Example of NOR 5771 DIO

Anyone have an example PFI or programming on the 5771 DIO ports?  I'm looking to print several impulses of TTL level with different time bad positioning on separate lines to trigger external components.

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Hi rich,

We have no examples of shipping the 5771 that make use of the OID or PFI lines. In this case, your best resource would be using NI 5771 CLIP, which should install on your machine with the support of the FAM. If you look there, you will see that you will need to set the bit to enable write for lines of ports/PFI DIO accordingly, and in addition you would write for them as a standard input/output FAM. Make sure you are aware of the maximum rate of update for the DIO lines (6.6 MHz - see here for more information).

For an example of a Module to adapt different FlexRIO which uses lines DIO, I would recommend looking at the example shipping NI 5752 Multi record digital triggering. I would like to know if you have any other questions about these lines and your application.

    Hi all

    Is a repository for examples of HS-DIO VI available? Are there tutorials? I use a HS SMU-6544-RIO and want to use the generation of static and dynamic signals. • Using the C-series SCTL DIO module with slower than the top level [FPGA] clock

    Hey all,.

    I'm running online research on a problem that I have a lot of success.

    I have a chassis with integrated FPGA, top-level 9030 clock 40 MHz.  I have a NOR-9401 DIO C Series module plugged and the value that will be managed by the FPGA target.  I need to count some linear encoders to exactly 10 MHz, no more, no less.  They are periods and gives a result of such kind that if I oversample or underestimate, I get garbage.

    If I create a SCTL and assign a source of synchronization derived from 10 MHz, I get an error code generation who:

    "Node read e/s for DIO3 FPGA is used in a clock domain that it does not support.  Areas of clock supported include: the clock of higher and clocks that have a rate that is a multiple of 40 MHz, for example 40 MHz, 80 MHz, 120 MHz and so on. »

    I tried several ways to work around this problem; First I tried just using a while loop with a loop set to 4 is ticking timer, but it then takes 9 clock cycles to perform the count for a reason any (although this code may compile in the SCTL without any problem).  I then tried to use the SCTL with a constant of 'true' AS a hack for a 'timed sequence' framework-related, and that certainly has not worked.

    Are there any strategies or techniques, or settings somewhere to work around this limitation on the AID I need to taste exactly 10 MHz?  I'd like to do this quickly in the software and get this rolling as soon as POSSIBLE.

    An image of the relevant section of the code is attached, I'm happy to provide you more things on request.

    Thank you very much!

  • Waveform generation continues in C/C++, application example

    I am looking for one or more examples of analog output in which a waveform is generated on the fly.  for comparison, all of the examples with NOR-DAQmx constantly shipping and way repeated output data; I would like to be able to edit the output values.  non-renegeration may be the Member of (non-obvious) phrase that I'm missing in my research.  suggestions, please?

    only in c / c++ instead of labview.

    Hi David,

    This example should be useful - this looks like what you want to do.

    DAQmx - continually generate tension - no regeneration - LabWindows/CVI

    The part of the acquisition of data is:

    Configure

    DAQmxCreateTask("",&taskHandle);

    DAQmxCreateAOVoltageChan(taskHandle,chan,"",min,max,DAQmx_Val_Volts,);

    DAQmxSetWriteAttribute (taskHandle, DAQmx_Write_RegenMode, DAQmx_Val_DoNotAllowRegen);
    DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming (taskHandle",", rate, DAQmx_Val_Rising, DAQmx_Val_ContSamps, 1000);

    Write data

    DAQmxWriteAnalogF64(taskHandle,bufferSize,0,10.0,DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel,data,&written,);

    Start the task

    DAQmxStartTask (taskHandle));

    Write data continuously in a loop

    so that {(gRunning)
    DAQmxWriteAnalogF64(taskHandle,bufferSize,0,10.0,DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel,data,&written,);
    }

    Clear task when finished

    DAQmxClearTask (taskHandle);

    Data written on your task must follow the pace it's be clocked what you receive a buffer overflow error (i.e. the data array must be large enough so that you write enough data by loop iteration).  Writing DAQmx is a blocking call, so if you try to write more data space available in your loop output buffer will wait here until space becomes available and he finishes his writing or the specified timeout is reached.

    Read more http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3308 he says rather non-challantly that ' module PXI-2567 and SCXI-1167 can also be programmed using the functions of NOR-DAQmx DIO. "

    Does that mean that what follows (simple example) would work with the SCXI-1167, installed in a SCXI-1001 chassis?

    What happens if the SCXI-1167 was connected to the PC via the USB-1600 module?  I'm inclined to think it WOULD because of the statement of the SCXI-1600 data sheet:

    "The SCXI-1600 is a module of control for entry SCXI analog, analog output, digital i/o modulesand switching and full 16-bit digitizer."

  • Slow DAQmxWriteAnalogF64 in communication

    Hello

    I use a cDAQ-9174 chassis USB-9263 4xOutput module and the module 4xInput 9215. I want to set up a regulatory PID loop with entry and exit ao0 ai0. For this I need to know how fast he can talk to the computer to the output device a unique value, given that the computer needs to perform calculations based on input, he got and then decide on a release.

    To test the maximum rate of return, I created the loop next, based on the DAQmxWriteAnalogF64 function that I run inside a function on my program:

    errorChk (DAQmxCreateTask ("singleOutTask", & taskOut));
    errorChk(DAQmxCreateAOVoltageChan(taskOut,"cDAQ1Mod1/ao0","pidOutChannel",-10.0,10.0,DAQmx_Val_Volts,"")); "
    While (!) Stop) {/ / the loop runs until the stop = true.}
    outArray [0] = 0;
    errorChk (DAQmxWriteAnalogF64 (taskOut, 1, true, 10.0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, outArray, NULL, NULL));
    outArray [0] = 5;
    errorChk (DAQmxWriteAnalogF64 (taskOut, 1, true, 10.0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, outArray, NULL, NULL));
    }
    errorChk (DAQmxStopTask (taskOut));
    errorChk (DAQmxClearTask (taskOut));

    After you have created the task and the AOVoltageChannel program starts a loop where it will switch the power switch (0/5Vlts) output. Efectively, this creates a square wave on the output, I can assess his period with an oscilloscope and find the time to update output.
    With this code, I found that the output takes about 25ms to change, which implies a frequency of 20 Hz. It's too slow for my application.

    I got this code from the single output of NIDAQmx examples to create this loop, which, in many ways, is similar to what I should do to implement the PID controller.

    This communication seems very slow compared to the reading DAQmxReadAnalogF64 function that reads the values of a task of permanent entry, which means that the USB can communicate faster than that.

    Is there a way to output values faster? My computer can produce results of a calculation in any 1 (faster), so it would plant time to output values if the communication is fast.

    Thank you.

    If you need more information, please let me know.

    A. Vieira

    I found the answer.

    This is the example "Mult Volt updates-SW Timed.c" in examples of NOR-DAQmx. It uses the DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64 function to write values, instead of DAQmxWriteAnalogF64.

    With this feature my loop runs from a write at 1 kHz frequency 20 Hz.
    I had checked this example before and the reason why it was working not (apparently) so far, is that it uses DAQmxStartTask before entering the loop, even if autoStart is set to DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64. So if you start the task before you write values it works 50 x faster!

    Complete solution:

    float64 outValue;
    errorChk (DAQmxCreateTask ("pidOutTask", & taskOut));
    errorChk(DAQmxCreateAOVoltageChan(taskOut,"cDAQ1Mod1/ao0","pidOutChannel",-10.0,10.0,DAQmx_Val_Volts,"")); "
    errorChk (DAQmxStartTask (taskOut));
    While (!) Stop) {/ / the loop runs until the stop = true.}
    outValue = 0;
    errorChk (DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(taskOut,1,10.0,outValue,)); With either autostart = 1 or 0 works perfectly
    outValue = 5;
    errorChk (DAQmxWriteAnalogScalarF64(taskOut,1,10.0,outValue,));
    }
    errorChk (DAQmxStopTask (taskOut));
    errorChk (DAQmxClearTask (taskOut));

    Maybe there are still some things we can do to improve it. I still believe that it woudn't be hard for bus connect even faster.
    I still dream with a way to make the device constantly write to a well-defined frequency (which can be very high) and the computer updates the memory buffer with the value next to write (or something similar). In this case, I just need to make sure that the computer writes the value into the buffer fast enough. So, it would be ideal! It would provide a frequency constant writing, with the example above does not.

    Thank you

  • With PCI-6229 NMI Parity error

    Currently, I'm trying to get a PCI-6229 to work with one of our lab computers. We'll use LabVIEW 8.5.1 with DAQmx 6.7.1 to program the card. Using our measurement VI owner, the computer will crash at some point (not really in reproducible way) with a blue screen saying "NMI: Parity Check / Memory parity error. All the tests of auto and examples of NOR (delivered with LabVIEW) perform well however.

    Most likely, this problem is not a RAM issue (MemTest I tried, different memory chips, different memory banks). Also, the PCI computer bus works very well otherwise (for any other acquisition cards for example). Annoying enough, the card seems to do a great job in an old and slow computer. Which is maybe something to look at? Or are there other ideas?
    Our workplace is a Fujitsu-Siemens of Celsius M460 with BIOS version 6.00 rel. 1.09 running Windows XP (32-bit version). The software to use with the card is LabVIEW 8.5.1 with DAQmx 6.7.1.

    Dear Lutz,

    I could reproduce the blue screen, and
    changed your program in order to avoid the race condition. What is
    actually happens is you want 2 tasks over time the
    AOSampleClock as a source before the task of AO started.

    When
    programming as in the example I sent you (see attachment VI), you
    shouldn't deal with this blue screen problem more. However, I recognize
    that such a thing should not happen even when it's 'bad' programming... I'm going to
    inform the development so that it will be corrected with the next DAQmx
    version of the driver.

  • PCI 6221 generating an output voltage

    Hi all

    I'm trying to use a card PCI-6221 to provide a voltage of 5V analogue output and use it HAVE read the returned signal using labview. Anyone know how I can do this using this hardware device?

    Thank you

    Hi lrving9,

    First you need the DAQmx driver, here is the link for you to install the latest version.

    NOR-DAQmx 15.0.1
    http://www.NI.com/download/NI-DAQmx-15.0.1/5353/en/

    If you already have it, so go ahead and take a look at this example:

    It shows you how an analog DC output voltage.

    Community: Output analog voltage constant
    https://decibel.NI.com/content/docs/doc-18631

    So you have a block of connection to connect the signals?

    If you do, then you can simply create a task to read a continuous voltage entry, as in this example

    Community: - Input voltage
    https://decibel.NI.com/content/docs/doc-25105

    If you do not have a connection block and have no way to connect the OD to HAVE, then you can read the inner channel of AO, as shown in this link (there is an example at the bottom):

  • Acquisition of data & MDI - Exception after the closure of the MDI child with execution of the task-Daq

    Hi Peter,.

    Sorry for the delay.

    It is normal behavior when the DAQmx task is still running.

    You must stop/clear the task before closing the window. It's especially good style to work with only one user interface / window.

    Hi hum-human resources management.

    The example of DAQmx ANSI C Analog In\Measure Voltage\Cont Acq - Ext Clk - Dig start shows how to use DAQmxCfgDigEdgeStartTrig() to activate a digital start trigger. It also illustrates the continued acquisition, clock to external sampling and all events of samples N; for a simpler starting point, look at analog In\Measure Voltage\Acq-Int Clk-Anlg start and try to convert to using digital analog INSTEAD of triggers.

    However, this will start acquiring exactly when the trigger occurs, not after a period of time fixed. Use DAQmxSetStartTrigDelay() and DAQmxSetStartTrigDelayUnits() to add a fixed delay between the trigger and the beginning of the acquisition.
