ESXi host have not of virtual machines when connected through vCenter

Hi all

I am facing a problem with 1 ESXi hosts. All other hosts are working properly.

All hosts are managed by vCenter 5.1 VM. When I select this problematic host in vCenter and click on the virtual computers tab, it does not display anything other than a blank page. Then, it throws an error saying that the object has been deleted or has not completely created. The screenshot of the error popup is attached.

However, if I connect directly to the host through the VI client, it does not throw the error and I can see the virtual machines it. If I have vmotion the vms during this host, I do not see these virtual machines via vcenter but I connect directly to the host and I can see the virtual machines. They work very well.

What could be the cause of this problem.

Thank you

AG

I would try restart the management agent on the host troubled or removing of vCenter and time.

  • Change the amount of vCPU in vCD deletes the virtual machine network connection in vCenter

It is a problem of crazy that we discovered, and I wanted to know if anyone had seen him.

First of all, we miss the following software versions:

    vCD: 5.1.1.867405

    vCenter: 5.0.0 Build 913577

    ESXi: 5.0.0 build 1024429

If you go to vCloud Director and change the material properties of an existing virtual machine (Powered off) any change in the amount of vCPU (to something new), inside of vCenter status of the network will change to the port group Standard (inactive) none.

Even if, before making the change, the virtual machine is connected to a distributed port group, and works well.

We now display an SR to VMware, but sometimes it is worth running this by the community to see if other people have already seen or indeed want to test on their deployment.

    Thanks in advance

We have solved the problem now.

The reason why that we faced this problem is because we used the wrong order in the API.

You must ensure that you use the undeploy command when you work with the vCD API otherwise you end up with a disconnected network card.

  • ESXi 4.0 on Dell 1850 this host doesn't support VT you have configured the virtual machine to use an operating system 64-bit client.

    Hello

, I have in 3 data centers Dell 1850, identical hardware configurations.  I installed Esxi 4.0 to the ISO from site Web de VMware dell custom help. He is successfully installed on all servers, without error at all. I've updated them all to the last generation, using VMware vSphere Client. I have a problem with one of the server when I want to use 64-bit machines, he realizes: this host does not support VT you have configured the virtual machine to use an operating system 64-bit client.  However, this host is not able to run 64-bit virtual machines or virtual computer has 64-bit support disabled. For more information, see http://www.vmware.com/info?id=152. I don't understand why I got this, servers are identical, versions of BIOS, firmware, and all updates are the same. There is also a warning in the configuration tab, on the State of health link.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestion.

Yes according to the description of CPU, it seems that they do not support intel VT:

  • Virtualized ESXi host is not assigned an IP address

My virtualized ESXi host is not assigned an IP address on a DHCP network. I created it on my physical host with a physical NIC.

Both its E1000 vNIC is networked with virtually the same Vswitch as the physical host, I created a second Service Console on this vswitch for the ESXi host virtualized, what I need to change the IP of virtual servers to match the newly created Service Console?

I found a guide on changing the IP address of the vswif on the virtual host, I'm going in the right direction?

If you run ESXi on ESX (i) then you must enable the mode promicuous on the VM host vSwitch portgroup.

  • Configuration of IPSec in VMWare ESXi can be applied to virtual machines running?

    Hello

I have an operating system running inside VMWare ESXi 5.1.  Let's call is "MyLinux".  It is a modified version of Linux which does not support IPSec.  So I try to get VMWare to manipulate IPSec for MyLinux.

I used esxcli orders to successfully create configurations for IPSec between VMWare itself and other systems.

However, I wonder if I can use the same esxcli commands to configure IPSec between MyLinux and other systems?  In my tests, VMWare does not perform tunneling IPSec data between the running machines and other virtual systems.

It is an illustration of the configuration I created for MyLinux in VMWare.  I also have a security policy that is not visible.

Name Source address Destination address State SPI Mode Encryption Algorithm, integrity algorithm to life

    ExternalToMyLinuxSA EXTERNAL. IPv6.ADDRESS infinite mature MyLINUX.IPv6.ADDRESS of hmac-sha2-256 0 x 256 transport 3des-cbc

When I captured a trace TCP ping between MyLinux and the external system, MyLinux never sent the IPSec packets. Everything was sent in the clear.  This suggests that VMWare does not apply the rule for MyLinux, but I would like to confirm.  Thank you.

When you configure IPSec on ESXi, you sécuriserez the VMkernel traffic, not the virtual machine... If you want to protect the traffic of the virtual machine, you will need to enable IPSec on guest operating system.

  • is it possible to access the virtual machine when the network is down...

Hello. He... IAM wondering is it possible that we can access the virtual machine when the network is down... (Because of power outages or when the fluctuations...) ................?

Is it possible that I can configure my Virtual Machine...?

    Thank you and best regards...

    Indianmale...

    Hello

    Not really...

For an environment hosted... If you can access the console of the host, you can always access the console of the virtual machine regardless of the State of the network outside of the console. VMware Workstation, Fusion and server all fall into this category.

For ESXi/ESX... you need a host outside to access the console of the virtual machine. ESX and ESXi not displayed graphics or VMs of their consoles and management devices. So, you need an external machine that can run the vSphere Client or access to the virtual machine via RDP, VNC according to Guest OS involved or SSH.

  • Edit "Sync time with host comments" on several virtual machines by PowerCLI

    Hi people,

In my vSphere Cluster (Version 5.1), I have about 70 virtual machines in a resource pool named 'RP_nonProd '.

Now, I need activate 'Time of Sync with host comments' on all these VM in the pool of resources mentioned.

I figured out, that with the following command:

    Get-ResourcePool | Where {$_.} Name - only 'resources'} | Select Name, @{N = "NumVM"; E={($_ | Get - VM). County}} | Name sort

I am able to get a list of coma separated from all virtual machines in the resource pool. Unfortunately, I do not know what command allows me to change "Time of comments with the sync host" above PowerCLI.

I know, that there is an object called "$spec.tools.syncTimeWithHost = $true" that you can configure for real, but I don't know, how to write a simple script with this function.

So any help will be accepted with gratitude.

    Greetings

    Marc

    Try something like this

    $VMS = Get-VM -Location (Get-ResourcePool YourResourcePool)

    $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineConfigSpec $spec.Tools = New-Object VMware.Vim.ToolsConfigInfo $spec.Tools.syncTimeWithHost = $true
    $VMS | %{
      $_.ExtensionData.ReconfigVM($spec)
    }

  • ESXi 5.0 as a virtual machine

For pure and for training automatic tests, I installed VMware ESXi 5.0 as a virtual machine inside a VMware ESXi 5.0 host (physical).

How can I configure the network interface to allow the VM ESXi?

Is there a best practices document to configure VMware ESXi as a virtual machine?

    Concerning

    Marius

Basically, all you have to do is to allow mode promiscuity on vSwitch physical hosts, which you connect virtual ESXi hosts. Make sure that virtual ESXi hosts are configured with the virtual "E1000" NETWORK card adapters

For other settings, please take a look at Execution nested VMs

  • Could not open virtual machine

I just installed my trial of VMWARE WORKSTATION.  When I try to open a virtual machine created by workstation 5, I get the following message:

I am running Windows 7 Professional.

Looks like there may be a problem with permissions on individual files for this virtual machine.  Try to reset the file permissions to inherit from the parent folder. (Right click on the folder, go to security > advanced, make sure that your user has 'Full control' permission this directory, check the "replace all child objects permissions entries...) ("and click OK.)

My computer again "you're not enough virtual memory" when I try to download any game.

    Hi Sue and Betsy,

This article shows how to increase the amount of virtual memory on your PC: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-vista/Change-the-size-of-virtual-memory (I recommend setting virtual memory to 2500 MB initial size and a maximum size of 3000 MB).

    I hope this helps.

  • WRT54GC failed to get a valid gateway entry when connecting through PPPoE

    Hi Experts,

I'm moving my WRT54G Router that uses more than 5 years for a WRT54GC I got from my friend. I have clone each entry of the WRT54G to the new MAC address of one, even. Here's what I captured of the old WRT54G Router when it connected via PPPoE

    Connection type: PPPoE
    Connection status: connected
    IP address: 114.91.200.128
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.255
    Default gateway: 124.74.12.242
    DNS 1: 180.168.255.118
    DNS 2: 116.228.111.18
    DNS 3:
    MTU: 1492

from the web administration interface, I can ping and traceroute yahoo.com, so can I browse any website from my PC.

and here is what I have captured new WRT54GC router when connected via PPPoE

    Connection type: PPPoE
    IP address: 180.158.83.182
    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
    Default gateway:
    DNS1: 180.168.255.118
    DNS2: 116.228.111.18

the web administration interface, I can ping and traceroute yahoo.com, but I can not browse any website from my PC.

Could you get it someone please let me know if there is something I misconfigured?

    Thank you

Probably your ISP don't like it if you try to connect two times with the same account of different devices.

I suggest you press the disconnect on the WRT54G to close the PPPoE session before trying it on the new.

Or stopping for the night and try the new router first thing in the morning...

Came to use a scanner that was not used for some time and unrecognized device.  Tried reloading drivers, but still no good. Bought the new scanner/printer combo, but not recognized after loading software.  Finally managed to make it work via WiFi. Thought, I'd better try another material... iPOD touch... • Max memory to a virtual machine when only running on a host?

    Hello

I have a 4 ESXi host with 65522, 60 MB of RAM as reported capacity.

I have a single VM RHEL 6 64-bit running on it.

It is possible to allocate 65524 MB RAM to it, and I did.

Is this correct? I guess that the host system needs little RAM too, and by assigning all the RAM to a virtual computer, one wonders where the host system gets its RAM from?

Everything works, but I wanted to make a clear, if someone can help bring me some light on that?

    Hej Ko,

you could for example in ESXi approve your memory, running 10 virtual machines with 8 GB of RAM on your specific host. ESXi has some management techniques of memory to manage the most effective possible RAM, however if all your virtual machines (or in your case your single VM) would really need all RAM then it does not fit into physical RAM and should be handled by a few different ways, but could end up with what we call vmkernel swap = poor performance.

For your virtual machine, it is probably better to put in something like 62 GB or similar, as this makes the ESXi host operating system and all your VM fit RAM completely.
