External network to Vcloud Director.

Hello

Why are external network created in the Vcloud directory (I read that it is used to connect Vcloud Director to the outside world). What exactly will be the outside world, and if I don't want to connect the vcloud Director to any other network, I can't ignore the creation of the external network?

Kind regards

Vikram kumar. P

Yes, it's fine.  If you want a completely encapsulated environment, you cannot use SSH/RDP to access systems.  You must use the VMRC for access, and you will need to install the software of the ISO in the catalog.

It can be limiting, but works well for a completely confined environment.

  • How VPN from my PC at home to my network of vCloud Director?

    Greetings.

    I would like to than VPN from my home to my vCloud network office. I have a vDC on vCloud Director 1.5 (offers my provider, I know it's outdated), and it is connected to the internet with a static external IP address - 203.59*.x.x. The vDC has 2 virtual machines.

    -J' did some reading and found where to configure VPN site to site network properties. After clicking on "Activate VPN site-to-site", what do I do next? If I add > remote network, I'm supposed to fill my 'peer IP' - that is the IP assigned randomly my ADSL modem gets to the internet service provider? It feels useless, because it changes whenever I'm in again. What is my "door of peers"? Is it my home router, 10.1.1.1?

    -In addition, how one configures the VPN dialer on the desktop itself? When I tried it, it prompted me to add a user name and a password, but there was no requirement these when I enabled VPN on vCloud Director.

    The documentation, I found online about this reference to vCloud Director 5.1, which is not what I use, or difficult for me to understand. A guide step by step would be great. Long story short, I have no idea of what I'm doing and could use some help. Thank you.

    Site to another looks to fill two networks via VPN.  This config page you are looking at is saying connect this vShield edge gateway to another VPN device at a remote location.  the? is the IP at the remote location configuration.

    I don't think it's like a PPTP or OpenVPN connection as you would get on DD - WRT or something like that.  It's just a site to join sites, not Client Server (the server, you are the customer).  Although it may be possible, I did not do.

  • vCloud Director network configuration external network

    Hi all! For the configuration of external network within vCloud Director, I have a vDS configured with several groups of ports.  Each port group has a tag of vlan specific and no trunking.  My question is when I create the external network I can use the port group specific enumerated or what I need to set up a completely separate portgroup for this?  Also, if I can you my existing port groups that are specifically for each company in our environment, when I continue to configure the external network and click on finish, or if it cause a breakdown to the virtual machines currently in this group of port?  Thanks in advance for all help!

    If you use directly connect external Org network, then the existing portgroup will work.  If you use an external org routed network, then edge will be created using the portgroup you specified for the external network and creating a new portgroup for the routed network ext org portion.

  • Why must id VLAN unique for each external network?

    Sometimes we have several public networks with the same VLAN, but in this case, we could not add them as external network to vCloud Director, he complains that the VLAN ID has been used, then assign a VLAN ID for each public network. Could someone explain to me why a unique id of VLAN is needed here?

    Thank you!

    If they are the same vLAN on the same Switch, they are actually exactly the same from the point of view of the vCloud Director.

    The alternative is to see if the superposition of external networks allows it works (Admin > General).

  • Why 5.5 vcloud Director only has not the ability "add a network to an organization?

    I have deployed the ovules of Director 5.5 vcloud in my lab environment and watching videos. In the videos, the guy has deployed vcloud Director 1.5 eggs. I noticed that this homepage of vcloud Director 5.5 is not the option 'Add a network at an organization' as in vcloud Director 1.5.

    Did remove this feature in 5.5. Then I thought that it could be controlled from within the Organization after you create it, but again once I created the Organization, there is no option to add a network to this organization? I'm playing something here? How can we tolerate that they are private, the administrator of the Organization to create a network that is using a NAT or directly connected to the external network on the fly and remove it once it is not necessary. I though that it was a feature of the vcloud Director.

    I used the EGG apparatus, I have use the .bin file.

    Your help is appreciated. !!

    You EF network pool Org vDC wide (it's in properties)

    At the same time that you create a network Org inside the Org vDC going to just use the current network are entrusted to him.  Then, you make all your usual choices.  to do this, vDC display Org itself... go to list of org vDC in manage and monitor, and then double-click the VCC Org that you want to add a network.

    VAPP networks work exactly the same, create you them at the time the vApp is created.  This will use the network pool that is currently assigned to the Org vDC when the TIME Gets deployed.

    Overall, the function at the level of the consumer (org users) is the same, the process-level administration system has changed a bit.

  • networks of external organizations to vcloud

    Hello

    I'm new to vcloud Director, we currently use vmware Lab Manager.

    I'm trying to set up similar options to the Manager of vmware lab where at deploy time user might choose to connect to a physical external network and deploy these options as a company internal network or a public network that is accessible from anywhere. The virtual machines themselves contained accessible internal IP between them

    Is it possible to do so in the vcloud? It seems that external networks /organizations must be previously assigned to the VAPP model by the admin model, and the user can choose only this model VAPP.

    Thank you.

    Stan,

    If you capture the vApp on a model like exact copy, then users cannot change settings of network at the time of the deployment as you might in LM.  They can change it after the TIME has been deployed well that you don't want by going to the network tab within the vApp, adding the other network, update of the card NETWORK for each virtual computer settings, then delete that.

    If you capture the vApp model as a copy the user will have to create all the network settings, which is a pain as well.

  • vCloud Director Networking scenario does not work

    Hello

    I'll put up a vApp to connect to a routed OrgNetwork which in turn is directly connected to an external network.  BTW - I know VAPP networks allows to let them out for now.

    On the routed OrgNetwork, I added a few addresses IP NAT - tab external IPs and created manually NAT mappings.

    When turn the VAPP I see vse deployed and everything looks good, however:

    1. I don't see the Edge vShield icon appear on the diagram of vApp

    2. the virtual machine in the VAPP doesn't get the external IP assigned the mapping created previously.

    Can someone give me directions?  The enclosed screenshots give more details.

    Points will be awarded

    -gogogo5

    That's right - also note that with the networks VAPP, the external IP address is not visible when you use a type of NAT Port Forwarding (only for the translation of the IP)

    org network is like a network of the VAPP/VM can connect to.

    If you do an org network, create a vApp and attach the virtual machine directly to the org network.

    However, if you have only 1 group of ports in the pool of network... you get ONLY 1 network (org or vapp) not both.

    In almost all cases I've seen, they do not use a Port supported group pool... VXLAN or vCNI are the most common options.  for most since a single vLAN = 1000 + networks.

    If you wanted a network to the 'outside world' remove your network pool (separate from the org vdc after all are deleted), create an external network to the system (via the port group)... make an external network in the Organization related to System.  then put a virtual machine on the network it will directly in the external network.

    having a pool of network could do an extra layer.  like having a local network with a gateway to the outside world.

  • Change the default gateway on the external network

    Hello all,.

    vCloud 5.1.0

    I have a vCD external network that is currently in use and I would like to change the default gateway but it is gray with the network mask.

    Because this network is used by a direct network defined in OVDC and already in use by VMs, remove, time that the same network with new gw is not an option.

    Does anyone know a way to change the front door without removing the external network? ... I wouldn't mind tapping into the basis of vCD (that runs on MSSQL) if someone could provide me with the table where gw is defined.

    Thank you

    PD

    Officially, you must delete and re-add.  This has been true for all versions of vCloud Director.

    Please understand her below is not officially supported.

    If you are looking in the database, it is probably IP_scope you are looking for.  Locate your scope and to update correctly.  If you have multiple scopes that use the same DG, you will not be able to tell which is which unless the DNS entries are unique.  You can temporarily disable the range of IP addresses on the network that will define the column is_enable by 0 (false)... which will make it easier to locate.

  • vCloud Director vCloud connector installation

    I try to get vCloud connector installed inside vCloud Director. I deployed a VCC vCC node and server in my network ExternalRouted and I am following http://pubs.vmware.com/hybridcloud/index.jsp to a T.

    I can access my vCloud knot web server interfaces and fine, but when I try to register that a node with the server is just completely turns off. The VCC server can ping the SCR node with the NATed IP of 192.168.60.24.
    It is located on this screen and two tracks and leave real quick or he just completely dies. I tried to switch to the Public as well, but it's still doesn't work.

    -Screen Shot 2012-02-23 at 2.24.37 PM.png

    If I go to the server and I click the button on Client vSphere or cloud.vmware.com I see this error and that doesn't look good.

    -Screen Shot 2012-02-23 at 2.27.55 PM.png

    I have completely open ports in firewall for these two vApps and not *'s everywhere, and it always shows the same errors.

    I was able to complete the vCloud connector install with zero problems when I just did a normal vSphere OVF import save it on my server vCenter. This isn't a problem with the OVFs.

    Thanks for any help.

    I have not tried.  Of course in my setup, my NŒUD is vCloud with a NAT address and which works very well.  It is the SCR is the issue because it needs access to vCenter Server.  You can try to use an external live... or just move right in vCenter

  • Get a next available external network IP

    Hello

    I am trying to automate the deployment of nested environments that require external network connections. I'm looking for a way to determine the next free IP available from a given external networks IP pool. I can get the list of IP addresses in the pool, the number used and total number total free but have been unable to find a method to show what is free then.

  • vCloud connector - cannot copy VAPP vCloud Director to vSphere

    Evening,

    Try to copy a paralytic to vCloud Director on vCenter 5.5 5.6 using vCloud connector 2.7.

    The scenario:

    -vCloud Director fully configured with one Org, an Org vDC and a catalog.

    -The catalog is entirely filled, shared and published.

    -Org and catalog are configured to allow the publication to external organizations;

    -vCenter and vCloud Director have been added to vCloud connector via vSphere Client plug-ins;

    -vCloud plug connector is able to see the entire structures of vSphere and vCD (org records, catalogs, vApps, models, etc.).

    Reproduce the error:

    -Using the vSphere Client, click on the Org vCD;

    -Go to the tab vApps.

    -Select a VAPP off engine;

    -Click on copy.

    -Select Catalog (it is marked as shared and, curiously, unpublished);

    -Select vCenter as the target;

    -Select the clusters, folders, data store, formatting the drive and so on;

    -Power On TIME after deploying (or not, does not matter);

    -Validate (managed);

    -Finishing.

    Task starts and fails in a minute (or less) with the following message:

    "Export OVF has failed. Failure when copying data to the clouds: https://< vcloud_director_fqdn >. Reason: [0e65fbc1-4e04-4924-ae06-c4377dfc97af] there is no catalog in the organization. »

    Looks as vCloud connector, for some reason, is unable to locate the catalog during deployment (although it may be perfectly visible during the Copy Wizard and in his inventory).

    I tried searching for it and can't find anything similar to this error.

    Maybe it s a vCD configuration error, but how would be? I ve already selected all types of option to allow editing of catalogue and sharing, and nothing has changed.

    I published also successfully catalog VCDs to vCloud connector content library, so nothing else makes sense to me.

    Solved.

    Created a new catalog and IS NOT published. Used for the copy. Went well.
