  Hi all -
  
  I'll need some help understanding the Essbase system 9.3 & 11 licenses. I'll talk to an oracle representative on this soon, but before that, I want to assure you that I understand. Any input on this would be highly appreciated.
  
  FYI, I'm not a guy to typical infrastructure. I was recently invited to a customer team and try to find the existing licenses on the essbase server.
  They run 9.3.1 and I do not see the license information (nothing like the file .lic, nothing in the folder essbase.cfg, nothing like license directory under hyperion). When I watched one of the xcp files in this server, I see that:
  Serial number: bath
  Expiration date of license:
  Port number: 0
  Number of uses ports: 0
  
  1. This means that 9.3.1 requires license file more? Any social org can use essbase 9.3 without licenses?
  
  2. Furthermore, I know there is the license file master in the essbase oracle Web site, do we need to download it in case there is no license to the server file?
  
  Now, if we want to improve the same system v9 to v11, I believe that we must purchase licenses for each server.
  
  3. If our hearts of processors X 6 2 servers = 12 VCPUs & 128 GB of RAM; This means that we must purchase licenses of essbase to 6 processors. Is this correct?

  I hope this is the information you are looking for. I answered based on my experience, but your situation may be different. Please check and verify with your Oracle sales representative before doing anything.

  It is there more no license in V9.3.1 file. All businesses need license to Essbase. I think that the Oracle software is free to download and learn to students on a non-commercial basis or individuals. Please read the Oracle agreement when you download software. Any commercial use must be licensed.

  You don't need a license file.

  Now, if we want to improve the same system v9 to v11, I believe that we must purchase licenses for each server.

  Please use the Oracle base conversion factor table to decide if you should buy licenses

  for example, if your current license is on processors Intel Xeon series 56XX with 8 CPUS (2 CPU x 4 cores) then you are actually allowed to 8 * 0.5 = 4 base license. I drifted 0.5 table of basic factor value.

  Upgrade belongs to Oracle on maintenance that will license rules remain the same regardless of the version, in that you are.

  When you upgrade if you install on an Intel Itanium 95XX series with 12 CPU (2 CPU x 6 hearts) then you must purchase additional licenses of 8 cores.
  Necessary licenses = 12 * 1(core factor for Itanium) = 12
  Licenses, you already have = 4
  Base additional licenses, you must obtain 12-4 = 8

  We had a third party outside licensing company help understand us all this. You can hire someone.

  4. If we have 200 users, how many ports or licenses, we need to buy? The essbase license is based on the number of users or the number of processors?
  Depends - licenses may be cores of server or by users. If your license is ordered by server core licenses, number of users has no importance. Please consult your Oracle representative or on what type of license you have your supplier management. By example, one of our regions licensing is by users and other regions, that is Server cores.

  Would you happen to know if its possible for this message is lost? I have 130 users who access the database and I do not have this message from appearing every time that they connect.
  
  It's the messgase: WARNING - 1051287 - Essbase license will end the: 12/31/10.
  
  I guess that's a server configuration that I need to change?

  Hello

  I guess that users are not administrators, only administrators should see this message.

  Another way to turn it off is in the area add global option > view messages > errors.

  We are on version 7.15, whenever I am going to pull data in excellent... Initially it displays warning saying 'your license expires the 12\31\2011', how avoid this warning message... y at - it something we can do... to avoid warnings and display errors only.

• Licensing planning - non active users

  Hi guys,.

  I have a question. I have a number of licenses and licenses essbase and neet know little of planning:

  1 planning license allows:

  • Limitation of usage more Essbase (reserved for use only to access Hyperion Planning more data)

  Does this mean that I can connect to planning Apps via SmartView using the connection of Essbase Type or Essbase ExcelAddin? Or is this breach of contract?

  2. in shared services, I have some users who have been disabled (and no one to use). What is still, they are counted as users of the planning in the sense of the license?

  3. is there a way to check how much license system uses? (for example a db query)?

• Not able to connect to the essbase server: error 10061 NW

  Hi all

  I am currently working on Hyperion 11.1.2.3 and have installed Hyperion essbase and planning for the same thing. Until a few days back I was able to connect to my server essbase in environmental assessments, but now it gives me error that says: error: 1042006: Network error [10061]: unable to connect to [WIN - 1K6GBOF63C0:1423], where WIN-1K6GBOF63C0 is my machine name.

  The error being generated using relates to Essbase is not able to connect to the registry of SSP database, or the database is corrupt.

  Are a set of services to automatic, maybe that the database has not increased and running prior to Essbase trying to boot against the register of Shared Services.

  Confirm the relational database is finally up and running and you can connect, then clear the Essbase logs, start Essbase, and post again the same newspapers.

  I license planning more and you want to use ODI to load the data.

  Can I do with Essbase knowledge Modules without breaking the license? Ago easier to use, in my opinion.

  We have updated the essbase.cfg and define the TRUE ENABLESWITCHTOBACKUPFILE but that didn't work.

  Also, we have renamed the file essbase.sec in essbase_bak.sec and restarted the service. still no luck.

• How to load HFM data into Essbase

  Hello

  How can bring us the HFM data into Essbase cube with using EAL, since we have performance using EAL - DSS as a source with OBIEE reporting problems.

  The expanded use of analytical, I heard we can only only level 0 of HFM Essbase data and need to write the currency conversion and the calculations of eliminating PKI in Essbase to roll the Member parent. Is this true?

  Also how we can convert security HFM to Essbase security.

  Please suggest me on this.

  Security will be a bit tricky as Essbase uses generally filters and HFM security classes. You can potentially use shared groups in Shared Services, but licensing issues soar depending on supply. Your best bet is maybe to look at export artifact LCM to handle.

  Essbase will communicate with the relational database of Shared Services on commissioning, if it is impossible to connect to the database, then it is common that you'll see this kind of error.

  Check the relational database is up and running and you can connect to the database/schema of Shared Services with the same credentials that you can configure.

• 6.5.5.0 license server information

  Does anyone have the license server for 6.5.5.0 information

  I'm sure 99.999% as 6.5.5 (oh, Application Manager, always miss you) - do not use a key license. - DOH! I thought to license server. Yes, 6.5.5 uses a key during installation.

  OP - why do you think that you need a license key? I guess that if you receive a message "license key expired" or its equivalent in the Essbase.log, there are 0.001% chance I'm wrong on this one.

  If you do a 'new' install of 6.5.5, it might be time for you to upgrade. There are a number of improvements fair since that release. :)
