eSata problem

Hello

I have a problem with eSata on my model of Lenovo IdeaPad G560 0679 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 DK (in Danish). When the connection and the transfer of data through a drive external hard of the eSata (eSata/usb2 Samsung Story Station Plus HX-DE015EB), my computer hangs after 5-10 seconds in the transfer. And yet, nothing happens. Just transfer stops and the computer stalls.
This only happens when I use the eSata external hard disk option. When you use USB2 transfer is correct to about 25 MB/s.

Now, one would think that something is wrong with the connection of the eSata hardware on the motherboard or the connector eSata himself.

To test this theory, I installed Windows XP on the computer, and eSata turns out perfect work with around 70 Mbps. throuput. USB2 was around the usual 25 MB/s.
I also tried Ubuntu OS, and eSata is as fast as on Windows XP.

So I think it's a software/driver problem with Windows 7.

Someone at - he heard of similar problems and how to solve this problem? I talked to Lenovo telephone assistance, but so far not found any solution.

PS:
I do not boot from the external drive. It is only for storage.
The external drive is 6 months and worked perfectly until I tried with Windows 7.
I tried to format the drive with NTFS and FAT32. Also with Samsungs own formatting tool. No difference.
And there is no difference if I exhaust all 3 USB connections on the computer or use only one for eSata.
I have the latest version of the BIOS (29CN31WW v2.08), the chipset (9.1.1.1020) driver, the driver Intel Matrix Storage Manager (9.6.0.1014), the driver of the Intel Management Engine Interface (6.0.0.1179). Everything for the 64-bit operating system.
All the updates of Windows 7.
I have disabled the Windows Firewall.

    Hello

I have a laptop dv7 with an esata port.

I have a g-tech external drive that works perfectly under 7 but not in the 8.

He appears in the Manager for devices with an exclamation mark.

G - tech said it's a problem of esata controller driver and contact hp.

When it is attached to win 7 that no external driver was used, windows installed.

Also the manufacturer provides no drivers.

    Any help appreciated.

Sometimes, the chipset is listed.  Actually, it seems not to be included in the system devices and it's a little strange to me.

The use of a third-party program will be necessary to check the bridge chipset and South of the system.

Download the latest version of CPU - Z from here.  Don't forget to uncheck the options if you do not want (they are enabled by default).

Once which is loaded, start the program and select the Mainboard tab and point out for the southbridge/chipset.

External eSATA ports and USB ports, are largely controlled by the chipset drivers.  Update of these drivers may be the key.

  • Starting SL on second drive - test OK platform?

Apple, Adobe, Silicon Image (eSata problems), Retrospect... you guys are scaring me. I've updated all the Macs I've owned since my first Mac 128 k! and never was more concerned about an upgrade. Of course, there are many moving parts since having started on a floppy drive :)

Here's the plan... I want to use the readers in my MacPro and load SL. When I boot on SL more CS4 which is already loaded on the leopard disk behave as if they are native to the SL disk or Apple/Adobe move or tweak the files during the upgrade to SL?

    Thank you j

Ideally, the CS must be installed on your startup disk. It's messy (if not non-functioning) If you try to run from another drive of the system.

You can use your second simultaneous activation of CS on the SL disc, or you can run CS in trial mode. 30 days should be sufficient to see if everything works.

  • Problem with Toshiba Stor.E D10, 1 of 5 TB external HARD drive and eSata connector

    Hello

I have a problem with eSata HARD drive. I have a toshiba Stor.E D10, 1, 5 to external HDD. When I plug it into the connector back eSata, Windows 7 recognize this and I can read it, but when I try to write about it, it freezes and I have to unplug it. When I connect the Toshiba Stor.E D10 with the USB cable, everything works fine. The problem is when I use the eSata connector. I have updated the BIOS to the latest without any improvement. In the BIOS, I tried esata IDE and AHCI controller without success.

My system: Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate, card mother Gygabyte GA-X58A-UD3R(rev. 2.0)

    Any help is happy.
    Thank you

    Javier,

    Hello

Did you check and test the drive external DRIVE with other computers that provide the eSATA interface?
I think that this should be done because theoretically the problem might be related to the laptop s / s computer eSATA port.

  • ThinkPad W701 - deleted BIOS, USB/Esata mysterious problems before update

    Hello

Yesterday I was supposed to tto try my new external drive esata, I had previously used with my EX495 homeserver, without any problem.

But when I connected to the W701 it seemed that the connection has failed and the drive fell to sleep when I tried to write for her. When I used USB it worked perfectly and with the esata Server worked without a hitch.

After trying some time, I decided to try the lacie updater and then a reboot. After that, all ports usb failed.

I had already watched the Lenovo updateprogram and found some updates, so I ordered the computer with the trackpad and updated, but when the computer suddenly restarted and screen shows underscore flashing and that's it. After that, the screen went black and no longer lights.

I it for 4-5 weeks now and after 1 week the Mo failed when defining new ram and has passed, there is now not yet - is there anything I could to, or should it return service?

I did not help - Lenovo replaces the MB, at least this start.

  • Toshiba Stor.E D10 on Satellite A660 PSAW3E esata connection

    Hello!!!

A few days ago, I bought a 1.5 to Toshiba Stor.E D10 eSATA HARD drive.
I tried to connect it via the eSATA cable. At first I saw my D10 HDD 1.5 in Win explore (Win 7 Home Premium x 64) as drive E.
When I tried to access the drive, I get a "device not ready" error I was expecting 5 minutes with HARD drive connected externally. I got the same error. When you look in the Device Manager in the records section I couldn't see it. All I see is the internal 640 GB HARD drive.
When I connect it via the USB 2.0 connection, the drive is recognized and working properly. I could transfer data to this subject with 23MBps max on USB 2.0 speed is 60MBps (480 Mbps).
As I work with huge video files (~ 10 GB per hour of video) I need an eSATA connection to expedite the transfer.

Plese help me with this problem!

  • Satellite Pro M30 and eSATA

    Hi all

I recently bought the external drive western digital mybook premium ARE. This disc has an eSATA (external SATA) port.

The problem is that my satellite pro m30 (model #: psm35e0021jar) is not the external SATA port. I found an ADDONICS (eSATA, ExpressCard 34) and another similar product from SIIG (eSATA II Express Card).

    The question is:

1.) these products going to be compatible with my fairly old laptop?
2.) is the hard drive of my laptop SATA technology is or what?
(3.) what brand of motherboard used in my laptop?

Thanks in advance and I cannot wait for the answers.

    Hello

1.) these 3 products of third parties are not known to me, but as you know the Satellite Pro M30 does not support a SATA interface and if you want to upgrade the HARD drive, you will need to use the HARD disk with interface IDE (ATA-5) increased.
(2.) No, as indicated above the laptop supports the IDE and not SATA
(3.) the Satellite Pro M30 using motherboards Toshiba ;)

A hint; If you have a SATA HDD, you can use it as a external HARD drive. This HARD disk can be connected via external USB sata controller.

  • Satellite A500 - 1 GB - copy dialog crashes on the eSATA connection

    Hello

    I have trouble when using my Samsung storyboard (1.5 TB, eSata/USB 2.0) with the Satellite A500 - 1 GB (Windows 7 64-bit):

    (a) when you use the connector eSata (preferred):
The drive is recognized by the system, and I can read the directory information. But I cannot copy or play the disc. The copy dialog box freezes quickly and cannot be terminated easily.

    (b) when you use the USB connector:
It is also recognized by the system, but copy and read operations take ages - I have tried to make a backup of the system, but cancelled after 5 hours.

The drive works fine with another PC (also Windows 7 x 64), so the drive itself should be ok.

I've updated satellite drivers today (BIOS, chipset and responsible storage), but this did not improve the situation at all.

The question is probably, due to the 150 versus Protocol SATA 300 SATA? A500 - 1 GB does support SATA 300 (SATA 2) or just SATA 150 (1 SATA)? Is there a specific SATA driver (Intel?) I might give a try? Where could I check who is currently SATA-used protocol?

Or do you have other clues on how I could solve this problem?

    Best regards
    Waschlappen

    Hello

Theoretically, your external hard drive eSATA connection could be defective so have you tested the USB connection only on your other PC or eSATA too?
In addition, you should test another cable, I had a USB cable, did the same problem and after Exchange of cable, everything was ok.

There is no special driver for it on the eSATA connection. I think that it s part of the chipset driver for reinstall the chipset driver could also be helpful.

  • Re: Portege R830 eSATA - failure to mount the external hard drive

{color: #000000} I have a new Portege R830 with combined eSATA / USB port. It will recognize an external drive in as drive 0 Device Manager but does not mount the drive under Win 7 x 64. The road rises and works absolutely normally under USB2 via the combined port or one of the other ports on the PC. The player works absolutely normally under eSATA on another desktop PC Win 7 x 64

Search Internet suggests that this is a widespread problem with Win 7, but given the above commentary to normal operation on my desk, strongly indicates that it is "simply" a laptop Toshiba driver problem Win 7 x 64.

A workaround solution that someone had reported was to boot the PC with the drive connected. This will lead to the PC mount the drive, but I found to be unreliable - tends to freeze the unpredictable machine, but when logged in it showed he was transferring data at a reasonable speed.

The search for these forums, no solution has not identified... Toshiba - think you should answer it please!

Afetr all is a 'feature' significant on the Portege and rather defeats the point if it is impossible to use...

    Hi mate

First of all, it is a forum for a user to this don t address issues from Toshiba here in the forum, but other users of this community.

Back to your question; Does this mean that the HARD drive connected to the eSATA port cannot be recognized as device eSATA but USB device?

Please check if you are using the latest version of the BIOS. On the European driver Toshiba page, you can find the BIOS version transferred to 29/07/11.
In addition, I recommend to check the BIOS settings; check if eSATA is activated it.

  • Satellite L650 - eSATA/USB combo port does not work

I donot have esata devices. but as I know that I can still use this combo port to connect usb devices. However, I have tried mu esternal hd (2.5') and USB receiver usb (for mouse and keyboard) and some other usb for iphone and sgs2 cables. None of them worked!

can someone help me with this problem? is this a hardware or just problem that I missed something.

    Help, please.

    Hi alwayseric,

What operating system do you use?
Have you checked for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager?
If you connect USB devices to the normal USB port it works?

I would recommend a chipset driver. It's worth a try, and you can download it here:

I've been using a WD MyBook drive for a year with USB, no problem, except the message of 'the write failure delay' occasional (big problem with WD drives)

The first time I used the command via eSATA was pretty sweet. Reading/wirte speeds.
