Files in my folder of drive on my mac iCloud also exist on my hard drive?

I want to my Lightroom library on icloud backup disk, but wish that all files even exist on my computer, and not only in the cloud. This is the case if I move these files to my iCloud drive folder? I'm sorry if this is a question answered, but I've now read several guides online and can't seem to find the answer to this. Thank you.

Yes.

Currently, iCloud Drive has a local folder corresponding to your drive system hard. Byte by byte.

  • Manually remove the iOS App files in the folder "Mobile Applications" on a Mac.

In my eagerness, trying to save valuable disk space, I deleted all the files (40 GB) in the mobile apps on my mac. This folder has accumulated over 900 files app over the years. I am currently using only 160 apps on my iPhone. I deleted all the files (and emptied the Recycle Bin). After having to remove it, I was unable to download, only the applications that I use currently on the phone (160 of them), in my iTunes again (from the app store in iTunes). This is because iTunes App store thinks that I have already downloaded these applications; where I have deleted just manually in the Mobile Applications folder.

After reading on the web that it is a mistake, I got cold feet and began a restoration of my time Machine to all 900 app files back.

I started the process of restoring time Machine is because the thinning app is NOT allowing me to transfer my iTunes on mac purchases. I first thought I can "put" just the 160 apps from my phone, Mobile Applications to iTunes folder. Now, I realize that I can do is not "transfer purchases". I am on iOS 9.2.1 (6s iPhone Plus) and OS X El Captain (10.11.3) (Macbook Air).

Moreover, I have a PDF file with a list of all the files in the Mobile Applications (900 application files) folder. I did it using an application called Print window. So I did not have a detailed list of all the files (apps) that I never downloaded. This is so that I can download the Apps on my iPhone directly (from the cloud) in case I need an app on my phone, in the future

Critical how's this for keep the files in the folder of Mobile Applications on my Mac? In which case I have to restore my iPhone, applications will only download from the Cloud? If the answer is Yes to this question, I can go ahead and delete all the files in the folder of Mobile Applications manually to recover a good amount of disk space?

I hope I'm clear in my question and description.

    Thank you!

You have more need to keep a local copy of the apps. Any application that you do not have at the time of a restoration is downloaded from the cloud provided that it is always available. You can view your list of 160 apps for everything you'd be really sad to lose and keep a copy of those. You don't necessarily need in the library. As long as you have the file .ipa somewhere you can add new in your library at a later date.

After receiving advice of a friend, I did a restore from safe mode on the eve of the day when he moved and he did bring him back with all the files and files in the right place, but now I'm getting an access denied for each file, I try to play. Whether Real Player, Windows Media Player etc none will play.

Just to test, I slipped a .avi file in the folder to see if he was going to play and he did it can be the folder settings, I'm just hoping that all these files are now not corrupted and unplayable as I have some 180 GB of data in this folder in more than 1000 files.

My hard drive is currently filled by PC DM files in my folder/Public user folder.  How can I safely remove the right files in this folder?  Vista Home Premium 64 bit is my os.

    Hi templar_39,

DM (Message Delivery) file types are not Windows files, they can be generated by a third-party program.

This particular file type is often associated with audio data and can be hosted on some cell phones to be used as ringtones or multimedia clips. To my knowledge, these files can be generated by your mobile phone.

Note: you can go ahead and remove these files only if you notice that the files do not contain any important information.

If this happens without connect you all devices (like mobile PHONES), this may be a virus or malware activity. You can run a virus scan to get rid of them

Step 1: A scanner online for any threat and try to correct

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community forums. According to the description, you need help to get an alert message when you attempt to open a file, folder or drive.

The alert message you received disk and backup recovery file is supplied by the manufacturer.

There is no message alert option in Windows. You can search for any third-party application, using your favorite search engine.

  • Thousands of PES files in the root folder of drive D?

I'm under PSE 13 on a Windows 7 system. I was shocked and horrified to discover, after use of PSE 13 days that the root folder of my D: drive where I have installed PSE13 has nearly SEVEN THOUSAND files! These are for the most part of the xml, bmp, jpg, psd, mp4 and .gif files. It is an absolute no no prospects of a good Windows file system management. Applications should NEVER store hundreds or thousands of files in the folder root of the drive, one. That is why the sous-sous-sous-dossiers/sous-sous-sous-repertoires.  Can you imagine the chaos if every application developer did it?

More surely there be a way to specify where these organizing files can be stored and place them in the folder of my hard disk where they are absolutely not?

    mxgordon wrote:

... Unless it started in PES 11 I had installed before the upgrade to 13, however, when 11 was installed, it's all on the C: drive. I pass the process of conversion of the catalogue of 11 to 13.

    The files usually have names like 'B0000000.pref', 'B0000002', 'B0000005.dat', B0000006.xml, 'B0003495.xml', 'B0003496.bmp', ' "B0006834."» "JPG", "B0006816.psd" and a huge 2 GB of files "Photoshop Temp2287141416368".

What you show, it is the content of a backup folder. It's a pretty common problem to find all the files in a folder root of a drive when the destination of the backup folder was not specified, the drive letter.

A backup folder contains files renamed image as "". B000000 ". "JPG", where the suffix is maintained. All the other files and subfolders are renamed in the original catalog file. More important still, the backup folder contains the two most important files, "catalog.buc"(a copy renamed your database "catalog.pse11db" and a "backup.tly" file that contains all the information to rename the files and store them in their structure of tree of file origin of the command of the "restoration" of the Organizer. Catalog backup file is usually created on an external EHD. The restoration process normally allows you to set the location of the main folder on the backup drive. Users don't often specify a folder to create for this purpose; I always recommend to create the backup folder before the restore process.

Your case is a little more complicated due to several factors:

-you have converted from version 11 to 13

    -you have installed an SSD

-you have installed software elements on D: which is something not 1% of typical users will do.

This and your answer shows that you and only you can find what you've done to get the contents of a backup in the root folder. The answer requires you to remember all of the previous steps, you have done to convert the backup and migrate to the D: drive.

What is not clear to me of your two different messages, is if the problem is to find files cumbersome and unnecessary in the root or folder if you have also problems with your catalogs and library of image files. If you have no problem to remove unwanted files from the root folder, you simply use Explorer to delete all files starting with "B00" over the catalog.buc and backup.tly file. Instead of delete, you can even move them to a newly created folder: this will create a valid backup folder.

Thanks in advance for your comments, they can be very useful for other users.

  • Move the file in the folder of the same name in AppleScript

I had a problem with the script below. Basically, on the execution of the script, I want to create folders based on the name of the file and move the files in the files of autocorrelation. However, at the minute, that I'll have to choose the folder in which the script should run.

    Folder to choose a folder

    say application 'Finder '.

located fileList to the name of every file in Folder with name extension is "m4v".

    end say

the value point text delimiters to ".".

Repeat with dittos in list of files

get each text element of dittos

masterFile defined in the point 1 of the result

    say application 'Finder '.

    create a new folder to Folder with properties {name: masterFile}

move (each file from the folder Folder whose name contains masterFile) will cause

    end say

    end Repeat

Ideally, I would like it to run automatically, but the folder is on an external hard drive. (\Volumes\Lacie\Movies). and I had problems to use the POSIX and 'alias' to properly re-create the path of the file desired.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello

You can try something like the AppleScript script which is a simple shell script wrapper.

set d to (choose folder)'s POSIX path
    do shell script "/bin/bash -s <<'EOF' - " & d's quoted form & " 2>&1
    cd \"$1\" || exit
    shopt -s nullglob
    for f in *.m4v
    do
        m=${f%.*}
        [[ -d $m ]] || mkdir -p \"$m\" || continue
        mq=$(sed 's/[^[:alnum:]]/\\\\&/g' <<< \"$m\")   # quote meta characters for regex
        find -E . -depth 1 -type f -iregex '.*/'\"$mq\"'.[[:alnum:]]+$' -print0 | xargs -0 -J% mv % \"$m\"
    done
    EOF"

For example, given that you choose/path/to/directory in the folder - source

    Input state:

    /path/to/directory/abc.m4v
    /path/to/directory/abc.txt
    /path/to/directory/abcd.m4v
    /path/to/directory/abcd.txt

    Status of the output:

    /path/to/directory/abc/abc.m4v
    /path/to/directory/abc/abc.txt
    /path/to/directory/abcd/abcd.m4v
    /path/to/directory/abcd/abcd.txt

Briefly tested under OS X 10.6.8 but no guarantee of any kind. Please make sure that you have a full backup of the original files and directories before you run this kind of script.

    Good luck

  • How to see files on a connected USB drive

    I bought a

GooDGo (TM) 30 pins for cable Charge USB Host OTG synchronization for iPad adapter 1/2/3 white

which is a connector to a female USB 30 pin, supposedly it allows you to connect the USB storage device to the iPad. That do I do on iOS to see everything that is on the USB card I attach, and what formatting should have the USB adapter to work? I would copy the video content from my Mac to a USB drive and see the videos on my iPad.

You need to trick your iPad by seeing these files as if they were on a camera

Give your video files to a name of 8 characters. This mimicks a camera; s naming protocol. MOV_1244.MP4 example

Place these files in a folder named DCIM

Plug your USB into the USB connector (which may or may not work as number of USB drives also requires a lot of power of the iPad so trigger a warning ' device requires too much power "and the USB will not connect)

Open the photos app (it may or may not open automatically)

The last time I tried this I could not see the names of files, just the files were there. I had to import them into my iPad via the import of the photo app tab.

Then try to look through the photos app, which should trigger the video application to open and you can see your video.

This work is also based on the videos being coded in a way that the iPad is going to play, you have enough space to import their and it still works as it did the last time I tried it a few years ago.

    Ben Arts wrote:

There are about 3000 files and the file is a server.

Well, who would certainly do, as much as you said that it is on a server, so a network drive.

In this case, I was looking for a progress for the folder in the list to use it in an indicator of progress for the user.

Unfortunately, there is no mechanism for it. Maybe you can organize the files so that you can get a list of them in 'chunks', based on a search pattern. Or perhaps you can organize them into folders so that you dynamically fill subfolders when a user wants to see what is inside.

Cancellation: having 3000 + files in a folder is a bad way to orgranize files, especially on a server, as leading to a huge amount of e/s files and network I/O on the server load.

  • I can not move the files to a folder in windows XP, only to copy them, and I get the windows error. This happens on any file or folder.

I use XP Pro SP 3 and I'm having a problem with moving the files from one folder to another, no matter where the folder or files. If I try to move a file, it crashes and it cannot be opened or used. If I move a folder, then crashes all the contents of the folder, and I can't even open the folder, it tells me access is denied, this nothing else. If I try to delete the file, then I get a prompt to error telling me that the file or folder is not accessible, and that access is denied and "make sure that the disk is not full or write protected." If I try to move the files corrupt in another folder, this time I get the message "Unable to move or replace" the file in question and "make sure that the disk is not full or write protected." If it is a document as a text file, then I can open the file and there is a prompt indicating that access is denied. I can then use the text document and save something, but if I close the document and then try to reopen it, all the changes are lost.
It is not this problem if I move the files to an external device or disk drive.
I am running as an administrator.
Right now, if I need to move a file, I copy it to its destination, which is possible and then delete the original file. With the help of a release program was the only way I could delete these files, which could no longer be used.

    Hello Closrapexa, welcome.

    1. do you have this problem started recently?

I recommend trying the system restore to bring the system back to a State before the problem started. Try this:
    1. click on START
    2. click on "all programs".
    3. click on "Accessories".
    4. click on "system tools."
    5. click on "system restore."
6 follow the prompts shown to restore your system to a date before the problem started. Although the system restore does not target the personal data, it is recommended that you back up all data such as music, photos and documents in case something is not bad.

    Hello

    • What version of Winodws XP do you use?

    Unfortunately, it is not possible.

You can use the backup utility to back up files and folders on a computer that is running Windows XP.

If you use Windows XP Home Edition, you can refer to the following steps:

Before you can back up important information on your computer, you must install the backup utility. The backup utility is included on the Windows XP Home Edition CD.

Note If you do not have the original CD of Windows XP Home Edition of Windows XP was preinstalled on your computer, contact the computer manufacturer or visit the Web site of the manufacturer for more information. You can also use the backup software that you purchase separately.

To install backup from the Windows XP CD:

    1. Insert your Windows XP CD into the CD or DVD from the computer player.
    2. Click exit.
    3. Locate the: \ValueAdd\Msft\Ntbackup folder on the CD.
    4. Double-click ntbackup.msi to install the backup utility.
    5. When the backup or Restore Wizard prompts you, click Finish.
    6. Remove the Windows XP CD.

Now that you have installed the backup utility, you are ready to back up your important information.

If you use Windows XP Professional, to back up your files and folders, follow these steps:

Note To back up files and folders, you must be connected to the computer as an administrator or as a user who belongs to the Administrators group. To verify that you are connected to Windows with a user account is an administrator on the computer, see the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

Step 1: Open the backup utility

    1. Click Startand then click run.
    2. Type ntbackup.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.

Note If you receive the following error message, make sure that you followed the steps in the "how to install the backup utility" section correctly:

Step 2: Select the items to back up and select the location for the backup file
    1. Click Advanced Mode.

Note If the backup and Restore Wizard, the utility runs in Wizard mode. You can click to clear the always start in Wizard mode check box, and then restart the backup utility. • If it is available to the backup destination list, click the backup destination that you want to use.

Note If you selected file at this point, type the path and the full name for which you want to back up data in the backup media or file name box.

You can specify a network share as a destination for the backup file. Generally, backup files have the .bkf file name extension. However, you can use any extension of file name you want.

  • Step 3: Start the backup

    1. To open the backup information dialog box, click Start Backup .
    2. Under If the media already contains backups, perform one of the following:
      • If you want to add this backup file to previous backup files, click append this backup to the media. This option adds the new backup in the existing backup file so that you can keep all the previous backups in a single file. This option is useful if you ever want to restore a backup from a specific day. Be aware that the size of the backup file will increase with each new backup. You can monitor the file size to make sure that it does not fill your hard drive over time. If the file becomes too large, you should consider saving the file on an external hard drive. Or, if you are concerned about the file using too much hard disk space, select replace the data on the media with this backup instead.
      • If you want to replace the files of previous backup with this backup file, click replace the data on the media with this backup. This option is useful if you want to keep the current backup and do not care to keep the previous backups. Or, use this option if you are concerned about the file using too much disk space on your computer.
    3. Click Advanced.
    4. Select the check box Verify data after the backup .
    5. In the Backup Type box, click the type of backup that you want to create. For a description of each type of backup, click the backup type and the description appears under "Description." You can select all of the following types of backup:
      • Normal
      • Copy
      • Incremental
      • Premium
      • Every day
    6. Click OK, and then click Start Backup. A backup progress dialog box appears, and the backup starts.

Step 4: Leave the backup utility

    1. When the backup is complete, click close.
    2. In the menu of task , click exit.

Is there a way to recover the EFS encrypted files stored on an external drive without the original of the certificate?

I had photos/files stored on an external drive and have been encrypted with EFS in XP. The main drive crashed, all keys have been lost. Got a new main drive, installed the new OS and now can't access encrypted files.

Unless you can retrieve parts of your old drive or have a backup of your encryption certificate, you have probably lost all of your encrypted data.  Recovery agents work only if they are in place when the file/folder is initially encrypted.  A program like AEFSDR might be able to resurrect your old certificate from your old drive if it is readable at all.  If you plan to use EFS in the future, make sure you read the following article the court - particularly paragraph entitled "why you should back up your certificates.
