exec: 206: / usr/lib/vmware-vcenter-converter-standalone/converter-gui: not found

Hello everyone this is my first post!

I am currently running Ubuntu 8.10 (x86_64) and Converter 4.0 installation has been completed successfully. I'm running into a problem when running command "vmware-converter-client", I get the following error...

exec: 206: / usr/lib/vmware-vcenter-converter-standalone/converter-gui: not found

I searched the forum but I can't seem to find anything that refers to this specific error. I've seen other posts that do not include this error, but are usually accompanied by a missing library etc...

I even tried to run the executable files in the directory/var/lib/vmware-vmware-vcenter-converter-standalone directly, but then, I get the following errors...

bash:. / vmware converter: no such file or directory

bash:. / Converter-gui: no such file or directory

The files are obviousely there!

  • VMware vcenter converter standalone physical conversion to virtual stuck to the completion of 81% for several days

Hello everyone I have an interesting question, I'm physical conversion to virtual pointing to the new virtual directly on the server esx conversion would set schedule for a day. But now, it's just stuck at 81% and not go further! I don't get any errors of ideas? questions are there a basis that I can look to see what is happening? Is there a way I can fix it without start over again. There are enough resources on the destination esx I had to change the hard drive space for destination and ram, but done nothing radical imprint more small which I think should do better.

It's an interesting case, you have here. I guess that conversion is complete, but somehow you do not see or a deadlock occurred.

Anyway you will probably be able to export logs to the customer. Go to the directory of newspapers to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\logs (for WP/W3K) or vCenter Converter Standalone\logs %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\VMware (for Vista +) and find the log of the last worker (vmware-converter-worker - .log #). The status of the conversion is currently connected. Take a look, or that she has finished, is still running, is stuck.

If he has you can try restarting the client and/or server converter service. Do not stop the worker service unless you are sure that there is no conversion running!

    Welcome to the community,

It is most likely a problem with the virtual drive created for the converted virtual machine controller. Unless you specify the correct controller ("LSI Logic SAS' for Windows 7) type in the Converter Wizard, you can end up with an IDE controller.

  • Windows Server 2003 x 64 conversion using VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Boot CD error

    Hi all

I downloaded "VMware vCenter Converter Standalone" v 4.0 and from this directory

    C:\Program VMware vCenter Converter Standalone

I was able to find these ISO files:

Converter-helper-vm - x 64 .iso - & gt; I have burn the CD it and then perform the reboot

    converter-for assistance - vm.iso

However, during the boot, he went into the start of linux, and then he asked me a login and a password?

What should I type here then?

My goal is to be able to convert this physical machine in one. File VMDK to load later on ESXi or VMWare Server 2.0

    Thank you.

Have you tried domain user and password?

  • Pull information from /usr/lib/vmware/vm-support/bin/swfw.sh

What is the best way to pull information from the report and treat?  Ideally, I would like to put the content in a kind of table and query through to different things, I want (versions of components etc.).  Thank you!

Are there elements that people are aware of which are not contained in the output?  Seems to contain a lot of information system (bios version, firmware disc etc.)

    $User = "root".

    $Pswd = "password"

    $Computer = "server name".

    $plink = "s:\Putty\plink.exe".

    $plinkoptions = '$Computer-l root - pw $Pswd.

    # launch ssh

    Get-vmhost $Computer | Get-vmhostservice | where {$_.} Key - eq "TSM - SSH"} | Start-VMHostService-confirm: $false | Out-Null

    $cmd1 = ' /usr/lib/vmware/vm-support/bin/swfw.sh > usr/lib/vmware/vm-support/bin/output.txt'

    $remoteCommand = ""' + $cmd1 + "'"

    $command = ' echo there "+" "+" | "+" "+ $plink +" "+ $plinkoptions +" "+ $remoteCommand

    # run remote command

    $msg = expression invoke-command $command

    $msg

    # Disable ssh

    Get-vmhost $Computer | Get-vmhostservice | where {$_.} Key - eq "TSM - SSH"} | Stop-VMHostService-confirm: $false | Out-Null

You seem to redirect the output of the command into a file on the local file system.

    Why is this?

If you leave the output come from the screen, it should be later in the $msg variable.

And I suspect you easily retrieve the necessary info with a RegEx expression.

What information you want to extract exactly?

  • VMware Vcenter Converter cannot connect

I'm under VMware Vcenter Converter. I'm trying to convert a physical machine in virtual. In step 2, 'Specify the Destination' it says "unable to recognize the version or the server type when connecting to the host"the door"

    What now?

For 'destination', select 'VMWare Workstation or another VMWare virtual machine', and then for the product "VMWare Server 2.x.  The 'destination' for a virtual machine to not ESX (not infrastructure) type is just folder on a local drive or share of newwork.  So yes, you can use a USB drive or eSATA connected on your local machine.

I'm guessing that you choose 'VMWare Infrastructure' as your destination, which is not the right choice for a destination to Server2.

(BTW, part of the reason why you can't find answers is to post the same thing in several areas just makes it difficult for people to know what has already been said.  Then you need to repeat your information and answers repeatedly, you did not.  And you have only been posting for one day.  Patience patience, grasshopper.  Not everyone is on the forums of every minute of every day.  The person looking for the answer couldn't read your post for the next few days.)

I know that vmnet.tar was here before... and he suddenly disappeared. How do we do it back, or can I download it somewhere? Thank you.

A little worrying that this file should simply disappear - never happened on any of my guests. Check the logs, etc. for possible reasons. You get also warnings much more when you run vmware - config.pl I've ever encountered. What files did you manually have to move?

If you download the tarball, extract the file from here and place it in the folder "/ usr/lib/vmware/modules/source", then you should probably go further. Should also be vmci.tar, vmnet.tar and vsock.tar in there.
