  So I was told that we could add still 3 500 GB disks to our 5 existing RAID, which was already 3 500 GB drives installed. I discovered that I need to upgrade to 5 in order to correctly add storage (two windows 2003 servers are VM). I found out that we also have the free version, so my question is if we have updated with the free version of 5.5 it will allow me to see the readers?

  One of the important questions is to find out if your hardware is supported by the new version!

  With regard to the extension of RAID. What could be possible – if your RAID controller supports - is to add 3 additional drives in RAID5 set and create an additional logical volume on the additional disk space, rather than to increase the existing logical volume (which would not work because the data store size limit of ~ 2 TB). This way you would end up with two data warehouses, one with ~ 1 TB first/existing and new with ~1.5TB.

  Like many others, share my Menu is empty after the upgrade to El Capitan. By running the recommended command here has no effect.   Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

  The login screen is displayed even if you normally connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

  Test in safe mode. Same problem?

  After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of steps 1 and 2.

  I have problems with my Pro 6. I was never able to get my Raid 5 storage for make sense. Is less than the correct figure of total storage? I thought that must be read higher than 10 TB.

  Am I missing something?

  

  Looks like you have reached the limit of extension of volume 8 TB.

  What drives and how many have been installed when you have finally done a factory reset (clear all data, settings, everything)?

  Before going to another HARD drive, I started to search.

  In the configuration menu, I get the SATA ACHI or IDE EMULATION... no Raid.

  I extensively searched and could not find any information that indicates support for a RAID configuration.

  If there is no RAID option in the BIOS, I don't think you can set up a RAID configuration.

  Unfortunately this is not a configuration supported because you cannot connect to a controller module raid with another raid controller module... You must use a MD1200 behind the MD3200.

  Is it possible to make an extension line of an already configured RAID 5 raid to RAID 10? There are currently three 3TO NLS disks configured in RAID 5 on a Perc H310. I intend to add a fourth disc of 3 to NLS, and I would go from RAID 5 to RAID 10 without having to wipe and restore. Is this possible?

  Yes, this comes from the User Guide (I've linked to the complete documentation above), but it is also said (and included in the technical specifications of the Dell RAID controller):

  I know that this question has been asked before to ESX3.5 but I was wondering if there was any changes for vSphere 4.

  We have a race double controllers Raid HP MSA2012i with 6 x 500 GB in RAID 10 with a storage records unique vdisk (belonging to the controller A) virtual machine providing 3 x ESX 4.0 host.  As we now have more than 80% of the storage, I bought a number of expansion disks (6 extra).  Reading the previous posts it seems like I can either:

  • Build a separate vdisk and present this distinct way storage on the ESX Server and maybe put this B controller for redundancy
    
  • Build a separate vdisk and add a scope to the current virtual storage (do not know what the risks are thereby)
    
  • Another option that I have not yet thought of
    

  Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

  I would probably choose the first option. Create a new vDisk and present on controller B. Not only for redundancy, but more for load balancing/distribution. In addition, you can consider using RAID 5 instead of RAID 10, for example, if you do not really need. This gives you much more capacity and I don't think that for this reason, you will notice a difference of performance on ESXi. According to the specifications of the individual virtual machine you can then place them on the appropriate vDisk. However, remember that ESX 4.x still has a 2 TB limit less 512 bytes for a single LUN, so you will need to present the disk pace in several smaller sections. With ESX 5.0, this limit doesn't exist anymore.

  I installed ESXi4.1 on a usb key, the server has a configuration raid 5 with 6 TB of storage. As we all know Vmware will see LUN 2 TB minus 512 b. How can I create LUNS over there? People mention extensions is there a way to do this. I am not concerned if it is supported so that it works.

  Welcome to the community - according to the RAID card you have to go to the hardware RAID card BIOS and create logical Volumes that are below the limit of 2 TB.

  You can see the problem: if I struck out the LUN I introduce vmware and vmware tries stripe scope (which is already deleted material), it would be bad for the performance.

However, until the initial capacity is filled with this additional allocation of capacity is not yet put to use.   "Additional capacity with disk spanning does not necessarily add additional I/O for this VMFS volume flow capabilities. Increased storage capacity does not, however, lead. If properly deployed on the underlying storage array, the additional capacity may be affected on batteries other than the first logic unit number and will result in additional throughput capacity as well.   All that being said, it is recommended to avoid the use of extensions if and when possible.

• Edge SC1430 P: Expansion 1 RAID existing

  Server PowerEdge with SAS 5/iR controller with two 300 GB drives in RAID 1.  I need to expand available space.  I haven't checked if the current readers are SAS or SATA drives yet.

  I would like to replace the existing disks with 2 x 2 hard drives SAS of TB, but I'm not sure of the simple/more safer way to copy the data from the current table.  Ideally, I would like to be able to install the drives and copy the data without having to reinstall the operating system that is on its own partition on the table.  This would mean swapping one at a time and copy of data or rebuild the RAID.  As readers are different I don't know if this is possible.  Will it take external material duplication / shopping carts to make this sweet?

  You only have an option with your controller: backup on external media, remove the discs, new install, configure RAID and restore.

  The SAS 5/iR:

  • Does not support the extension of any sort, so once you re-create each player, your table will remain its original size, with no way to increase
  • Does not support the 'cutting' (AND only support a single VD), you cannot create an another VD using additional space on the disc after the reconstruction of one at a time
  • Support only a single VD, so you cannot copy directly on a VD-by-side with the existing one

  I can't find using Extensions Safari/Safari. This looks like an extension that will be hi-jack your engine of choice, research and direct them to another search engine. It is perhaps the one that directs you to the Yahoo search engine.

  Check the box next to the extension name to allow.

  Activate the extension and click on the "Uninstall" button to uninstall it.
