Establishment of model of best practices

Anyone know of a recommended there doc to create templates for Windows Server 2003/2008 VM.  We use ESX3.5 U2

My main question is the machine that I'm going to the model is a member of the domain.  When I create the virtual machine, I need to join the field ot to run installation routines.

Should I remove the computer from the domain before I do it a model.  All our customizations have joined to the domain.

I was told that the server being the domain when creating a model causes problems, but they could not tell me what the problems are.

Thanks again!

Do not put your models in the field.

  • Just improved m tips on best practices for sharing files on a Server 2008 std.

The field contains about 15 machines with two domain controllers, one's data is the app files / print etc...  I just upgraded from 2003 to 2008 and want to get advice on best practices for the establishment of a group of file sharing. Basically I want each user to have their their own records, but also a staff; folder. Since I am usually accustomed to using windows Explorer, I would like to know if these actions can be done in the best conditions. Also I noticed on 2008 there is a feature of contacts. How can it be used? I would like to message or send an email to users their file locations. Also, I want to implement an admin at a lower level to handle the actions without making them far in on the server, not sure.

I read a certain bbut I don't like test direct more because it can cause problems. So basically a way short and neat to manage shares using the MMC, as well as the way that I approach their mail from the server of their actions. Maybe what kind of access cintrol or permissions are suitable also for documents. Also how can I have them use office templates without changing the format of the model.

  • Code/sequence TestStand sharing best practices?

I am the architect for a project that uses TestStand, Switch Executive and LabVIEW code modules to control automated on a certain number of USE that we do.

It's my first time using TestStand and I want to adopt the best practices of software allowing sharing between my other software engineers who each will be responsible to create scripts of TestStand for one of the DUT single a lot of code.  I've identified some 'functions' which will be common across all UUT like connecting two points on our switching matrix and then take a measure of tension with our EMS to check if it meets the limits.

The gist of my question is which is the version of TestStand to a LabVIEW library for sequence calls?

Right now what I did is to create these sequences Commons/generic settings and placed in their own sequence called "Functions.seq" common file as a pseduo library.   This "Common Functions.seq" file is never intended to be run as a script itself, rather the sequences inside are put in by another top-level sequence that is unique to one of our DUT.

Is this a good practice or is there a better way to compartmentalize the calls of common sequence?

It seems that you are doing it correctly.  I always remove MainSequence out there too, it will trigger an error if they try to run it with a model.  You can also access the properties of file sequence and disassociate from any model.

I always equate a sequence on a vi and a sequence for a lvlib file.  In this case, a step is a node in the diagram and local variables are son.

They just need to include this library of sequence files in their construction (and all of its dependencies).

    Hope this helps,

  • Best Practice Guide for stacked N3024 switches

Is there a guide to BP for the configuration of the 2 N3024s stacked for the connections to the server, or is the same eql iscsi configuration guide.

    I'm trying to:

    1) reduce to a single point of failure for rack.

    (2) make good use of LACP for 2 and 4 nic server connections

    (3) use a 5224 with it's 1 lacp-> n3024s for devices of unique connection point (ie: internet router)

    TIA

    Jim...

Barrett pointed out many of the common practices suggested for stacking. The best practice is to use a loop for stacking and distributing your LAG on multiple switches in the stack, are not specific to any brand or model of the switch. The steps described in the guides of the user or the white papers generally what is the recommended configuration.
    http://Dell.to/20sLnnc

Many of the best practices scenarios will change of network-to-network based around what is currently plugged into the switch, and the independent networks needs / requirements of business. This has created a scenario where the default settings on a switch are pre-programmed for what is optimal for a fresh switch. Then recommended are described in detail in white papers for specific and not centralized scenarios in a single document of best practices that attempts to cover all scenarios.

    Express.ypH N-series switches are:
    -RSTP is enabled by default.
-Green eee-mode is disabled by default.
    -Frother is enabled by default.
-Storm control is disabled by default.

Then these things can change based on the towed gear and needs/desires of the whole of society.

For example, Equallogic has several guides that recommendations of configuration detail to different switches.
    http://Dell.to/1ICQhFX

Then on the side server, you would like to look more like the OS/server role. For example a whitepaper VMware that has some network settings proposed when running VMware in an iSCSI environment.
    http://bit.LY/2ach2I7

I suggest making a list of the technology/hardware/software, which is used on the network. Then use this list to acquire white papers for specific areas. Then use these white papers best practices in order to ensure the switch configuration is optimal for the task required by the network.

  • Best practices for the design of a printing environment?

    Greetings,

If there is a better place for this, please let me know.

    Objective:

Redesign and redeploy my printing environment with best practices in mind.

Overview: VMWare environment running 2008 R2, with about 200 printers. I have a majority of printers HP ranging from 10 years old again. LaserJet MFP, OfficeJets, etc... etc... In addition to the copiers Konica, Xerox and Savin. Many of our models of printer are not taken in charge in 2008, and still less x 64.

Our future goals include services eprint, as well as the desire to manage the print quality, and levels of consumition by something like Web Jetadmin.

Currently we have a 2003 Server x 86 server running our printers very old and 6 months ago the rest on a single x 64 server 2008r2. We ended up not giving it the attention to detail, it is necessary and pilots have become very congested, this led to a PCL6 only, UPD update that ended up corrupting several drivers through the UPD PCL 5 and 6 of the spectrum. At this time, we brought a second server 2008r2 and began to emigrate to those affected. In some cases, we were forced to remove manually the drivers off the customer system32-> coil-> driver and reinstall.

I've not had much luck finding good best practice information and thought I'd ask. Some documents I came across suggested that I should isolate a universal driver to a single server, such as 3 servers for PCL5, PCL6, and Psalm then, there is the need to deal with my various copiers.

I appreciate your advice, thank you!

  • OEM 12 c Best Practice follow-up 11.1 DB RAC env. + datagurd

OEM 12 c 5 release is the only monitoring in our environment... is there a better model of practice on what aspects need to be monitored and their default values?

This doc for 12 c DB is very useful, it's best practices for high availability. They talk a lot about the RAC/DG monitoring.  https://docs.Oracle.com/database/121/HABPT/monitor.htm#HABPT003

version 11.2 is here https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10803/monitor.htm#g1011041, I read them both though, as there are some new features in version 12 c who may still apply to 11 g.

Regarding the parameters/models go, if you create a template of the target type (monitoring sc_results.php-> create-select target type-> type > select category/target), this will include all the parameters of the type of target (including the CEO) and as close as you'll have to 'default thresholds' Oracle.  It is the best branch of the teams effort produced.   Of course, they will not be perfect for everyone, but it's a starting point!

  • I can work on after effects being coded by best practices and Media Encoder file

I just found out that after effects files can be returned outside the program using the media encoder.  I had been made in after effects of .mov, then open the file in photoshop to render the .mov to a mp4.  Not the process faster, but it worked.  If I use media encoder to make my legacy model would still be able to work in AfterEffects and edit and save the file rendered in media encoding, or it is locked?  I hear also the media encoder is slower than the after effects encoder.  What are the best practices for a comp sequelae which makes a mp4 (h264)?  Thank you...

Depending on what you do the SOUL can be slower than using index rendering, but that's the only thing that you must use to make H.264 files.

When you send a model to the SOUL a virtual copy of this composition that is the source for this rendering. You can continue to work on the same computer and additional changes but if you want these changes appears you will need to send this model to the SOUL again after making the changes.

Almost without exception, I'm working on plans not and certainly never movies sequences in After Effects. My average computer is probably seven seconds, my average film is probably 30 minutes so I use AE to work on plans for effects which cannot be treated in my NLE. I almost always send a model to the SOUL to render a h.264 or a suitable production master, or both, and then I continue working in AE because I can't afford to wait for a rendering time. On almost all of it is the more efficient workflow.

  • Best practices on the number of decision-making at the bean

    Hi people,

Here I use Jdev 11.1.1.7.0. where I have a case take the count on lines that are inserted in the bean.

    Here we go...

    The bean code

    developer way 1:
    button_click(){
    int count = voins.getRowcount();
    }

    developer way 2:
    button_click(){
    int count = iteratorbind.getEstimatedRowcount();
    }

Developer tracks 1: view object fetch at the bean intended to take the number of lines.

-Developer 1 said that best practices on taking into account is to use the view «getRowcount()» object

Note: the developer 1 2 from that developer comment is further practice. It is a time process is necessary

2-way Developer: using iterator to get the number of lines

-Director 2 indicates, for the County, can we use "estimatedRowcount".

Note: the developer commentary 2 Developer 1 way is worse practice taking the view the bean object.

Developer it is 1, try to catch the model layer directly from code. We can use the iterator to do all the stuff.

What is the best practice please suggest me is there any other practice taking the number of lines in the bean.

    Thank you.

    Path dev 1)

A glance in the java doc reveals

Note that this method retrieves all rows from the database, and then returns the number of rows in the row set collection.

So, if your table contains a large number of component getRowCount lines takes a lot of time and memory.

    Way 2 dev)

Call getEstimatedRowCount runs a count (*) selection (your query) to get the number. It's fast, but the number of task may be different if multiple changes are made on the table. I personally never had a problem with that, but I can't speak for you.

  • Best practices for placing < meta > tags of the document HEAD

    Good afternoon

We use the ability of Oracle UCM to dynamically generate pages based on page templates, model region and data files of contributor contributors can edit and publish. We have a specific need to include meta tags in the head section of each page that are customized for the data present in each contributor data file. Including meta tags in the model of the region that relates to a section of our site Web do not work, because it does not include a < head > section. Otherwise, I can't put metatags in the page template, since the data contained in each meta tag are specific to the metadata surrounding each contributor of the data file.

My question is this: is there a best practice, or Oracle-taking method in charge of this task? I believe he remains the path to get there, as is a very common need for meta tags for search engines and social media sites.

  • Best practices for vSphere 5 Networking

    Hi all

    Given the following environment:

    (1) 4 physical servers, each server has 16 (Gigabit) network interface cards will install vSphere 5 std.

    (2) 2 switches with SAN storage battery function

    (3) 2 Equallogic PS4000 SAN (two controllers)

    (4) 2 switches for the traffic of the virtual machine

As for networking, I intend create some vSwitches on each physical server as follows

    1 vSwitch0 - used for iSCSI storage

6 network adapters are associated with IP-hash, multitracks with iSCSI Storage consolidation policy. and storage load balancing is round Rodin (vmware)

(vmware suggests to use 2 cards for 1 traget of IP storage, I'm not sure)

2 vSwitch1 - used for the virtual machine

6 Teamed network adapters for the traffic of the virtual machine, with the hash intellectual property policy

    3 vSwitch2 - management

    2 network cards are associated

    4 vSwitch3 - vMotion

    2 network cards are associated

You would like to give me some suggestions?

Alex, the standard set by the storage and VMware is used by dell for their servers and tested sound on their equipment and the publication of the document, it is recommended...

This sound is the best practice for dell server with this model mentioned in the document to use.

    Hope that clarifies...

  • Best practices for tags

    Hello

In the bundled applications Tags are used in most applications. For example. in App Customer Tracker, we can add tags to a customer where these tags are stored in a varchr2 column in the Customers Table.
In my case, I've pre-defined tags real estate (Real Estate) in a table of research called TAGS. For example, Full floor, furnished, equipped, duplexes, attached... What is the best practice for tag properties:
1 - to store these tags in a varchar column in the table of PROPERTIES using the Shuttle box.
    OR
    2. to store in a third table Eg, PROPERTIES_TAGS (ID PK, FK property-ID, TAG_ID FK), then use the LISTAGG function to show tags in one line in the report properties.
    OR
    You have a better option?

    Kind regards
    Fateh

    Fateh says:

In my case, I've pre-defined tags real estate (Real Estate) in a table of research called TAGS. For example, Full floor, furnished, equipped, duplexes, attached...

These seem to be two different use cases. In the bundled applications tags allow end users to join free-form metadata to the data for their own needs (they are sometimes called "folk taxonomies"). Users can use tags for different purposes or different tags for the same purpose. For example, I could add 'Wednesday', 'Thursday' or 'Friday' tags customers because these are the days that they receive their deliveries. For the same purpose, you could mark the same customers '1', '8' and '15' by the numbers of road trucks making deliveries. You can use 'Monday' to indicate that the client is closed on Mondays...

In your application you assign to the known properties of predefined attributes. It is a model of standard attribute 1:M. their view using the metaphor of the label is not equivalent to the user of free-form tags.

What is the best practice for tag properties:
1 - to store these tags in a varchar column in the table of PROPERTIES using the Shuttle box.

If you do this, how can you:

  • Search for furnished duplex properties effectively?
  • Change in the world "mounted" to "integrated"?
  • Ratio of the number of properties, broken down by full floor, double-sided, equipped...

    OR
    2. to store in a third table Eg, PROPERTIES_TAGS (ID PK, FK property-ID, TAG_ID FK), then use the LISTAGG function to show tags in one line in the report properties.

As Why use Look up Table, shows the correct way to proceed. It allows the data to be indexed for efficient extraction, and issues such as those above should be dealt with simply by using joins and grouping.

You might want to examine the possibility of eliminating the PK ID and use an index table organized for this.

    OR
    You have a better option?

I'd also look carefully your data model. Make sure that you're not flirting with the anti-pattern VAE. Some/all of these values are not simply the attributes on the property?

  • 10 GB NIC redundancy-Best Practice

    Hi all

I have now deployed successfully to the 5 different poles of vSphere using 4 x 1 GB network adapters on all servers to ESX/ESXi hosts. I used 2 active/passive NIC in vSwitch0 vMotion and network management traffic (or Service Console for ESX) and used 2 active/active NIC in vSwitch1 for VM traffic as shown below. The uplinks are using 802. 1 q trunks in redundant Cisco switches.

We are now moving to 10 GB networks. I have the opportunity to use this same design of map NETWORK 4 (using the HP Flex 10 vNIC or cards Cisco Palo) or go with a simpler model of map NETWORK 2. What is the recommended best practice to separate VMkernel Port and port VM group traffic among the physical network interface cards? Any suggestions or links to published documents would be greatly appreciated of VMware.

    Thank you!

    ScreenHunter_01 Mar. 04 14.32.jpg

Take a look at my post here.  https://www.myciscocommunity.com/message/63033#63033

Can help you with your design questions.  There is also a generic 'best practice' guide for 10G networks & VMware environments.

As Cisco I obviously partial to the Palo adapter.  Unlike the Flex-10 option you set up not a bandwidth 'max' virtual NETWORK card, rather, you set a guarantee min. for each virtual host NIC given that you can create multiple network cards virtual with Palo, you can create one for VMotion, VM data, IP storage, etc. and define your QoS guarantees quickly & easily while offering redundancy with the recovery of host-transparent fabric.

Let us know if you have specific questions about a deployment.

    Kind regards

  • best practices of grid of alert

    Hello

    I'm using the grid v11g

I want the grid to use out of monitoring for all targets, but when it comes to I want to receive notification only for the subset of these elements (as well as two or three different items that are not enabled in the framework of the outside the surveillance zone), notifications by e-mail

What is - this is the best approach to implement this?

below is the only way and effective way to do it?

1 create the model for each target types (IE host_temp, db_temp...) by using the existing button "create as" to clone existing templates provided by oracle as "Oracle provided host model", I guess that's the oracle of model used for out of area of surveillance? and then add my own metrics to model.
    2. create notification rules (one per target type), limit the rules to only those measures which I want to be informed

    Thank you

Yes, it's the General method to do so.
