Failed to install Win-8 Release Preview in a VMware VM - advice or alternatives?

I tried to install the Preview Release in a VMware VM, but failed.

Since no EasyInstall for Windows 8 model does exist - I first tried to use "Microsoft Windows 7 (x 64)" but which ended in a loop without end in which the installation of Windows 8 told me, that "Windows cannot read the < ProductKey > parameter of the unattended answer file." By pressing OK restarts the virtual machine to finally return with the same error msg, so I had to abandon that...

Then I tried with "others (64-bit). This initially seemed to work, that he gets by the first round, where he gets the files and features and updates ready to be mounted. Then it restarts and begins to display "loan of fuses in" and count to 71% of ' ' before the end in a 'blue screen' (not the usual BSoD, but a screen with a sad smiley on blue background) and the message "your PC came across a problem and must restart. We are only collecting the error information, and then we'll restart for you. ..." . After a while it restarts but this then also manages circles. :-(

I first suspected a mismatch the driver disc and tried on a few times using disks IDE or SCSI (virtual), but - alas - that made no difference.

All tips, how to install this preview on VMware WorkStation?  I'm using VMware WorkStation 8.0.3 build-703057 (according to the update check which is the most recent and the largest...)

Michael

BTW - a few months ago the Windows 8 Preview of consumer authorization was installed without any glitch or problem.

I had the same problem. I ended up creating the virtual machine with the option to NOT install the operating system. Strikes always specify Windows 7 64 bit as OS, but VMWare will create an empty virtual disk. Then, after the virtual machine is created, but before it turn, go into the settings of hardware and point the CD player to use the ISO of Windows 8 RC file. When you turn on the computer, virtual it will boot from the CD and install Windows 8.

Hope that helps.

After almost a collective 50 hours trying to diagnose and fix the problem myself, I gave up and hope that an Assistant here can help me to solve it.

I am on Win 7 Starter on an Asus Eee PC and Secunia has begun to remind me that I need to DL SP1. Of course, it's in my list of tasks Windows Update. I had a series of other necessary updates, then tried to DL them all at once. DL is omitted a certain percentage or perpetually hung at 0%. I then cleaned the Software Distribution folder and tried DLing updates again, one at a time. Each worked well, until I came to the SP1 download. He either quickly failed and showed the 80070005 error or got to about 90% and then failed showing the 8024200d error.

Under the view of the internet, I ran the function of sfc/scannow in cmd (no problem), then the command chkdsk /r /f. He said he would perform the task when you restart, but when I did, I get a black screen and have to wait 30 min - 2 hours before the login screen appears again (and I find that the chkdsk feature had not been executed). I also tried to repair C: after he said contained errors with IObit Disk Doctor but who has suffered the same problem.

I also downloaded the preparation of updated and MS FixIt tool. Once URT has been downloaded, nothing happened (this is normal) and the latter, while the identification he had a problem with WinUpdate, couldn't solve it.

The only other relevant points I can make is that I don't seem to have downloaded the update of blackhole, I use the antivirus diligently but have tried to update with this option off (MSE) and often use as Advanced System Care optimization software and Revo Uninstaller (is it a registry problem?)

    Please, please can someone help.

Yes, you need to reinstall the SATA drivers or you will go to BIOS and set the SATA from AHCI mode to compatible.

I tried each individually - how know one gives what error.

Run Update Readiness Tool and it says everything is OK. You run MS Baseline Security analyze and downloaded packages individual but can not understand the correct syntax to invoke manually by hand using pkgmgr. I'm stuck with a new installation of Vista precarious missing 4 critical fixes :(

I could go back and start from scratch, but I think I'll finish exactly in the same place again. Have also tried AV scans of bootable CD made on another system of trust and found no evidence of malicious software with three different products.

Is it possible to get the best diagnosis of update of windows beyond "failed with unknown cryptic error."

Any ideas what these patches have in common, which causes them to fail on my kit?

    Thank you

    Martin Brown

Thank you very much! These well made the case.

I had not had as much as to put on an AV so that it was not to blame. I have no idea why Windows Update had taken against these specific fixes - they work OK on the hard drive.

They all performed successfully, according to the newspaper.  But I came to be stuck with a 'respect' in the automatic mode of updates for the last KB2536275 tag applied. He thinks that the patch should always be applied (and running it still does not work).

Correction - it takes the system a heck of a lot of time to notice that the patch is applied and removed from the list (at least 2 reboots and the time it took me to write this letter) to do. Now, everything is good on the SSD and a nice green checkmark shows that there are no outstanding update!

Thanks again it was exactly what I need.

BTW How did you find these .msu files? When I went before all I could find were cryptic and opaque. CAB files with names absolutely inpenetrable, my question at the beginning was to know how to apply them as pkgmgr syntax is not really obvious from the help page.

They are much more user friendly they are autonomous and run after the download.

Yes, it will expire. Current previews of 10 Windows such as Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9841, 9860, 9879 all will expire April 15, 2015.

It worries me because win 7 users can now try to win 10 through Win 7 upgrade without messing with ISO images, what happens when a few dozen win final release comes out, they will have to re - install win 7 to avoid interruptions at determined intervals if they choose to not upgrade?

Microsoft has officially made a tweet made their intention is intended for users who upgrade to the current releases of preview of Windows 10 they want users to be able to upgrade these glimpses into the final version.

Please note that this is their intention, anything can happen in the final version, so it is always recommended that you do not replace your production facility in Windows 7, 8/8.1, Vista with Windows 10. Please note that Windows 10 is also the recovery partitions unusable if you upgrade, requiring that you use a support of recovery actually reinstall your original Windows copy if you need to return.

In addition, Microsoft didn't intend to do 10 Windows one product appeal, then you can buy the final version some way somehow.

  • How to restore partition factory settings after installing Win 7 Professional and after having lost everything as a result.

I have a netbook with a partition that has win7 starter installed.  I unfortunately poorly installed windows 7 Professional and now have nothing available which was originally on the computer.  Everything was wiped clean including my ability to use / access my wireless, ethernet controller, pci, etc..  I tried repeatedly to recover the partition back to factory settings, but it won't give me the option to select the partition.  I guess that's because they are all two Windows 7.  Can you help me get it back to windows 7 edition starter of the partition so I can restore all the factory settings and programs.  I haven't lost any information or files that I loaded win7professtional as soon as I turned it on.  I have restore points, images, etc.

When I installed Win 7 Professional, not old Info windows.old file but I don't know how to access that is.

    Help, please?  Thank you

The Windows.old folder has two objectives:
    (1) can be used to uninstall Windows 7 and return your PC to the previous version of Windows.
    (2) contains a backup of all your files of data, documents, photos, Etc. from the previous version of Windows.

If you don't need either of these two options can delete the Windows.old folder. In your case if you can access the "recovery Partition" to restore the windows and then back the Windows.old folder before you begin.

Note: Option to change Windows Explorer to see the Windows.old folder:
Click on start and enter in the box "Search": "hidden" (without the quotes)
Click on the "Show the hidden files and folders" option at the top of the list.
    In the "Folder Options" window
Click the 'view' if it is not already selected.
In the list "Advanced settings" locate "hidden files and folders".
Now click 'show files and folders '.
    Then, disable the following:
"Hide empty drives in the computer folder.
"Hide the extensions of the file types that you want to know."
    "Hide protected operating system files"

Click on the "Apply" button and the OK"" button.

    Hello

Of course you can install Windows 7 on this laptop why not?

Even if Win 7 32-bit drivers are not released on the European driver Toshiba page, you could install this OS.

Most devices use the same drivers. For example, you can check out 32-bit drivers for X 300 series.

    Hi all
I just bought this laptop. It came with vista. I want to install xp pro on it, I mean keep vista as well. So I made the partition and assigned 72 GB for xp pro. Now the problem is that xp pro install cd does not recognize the hard drive. It says no hard drive present.

It is a SATA drive. So I did some searching on Google on it and found that xp pro doesn't have SATA drivers and this is why you may not see the hard drive. I need to install the SATA drivers with xp pro by pressing F6... and blah blah. Given that this laptop didn't come with the disk, then I found on some forums to include drivers with xp pro cd and make an iso image and try to run it.

I tried several times but each time it gives me error this cable is broken. Is someone can pls let me know what is the problem? And also if anyone can guide me to get the right drivers for my SATA drive and intel 965 PM chipset... If I go the Intel Web site.

    Hello!

I just bought a Satellite A350 and the Adobe Master Collection does not correctly install on Windows Vista, I would like to install Windows XP on the laptop.
Allas, the drivers on this site for the A350 are only for Vista? Can not I install XP on it at all, and if I can, where can I find the necessary drivers?

    Thanks for the help!

    Gascoigne

Of course, you can install Win XP on this laptop.
But for Win XP is not available for this series of laptop and in this case, you will need to search the drivers of your own hands.

Many laptop series uses the same devices and so the drivers should work also.
I would recommend some other series laptop like Satellite A300 or another and try the XP drivers released for these models.

    Welcome them

The problem: windows fails when starting a new drive.
