When you try to start the essbase application we executed the script below:

Essbase will communicate with the relational database of Shared Services on commissioning, if it is impossible to connect to the database, then it is common that you'll see this kind of error.

Check the relational database is up and running and you can connect to the database/schema of Shared Services with the same credentials that you can configure.

I'm sure my system and a final step is the Essbase startup script.

At the present time under its weight:

startEssbase.sh {my_admin_password}

who is not particularly safe.

How can I secure it so that I that either don't have the password in plain text or the password is not passed at all (which normally turns in leading fashion)

In the Essbase Administrator's guide, he explains how to hide the password on a Unix server. Click on the link below and look for the following expression, 'hide Essbase server passwords. There is a sample script for secure password.

Essbase studio startup
Hi all

I installed 11.1.1.3 on win2003 server. It works very well.

When I opened the Essbase studio Console with from Studio Server manually every time it's show error

Error connecting to Essbase Studio Server
Reason network error-

Please let me know how to start Essbase studio without starting Studio Server each time.

The essbase studio server must be started before you can use the client, the client connections to the server studio.

It's the equivalent of saying why can not I use customer EAS without starting the application server in Regional service.

You can also set a studio as a windows service, have a read here

Essbase version

Hi all
I'm in EPM 11.1.2.3 Basic version and I applied the Essbase Server patch Patch 17767302
However, when I check the version of essbase I still see ESB11.1.2.3.000
Should I take any other measure?

Look in the Essbase.log - \user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\essbase\essbase\essbase.log

or search for the newspaper OPMN - \user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\OPMN\opmn\console~Essbase1~EssbaseAgent~AGENT~1.log

At startup, you should see something like

Essbase service starts not (planning 11.1.2.3.501)

Work with Planning version: 11.1.2.3.501
This morning we received the following error message in planning when you open a form:
"Unable to get a connection for Hyperion Essbase. If the problem persists, please contact your administrator. "
For our UAT environment, it was enough to just stop and start services. For our production environment, all the services seem to be start correctly, but when I try to connect to Essbase through the administrative console I get the following error:
Error [10061] network: could not connect to [BXTS131040.eu.rabonet.com:1423]
When I run diagnostics I get the following error (see attachment):
Validate the connection to the server Essbase to BXTS131040.eu.rabonet.com
Error: Could not connect to the olap service. Unable to connect to the server of Essbase to 'BXTS131040.eu.rabonet.com:1423 '. Error network [10061]: unable to connect to [BXTS131040.eu.rabonet.com:1423]
Recommended action: check Essbase server is started.
The startup log does not say much either. Watch only a different way of exploitation forest (UNKNOWN?) and THREADS is [1 num] rather than [issue 4]. I don't know where to look for this "UNKNOWN" part in the log... see below:

The problem has been resolved by restarting the server... Essbase starts again. But I need to know why it happened... so I did some research... discovered all the problems started 27-06 at 00:43

In the Regional service Console, right-click on the name of the application,

Select "Edit properties".

Tab "General".

Uncheck the option "Start application Essbase server at startup.

Unable to upgrade Essbase studio 1.1.3 to 1.2.1
Hello gurus,

I'm upgrading Essbase studio 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1. Here is the environment.

OS = Windows Server 2003 R2 x 86
Database = MS SQL 2008 R2

It is a unique environment and I am able to perform an upgrade inplace for all the elements outside of Essbase Studio.

Does EMP 11.1.1.3 support SQL 2008? Since there is no problem while I configured EMP 11.1.1.3 with it.

I checked EssbaseStudioServer.log and here's something I found in the newspaper.

Start error Essbase Studio
Hi all

I am very new to hyperion. I installed services, essbase and planning foundation and configured them. Then I installed essbase studio via EssbaseStudioConsole and started the system to help start the EPM system. When I run EPM System diagnosis, is everything except for this error:

ESS FAILED: connection of Essbase Studio Essbase Studio server validation
Error: The network communication with the server failed. Check your network connection and try again.
Recommended action: application startup

What could cause such a mistake? I'm looking for what things in the environment that Essbase Studio depends on, but could not find one.

You need to check the server.properties for correct syntax to connect to Oracle, the file will be in /user_projects//BPM/BPM/bin

If you use the name of the service Oracle syntax is

Catalog.URL=oracle\://host\:port/OracleServiceName

If you use the SID Oracle syntax is

Catalog.URL=oracle\://host\:port\:sid

If you make any changes, restart the service of Studio.

Also, it looks like you use the schema system is that correct?
"The 'System' database contains no tables of the catalog Studio."

You shouldn't really use the diagram of the system and create one for the Studio.

Essbase not from V11.1.2.2
Hello

I installed V11.1.2.2 on Windows 2003 server with oracle 10g under database.
My installed components are Foundation Services & Essbase.

I'm being transferred to unique managed server so I see the service as ' Hyperion EPM server - web application.
During the startup of this service, I am able to connect on HSS with my Admin account.

Then I try to connect to my Essbase.
Services EAS is started & EAS connection is successful.

Now, when I try to start my services essbase (tried with OPN & startessbase.bat) to connect to Essbase, unfortunately I see the error below.
I checked this forum & experts suggested to check the number of the agent in the configuration file (.cfg) can see it correctly points to 1423.

Unable to start service (ohsInstance3250625901) to manage the Oracle process on local computer
Error 1053: The service did not start timely demand

I even checked the event viewer, but unfortunately could not find any information.

Essbase 11.1.2.1 in distributed installation problems

I have installed and configured the EPM 11.1.2.1 system in 2 machines:

Server 1: Foundation Services, planning, HPS, Reporting and analysis, calculation Manager, Essbase administration Services, EAS Console
Server 2: Services Foundation, Essbase Server

Services are running so far. I don't a not restart the essbase server machine still because I struggled in the previous installation and could not start all over again... but I reinstalled and configured everything and it works, the service is in place and Essbase.exe is running.

I plugged in the Regional service Console, however, you press Add Essbase-Essbase servers on server and I had 2 nodes: EssbaseCluster-1 and < server2hostname >: 1423. I choose the 2nd option and tried to connect and I couldn't. The connection timed out waiting for Essbase Agent, so I went back to Server 2 and run tool Diagnostics EMP, which gave me the following error message:

Error: Essbase server was not correctly outsourced.
Recommended action: check Essbase server is started.

I don't know what I have to do. I have no error during installation or configuration, or at least not a visible. Need some advice how to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

If you can connect and configure the essbase users through shared services then you should be fine.
It is common to see the name of the cluster in shared services.

Any script to start and stop essbase on Unix?
I am trying to automate the starting and stop all services in a batch scripts. but my essbase is UNIX. I don't have much exp on Unix. can someone help me please to who?
If you are closing services, you can use maxl like I said of the windows machine.

To call a script at startup of windows, then you will need to study a little more maybe cygwin openssh, Rexec, telnet... Google is your friend.

The Essbase 11.1.2 - Urgent Service error
Hi all

I got a 11.1.2 planning environment set up on two W2k8 x 64 machines VMS. The Essbase service failed for the second time now. Earlier, is that the beginning of setting up the environment so I reinstalled Essbase and he started to work very well. Now again once it began to stop after running for a few seconds.
Tried booting using the OPM, start menu, as well as through the command prompt. Here it is what is available in command promt.

From Essbase.properties
A subdirectory or file C:\Apps\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\starter already exists.

I got the same error. Check Agent port 1423 and 32768 ubnoccupied by other processes.
Replace the s file with the .postUPM one.
This will start with the sample essbase applications only. If this does not work, one of your applications is may be corrupted.

If you got your autostart applications and one is broken, it will crash the essbase server during startup and can damage the secfile so.

Problem with CDF and Essbase 11.1.1
I try to use a CFD for the first time. Start with something simple, I use @JEchoString but without success. I think that the registered function OK. At least there is a message to that effect in the essbase at startup log. The calc script of syntaxes and runs without error. Base/sample data, I checked. I expected to see messages in the application log, but there is nothing other than the message that the script executed. Is there anything else I need to do? I use version 11.1.1.
