extend the main disk of Windows 7 partition

Hello

I'm running Vsphere 4.1 and I have VM which is a Windows 7 with one disk as the primary partition.

I would like to thank the size of this partition, but after, turn to the virtual machine and change its configuration the disk size is grayered.

So, I tried to run the VM converter, in order to create a new virtual machine with a larger drive, but neither this worked because there was no option to change this size.

I was also looking for how to make using the command line, here:

VMware KB: Extension partitions in Windows by using DiskPart

but my problem is that I have found multiple vmdk files, and I don't know what is the right to use the command vmkfstools. What are these files:

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28504559616 26 fev 16:55 Testw764-000001 - delta.vmdk

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 368 26 Feb 17:18 Testw764 - 000001.vmdk

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34359738368 27 Jan 17:46 Testw764 - flat hard

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 495 26 Feb 17:18 Testw764.vmdk

The virtual machine has defined a snapshot, but now I deleted it.

Thank you for your help.

Hello

I solved the case. The problem was there was an another spanshots I have not seen. So, after remove it I could expand the size of the hard drive by using the vmware client (as usual).

Thank you.

  • When installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system?

Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7? I have Windows Vista Partition, I case these files through my Windows 7 partition without logging in there?

    Thank you

You should be able to (I'm virtually certain it's possible) If you have the appropriate permissions or property rights in your Vista partition to allow access of the user of Windows7 or users of Windows7.  It's the way it works with XP and Vista and I suspect that it is essentially the same thing here.  You may need to add the users to the Vista partition/folders/files in Windows7 using regardless of their process (it varies probably Vista so I won't bother posting method Vista to do).

The best thing to do is to follow the advice of Michael Murphy and get help from experts in the Windows7 Forums.

I have a laptop HP Pavilion dvt7-3000 CTO that has a single disk drive hard 500 GB.  The operating system has been improved in Windows7 Pro (64-bit) to Windows 8 Pro (64-bit), but the problem occurs in both operating systems.  When conducting the defragmentation of the different hard disks (C:\ D:\, HP tools and system), the percent of the "System" drive which is fragmented never changes, while the % fragmented adequately for other readers going to 0%.  Over time, the system part of the hard disk rose to 27% fragmented.  How to defragment this drive?

    Hello

The system partition contains the boot files and recovery for Windows 7 environment and should not be défragmentée.  It will always appear to be fragmented and it is quite normal - force this partition defragment would almost certainly avoid the Windows startup.  In addition, the fragmentation in this small partition has absolutely no effect on performance.

For much the same reasons, the recovery partitions or HP_TOOLS must be défragmentées.

  • Mode Dual monitor: can I extend the main display from right to left?

I have a Setup dual monitor with

Main screen with desktop computer: Dell S42092

    Secondary display: Inspiron notebook.

Is there a way to extend from left to right?  I wish I had my secondary screen (laptop) positioned on my left, not the right, which seems to be the only way that the configuration of the resolution of the screen allows you to do.  I currently configured as

    Display (2) Dell s24092

Several screens: extend these screens (this allows me to drag from left to right, which is not intuitive if the laptop is on the right.

If I can't do it with this configuration, this work with another monitor, type?

    Trudy-o

My OS is Windows 7, but I've been to the screen "Changes the appearance of your poster" you describe.

It identifies the laptop as monitor 1 and the S24092 Dell Monitor 2. It allows me to do 1 or 2, my main screen, but it does allow me to pass the identity of 1 and 2.   Therefore, any screen is my main screen, management of drag forces me out of the side right of the main screen (the great Dell) before entering the screen of the computer, which I turned to the left.  I am left handed and I smile with my left hand, and I'd rather have my secondary monitor to my left.  Is it makes sense?

The identity is to tell you, visually, that is, whose number has no significance. The computer screen will always be 1 and the outside will be always high because you can not disconnect and because it will be the first computer find at boot.

To put secondary (2) on the other side, press the image of monitors, monitor 2 drag it to the other side of the #1 and press apply then / adjust displays are flashing and if he succeeds, it will appear a window with a 15 seconds timer to reset the display if no one pressed the Yes button.

Basically, you want to match the image with your configuration.

I'm left-handed too, but use the mouse with your right hand. and I have a laptop with Vista and an external monitor (primary) to the left of the laptop.

I see no possibility to return to the main window of Thunderbird 31.1.1 under Fedora 20. In, View menu | Layout and check the Folders pane.

If you do not have a menu, hold the < alt > key and then press l (lowercase L).

  • Why the hard disk is divided into partitions of two data (C:Vista and E: Data)?

I just started a new A200-1V0 and found that disk space is divided into two partitions of sizes equal 'C:Vista' and ' E: Data "(and a small one EISA).

WHY? What is the logic and purpose? It's not even as if the C:Vista partition is smaller and intended only to the tricks of the 'system' as the root 'Users' (user Documents) is on it also.

This is the default for Vista (my first use of it), if not, who said that Toshiba could do this without asking me?

How can I move the root 'Users' in Vista (in the data partition) - if I have two partitions that I might as well use it?

I can resize partitions in Vista without a utility 3 rd-party (or a complete backup/restore)?

    Hello just YOU

Please don't be offended because there is no reason for this. You bought the new product with the factory settings. Toshiba and other hardware manufacturer do not know every customer personally and, unfortunately, it was not possible to ask YOU how to set up YOUR laptop.

Because of this, there is a recovery of product support that allows to configure the HARD disk according to your wishes and needs.

Please use this DVD and install OS how you want it to be. What recovery procedure starts, you will see CONFIGURATION option on the right side. Click on it and choose the right option.

Reinstall the OS and enjoy your life. Really, I don't have the time to write on the floors of two partitions, because this is basic stuff and you probably don't want to waste your time to read this.

    Bye and good luck!

I have a new iMac 21 "with El Capitan installed. I created a partition Windows 10 but in the case of Windows, I can only get sound through headphones (it seems by default helmet optional). Also I can't use WIFI, but I connected LAN and work. Finally, my keyboard is the Apple keyboard with numeric keypad, which works very well under OS X, but does not recognize the numeric keypad in Windows. Can someone help me find the right drivers? As a note: I didn't install through Bootcamp in OS X (kept getting errors during installation), I was able to succeed through the Super Drive, so no, I can't install the drivers through Bootcamp assistant in Windows.

There is no wizard Bootcamp in Windows. It is only on the side of OS X. You can download BC6 drivers for a USB (regardless of the Deputy BC) of the side OS X using BCA and run setup.exe in the Bootcamp folder.

What were the issues with BC Wizard tries to install W10?

  • I reformatted my T520 with the recovery disk, but Windows cannot start

I reformatted my T520 with my recovery disk. When the computer restarts, it says that Windows cannot start properly. Help, please.

I finally solved the problem; Here is my solution:

I have determined that the backup image has been bad, and this is perhaps why the recovery disks have been as bad. I tried to use both to reformat the C:\drive several times without success. Fortunately, I had a Windows 7 disc from another computer that I no longer use. However, the T520 would not be updated to Windows 7 using this disk, so I run Diskpart to reformat all (this removes everything, including the image.) Then, I was able to reinstall Windows 7.

With this new facility, would not any responsible drivers, including LAN and wireless drivers. I went on the Lenovo Web site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?selector=expand to download the driver for "Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg). This provided wireless access to the computer. (Downloaded the driver on another computer, saved on a USB stick to transfer to the T520.) Restarted the computer in case where. Then, I went to http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=TVSU-UPDATE to download ThinkVantage System Update 5.0. After you have installed this software and reboot, all the necessary drivers would be so loaded.

Unfortunately, if you don't have any Windows disk, you will need to pay 50 dollars to get one from Lenovo. Lesson learned? Next time I buy a new computer, the first thing I would do is to reformat and reload the computer by using the image while still under warranty. I did several times with my other Lenovo laptops without fail. I have to do this once every 3 years each time my computer seems to slow down. This is the first time, it didn't work.

I hope this help anyone who is in the same situation.

(Boy, I have miss the good old days when I could fix everything from the DOS command prompt.)

  • Installation of XP is no longer recognized by the Setup disk after Format of Partition

    Hey all,.

In short, my problem is that I have an installation of XP (home or professional) intact windows, but after deleting another partition, the computer does not start to it. My question is what are all the things needed for a computer can be started on the windows partition - even just to the loading screen (which files are needed on the partition, for example boot.ini file, which must be in the MBR, how to mark a partition as bootable; etc.). Here is a description of exactly what has happened and what is the current situation:

I was working on a friend's computer, and he asked me to delete the partition that it has not been used (D) and melt in his primary partition (C) where was the installation of Windows. I used a program called Easeus to format the partition for Windows let me to merge. The program asks for a restart, and then it is initialized to a screen where he deleted the partition, then restarted once again, probably to load Windows.

That's where the trouble starts. Instead of windows, I have nothing else than a cursor flashing ("_") in the upper left of the screen. After 60 seconds, nothing was. I rebooted a couple of times, still no windows.

The first thing I tried was to throw the disc to reinstall the window. I got to the screen configuration and supported on entry to choose a windows installation to repair, however he could not find one on the drive C (or D). I then tried to install Windows on drive D, hoping at least to be able to access the files on your computer with a parallel installation and then clean things later, but the installation struck a BSOD (sorry I don't have the message). The last thing I tried using the recovery console, but the only one installation of Windows that he found was on the D drive (I guess it was the remains of the failed installation that I had tried just because it contained only a few system files).

So I still need an operating system to access the files on the C drive, so I did an installation of Fedora Linux (on a small new partition in drive D). I could check on the files and they were all intact, including the Windows system files. I could not find anything wrong with the partition, except for the apparent absence of a file boot.ini on drive C. I tried to add a boot.ini file by default (even though I wasn't sure exactly what should be in it). I can only assume that when my friend had the computer built with partition by a local technology company, they did the D drive partition bootable, but put the Windows files on the C drive. It makes no sense, but I can't find any other reason format another partition that windows would make it unbootable.

The problem is, now, I have GRUB installed to Fedora. GRUB cannot boot directly on Windows, so he has to begin on an another bootloader that can. I think I have GRUB pointing to the right partition, but I get an error message. So, what I want to know from a point of view of Windows is everything necessary for a successful boot, assuming I can get GRUB to work on his end. What should a healthy Windows boot look - exactly, what should happen?

The other option, of course, must do a fresh install of Windows on drive C (and hope for no BSOD more). I could put all the files on the partition of Fedora and move them back after the relocation. So what you think - is it worth a try even to save the current installation of Windows?

Feel free to ask questions or for clarification. I have a limited capacity to test things, I have to wait until I can get to his computer. Your help is very appreciated!

  • CHANGE THE MAIN ADMIN ACCOUNT: WINDOWS 7

    Hi all

I want to change the main admin account on Windows 7, so I can remove the second account admin on my machine.

I put my machine using my admin account but had a problem with and an Adobe program. Adobe technology has created a second admin account, account now appears to be set as primary and I can not change the options for the account, much less delete it but I would like to make.

Can someone tell me if there is a solution to this?

    See below:

    1. This is my main account, and he's always been. I click on 'manage another account '.

    2. He takes me to the screen. I click on "Administrator". Administrator. "

    3. no options to change the account are available. This is the account that Adobe technology created AFTER the story of 'Kevin Byers' had been used as my main admin account.

The strange thing is that these options ARE available on my main account. The FIRST account created on this machine.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS THE ACCOUNT I USED TO LOG IN.

So I guess the question is: why was the SECOND admin account changed to primary school, why can't change this back, and why I can delete the account I'm logged in from this account?

I've been racking my brain and no one I know can help. Searches provide nothing, so if you have anything it would be appreciated.

    Hi all

So I guess the question is: why was the SECOND admin account changed to primary school, why can't change this back, and why I can delete the account I'm logged in from this account?

I've been racking my brain and no one I know can help. Searches provide nothing, so if you have anything it would be appreciated.

Your problem is mainly due to some confusion.

There is no 'primary' admin account in Windows 7. There are '' integrated '' account called "Administrator". It's still there. You can't create, edit or delete. Adobe technology has not created the it. He simply allowed her.

You can disable the built-in Administrator account by using the sequence of steps shown below. Before you do, you should create, test, and document an alternative admin account. Why? It's for the same reason that you have a spare key to your House. A lot of people have in diabolical trouble in case something goes wrong with their one and only the account Admin happens all the time. With spare admin account, you are safe.

    1. Log in under your own admin account.
    2. Click the start planet.
    3. Type these letters: cmd.exe
    4. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter.
    5. Accept the challenge.
    6. Enter the following command and press ENTER:
NET user administrator / active: No.
