I am running XP, incidentally. It will hang, that the fan is working hard, and I have to end task to exit, and then add it to the. What is going on? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi KatinaHollman,

1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2. you receive an error message?

3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

4. when exactly the Windows Explorer crashes on the computer?

Method 1

Refer to the article below and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.

FIX: The Explorer.exe process stops responding (hangs) when you use Windows Explorer that hosts a shell that has been created using MFC extension

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/972685

Method 2

If the previous step fails, then check if the problem persists in the safe mode and after return with the result.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

Method 3

If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Hi John McAvoy,.

    (1) since when are you facing this problem?

    (2) you get an error message?

I want to clarify if this happens when you start Windows after logging in or before opening a session on windows.

Method 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...) Except the mouse and keyboard > restart the computer and check

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

    Thanks and greetings

I'm unable to launch InDesign CC2015 and I get the above message. A little history: my daughter (college House) had already installed CC2015 on our computer at home for little work. It has access through his school. I decided to sign for my subscription to the CC and were able to open Photoshop, Illustrator and other apps that I downloaded, simply not InDesign. I deleted his old copy and re-installed InDesign, but still no luck.

I am connected to creative cloud through my account, not his. Any suggestions? Thank you.

She motioned to his account of cloud so the computer would be 'open' and waiting for you to sign IN?

You use an account that has ADMINISTRATOR-level permissions?

Do run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says again and also to Adobe all emissions] will sometimes fix errors "weird" or "authorization".

From you description of the problem you encounter, the scenario where this can happen.

Windows vista was preinstalled by an OEM or by using a Volume license installation. The problem does not occur on retail versions of Windows Vista. Hi Jomalik,

Thanks for posting your concern. We are here to help. Most of the time, the Explorer crashes due to a bad or corrupt context Menu. To help you with the problem, you may need to follow these steps.

    1. click on Start, type command prompt or cmd in the box Search .
    2. right click on command promptand then click run as administrator.
    3. at the command prompt, type sfc/scannow, and then press enter. The sfc/scannow command will scan all protected system files and replace the corrupted files by a cached copy which is located in a compressed folder to % WinDir%\System32\dllcache.

Note: Do not close the command prompt window until the audit is 100%.

    Hi the Geek Cruiser

You should continue to use ShellxView to locate the bad Manager context menu management.

In ShellxView, in the toolbar, select Options and click on the type of the extension element filter.

This will show that the elements of context Menu in the main window.

From there, it is simply a matter of disable context menu items and test results in the left pane of Windows Explorer.

I recommend you to disable all elements of third in the list to begin. Look in the columns of product and company name to identify these third-party extensions. Select one and then hold down the Ctrl Key and select others.

Log off/log and the results of the tests. If the problem has disappeared, then you know that the culprit is in this group that you disabled.

Turn on half of this group and test again. If the problem reappears, then you have reduced to the group that you enabled.

Then, off the half of the second group and test.

Continue this process until you find the culprit.

You can find that in many cases you are not yet using third-party shell extensions and you can let them simply disabled.

    Tell us what you find.
