    Hello

I bought a new external hard drive (elements Western digital 1 TB) and my laptop is also new (windows 7).

When I connect my external hard drive, its getting detected in the bottom right of the machine by displaying a small icon. considering that, the external hard drive is not displayed in my computer.

In disk management, his appears as Disk1, on right click on it, getting only "convert the dynamic disk' and 'Properties' are enabled.

In disk management, in the list of volumes, 5 empty volumes are also there. Right click on these only "Delete Volume" is enabled. "Change drive letter and paths" is disabled.

Please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you.

    Yo!

A bit of a ball in the twilight. I'm wondering is someone else had this unit, tried to change the way it has been implemented and "messed up." I would take this one back and get another - especially if you got it in one of the "big box" stores If you're inclined to try to fix it, be aware that this may affect your ability ot return it for Exchange or credit. Depends the seller policies.

Right mouse click have the drive in the list to see the options. If they are correctly set, it may be possible to simply assign a drive letter to each volume of 'empty' If this configuration is OK with you.

Otherwise, the fix would involve will use the facilities of disc to remove the present volumes, and then creating one or more. Make sure that you choose to format the logical disks as and assign it a drive letter. See the Windows Help system.

I did everything I can to make this work, without result.
    Now what?

    Thank you.

    Try these:

2 try it on another computer, if its does not work, try to replace the cable with a good known working cable.

    3. open the Device Manager, see if there is an unknown device under Bus USB controllers, do a right-click and then uninstall it. If this does not work uninstall everything under USB controllers then reboot, they should put it back.

I have Windows Vista and my external hard drive has stopped working. The last time that I used it I plugged it in my computer hp Pavilion laptop to transfer files. I deactivated and activated the device, but it still shows nothing in my computer screen. The light on the drive is on and the computer displays the option to delete security downstairs, but when I go into my computer, nothing shows up. I tried to put it on different machines, but it does the same thing he he reconizes but does not show the drive in my computer screen. Is my hard drive in ruins or is there a possible fix?

If you encounter the same problem with it on different machines, it seems to be a flaw in the hard drive itself.

I suggest that you contact Western Digital for this topic.

  • Western digital external USB 2.0 500 GB hard drive not recognized by Windows 7 Explorer. How can I fix it? ___Thank you for your help.

The hard drive worked well until KB2398632 & KB2347290 updates have been downloaded and installed on 16/09/10.  Hard drive works fine on my Vista machine at work.

On my own machine (Windows 7), the drive is seen in my BIOS.  He also appeared in the "features and properties" of the control panel Windows 7 and the 'properties' indicates that the device is functioning properly.  The pilot is also updated.

It does not appear in the Windows 7 Explorer under 'computer '. Only the C: drive is indicated.

My AMD South Bridge set drivers are up to date my USB 3.0 being drivers.

Western Digital 500 GB external hard drive is several years old.

two updates have no effect to detect the hardware. It was an IE and and update printer spooler. Remove it from the Device Manager and plug it into another USB port. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • Western Digital external hard drive not recognized in Vista

This computer is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with Service Pack 2.

I have connected an external Western Digital (My Book).  Sometimes the HD appears in devices such as WD My Book IEEE 1394 SBP @. Device Manager, and sometimes it isn't. ????

No matter, it NEVER so appears as a disc when I look in Windows Explorer. ???

    Help, please!

    Thank you.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers (and you shouldbring at least for an external hard drive and all you have time to do - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), let the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.

  • Western Digital external hard will not be displayed in the Finder or disk utility

So I am certainly not the most tech-savvy person ever, but I'm not completely helpless on a computer, and I'm trying to help a friend with pulling content on an old external hard drive Western Digital (product No: WDBABW0010BSL-00;) ( http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Passport-Portable-External/dp/B003DC8D8I).

Initially, I looked in the Finder for the hard disk appears, but nothing has ever, even after 15 minutes to be connected. After that, I went my utility application of disc to see if something has shown there, but again, no luck. I made sure that the micro-usb cable works, who he was and the hard drive itself did a light which is turn on, plus you can feel physically the disc rotates inside the hull to the touch on the case itself, so I know there is be able to get on the external hard drive.

From this point, however, I am at a loss for what to do next. I read some of the other help topics, but I have not found anything like that, but that works for me.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help!

Have you tried this WD drive in another Mac with the same results?

    How old is the drive?

I know that I had a problem once with a WD drive that had this type of behavior, and I could not use any utility software disc 3rd party on it to retrieve files or disk to repartition/format utility there. The drive is running but not visible anywhere on any Mac. My situation is that the drive had nothing of value to this topic, I used a top hammer so that nobody else could get something on it when I threw it in the trash.

  • IO error 0x8007045D with Western Digital External Hard Drive in Windows 7

I have a Western Digital 1 TB external hard drive, and I am currently running Windows 7.  When I try to move files on the hard drive I get the error 0x8007045D i/o and it won't let me move or copy the file.  What can I do to fix this?

Error 0x8007045d is "ERROR_IO_DEVICE" - "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error."

Check the behavior in a clean boot, or insafe mode.  If it persists, you will have a problem with the external hard drive.

  • 1.5 TB external DRIVE not recognized on various laptops disk

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help me.

I bought my 1.5 terrabyte toshiba external hard drive just for more than a year. It works fine on my other computer, laptop and cell phone from my boyfriend, but when I joined four other new laptops (all different brands) recently it was not recognized at all on these laptops.

Is there something wrong with my outside or something on these computers it prevents to be recognized? Do you know how I can fix this problem?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

And if you connect the external HARD drive to your boyfriend s computer laptop, everything is always ok? Only problems with new laptops?

Well that s really strange have you tried another USB cable and different USB ports?

Maybe on the new laptops the antivirus or firewall blocks access to the external hard drive. Check your security software and to allow external devices.

  • Western Digital external hard drive to backup impossible after installing the MS Fix It program

I installed MS difficulty it program and since then, I had backup problems with my external hard drive WD (Western DigitaL).  I've used this for many months to back up my entire computer, using my Norton program, and now I get the message that there is a problem "with the back up.  He asks me to check if the device is connected, (it is of course!).  I also noticed that my external hard drive has been changed to 'F' to 'G' after I installeld Fix It.  That's fine, but WHY?  Is it considered a CORRECTION device?

WHAT'S PAST AND HOW I CAN GET THIS BACK TO NORMAL, SO I CAN EASILY BACK UP AGAIN? It's very frustrating.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • external device not recognized

    Hello

    I'm trying to control a DSO6032A AGILENT GPIB-USB (82357 B) connected to my computer.

I followed the instructions for the GPIB-USB, so the cable between the computer and the agilent is OK.

I see even my AGILENT is connected via the software I have installed for the GPIB-USB:

According to the instructions I found on the Web site of nor, I would then be able to find my AGILENT NI Max - devices & interfaces (here, ' peripherals and interfaces').

However, I can't find my GPIB interface. The only thing that appeared is the device "LPT1", and when I try to open test of VISA control, I get an error:

    Error opening resource:
    ASRL10::INSTR

VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0011) information about the position are insufficient or well either the device or resource is not present in the system.

What I first thought was that I had no drivers for my AGILENT, and so it seemed:

However, I already downloaded the AGILENT 6000 series driver on NOR, who understand the device I am using.

And it seems that the device is not recognized by LabVIEW (see connected Instruments)

    Which makes sense for someone?

Should what steps I take to be able to use my instrument on LabVIEW?

    Clement Z.

Install an instrument driver is not relevant and trying to talk to a non-existent parallel port is stupid. Since you have decided to do not use a NI GPIB controller, you spend some effort of extras on getting MAX, to see your controller and instrument. The instructions should be on the Keysight site. One of the things you need to do is to activate the Tulip support. You should be the primary, if I remember NI-VISA.

Sometimes when the hard disk becomes incredibly full, you can even copy files to an external hard drive. In such cases, simply pull the disk and put in a USB external hard drive case. Attach it to a working computer and copy the data in this way, either on a drive in the system of work or another external hard drive (it will be slower). Delete the data out of the full disc. • Satellite L670 - 1JP external HDD not recognized at startup

I bought an external hard drive Samsung G3. The first time I plugged it, it was directly recognized by my Toshiba Satellite L670-1JP and worked without any problems.

But later almost whenever I start my computer, it is not the external hard drive. Then I have to disconnect reconnect en USB connection several times to make it work.

It is your time, so how can I solve this problem?

    Hello

Other USB devices work properly in the laptop Satellite L?

Have you tested this disk external DRIVE with other computers/laptops?

I think that you should do this because it might be an external HARD drive failure.
