ESXi 3.5u4 custom 4.0i custom Dell upgrade Dell

Last year, I deployed ESXi 3.5u4 Dell Customized version on a client server.

I want to update now for ESXi 4.0 Dell custom. Is it as simple when you run the upgrade according to the normal methods?

Is there a special version for ISO notes custom Dell?

Thank you

    Hi all

We have a doubt about the normal migration of Esxi to Cisco Custom Esxi,

    Could you help us please?

The procedure looks like a normal esxi update?

We would be able to deploy windows and other OS VM in the Cisco Custom Esxi?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Kind regards.

The difference between relase OEM Cisco ESXi 6.0 and VMware ESXi 6.0, is that the former has installed its own version of enic/fnic drivers for UCS.

You can install the ISO for VMware and then update drivers enic/fnic according to the Cisco interoperability matrix: http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

  • 5.1 ESXi does not connect after installing - R720 Dell

I installed ESXi 5.1 update 1 on a Dell R720 server. The installation was made using ISO provided custom in the Dell site.

After installation I can't connect or ping to the machine.

After SSH-ing to the host via the console I could see that the host can ping to its own IP address, but not of its front door.

Is this a problem with the network Dell drivers?

Information: There are 4 network cards. All are Gigabit Ethernet of Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5720 cards.

esxcfg-NICS - l gave me the output below:

    Esxi 5.1.JPG

    Please help me with this.

    Hello

You should check the configuration of your network management. If the IP, subnet mask, gateway, DNS are correctly configured and if it it set to vmnic3, as it is the only NIC you connected.

If everything is correct, I would check the physical switch of the server config is connected to. Maybe the port is blocked or a bad local VIRTUAL network is configured.

  • ESXi hosts disconnected/no response in Vcenter after upgrade (4.1 = > 5.5)

Hello. I'm upgrading our current infra (hosts/Essential licensing Vcenter / 3 ESXi 4.1).  vCenter Server has been upgraded OK, so I started to esxi upgrade hosts one by one.

Upgrade process is OK, but after the reboot, upgrade marked as "not responding" in vsphere client server. I could ping this host and connect via ssh.

When you try to reconnect the client host, got a strange error "this edition of vCenter only supports 3 host (s) in the inventory. After 3-4 hours of nothing to host

has begun to show ok. After upgrading a second host, the same situation. I don't understand, how to solve it without waiting for another 4 hours.

Restart of host management agents does not help.

I remember I have a similar situation in the past where the number of licenses does not update as expected, i.e. required some time. What helped was to restart the server vCenter Server in my case. Maybe worth a try!

  • Is it possible to upgrade 5.5 to custom Dell 5.5 Ao1 esxi esxi?

We have a Dell R410 wich has been improved from 4.1 to 5.5, the regular installation cd has been used instead of a Dell custom one.

Q: is it possible to upgrade the current installation with the version of Dell (including the necessary drivers..)?

I'm sorry - you were clearly the first time. I'm just not well enough "read.

I can talk to a using a CD Manual installation method.  It works very well to keep your existing configuration.  When we give you the opportunity to choose, just be sure to choose the upgrade option.

If you find that the drivers has not installed by using this method, retrieve it from the Dell ISO (or download them directly) and use the command esxcli vib install software or Update Manager.

    I hope this helps.

  • Reference custom Dell or any custom provider image for ESX4i?

    Hello

I have just tested our plan of ESXi 3.5 to 4i upgrade and found that, with the standard VMware ESX4i image, it is a customized version of Dell. Initially I thought that Dell customized version has been so that you can install the Dell OpenManage components and therefore a test settled with that. I installed the Dell OpenManage software and everything worked fine.

I then decided to install even with the standard VMware ESX4i image just to see if the Dell OpenManage installation work and once again everything worked well.

The only difference I see between the standard VMware image and the customized version of Dell is Dell image has a date of construction a little later and does not need patches as well as the version of VMware.

So, what's the point of these custom versions? If your server is on the HCL list, then the standard image should be absolutely perfect for what is in the Dell custom version?

    Thank you

    Rob

Look in the tab 'health '. The difference between the custom versions are agents to monitor the health of the additional components of your servers.

  • False customer Dell technical support call

I received 3 calls from phishing to an offshore organization claiming to be Dell customer Suppor and tries to scam me for giving them access to my computer.

Monday, someone called me from the number 499-492-6931 and presented themselves as Sam, a Dell Technical Support, with an Indian accent. They explained on my Dell computer software they noticed that everything in is not infected my computer had received a number of attacks recently and to better protect what they wanted to do some features of Windows 'RUN' that may include typing "eventvwr" in the Run dialog box.

As she asked me to do this I Googled what she told me that I don't want unsolicited calls and immediately saw the warnings 'SCAM' in descriptions of all URLS that appear in the lists of Google. I told him I knew it was a scam and that I ended the call and hung up.

Apparently, they think that I'm very stupid, or now identified my number as a user of Dell PC and today I received two calls. Both of 800-254-1254. They have left a voice message that is involuntary where an Indian woman is laughing with his colleague on the first and 2, I replied and told her that I knew she was trying to rip me off and she hung up immediately.

I don't know if Dell can work with the telephone companies to block these calls, and maybe try to see who owns to chase these people. They are now an embarrassment to me because they have my number and ask me repeatedly.  Unfortunately, there are people for fall, the elderly in particular who could be more confident.

    Good fishing!

I doubt that Dell can block these scammers, unfortunately. I get phone calls from time to time. They ask usually you can open the event viewer, which shows always insignificant 'mistakes' to demonstrate that you have problems exist. Their goal is to make you turn the remote control of your PC.

The fact is that neither Dell nor Microsoft can remotely monitor your PC from infections or other problems (except if you permit). All these calls saying cold also are scams.

Although these callers often have thick foreign accents, I saw recent reports of the appellants with no accent, likely from the North America.

I'm having fun with these crooks. When I acknowledge number a crook in the calls view, I respond with ' 911 - what is the nature of your emergency? Or I'll play dumb and string them along for wasting their time. Sooner or later they will get the message and leave you alone.

  • ESXi 5 HP Custom Image Serialnumber

    Hello @all

I accidentally crushed the serial number of my iso custom hp ESXi with a paid license of another server. If I want to return to the free serilnumber of HP for this host. Where can I find the serial number again for the free ISO HP? Do I have to re - install the server to get the original hp serial key?

    Thanks for a quick response

    Welcome to the community,

HP does not provide their own license keys for ESXi, you can use the key for the free hypervisor.

  • ESXi rules compliance - custom template - vs model

I asked a similar question in the past, but about the creation of a model of compliance, customized for our company...

It was recommended that when running a check of compliance with the default template of ESXi, I should create "exceptions" for controls that have failed.

My question is, in fact could not change the rules so they correspond to what we are looking for our company?  In this way these controls will always occur and should not create an 'exception' for them.

    Thank you

Virtual environment is for vCenter properties, properties of the host, properties of container of comments (allocation of resources and reserves, copy and paste enabled, etc.) and a variety of data of vCloud Director and vCloud network and security (formerly vShield).

Compliance of the machine is for internal data or physical machines, OS like versions of files, service configuration, software installed, data security strategy, the data of the register, the patch status and so on.

PS the main square, that they are together is when you use VCM to report compliance rollup information to vCenter Operations Manager. This is where a guest will have data compliance for this container properties and functioning internal OS grouped into a high level of compliance risk score.

  • How can I move my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7? Custom or upgrade?

Hi, I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Windows Vista 32 bit, I bouht a Windows 7 Family pack upgrade, my computer has this partition of the hard drive C: 220 GB and RECOVERY D: 10 GB.

I want to know that if I do the install as upgrade, it will keep the same partition of hard drive?

If that's enough, this partition of Windows 7, or should I do a large partition?

If I copy the D: RECOVERY files, do a factory image restore in the future?

I have some other doubts that I ask after this ones.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Walter,

Dell has not yet, I bought the W7 dell family pack,

Let me tell you what I did, I opened the D: RECOVERY and copy all the content in an external hard drive just in case where I don't know (I don't know how to do the recovery disc).

I copy all my files on the same portable hard drive, and then I make an original image to restore.

I update W Vista until Service Pack 2 and now I try to install the Windows 7 upgrade, but I don't know how to do and if I do which is how I had to do.

I have the reistalation W Vista 32 bit of dell DVD.

Let me ask you something when you said: ' make an upgrade should keep the same data programs and settings, etc ", do you mean that when I do the upgrade of the partition of the factory will be the same after the upgrade?

copy the files from an external hard drive recovery and create a disc from there will not allow you to use them to reinstall vista

Ask how to do recovery dell discs

    read my 1 answer

and make the windows 7 upgrade was referring to the installation of windows 7 as an upgrade to vista on partition of 220gbs

for any other installatiion windows 7 questions to ask in the Sub forum to install windows 7

"Download Windows 7 installed and activated on your PC."

    good luck with it

  • VMWare ESXi 3.5U4 - reboot remove SSH Keys

    Hi all

I have a server ESXi I'm SSH'ing to. I have generated a public/private key pair. I know it is not supported... but I have a need to do so. I followed the instructions on the creation of the server's .ssh directory and put the keys in there.

Unfortunately, it seems that, after a restart (initiated through the VI Client), the keys were gone, so that any file that was not part of the original installation. I guess is the expected behavior. But, how is it possible solution so that I can continue to connect to the server without password?

    Thank you!

You can added your SSH keys to oem.tgz to keep your changes, take a look at this page: http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/customize_oem_tgz.php

  • ESXi 3.5u4 PSODing.  Have screenshot.  What it could mean?

I was running 3.5u3 ESXi on a tailored white square.  The specifications are the following:

    • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3 GHz

    • Memory: 8 GB DDR2 800

    • NIC: 2 Intel PWLA8391GT PCI NIC GiGE and 3 Intel GigE NIC PCIe EXPI9300PTBLK

The boot drive is a Western Digital Caviar 250 GB SATA drive, but I guess that it is largely irrelevant.  Virtual machines live on a server NFS so the local hard disk is just used to start ESXi and swap space.  All this material is supposed to work with ESXi.  I even stuck with all the stuff from Intel to increase the chances that I have does not work in some strange incompatibility problem (at least in my mind I thought ESXi would work better with Intel).

3.5u3 ESXi running on this subject, I had, and it would be mysteriously purple-screen-of-death at seemingly random times.  Instead of trying to figure out why, I decided to simply upgrade to u4.  Unfortunately, he PSODs too.  Here is a URL to a screenshot of it (sorry, photo incorporating the function seems to be broken at the moment):

    http://I131.Photobucket.com/albums/p294/TicKsPics/PSOD-4222009.jpg

So, it seems that I might have some memory bum plugged it.  I have a Memtest86 on it when I first built it.  I runs a memory on this subject right now while I'm typing this.  I hope that's all it is.  If this isn't the problem, then I am at a loss of what to do next.  I guess I could try to Flash the BIOS for the latest and best.  Anyone else have ideas?

Is this GROUP when starting or in the mess after?

  • ESXi 4.1 U1 to 5.0 - Clarifications upgrade upgrade

Thanks to ESXi 4.1 U1, I get the now familiar 'warning' custom VIBs are installed:

    • OEM-VMware-ESX-Drives-net-vxge
    • OEM-VMware-ESX-Drives-SCSI-3W-9xxx

The guests I want to spend to ESXi 5.0 fortunately do not have this hardware.  Upgrade options I have are:

    • Force to migrate ESXi, preserve the VMFS datastore
    • Upgrade to ESXi, preserve the VMFS datastore

Question 1: Which option of upgrade would you give guys to think that I use for the upgrade to ESXi 5.0 and preserve my datastore (best practices)?  The formulation "moving force" doesn't sound good.

Question 2: Is it true that none of these options will spend my store of data existing VMFS 3.0 to 5.0?

The option "Force migrate" will make an upgrade to preserve the VMFS and migrating your settings (network configuration,...) while the installation option will install an own ESXi - also with the VMFS intact - but without migrate your configuration.

  • ESXi 4.1 requires new license keys when upgrading to 4.0?

    Hello

Just read the documentation, and she said:

For ESXi, upgrade to ESXi 4.1 retains almost all configuration data, including your networks, security.

and configuration of storage. The only configuration not retained is about the license, because a new ESXi 4.1

license is required after the upgrade.

Is this true even when upgrading to 4.0?
