ESXi 5.1 VM running extremely slow after a power failure

Help, our virtual machines are run at a crawl since a power outage a few days ago. Everything seems to be in good shape.

Host is DL385 G7, 12 Dual core AMD, 48 GB memory, data store local storage (4) SAS 600 GB is running in RAID 10 for a total of 1.2 GB

Where I even begin to start looking?

4 critical VM:

Domain controller - Server 2008

SQL Server - 2008 Server

Terminal Server - Server 2008 R2

Mail Gateway - Windows 7

3 other various OS VM:

Windows XP

Server 2008

Linux power virtual management appliance base.

I turned off these 3 for now hoping to free up resources (doesn't help anything).

Memory and CPU use is nothing more than normal. It is sufficient that the virtual machine is so slow to the point where they are almost unusable (block-by-block refresh screens)

Each client computer is a thin client, and they often lose communication for 10-20 seconds each time, I do not know due to timeouts.

If the screenshots of the content of the folder of the virtual machine, or anything else would be helpful, let me know.

Hello

Everything seems to be in good shape.

Check the status tab material on the host and the status of all sensors...

On a host that unmanaged-> Configuration tab - > material - > health

Then, you can take a look at log files and search for:

error, warning, fault, panic, trace... "events".

For ESXi host:

/var/log/VMkernel.log

/var/log/vobd.log

VM log file:

VMware.log - in the same directory as the files of the virtual machine

If it is possible to download...

If you are unable to find anything suspicious in the newspapers using ESXTOP next level...

For troubleshooting with ESXTOP discover these excellent sources:

Back up all data immediately, as the internal drive may be failing.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is particularly bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Run the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

  • Dreamweaver cc 2014 running extremely slow

Dreamweaver CC 2014 is running extremely slow - with essentially no response (using the split or any other mode mode). My version of CC works perfectly - fast and clean. I have not changed anything - I have to install the new 2014 CC and tried and it doesn't fundamentally. What is going on? I have an iMac 2012 - updated my OS a lot of RAM, etc. I have a lot of open fonts, but this has never done other programs - just wondering if perhaps behind the scenes its reading of all this stuff (why would it?).

    Thanks Preran.

My external drives (nine in total) were originally of course DreamWeaver 2014 to a problem of 'mapping' of readers. However, by connecting the USB drives first, restarting and opening DreamWeaver 2014 once again, it worked as expected. Add two additional discs to high speed and restart again, all mounted drives and checking dreamweaver acted as it should and it behaved as it should.

    That solved my problem.

    Thank you

  • No network after a power failure and only works in safe mode with network. Operating system is Vista SP2.

The latest patch to update this system was .net framework 4

This behavior has occurred on several machines after a power failure in our factory caused all systems restart.

    I have run chkdsk

    I ran sfc

    SafeMode internet works fine.

Clean boot does not solve the problem.

Cannot remove .net framework 4 because I can't get windows installation service to work properly.

X red on the connection in normal mode

I run with the reset.cmd file subinacl to reset all the registry settings. It gave no results.

I looked at all of the services that are running successfully in normal mode and those that are run in mode safe and that services to start. This got me internet again in normal mode, but we are far from finished there are a lot of services is still needed. I'll make one by an approach to see what will begin and what doesn't.

System Restore was successful, but had no bearing on the issue. Here's the solution that worked.

    Safe Mode boot

on computers that are running Windows live onecar I ran as administrator onecare removal tool

Remove the Adobe Flash 10 utility

    Open msconfig and services.msc

enable all services that are running in safe mode to run msconfig on the next reboot. Also enable required services for Windows updates and windows install

    Enable

BITS, com +, Windows udpate, workstation and service server and all dependent services. If you miss some that is good because you and individual services and start them from services.msc when the next restart.

    Restart the machine.

I found that after this reboot a few updates have been posted in the update list installed in the control panel that had not been previously listed.

Remove all instances of Java (cannot be done in safe mode)

Reinstall Java and flash player from their respective Web sites

I installed Microsoft Security Essentials www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

Run windows update and install the updates.

run msconfig and select normal startup

    Restart and ensure normal operation.

It takes about 1/2 hour, 1 hour per machine which was much lower than a full reinstall.

  • The value of VM to restart automatically after a power failure

    Hello world

I'm under vSphere Client 4.1.0 and VMware ESXi 4.1.0. I'm having a problem to find my vSphere client where to change the VM to restart automatically after a power failure. When we have a failure someone must manually start the virtual machine. I want that it automatically starts up on its own. Where can I change this to? I looked around the client with little success...

Thank you for your time and help

  • Convert an Esxi 4 2 Server VM runs extremely slow

    Hello

I am very new to virtualization and have just the configuration server ESXi 4 that will replace the VM Server 2 systems we tested.  Recently, I tried to convert one of my server-2 VMs (Using the 'Converter Standalone Client') a VM (Version 7) Infrastructure.  After two days of continuous operation, the converter was only 5% finished and was transferring data to 24 kb/s (the server is ~ 150 GB in size).  This seems to be extremely slow and I hope that there is something that I can do to speed up that this server should run during opening hours and I like that, I can't take it down more than the weekend.

I ran the converter Client on the server that hosts the virtual machine, and that server and the ESXi have dual network adapters connected to a managed switch of FD 100 MB.  (They are both on the same switch).  The virtual machine was not working and there was almost no other network activity going on during the conversation.

    Any help is appreciated

The goal is to eliminate the things that it is not. Download your installation as simple as possible. I don't know what your problem is, but it certainly seems like a network problem. A single 100 MB network adapter should work much faster than the speed you receive.

Other things to eliminate are pass the port problems, configuration issues, cable issues, NIC

Run something like wireshark as you begin your conversion. See if you notice any problems in the capture.

Create a new fresh installation of the VM on the ESXi host and check the flow rate etc. You don't want to go to production if you have problems. Monday will not be fun if you do.

  • ReadyNAS 102 extremely slow after upgrade to 6.4.1

I have a Readynas 102 system with 2 drives of 2 TB. There are about 230 GB of data onto the disks. Yesterday, I upgraded 6.4.1, as suggested in the administration page. After that, the system is extremely slow. I use windows 7 pc and modem Asus, all wired. In windows Explorer, it takes minutes to get the folder hierarchy, if it comes with an answer at all. In many cases, that the answer is, disk unreachable.

Is there anyone who can help me with this

    Thank you

    Joop Baltussen

    What firmware are you running?

    The antivirus service is enabled.

  • VMware Fusion 3 running extremely slow...

First of all, my MacBook Pro:

    Core 2 T9300 2.5 GHz

    4 GB memory

    250 GB SATA HARD DRIVE

    Snow Leopard 10.6.1

    VMware Fusion 3.0

When I was with Leopard and VMware Fusion 2.x, the virtual machines run fast, but now they are extremely slow. BTW, I have activated the 64-bit kernel.

I managed to find the reason, it's because the "mds" in the host OS process, is not a problem of the guest operating system. Everytime I turn on my Windows XP in VMware, "mds" will appear in the activity monitor window, and account for about 2% ~ 20% CPU, hard drive usage becomes noisy at the same time. What I could do is just wait, after about an hour, mds will be 'calm down' and my MBP back alone. But, when the next time I turn on my virtual machine, "mds" will appear again...

"Mds" makes me crazy... I tried to google for answers, but no result.

Anyone faced this problem too? Or someone knows how to solve the problem? Thank you!

We found just a bug where in some cases fusion 3 will be a spotlight on every launch search (it is supposed not only to occur once), which seems to be exactly what describes this thread. You can work around this bug open Terminal.app and running

defaults write com.vmware.fusion PLLibrarySpotlightSearchDone -bool YES

Please let us know if that fixes things (or if not).

  • Satellite 1410 714 extremely slow after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Satellite 1410-714 which has had a hard drive failure. I replaced the drive, but now the computer is extremely slow. Windows has been reinstalled, it was really slow too much and now it takes minutes for windows to start.

I suspect that something might have broken on the motherboard and the hard disk. I checked mobo replacement parts, but have not found anything for-714, so a 1410 mobo compatible? This model has a processor celeron 1.8.

    Thanks for help.

    Hannu

    Hello

I can t think the motherboard is broken after replacing HARD drive.
I suggest updating the BIOS first. Maybe your old BIOS have a few problems with the most recent HARD drive.
Please check site driver Toshiba for the latest version of BIOS.

Have you used any anties Virus applications?

  • Satellite 1800 working extremely slow after reinstallation of the operating system

I bought a second hand Satellite 1800. I gathered all the drivers on the site of producer s, but when I formatted the HARD drive and installed Windows XP Home edition (my own copy, not any supplied software) the laptop works extremely slow... before that during the process of reading/writing of HARD drive, you could hear that typical for the sound... now the hard drive is completely silent during operation as it's slow as hell...

I tried to keep up with the web and it turns out that if I reinstalled the OS to Toshiba Recovery CD, it should do the thing... never mind, I didn't know I should have this CD when I bought it... so now I don't... Is there anything I could do about it?
    Help, please

    Q.

    Hello

As far as I know, this camera comes with W98SE and WME. The recovery CD with operating system Windows XP Home edition for this device is not created by Toshiba.

You can install Windows XP Home edition and use all the drivers for the Toshiba download site. I don t know how much RAM use this device, but if the unit has less than 128 MB of RAM you can't wait the machine runs fast.

  • iTunes running extremely slow

I'm having a problem with extreme slowness.  I have read all the post and don't see anything that I could change to correct this situation.  I have my music on an external disk file using the FireWire on my iMac.  I have the latest Mac os 10.11.1 and the latest iTunes version 12.3.1.23.

I lit the apple music, but I'm not using the icloud or search service

I have 127,88 GB of music on any external drive

At this point, I am considering canceling music apple and past to another service, and I plan to download an alternative product to iTunes.

Is it possible that you and Podcasts iTunes can get their own programs as they do on the iPad and iPhone?

What would be a good alternative to iTunes?

    Thanks for any help.

One thing you should do is to run disk utility and test the volume of the external drive to confirm that there is no alteration of the data on it.  You can do this by selecting the disk external volume (indented under the Unit) in the disk utility sidebar.  Click on the button of first aid , then run it.  The corruption of data may cause slow access.  Also, if the player is close to being full, which can strongly increase the fragmentation of data, which can cause slow access, especially if the drive has been through cycles to get closer to satiety, followed erase you data in order to free up space, followed by get start near new...

My iTunes Media , also on an external FireWire drive folder, is currently 315 GB (with things that take more space as films, TV series, video podcasts, etc.).  I actively use two Match iTunes and music from Apple.  I don't feel any slowness.  You can do additional tests on your system to determine the cause.
