  Follow these methods.

  Method 1.

  Connect the device, run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and check if that helps.

  So I got my iPod Shuffle since mid August 2015 and, for some reason, the battery life actually only spent about 1 hour. He went away for a while, when I used it less but recently after I have charged it and began to do something random (probably stimulation of things) it lasts barely an hour.   There is no 'upgrade' program an iPod shuffle (except to buy a new one for $49).  However, you now have a 4th gen iPod shuffle.  The current version is still 4th gen, except that Apple has added a few new choices of colors in 2015.

  Cheap and good jovi...  That IS indeed a serious problem.    But at least the iPod still plays music, so its battery is OK.

  You use the USB cable supplied with 2nd gen iPod?  It is long with a cradle at the end of the shuffle.  The replacement of home cable shuffle Apple sells currently is to shuffle 3rd and 4th generation and does not work with 2nd gen shuffle (connector is different).

  There are third party replacement cables, but they must be described as 2nd gen shuffle.  And they tend to be cheap and of poor quality, then this might be the problem here.

  If you have the right type of cable, when you connect it to the USB of your computer, look at the little light the shuffle.  Blink initially when it is connected?  It turn on, but remain solid (not flashing)?  There is No light at all when connected?

  Also, are you using a Mac or a Windows PC?  If Windows, which free?

  Looks like you are having problems with your iPod shuffle syncing newly received with your iTunes library. Please make sure that you are running the latest version of iTunes by checking the updates in your App store. If you don't have any music in your iTunes library, try to add the music to the library first, and then try to sync with the iPod shuffle.
