ESX 3i U4-153875 and AMD Phenom 9650 - moved

Hello world

I just built a new white box for virtualization, using an image AMD Phenom 9650, 8 GB memory and disk SATA 2 to. The motherboard is a Gigabyte MA78GPM-UD2H.

Unfortunately, the boot to CD process crashes just after the vmkernel initialization (10% through the progress bar).

He stops forever, and if I press the power button on the box I get an error report who moans about the process do not get a response from some of the carrots.

Someone at - he tried / succeeded to install on this chip/motherboard combo.   The Phenom/96xx series isn't even in the HCL.  I know that the material is ok cos CentOS installs and works fine.

I just bought something that is too recent for the current support 3i?

Thank you

Update 2 was the last version that works here.  Nothing will not be installed, or as I noticed, once it is installed to U2 and upgraded, it will no longer work.

The processor have a test as well?  The reason why I ask is Reset of Bus PCI 1394 test is separate from the processor and belongs to the motherboard subcategory.

1394 is usually a firewire port.  The system has a firewire port?

According to the following picture, #4 is the firewire port.

Based on the results of the test, the FireWire has failed (or train to fail).  If it is something that you do not use, then I'd be too concerned about it.  The only solution that I know would be to replace the motherboard in his together which may be more it would be interesting if the port is not used.

If the BIOS has the ability to disable (some systems, some do not), then you can disable the port all together and he can jump the device as BIOS should report it as disabled.  I note that most of the systems do not have this option.

Let me know if that answers your question.

  • AMD Athlon X 2 64 5800 + and AMD Phenom 940 quad not Core than a single core shows on Vista

I am running MS Windows Vista Edition home premium on a motherboard ASUS M3A78-CM very w / AMD Phenom II x 4 940 3.0 Ghz 6 MB Quad Core, 2 GB of RAM.  It is an upgrade to an AMD Athlon 64 X 2 5800 + 3.0 Ghz.  The two see the single core cpu in the Task Manager, cpuz, msconfig, etc..  However, the BIOS displays 1 physical cpu w / 4 logical processors.  In addition, the reason for which I have not even noticed the problem, is that I play a resource intensive game called Crysis Wars and my fps SUCK.  This led me to the problem.  Wars started, the console displays only a single core as well during the detection of the spu.  I need to know if the game software is read directly from the hardware OR of Vista.

I have tried everything to fix the problem, including the use of msconfig to clear the number of processors, select detect HAL, reboot, etc.  Did not work.  I suspect that this is a license live upward, from Microsoft, but will not know until I have install another OS to test.  My next move (when I can afford it) is to install XP or Linux to see if these operating systems can detect all four cores.  If it works then I know it's the fault of Vista.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated as my frustration level is through the roof with it.  Thank you.

Try updating the BIOS with the latest version: 2801 BIOS M3A78-CM.  This can easily be performed using ASUS Update V7.16.01 for Windows XP / XP 64-bit/Vista/Vista 64-bit. Carey Frisch

  • ESXi 4 with AMD phenom x 3 720 and M3A78-EM motherboard (minor problem)

    Hello

I'm quite new in the world of vmware. I have successfully used this combo whitebox for about 6 months. In order to have a successful install, I had to update my bios to ver 2003 and use pcie nic cards intel. After a successful installation, I looked inside the host, and he acknowledged the CPU X 3 720 with all 3 CPU cores. It also allowed me to assign all 3 hearts to a box of windows media 7 I have set up as an image on the host computer. The question and the problem I have is: in the new windows 7 x 64 image, it does not show 3-wire, it shows only 2 hearts. Detailed information inside the say that Windows 7 is an AMD phenom X 3 2.81Gz processor with 2 processors, not 3. In the Task Manager, the window of cpu usage shows only 2 windows instead of 3.

Two processors are much for this image will do, but it would be nice to use all 3 CPUs, if possible.

No matter what I try, I can't get windows 7 to recognize all 3 hearts. Even after I try all the stuff online, including the re - install, it's not even a hint of success.

I have concluded that the vmware bios used for images, does not correctly recognize the CPU with 3 hearts. Am I correct in my assumption?

    Thank you

Seems that I was mistaken with the number of vCPU that you can assign to a Windows 7 VM.

However, the vCPU is presented as the virtual machine CPU sockets and Windows 7 only supports 2 physical CPU (Starter and Home 1 only). This looks so much like Windows ignores the third CPU. View the comparison to compare features of Windows 7. Search for "physical processor Support.

If you have a licensed version of ESX (i) you could try the currently unsupported feature to assign the vCPU 3 as a multi-core CPU.

  • I have a HP G5210UK and I was wondering if an AMD Phenom II X 4 945 work

I currently have a HP G5210UK and there a motherboard M2N68-(Narra6), so I was wondering if an AMD Phenom II X 4 945 would work.

    I also wonder if Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) DDR3 SDRAM would work.

    Li4m53, welcome to the forum.

According to HP, the CPU should be fine.  See the section called "Information processor upgrade".

Any standard ATX power supply unit (PSU) should work correctly in the computer.  I always suggest measuring the PSU existing and comparing measures to one that is chosen.  This ensures you that there is no problem.  I have like Corsair or OCZ PSU.

This is recommended by Memory Crucial for computer memory.  Crucial makes good reasonable price of memory.  Recommended memory is guaranteed to work or they will replace it no extra cost for you.  You will only be able to use 4 GB of memory, as the computer came with Win7 32 bit.

Note: See the "memory" upgrade information here.

  • AMD Phenom II x 6 processor?

    Hello

While ordering a new desktop machine.

For a year or two we will probably move our servers to ESXi I thought I would try to install on my new desktop computer and run my 'pc' in a virtual machine, then I can familiarize yourself with the product. I also run a couple of virtual servers to try stuff on this machine.

The pc, I thought I would use a processor "AMD Phenom II X 6 1090 t." (good price over the year with 6 cores), but I don't know if it will work with ESX.

    Anyone know?

Or is it a bad idea to use ESX on office?

    Thank you, Bryce.

  • HP 6005-t: AMD Phenom II X 6 1090 t. Black Edition in a HP 6005-T motherboard?

This model is the full size PC 6005-T and I'd like to put my amd ahtlon x 6 1090 t. inside. I know that there could be a problem if it does not FIT because of 938 pines against 939 so I'd be careful to see that he does and maybe a power issue 95w (?) but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a x 6 can work since x4s make as much. This is the AMD Phenom II X 6 1090 t. Black Edition (3.2 GHz) that uses 104 vs 92 watts idle (?) according to some website. Apparently, it's 125 watt TDP.

    Thank you.

AMD Black Edition CPU are generally not supported by motherboards with AMD platforms desktop PC. BIOS support just isn't there.

The same thing applies when someone plans to use a processor Intel Extreme CPU for a desktop with an Intel platform.

Support the card mother socket AM3 CPU, but not all.

See the list of compatible processors from AMD for motherboard of your desktop in the following HP Web document.

  • Upgrade my CPU AMD Phenom II x 4 910 to a Phenom II x 4 980 on a H-RS880-Μatx (Aloe)

I have a HP Pavillion e9220y which I would like to make a few CPU and GPU upgrade.

I did some research and saw that the current processor (AMD Phenom II x 4 910 (2.6 ghz)) can be upgraded to the AMD Phenom II x 4 980 (3.7 ghz) cpu.  I also intend on the old graphics card (Radeon HD 4350) in switching to a Radeon 7850.

I tried to see if I needed to update my bios before install the new processor and I couldn't find a suggestion in the section Support & drivers specific to the HP Web site for my model computer.  The HP site says that he would suggest somehow if an update was available.

Do you think I can just proceed with the switch of CPU (and the radiator and the stages of thermal paste of course) without flashing new bios?

The old Bios simply would work with the new processor (faster processing speed)?

The current Bios on my system is ' American Megatrends, Inc. 5.04, 10/01/2009 "and SMBIOS version 2.6

Thanks for all the help you can give me,

    Hello

I recently bought the quadruple-heart phenom x 4 125w 9950 and wanted to update my one heart amd sempron 140.

I bought with the intention to upgrade my compaq presario cq5500f so that I can use it as a gaming pc.

However, when I put the cpu in the pc it says no "supported installed Cpu" and then it stops automatically after.

Is this a driver problem? Is this a bios problem? Is this a problem of design of thermal power?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here IS THE page of the motherboard and the choice of the CPU.  He says that the CPU should be TDP: 95W processor said is the AMD Phenom X 4 9950, which is a 125W CPU.  I suspect that's the reason why the BIOS claims not supported CPU.  OEM motherboards are picky about the card like that.
