False customer Dell technical support call

I received 3 calls from phishing to an offshore organization claiming to be Dell customer Suppor and tries to scam me for giving them access to my computer.

Monday, someone called me from the number 499-492-6931 and presented themselves as Sam, a Dell Technical Support, with an Indian accent. They explained on my Dell computer software they noticed that everything in is not infected my computer had received a number of attacks recently and to better protect what they wanted to do some features of Windows 'RUN' that may include typing "eventvwr" in the Run dialog box.

As she asked me to do this I Googled what she told me that I don't want unsolicited calls and immediately saw the warnings 'SCAM' in descriptions of all URLS that appear in the lists of Google. I told him I knew it was a scam and that I ended the call and hung up.

Apparently, they think that I'm very stupid, or now identified my number as a user of Dell PC and today I received two calls. Both of 800-254-1254. They have left a voice message that is involuntary where an Indian woman is laughing with his colleague on the first and 2, I replied and told her that I knew she was trying to rip me off and she hung up immediately.

I don't know if Dell can work with the telephone companies to block these calls, and maybe try to see who owns to chase these people. They are now an embarrassment to me because they have my number and ask me repeatedly.  Unfortunately, there are people for fall, the elderly in particular who could be more confident.

Good fishing!

I doubt that Dell can block these scammers, unfortunately. I get phone calls from time to time. They ask usually you can open the event viewer, which shows always insignificant 'mistakes' to demonstrate that you have problems exist. Their goal is to make you turn the remote control of your PC.

The fact is that neither Dell nor Microsoft can remotely monitor your PC from infections or other problems (except if you permit). All these calls saying cold also are scams.

Although these callers often have thick foreign accents, I saw recent reports of the appellants with no accent, likely from the North America.

I'm having fun with these crooks. When I acknowledge number a crook in the calls view, I respond with ' 911 - what is the nature of your emergency? Or I'll play dumb and string them along for wasting their time. Sooner or later they will get the message and leave you alone.

  • INSIDE JOB "DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT" BASED IN INDIA HAS A SCAM

    Hello

I am writing because I was the victim of what I believe, it's a "Dell inside job" in this scam of technical support for users of computers Dell off warranty or expired support based in INDIA. I've been a customer of DELL since 2003, was always the best technology support without problem, even when I called once about 7 years ago they cleaned up my computer for $49.00 which was ok with me without any problem. I bought an all in one computer in 2012, with 3 years of support. My problem started when I called DELL April 2016 of course didn't help because my computer was not covered, they wanted me to pay $89.00 a service of time, at this time there what I wanted was to get my computer to windows 8.1, I wasn't happy with 10, my computer was working fine. A week later, I started getting calls from ladies with Hindu accent claiming to be from Dell who want to help me fix my computer. I was always busy, and I told them that I not had time to seat 2 hours to do. They called it forth, until the day exactly a 29/08/16 months ago, I had the time to fix my computer slow and accepted their offer. He gave his guarantee Id # DELL9929 its name: Eric Thomas with a Hindu accent, I asked him: are you really from Dell? He reassured me that it was, they were getting signals from my computer that something was wrong. I thought because my computer after this call in April started to have more and more slow. He wanted to have access to my computer which is the only way they can fix it, I gave him access he installed an internet to analyze and clean security program call them KAPERSKY, he began to clear the files etc. According to him clean my computer. I made it clear I was not buying anything, he said no worries we do it because we have too many alerts to your computer. He told me he was going to monitor my computer for a week that he will call me Monday. I didn't go on my bank account or check e-mails because I felt that they looked at me, but instead of Monday he called me on Friday, so I told her that I don't have confidence in him. As soon as I hung up to 02/09/16 I called said Dell TECH SUPPORT what happened, to my great surprise this Hindu guy named Muthu Chidambaram Service Request: 935549938 has acted as he was aware of the scam, told me he's going to clean my computer for $89.00 service time or $239.00 per year. He also told me that I needed better security that he had one that was best for $249.99. I paid the $89.00 did not buy anything, but when I went to the Dell website to find a security software they had some for as low as $14,99 as it was the labor day weekend. I wonder why he tried to sell me one so expensive? As soon as I suspended with DELL, I went into my email to find that I had been charged by PayPal $450,00 leave DEN SUPPORT, called 801-829-7424 # imposter ask my money back either. PayPal and my Bank got my money, but it does not stop there. Why do I say is an inside job? 5 days after calling DELL TECH taking charge on 02/09/16, once again I received a call to a different number I gave only Muthu to contact me in case we were disconnected my phone Earth when it was fix my computer, the guy also Hindu told me exactly the same thing others had said in so many calls : They received signals. After you fix my computer Muthu asked me to respond to his email if I had more problems with my computer. My computer started acting again when I answered by Muthu email because I need help, he never responded, but when I called the 09/09/16 DELL SUPPORT because my computer was not at beginning, they wanted me to pay again, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, Rajeev (name of Tech) told me I had to pay $39.00 to talk to a supervisor which is something that I have never heard in my life, dealing with many companies. I was upset and told him they were running a scam, an inside job of the technical support because everyone involved was based in India, I told Rajeev history and he said that I was going to go further. 13/09/16, I got a call from DELL, a supervisor called Hindu Dave too, not too sweet. I told him about the scam from inside DELL, suddenly, he said: "I can refund your $89.00, you can call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT so they can fix your computer". I got the $89.00. My computer does not work. I'm afraid to call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT because they do the same thing again, their scam's with Dell Support off users guaranteed because they can make money in this way. I think they get a bonus if they sell us more, so our computer will never work as they should, because they want to keep us reminded. If we fall into their trap, like I did, you call DELL to fix our computer every time. A SCAM. They have our computer tag #, all of our personal information. Scary. I think the enamel of Muthu, I answered, was something that has infected my computer. Long story, but true.

  • (Redirected) Poor Dell technical support

My modem was replaced in mid-December.  So I had difficulties to connect to my printer wirelessly to my Dell laptop.  I contacted the technical support Dell - main error.  After a price of $199.99 and five hours on the phone with them for two days, it still didn't work.  I not ask for their return.  At the end of the 1st phone call (3-4 hours), they thought they had everything and test printed a Notepad doc.  At one point the tech support rep placed me on video without asking if I was ok with that.  Total invasion of privacy!  Later in the day when I tried to print I got "paper mismatch".  Most of the paper size options were in millimeters.  The next day I called the technical support again.  He wanted to redo everything that had been done the day before.  After about an hour I told him that I have more time to deal with him, I was on a deadline.  I had to drive to my work to print the information that I needed.  Following all the delays caused by Technical Support, I did not finish my work until 02:00 I have not never will contact Tech support again.  I will use a local person.  I expect Dell to have a support department impressive considering the quality of their computer products.  Worst customer service I have ever received.

I got an Alienware M14x end may, 2013. A few months, about 3 pixels grilled and a USB port stops working. Instead of just replace parts and sending it to me, they're sending me a 4th gen 14 Alienware, brand new, top-of-the-line. It was but a curse in disguise. 4 months in the use of this 14 Alienware, I noticed that the Ethernet port (which I never use) was not working when the only option to connect to a certain location was Ethernet. So, here I am, 06/17/14, call them, and they say that the computer is out of warranty, which is silly because with a new computer comes a new warranty. I will try to have my money refunded and replace my game machine with another manufacturer. I heard that some MSI computers are very good...

    This is false.

When a Dell computer is replaced with a new one under warranty, it does not come with a new guarantee, he assumes the existing security of the computer being replaced, including the expiry date of the guarantee.

  • (Redirected) Painful interaction with Dell technical support

Before Thanksgiving 2015 my computer started having problems.  I contacted support and they decided to send a technician home for repair.  Literally, the repair worked for less than an hour.  I've contacted support and said that he should be delivered to repair Dell.  After some time, I received an email indicating that the computer could not be repaired, so he would be replaced.  I received emails stating "we must get approval" then received additional emails indicating that permissions have been obtained.  More email telling you will receive shipping information "soon."  I contacted them again this morning and they told me "we expect you for a serial number to generate" really!  How long does one of the world's most technologically advanced companies to generate an order number?  I have a friend who owns a small company and can generate an order number more quickly, he wrote down and the process continues.  Here we are more a month later and still no computer!  This is ridiculous and I think other Dell consumers must know in what ways this process is and consider staying anywhere else.  If I had money from Dell for something, there will be a different level of motivation to collect.  Why can't this same level of motivation on getting my replacement computer.  I will participate in other public sites to warn of this poor service and the total absence just consideration for the consumer.

  • Activation of McAfee said to contact Dell technical support

I have a new XPS435.  When I try to turn it on, it says that it has already been activated, and if the system is a Dell refurbished that I should call Dell Support.  I can just see how THAT phone call will go.  This system is a Scratch and Dent of the decision-making model.  Do anyone know what is the problem, or if there is a support forum I can post this in?

Also, how can I get a notified when someone replies to this post?

    Hi Artesian79:

Under "Groups" at the top of the page select the forum "news for the community. Just wanted to leave a link for you, but this isn't the copy for any reason any. It's sort of a catch-all forum and they should be able to point in the right direction. • error 0 x 4001100200001005 if the problem persists contact the Dell technical support

    System - Dell inspiron 15 R 5521, windows 8, intel 1.8 GHz i5 cpu 3337U

My HARD drive crashed 3 weeks ago, so I'm trying to install windows on my new HARD drive 8 my DVD backup created by the recovery and backup dell. I constantly get this error "error 0 x 4001100200001005 if the problem persists contact Dell support.

In reading several threads on this forum, it seems that I need to windows OEM disks , but I can't find any disk (except suite multimedia cyberlink dvd) in the box of my laptop. Please help me I am stuck with the system of death. I don't want to buy a new license of windows.

Finally I solved this problem and for anyone with similar problems I share the solution

The problem in my case is that my DVD backup has been corrupted (I don't know how) and so the error 0 x 4001100200001005 is coming

Now the problem is How to restore an OEM (preinstalled) windows if you lose the HARD drive and backup

First of all remember that the Windows preinstalled on your system comes with a key. If you do not have a physical backup of key do not worry your System Bios will be the key embedded in them. So even if you lose your HARD drive, you can still recover your key of any software, as show touches them more.

Here are the steps to reinstall a windows OEM

1 get your key to windows by any software (R/W all or show key etc..)

    2. also note the version of your original windows as Home, professional, business, or other unique language. It is essential to know the exact version of your windows or the key will not work.

    3. now download the same version of windows from anywhere (as getintopc.com)

    4. take in any mount external drive the ISO file and run the Setup program

    5. now, here's a Tip - when windows prompts you for a key, do not enter your OEM key not because she will reject everything just saying is not the correct key for this version of windows (I don't know why?)

Instead of your key Windows keys generic to complete the installation.

6 now's done it once your windows is installed, you can go to computer > properties and activate windows to connect to an internet connection (easier) and if you have no internet try the phone activation (use your key has been recovered while activating and not the generic key).

    That's all

Hope It will help someone. :)

  • Is anyone has problems with Dell support - called using micro

    Hello users of the Forum.

My 2720 xps is not save anything when I use the microphone jack and little record (low volume) anything when I use the microphone. I also have questions about the use of large screen XPS2720 to extend my laptop screen using HDMI from laptop HDMI in the XPS. It does not either. Here is my support issues:

1 has reached the customer. The person would put me on hold for each 2 questions simple and "research". His answers were vague, and then he said he would transfer me to Office work support as he has managed "inspiron" only! His transfer has failed and abandoned call.

    2. calls on the customer. Voice was smothered at the other end, when I mentioned, so the call dropped!

    3. calls on the customer. The person could not understand what I was trying to make (connect laptop XPS display and audio not sent / mic jack question), he tried to understand the question but kept in interpreting everything that I said mean that I was trying to extend the XPS specification to a monitor. I asked to speak to someone who knows the best product, he informed that he will put the prime contractor, and the abandoned call. Now I'm wondering if there is another meaning to call down when Dell is unable to answer.

4 called again, the first person who I arrived before also picked up my call, when she heard what I was looking for the resolution, the call dropped.

I don't know what is happening with Dell technical support. I would like to know if anyone else had experiences similar to my problems, especially when Dell support is unable to successfully respond to the question.  I really prefer to talk to actual dell support person in the United States (instead of people at offshore call center) to get answers to my questions. I tried to download the XPS manual and the link led me to a PDF doc, which indicates that it is the manual of the user, but everything, it's a manual to pay off the system - open lids, replace chipsets, back cover, display etc.. !! Frustrating :-)

As Mary said, there are 2 ports HDMI on the XPS 2720. If you try to view the screen of the laptop on the XPS 2720, you must use HDMI-In port on the back of the specification XPS (#14 here).

There are also press the input source selection button (#9) to select the input source. It may take a couple of presses until she "cycles" through all the choices and sees the laptop. So, wait a few seconds between the push to give him a chance to change the input source.

And you should probably also go into Windows Display options on your laptop and make sure that it is set to use a second monitor...

    EDIT: Link fixed

I keep getting windows technical support calls asking me to put my pc is a scam

Yes! They are * not * windows technical support. It's a scam and with all the names and phone numbers, one that has become very common these days. See http://www.troyhunt.com/2012/08/virus-scams-social-engineering-victims.html

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value, if you let them into your computer, who knows what damage they did here or what confidential information they stole.

So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.

    2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
    financial sites.
  • Technical support phone scam?

Hi all. Earlier today, I phoned by someone claiming to be from Microsoft technical care; He said that my computer has been infected with a new virus (Trojan something?) and generated a lot of error messages. He asked me to download a software to help solve this (www.teamviewer.com); When I asked him to send the confirmation email that he was from Microsoft, it is very aggressive, said my license may be cancelled and finally told me to ' go to *'. Is it possible that this could be a real MS technical support call: the way of the appellant does not, but he asked me to watch some log files that to my uneducated eyes, seemed to have a lot of error messages, but I help but feel it is a scam.
