me?
I think these are my updates of Windows and rather important.
See if its installed. Go in run, type: cmd cmd type: Msiexec/help
A display window should appear with msi info, otherwise Close cmd.
Go in run, type: msiexec /Unregister
Once done, go to run, type: msiexec/regserver
This must be reinstalled Installer.

like many others your under the impression that computers are smart. and that computers have the ability to think. It is 100% fake. computers are quite ignorant, it's the programmer who makes an intelligent computer. but there are limits to what programmers can do.
extensions are no exception. they are not managed by the windows shell. are traversed by a program. Windows does not include what the program does, or he does not understand what is the extension. In Windows Mail, I can not open .doc files, I get the error that it is not associated, and he tries to search in appdata/IE5 for a reason any. PDF, PPT, XLS all work fine. I had to remove the regedit. for some reason the mail windows refuses to unassociate so go to regedit, I don't like playing with regedit, but it worked, I deleted and then again, all ok now.

We have solved this problem by granting explicit permission at the same time "domain users" and "domain administrators" you can plug in "domain" in the field and the search for the users and select them. But this solved the problem for us.

I tried several solutions and searched many forums. This has actually been a problem for some time now, and I do not know what facilities of printer driver broke.
I did put a lot of thought into it and just posted stuff to the network and printed one of my other computers. It became a problem recently, when I was too lazy to get up and turn on one of the other computers. :-) I then decided that I just needed to fix it.
I read all the posts I could find for each version of Windows treats this problem and tried each of them. I removed all the old drivers (at least I think I did. I couldn't find anybody would say, 'Here are the drivers installed.'). I downloaded the new drivers from HP. I edited the registry. I went to the folder/Windows/System32/Spool/something and deleted all. I searched all references to Lexmark (my old printer) and deleted.
In any case, last night my boot sector failed, so I ended up reinstalling Windows. I just finished now, and the printer works fine, now.
PS I'm sorry that this thread will be of no use to any person responsible research. I found a lot of them, too.
