External storage for Android

When will be enabled external storage for Android support?

I've seen it work yesterday! It will be available in our next release on September 29. It was a labor of love for the developer, it's much harder to do than any of us expected given all the different cases to manage where people pull the cards in the middle of downloads, etc..

  • Advice of external storage for use with ESXi 3.5 (free)

I'm under ESXi 3.5 (free) on a server with internal storage.  I would buy external storage and switch my VM to it.  The virtual machines that I have running on the server are not used very often, so I don't want to put a lot in it.  Can anyone recommend an external SAN/NAS storage device that would work with ESXi 3.5 (free)?  I'm looking for maybe 500 GB - 1 TB connected to the network via Ethernet.

Less than the price of Iomega devices (the ~ $300 model) are sold to a group of work so not really high performance. If you find that this performance was not acceptable, you'd have no way to improve the system.

I would like to use your existing NAS NFS features. If this does not work out, you can always go for something with more umph.

If it is a lab test the Iomega should be fine. If it has an environment that can grow in size requirements and performance over time, you might want to try to build a more powerful Openfiler SAN/NAS.

    First try your existing infrastructure.

We design our site out of backup plan.  We have two physical servers that we want to fix external storage for data backup and replication devices.

    (1) we know if USB 3.0 is supported in ESXi 4.1 and if the actual flow is nowhere close to 5 GB/s?

    (2) what is the fastest external device would you recommend to attach

I would look for a NAS device that supports NFS. A NFS device can connect to ESXi hosts as a data store and can be assembled and disassembled if necessary.

  • Presentation of external storage as Local to the SQL virtual servers

    Hello.

Obligatory "I'm new" and 'sorry if this is in the wrong place' withdrawals.

I have two SQL Server virtual machines (running on ESX 3.5) which I am (at the level of the BONE) clustering for redundancy.  All their storage would come from two HP AiO servers storage or local storage of the ESX Server.  For now, we don't have VirtualCenter.

I need to present some sort of external storage for these virtual machines that they can (a) recognize as local so I can store files .mdf for SQL server on it, and (b) which can be configured as a cluster resource, so either can be accessed in the event of another machine down.

I tried to create a new virtual hard disk, pointing to the raw space on some of my existing storage, but "raw device mapping" is greyed out.  I guess it's because he needs a real San for gross external storage as a virtual disk local card.  I also tried new creation and extensions adding storage to the storage devices in the configuration of ESX storage.  There's no joy.

Should I VirtualCentre or a real SAN in order to present the raw disk space to a virtual machine?  If this is not the case, how can I do?  If so, which do I need and is there some kind of fudge or skilled people getaround may suggest that fits my needs of clustered SQL Server resources?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Welcome to the forums! I have a few questions and comments.

To use a RDM in normal mode you will need a SAN/NAS/iSCSI server to get there. Since the storage of the IOA is an iSCSI SAN or a NAS you want present storage to ESX using one of these methods.  I guess that you already do using iSCSI or NFS? You are using.

I would not use Local Storage due to problems of redundancy.

You have space on your AiO storage to create another logical unit number?

A RDM is a logic unit number presented to the ESX host as a data bank that is not also a VMFS.  Once the logic unit number is presented for ESX you can do a RDM or you can do a VMFS and add another VMDK to your VM and move the .mdf for the new VMDK files. Or the other method should work. You can also access the server iSCSI directly from Windows and directly access a LUN to one end.

You have many options at this point. Which way you want to go?

    Best regards

    Hello chrismullinax,

Below, I have included a link to perform backups.  Assuming that your device is compatible, you should have the ability to perform at this place.  You need to confirm how much you have as to how many CDs of data will be needed.

  • What is the best solution when my external drive for Time Machine is full?

    Hello

I use the latest version of Mac OS X on my iMac 27 ". I use a drive outside of 3 TB G-Tech for Time Machine backup. Due to my recently many RAW photo images, I have less 8% left storage on my external hard drive, so I'm trying to figure out next steps in what concerns the strategy of external storage and have the following questions:

    • When my external drive for Time Machine is full, it is my understanding that older backups on external hard drive will be deleted to make room for newer backups. If the oldest backups contained pictures (whose records have not changed since the time they are initially stored), then I guess that these photos will be removed from the external drive - correct?
    • If I had to replace my external drive for Time Machine with a new external drive which is as big or bigger than the one it replaces, what should I expect on the size of the initial backup on the new drive? I guess the size of the backup would be exactly equal to the current amount of storage used on my drive hard iMac - correct?
    • Would it not be possible to connect the external drive for Time Machine existing at a new Time Machine external drive so that when the original disk is full, the overflow will be automatically stored on the new external hard drive for Time Machine? (If feasible, it seems that this strategy would maximize my external storage capacity vs just replace external drives.)

I realize that my first two questions are rather basic, but I don't want to make any false assumptions. The third idea is intriguing and I would like to know if this is a viable option.

    Thank you

    Brian

older files are starting to get deleted because the disk fills up then Yes, they went

the backup drive should ideally be 4 times the capacity of your current drive, twice is good but has its limits. Also factor in what you store: a jpeg from the web and a raw photo file are the two images, the size of a is very different. If you work in high-resolution or large native files, or audio files (record pro, no music files) or video production twice the disk fills up very quickly. If you collect photos and JPEG and mp3 files or a handful of videos not so much is necessary.

I would keep the old drive intact if you want to replace and start over with a new drive, if that's the plan. You have the old data, you can keep it somewhere safe and have a redundant backup which you can reconnect at any time to restore from. Let the new index drive itself with new data and take if from there, in the case otherwise you can copy the backup to the new drive and set the drive as the new source of backup but personally I wouldn't copy of the data, that's my preference, it may not be yours and that's fine.

  • How can I save my apple devices using external storage

How can I back up all my apple devices using external storage and not iCloud and iTunes

iDevices are designed only for backup of iCloud or your computer using iTunes. If you make regular backups of your iDevices to your computer using iTunes and back up your computer, then you will have a backup stored on the computer and your backup disk. You can also backup to the cloud for extra protection and convenience.

  • What external storage disk is good?

I want to buy I drive or external storage. I m from the India. Could someone recommend a good brand? I am owner of iPhone OS and iPad Air 2.

External drives will not work with an iPhone or an iPad. You would need a wireless for external storage drive. There are any number of such around Seagate, Western Digital, etc. They should all be OK to use it.

  • 10 improvement of the Windows path hangs on "place the external storage and press OK.

    Hello

This will be my first post on this forum.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Toshiba SATELLITE CL10-B-103 for my son. The CL10-B-103 has installed Windows 8.1. Tonight I plan to make the installation of the Windows 10 upgrade because Windows 8.1 announced that he was ready for the upgrade.

The trial progressed slowly but smooth and without problems until now... As the laptop is equipped with only an HD 32 GB the trial upgrade was informed that I had to stick a USB key. After that, the trial continues slowly but smoothly, but who did not question because I had all night. However after the first reboot of the system when he was about 60 or 66% of installation of process this error message showed: place the external storage and press OK. It's very strange since the key USB has been removed at all and was still in the system. It is strange, is that both the OK button as the Cancel button are not selectable. Without passing by the touchpad, not a tab or an entry.

Some community online Windows 10 post mentions that, via the BIOS, the system must be initiated from this USB key. I tried to reboot the system with DEL, F2 or F8, but I couldn't get into the BIOS and wasn't able to change the boot sequence.

After each "restart" the same error message appears. It does not matter that the USB is in it or not.

So, my conclusion is that my CL10-B-103 is suspended/East in a loop. I don't know how to proceed.

Please, I can really use some help.

    Thanks in advance.

Because it seems that I can not only edit/change a message I am answering my own post now...

The problem seems to be resolved. When I was able to use the touchpad I could push the OK butten and the upgrade product now.

  • Permanent and continuous storage for family photos large and video solution

I have been using external hard drives to save years of athletics competitions for my children, for posterity and my team amateur video (iMovie project) at the end of the season.  However, I need a failsafe, courses and the permanent storage for my thousands of photos and 300 GB of digital video clips (and more).  If I continue to use external drives, I still have readers risk bad over time.  What are my options, please?

Keep several copies on separate drives offsite. There is no solution "fail safe." You can mitigate or reduce the impact knowing that drives die, buildings burn, data gets corrupted/stolen or lost. Knowing that on the records of time bad go migrate your data to new disks on a rotation schedule.

  • Cannot copy Photos from external storage library

I want to copy my library of Photos of my iMac to an external storage device. I use an SD card to copy the files on as is the storage device external only I with sufficient capacity to store my library (21,86 GB). When I run the copy, all right, but eventually it stops about 21.5 GB (do not remember the exact number). It comes up with the error message "the Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in"Photo library"cannot be read or written. (Error code - 36) ». The library contains a very important image and video files and while I don't have a backup of it on my Time Capsule airport, I added a lot of files since then. One thing I found on other messages of the forum is to repair my library by pressing the command and option that I opened the Photos but I'm afraid that something can go wrong or could not even solve the problem, however if someone thinks he can do the trick I will try it. BTW - the SD card works fine as I tested it on my MacBook Air and it works for other files on my iMac. I also tried using a different SD card but had the same problems. I am running OSX 10.11 version (The El Capitan Public Beta Candidate GM). The reason why I have not yet updated to my computer because I'm worried cause more problems with my library of Photos and, as I said, my only relief is most likely is obsolete. I use an iMac late 2013 and I have had no other problems with my computer, or I do now with the current version, I'm running. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance and wish you a wonderful Christmas.

What format is the SD card?  The photo library can be on a volume formatted Mac OS extended (logged)

and as for backups without a good current backup that you will lose data early as things do lack, including the hardware, software and human - you need a constant backujp as TimeMachine anytime

  • Mac Pro, Flash Storage, Dropbox, and external storage Solutions

I am considering a Mac Pro to a computer in the enterprise. I hope someone can give an overview and experience with the dilemma of using a computer with a small amount of storage on board, dropbox and external storage devices.

    Background:

Mac Pro storage on board - The Mac Pro has limited onboard storage. It comes with a 256 k flash memory and is apparently expandable to 512 or 1 TB. But, I can not even know where to buy the storage upgrade. For some reason, it seems even to be available for purchase on Apple's site. I can't understand how much it costs or where to buy it. I found a link showing how to install it, but that's all.

Dropbox - Dropbox is an important part of the company, or at least my business. The tricky thing is that Dropbox doesn't seem to work very well if this does not work on an operating system main hard drive. I tried once on a Mac Mini Server, and it does not work well. I read on the Dropbox site that it doesn't work so well. The small amount of storage on board available for the Mac Pro means that it is necessary to use an external drive, which is fine with me, with the exception of the question of Dropbox. Is anyone here from an experience with this problem.

External storage - the question here is as stated above. How to get an external drive on a Mac Pro, the operating system is not installed on, to work properly. I know that most people could read this and suggest to go to the website of Dropbox support for more information. I was able to do that and have nothing. Looking for Mac people who could potentially experience.

In short, how the hell you upgrade Mac Pro flash storage... where do you get, and how much it costs?  And second, anyone experience using Dropbox on a Mac Pro, where the Dropbox folder is not located on the operating system drive.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

-Apple does not sell to replace internal storage.

-You can often find storage on eBay and other places. However, isn't that all in storage for some MacBook Pro model will work in the Mac Pro is much slower. One way to tell is that the MacBook you do not have a heatsink on them while the Mac Pro.

-You can buy external storage Thunderbolt. To access only a disc both an external case USB 3/disc is about as fast as Thunderbolt. Can get pregnant using the portable 2 1/2 standard SSD

-I did not all the posts here for the use of DB on an external drive.

  • HP Envy 15-j139TX: the BIOS using external storage recovery does not work.

My HP Envy 15-j139TX got stuck (frozen) and I force closure by long pressing the power button. I tried to start by pressing the power button, it shows a black screen (display off) and the capslock continues to Flash.

I did research on the problem and discovered that the issue was "the BIOS corruption failure" according to the information on the link below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01732674/

I tried to recover the BIOS using an external storage device by following the instructions at the link below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02693833

But it did not work. The lights keep flashing. I have my files b.SC. thesis on the computer and their need for pronto. (If not my life is pretty well made)

I also couldn't find the files for version 10 of Windows (64-bit) to my laptop, so I tried with one I downloaded from another site and I got a BIOS of Windows 8.1 HP site.

Is there anyway I can fix it soon or get my files as soon as possible. Help, please!

Have you ever updated the BIOS before?

If you have, you should be able to recover the BIOS using the Windows key + key B method.

All holding the key Windows + B button down, press the power button and wait to see if the laptop responds with a message of recovery of the BIOS on screen.

As my wife continued his mastery, I insisted on his recording of his files periodically to our home network NAS.

You can remove the hard drive and connect it to a desktop computer to get the files from it. You can connect the hard drive to a USB to sata cable to connect it to a laptop.   Instructions to access the disk by opening the back door are on page 42 of the maintenance and service guide. The hard drive is part replaceable by the user, so you don't have to worry about voiding the warranty.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03943414

Your notebook is new enough to have the recovery key enter BIOS update available. Use the F.65 version in the Windows 8.1 driver download section. the softpaq is at the following ADDRESS.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp69501-70000/sp69886.exe

You will need at least 256 MB usb key to create a USB rcovery to recover the BIOS with. BIOS update softpaq will offer the opportunity of creating a recovery USB. I used the method on multiple occasions and it worked for me.

  • Want T15 - J100 Quad Edition Tou: recover the BIOS of the laptop using an external storage device

So, from the start of my screen is empty and Caps Lock flashes 2 times.  I tried the Windows key + B + power key without success as indicted here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02693833?JumpID=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0003

I tried to recover the BIOS with an external storage device but HP's Software and driver download page does not have BIOS updated.  I've updated for Windows 10.

Where is the BIOS update that is supposed to be here? :

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-envy-15-J100-Quad-Edition-Notebook-PC-series/6521...

This model seems to have a lot of problems with what I find it everywhere on the internet, but the solutions all return to the download of the update of the BIOS.  I noticed that I can download an update for Windows 8.1.  Are there not one for Windows 10 yet?  Can I use the 8.1?

The BIOS in the list of drivers of Windows 8 is the last exit for your model. You can use it regardless of the operating system because the BIOS recovery is run outside of Windows.

BTW-to help the Windows key + B keys. When you press and release the power button / continue to hold the buttons for a few seconds see if BIOS recovery screen appears. I know that it is different from the document - but try it.
