  I have two Macs. The two are not up-to-date on the operating system. One is a former PPC-Intel Power Mac G5 (running 10.4.8). This PPC has logic music software from apple and other software, that I like to keep the versions they all. I want to back up the entire hard drive please. Never done and need to know how?

  The iMac I see a time machine... .the iMac running 10.6.8 and it seems pretty simple how to backup.

  My question contains the questions above for backup but also do I need a hard disk dedicated for each backup of the computer, or can I partition a huge hard drive.

  Also, so just save a computer for example do I need a dedicated external hardrive or can I use a space between an external hardrive with enough space for a backup.

  Every Mac should have at least 1 backup HD dedicated. When it comes to backup, it is wise to also have redundant backups because too backups fail! I have 3 Mac (iMac, Mac Mini & MacBook Air), each has 2 HD attached for redundant backups. Although I know that it is more expensive that you wanted to hear, it gives a pretty good backup level. It would be extremely rare to lose the primary storage and two backups, but I lost the primary and a backup at least 2 times!

  In my case, I use Time Machine and SuperDuper as my backup solutions and also to use OWC (www.macsales.com) as my EHD.

• External hardrive WD not recognized by Windows 7

  I can't get my external hardrive WD to be recognized by Windows 7.  The hard drive is a model more old, 500 GB.  Model number WD500H1U-00.  I tried to go to the website of WD driver and can't find a driver that works with Windows 7.  Whenever I click on my model number, it indicates that the drive works with Windows 2000 and XP.  Is this OK or I do something wrong when I try to download the driver?  Any help in this matter would be a great help.  Thank you very much.

  It requires no driver, it's a USB 2 key if its not work when you plug it in win7 should automatically detect it.

• AAA authentication for external router through PIX 515

  I have been in vain, to get the authentication AAA works to my external router, through the PIX.

  When I connect the router directly within that network (bypassing the PIX) AAA works fine, so I know the configuration of the AAA works between the router and the ACS server.

  Initially, I got the PIX configured with a static map between a global external address 192.x.x.12 and a 10.200.1.187 for the ACS server local address, but that didn't work either. So, currently I am using NAT exemption for the ACS server, but it does not work either.

  If I activate the debug on the PIX package, I see the ACS authentication request and response between the router and GBA when I try to connect to the router, but it is not successful. After the three way TCP handshake, the router repeats it is last receipt, and then the ACS asked an RST.

  The attached diagram shows the simple connection that I'm trying to create.

  What to do is:

  1 PIX:

  -static map the ACS/GANYMEDE to a public IP address

  static (inside, outside) x.x.x.10 10.1.1.25 netmask 255.255.255.255

  -otherwise, if you have enough public IP, use the port forwarding for card IP ACS to PIX outside IP of the interface, IE x.x.x.2, via a specific TCP 49:

  public static tcp (indoor, outdoor) interface 49 10.1.1.25 49 netmask 255.255.255.255

  * allow ACS talk to external router via public IP

  Create/add entry for ACL applied to the outside interface to allow the GANYMEDE Protocol + switch router external to the ACS:

  access outside permit tcp host XXX1 host x.x.x.10 eq 49 list (Ganymede + use tcp 49)

  outside access-group in external interface

  * x.x.x.1 = outside the router

  2 ACS

  -Add the outside router IP (FastEthernet face PIX outside interface) interface as a client of the AAA

  -Making of course secret key is identical at ACS and router

  3. the outside router

  -Add the ACS as radius-server using its IP public, as mapped in PIX which is x.x.x.10.

  -check the key AAA statement is accurate.

  The test without saving the config is outside the router. Save ok once confirmed.

  I have similar facility before, and it worked very well.

  I need to get a new laptop and am considering the purchase of an HP 14 Stream. He's only got 32 GB of storage in offline so dependent on the cloud storage mainly. I have an external hardrive too well.

  The program itself takes only about 1 GB of disk space. But you probably want to Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or another program partner. The folder that contains my catalog of about 12 000 images takes up another 11 GB of disk space. This folder could be placed on your external hard drive. I think that it is possible to run Lightroom on that small of a hard drive without any difficulty. I would still install the Lightroom program on the hard disk. But everything else could be on your external drive.

  My problem is that after external monitor goes to sleep and then wakes up again the image on the screen is bigger than the screen acctualy. This means that I don't see a part of the image (my office) as part of the taskbar and my settings is changed into 59Hz instead of 60, so when I change them back to 60 hz in Panel intel HD graphics everything looks ok, but it happends once again after the monitor going to sleep How to solve this problem?

  Sure. An external hard drive is an excellent choice as a destination to backup all your important files (Word documents, spreadsheets calculate, emails, photos, videos, etc.). If you don't regularly back up your files, you run the very real risk of losing all!

I can find it in the Device Manager > dic readers the wdc wd50-00uuu3a0 USB key but if I go to storage > disk management it does not, from my understanding, it should be here and im supposed to initializze it, but I'm not.   It is always possible.  As I said, USB drives are usually easy to install.  Simply plug connect them to the USB port and they are automatically installed and ready to use.  I'll try to return it for a replacement see if this solves the problem (it can't hurt).  First of all, I would like to try to plug this device on another computer and see if it is recognized without any problems - then we know there is something on your PC and this disc which do not work correctly together for some reason any.  Perhaps the reader is not compatible with Vista or Windows7 - confirmed that it is www.microsoft.com/windows//windows - of thecompatibility withvista.
