  • vmkusage: this tool is still used or available?
  • are the graphics available in the VSphere Client and VCenter modern versions of these?

  (1) for esxtop Yes it is valid and this link gives you a good tutorial. you look only in esxtop/resxtop when there is a performance http://www.yellow-bricks.com/esxtop/ problem

  (2) vmkusage is back from vcenter 2.5 update 4. It does not appear as performance under vsphere client tab.

  (3) MUI would be replaced as vcenter web app, but there is nothing much to be seen here

  all and all it's graphics performance for the vsphere client and esxtop for performance troubleshooting on my side. There are modern as vcenter operations tools if you are interested.

• I'm redoing my old logo in vector, but I get irregular paths, not smooth with the tracking tool

  I use the tracking tool of image Adobe Illustrator CS6 to redo my old logo in vector, but I receive paths are not smooth jagged. I have illustrator CS6 on Mac. I tried to break my logo into parts and then join together to make the full logo. one of the parties is an alligator, and when I tried to use the tracking of image tool, I got place sweet but not so rounded lines than I like. I want to get a nice gator with close to the original color of the original JPEG, with well rounded paths in particular around the mid-section, tail and jaw. I don't know what to do? Regarding the font used in the typigraphy in the full logo, I have it already. Help, please! Also, I do not have photoshop CS6 if necessary. ANY HELP IS VERY APPRECIATED!

  In addition to say Scott and Mike, you can:

  (1) draw the left leg first, as is it is left feet weren't there (just connect the pieces that you can do with less care on the invisible parts), you can use the fill;

  (2) draw the gator together as a single external shape (on the left leg), you can use the fill;

  (3) draw a shape that follows the upper part of the pale belly and continues in the outer form (the outer part can be established with less care;

  (4) draw the white in the eyes (the left eye may extend outside the outer form);

  (5) draw the dark-eyed;

  (6) copy the outside shape at the front, select it and the shape of the belly and Pathfinder > Intersect zones form or the harvest;

  (7) do the same for the left eye.

  To give you a taste of how to drag the tool pen, it should be an anchor at the corner of the mouth, two at the end of the lower jaw, and one where the jaw meets the neck.

  In addition (another), when you are faced with an anchor Point positioning, you can press space and move it while the handles are locked, then let go and adjust the additional handles and tap it and move and so on.

  If you're lucky, maybe just the name of the file has changed: in other words, the executable file name extension has been changed from filename.exe to filename.exec or file name. "some thing-other-than-"exe"

  IF this is the case, you can change the .exe file extension and you're gold.

• Measure the performance of machines windows 8 on windows Performance Toolkit (tool WPR)

  I want to create the basis of performance for windows 8 machines (such as the time of winlogon, time of start of office and total etc..). For this I used windows performance toolkit - WPR tool for recording or log performance (scenario of starting) data in the log file (.etl). I opened the ETL file generated using WPA (windows performance monitor), in the section dedicated to the process, always I am able to see winlogon.exe and explorer.exe lasting more than 2 minutes on different machines. When I did for windows XP(using xperf) machine winlogon.exe showing always within 30 seconds.

  Can you please let me know how I can get the correct data for the following WPR tool:

  (1) time to Winlogon (winlogon.exe)

  (2) time to Desktop (explorer.exe)

  (3) total boot time

• Problem with track tool select first Pro CC

  Dear people of first,

  a strange thing happened on my new job of first CC. The track selection tool behaves oppsite to what you expect: by default, the function is multiselect and with depressed shift is just a track (single) select and displays the ToolTip under the sequence to the SHIFT to use as select multi track. Other tools work normally, CS6 normally CC also works, on the other workstation: same question.

  I did some research on the web, but couldn't find anything useful.

  Anyone have any idea?

  This is normal.  I find a useful change.  Most of the time I want to move a group of clips, I want to move them all Flickr pictures anyway.  This eliminates the modifier key to move most of the operations.

• Essbase performance on the transition from local to san disk - steps?

  (1) is it a significant performance gain when we Essbase (essbase total folder) to say disk D:\ to drive SAN G:\ say in the same server?
  
  (2) what are the steps to perform this migration of a disk to another drive in the same machine? The procedure is different for discs moving premises to the other and a local drive on SAN drive?

  And in return, I'll steal Glenn's response - changing this setting will only create files on the new volume when the current will reach their limit of two gigabytes.

  As he writes, you will need to export, modify the settings, clear out, db shutdown, restart and import.

  I think in the future I'll just steal all the responses of Glenn as the quality of them is higher than mine on several levels. :) I already steal all his ideas/techniques/code where possible...

• Essbase performance problem

  We encounter a problem of perfromance Essbase that we don't know the root cause.
  
  We have set up a server to run Essbase with CPU core 8 and 16 GB of RAM. We found that the Essbase calculation can use up to 80% of CPU and about 8 GB of RAM only. I also checked the IO rate at the same time, but the disc loading is not very heavy. Simply, we suspect that what type of resource to the Essbase calculation engine waiting for? It's not CPU bounded, delimited, memory and I/o delimited.
  
  Do you think it can help if we keep all the database of Essbase (approximately 30 GB) in the based RAM disk drive can accelerate the performance of e/s?

  You write:

  Do you mean 80% of all eight of your CPU? This sounds safe for me CPU-bound. In fact, I wish (within reasonable limits) most of my calculations Essbase worked this way - which would be men I have caches of disck tuned on their greater efficiency.

  This means that you get the data from the drive almost as fast as possible.

  You won't be able to get in memory for two reasons:
  (1) 30 GB of. IND and. PAG. / DAT files will not fit in the addressable memory of Essbase. See: using the RAM disk to speed up the cumulative process and Essbase calculation
  (2) even when the database is nice and small and you can stick it all in a cache, uncompressed, Essbase still is 'smart' and will retain part of it on the drive to the Calc course - is not sensible in isolation, but empirically, you can monitor the use of the disc during a so-called database which is theoretically total locked in the cache and see it getting hit. This may be related to the general maintenance of Essbase - I don't know. In any case, this is usually not a case of the real world, unless you use your business on my very favorite database in the wide world - Sample.Basic.

  Or do you mean you want to define a true (and it would help if you really could allocate the real RAM and not a situation of sort-of-RAM-sort-of-DASD managed by the OS) drive RAM and Essbase point. It of bit risky, isn't it? How do you drain it of real DASD for backup? Exports?

• Tracking tool

  What is the best tool to trace use illustrator?  I'm trying to draw some cartoon animals.  Someone sent me a really nice video awhile back, I can't locate it.  I'm really new to illustrator and did very well until we had to start tracing more difficult designs.  The area that causes me problem is when I have to stop and restart.  Thanks for any help in advance.

  The pen tool is the main tool for tracing, especially for the works of art that must have a clean/clear appearance; It takes practice, but usually worth it.

  Vectorization is another option and better for some tasks, such as appearances photolike; but in some cases, cleaning of the trace paths may require more effort and may lead to inferior results.

  It may be useful to train together and decide on that basis, giving the benefit of the doubt caused by your departure to learn it to the pen tool.
