Failover process dell equal logic ps6210 boxes

Hi all

I have a question about these boxes of PS6210 Dell equal logic. I have set up three boxes that are joined in a group and running in auto mode, ripping one of them is SSD and two others are of the SAS and NLSAS. After that, I started creating volumes on these boxes by accessing my SAN storage using this IP group address. And for now everything works fine.

Someday I have to stop my infrastructure for the interview, and then I noticed that if all of the box goes out, first of all, all volumes created on this box disconnects. Seeing this kind of behavior, a question comes to mind , what happens if one of our box fails due to any reason, it can be about power or any other reason? What will happen then?

I really need your help here.

Thank you

Gohar Sultan

If you lose a 'box' that holds a slice of a volume of the realized volume is taken offline until the missing member returns. Think of a RAID0 network.

His DNA Equallogic to distribute a volume more members within a pool.

If you don't like that

1 place only a single member in a pool

2. If your members have different RAID levels, you can set the RAID preference for a volume. If possible, with that volume will be stored on a member have the right type of RAID. But this isn't a 100% guarantee!

3. with a command line magic, you can change the distribution of volume and disable it. But you lose a lot of the EQL benefiz and how it works.

EQL, Dell offers an availability of 99.999% and in 7 years with 30 members to manage no I never lose one.

BTW: put a hybrid or all Member SSD with high capacity SATA/NLSAS set in the same pool it not the 'best' configuration.

Kind regards

Joerg

  • Update Firmware in Dell Equal Logic PS4100E

    Hello! I have a Bay Dell equal logic PS 4100E. I need to update its firmware. Currently Im running Firmware V5.1.1. I read this: "Update Firmware for Dell EqualLogic PS Series arrays and FS Series storage facilities" but I need confirmation before doing the actual upgrade.

    Since Im running V5.1.1 now, I need to:

    (1) download and install the firmware V5.2.11

    (2) download and install the firmware V6.0.8

    (3) download and install the firmware V7.0.2

    Am I wrong? Could someone confirm that its okay? Soon ;)

    To get to v7.x v5.1.1 you only need to do two updates, first upgrade to 6.0.x (the most recent, 6.0.8).  The document upgrade firmware for v6.0.8 clearly shows that you can go to 6.0.x 5.1.x and no need to do the 5.2.11 upgrade).

    Once on the last version 6.0.8 (and the table has been restarted - very important to do this step!), you can go to the latest version of 7.x.

    (Note that the release notes for 7.x is a bit of confusion on this and need to be revised to show the path of 5.1 to 7 a little better)

    I have configured the RAID 10 storage because it will be a critical environment in the future. I have everything works very well for vSphere and end Site Recovery Manager, for the underside of the storage configurations.

    Total space available after RAID 10 is 2.61 TB and I set about 1 volume to with 1.5 to for replica on both sites, 500 GB for the infrastructure servers which I am not reproduce (all expect thin provisioned protected virtual machine)

    The problem with my setup is whenever I have perform a recovery of Fail-Over and then Reprotect for restoration, I need to increase the reserve of replica to the minimum that is mentioned in accordance with the image attached. Given that during the test phase I just 5 VM 40 GB each and available space is 1 TB, I wanted to know why he wants me to increase every time the reserve line although I mentioned like 200% and if I'm not wrong whenever he tries to take a full scanning replica I don't want to happen and it should take just the changes of the base replica.

    It would be great, if someone corrects me if I understand replication in a bad way

    Hello Chandan,

    I'm just trying to get a few pieces more information to get a clear picture.

    When you set up replication first what you set up for the amount of reserve of replica at the site in "prod" (protected from SRM)?  I wonder if this is set to 0, trying to replicate back maybe it's why it asks you to set aside space for the moment 'DR to prod' replication.

    To take advantage of any default return changes make sure that 'keep instant failover' is checked in the configuration of the replica.

    Create the javascript function, for example

      function sumbit_page(){
         if(confirm('Do you want to send e-mail after...')){
           doSubmit('SEND_MAIL');
         }else{
           doSumbit('JUST_SUMBIT');
         }
      }

    and call on click of a button.

    Then change your processes to be conditional:
    (1) insert/update data if: ASK ("SEND_MAIL', 'JUST_SUBMIT')
    (2) e-mail: REQUEST = 'SEND_MAIL '.

  • FAILURE - Security Options. Login process failed create the security options dialog.

    I'm running Windows Vista Business Edition 32 bit on a Dell XPS M1330 desktop; 4 GB OF RAM. 120GB HD. I use McAfee Security Center.

    Sometimes, the system hangs with the following symptoms :

    • I'm starting to receive messages "not responding" in an application or a program that I opened, for example when using Firefox or windows explore.
    • The system starts to slow down and works with breaks and stills.
    • Gradually, the system does not meet the clicks or keyboard, but I can move the pointer. I am also unable to bring up the Task Manager (no response to C-A-D)
    • Eventually the screen goes black with the exception of pointer, which moves with the mouse
    • After a few minutes, you receive the following message:

    Title bar: login process failed create the dialog box options security.
    Message text (with X-red): failure - Security Options

    • The only button available is the OK button. When I click on the button, Windows is displayed again, but it is completely insensitive (move the pointer). Wait long enough and repeat the sequence preceding.
    • The only thing I can do is stop hard by dint of power off. When I have the power back and reboot, everything seems back to normal, until the next time.

    I have tried the following options:

    • restarted the system and you press F8. So I tried to run the system restore. But in doing so, I got a different error message:

    Title bar: the disk OS (C :) has errors. )
    Text of the message: Windows has detected corruption on OS (C :) file system. You should check the drive for errors.
    Action line: check the disk for errors

    • I clicked on the above action line and the disk check has started, but after about 20 minutes, it got stuck at one point and didn't move forward despite me waiting for 3 hours.
    • Tired of waiting I finally canceled everything.
    • So I decided to restore my laptop to factory settings. After restoring the system to the factory settings that I was hoping it would work very well, but he worked the same and error message "failure-security option" is new.
    • Now the system not yet properly starts in safe mode.

    I would be grateful if someone from microsoft can help me with this problem that I need my laptop for urgent and important work.

    1. start windows in safe mode, press start and type "msconfig" in the search/run box. go to the services tab, find the 'superfetch' service and uncheck the box next to it. Click OK and restart normally (if you have exactly the same problem, I had - that should fix it).

  • Problem with VPN L2L and RA in a failover configuration

    I use two ASA 5540 in failover active-standby configuration. These boxes (primary and secondary) are used to establish some L2L and VPN RA (remote access). The active area run the OSPF process.

    The problem is when the failover (blocking just to the bottom of the active area, or "active failover" running in a secondary zone) all L2L be restored in a secondary zone. The only way I can do this (re-connect) removes the configuration of IPP (Reverse injectable way) (for example. ("no card crypto rprbbe_map 3 don't set reverse-road") and the configuration of IPP ("card crypto rprbbe_map 3 Road opposite the value"). After this the connection is re-established.

    In RA guests the session persists on a failover event, but the customer loses access. To resolve this problem, the customer needs to disconnect and reconnect.

    Anyone has any experience with this kind of (L2L and RA) VPN configuration using failover?

    Behavior seems buggy.

  • How to create the failure of another process of running processes.

    Hello

    I want to create an instance of another process of my running processes. At the same time, I want to move a business object as a parameter to this instance. Please help me to do this!

    This and other ways to create an instance in a another process has been described in Re: creating the new process instance

    1 this is how you create an instance in a process using the logic in the activity of the automatic method. This example uses the "Fuego.Lib.ProcessInstance.create ()" method below within a process:

    // "argsIn" is an associative string array (Any[String])
    argsIn as Any[String]
    // this assumes that the Begin activity has two argument variables
    // named "nameArg" (a string) and "myBpmObjectArg" (a BPM
    // object variable) and you're setting them
    // to the previously initialized variables "name" and
    //   "myBpmObject" respectively
    argsIn["nameArg"] = name
    argsIn["myBpmObjectArg"] = myBpmObject

    // logic here to determine the name of the process to create an instance in
    idOfProcess as String
    idOfProcess =
    ProcessInstance.create(processId : "/" + idOfProcess, arguments : argsIn,
         argumentsSetName : "BeginIn")

    ProcessInstance is in the catalog inside Fuego.Lib.

    The processId parameter (the variable "idOfProcess" in the logic above) is the thing that I most often live with that. This is the text that you see when you process in the project right-click browser tab-> "Properties". Look at the value in the field 'Id' and not the field 'Name' (the name without a space). Prefix with "/" as presented here and if you have deployed this using a unit of Organization (UO) then prefix this chain also.

    The third parameter is almost always "BeginIn". Start of activities in a process can have several incoming argument mappings, the default value is "BeginIn". See your, double-click the process Begin activity and seek on behalf of mapping in the upper left corner of the dialog box.

    "argsIn" is the set of variables of incoming arguments you want to spent in the process. A common error is to type the names of the variables argument entering without the double quotes, as follows:

    . . .
    // this will *NOT* work
    argsIn[nameArg] = name
    argsIn[myBpmObjectArg] = myBpmObject
    . . .

    Here is the correct syntax:

    . . .
    // this *WILL* work
    argsIn["nameArg"] = name
    argsIn["myBpmObjectArg"] = myBpmObject
    . . .

    In this example, the process has two argument variables. It doesn't matter if the incoming arguments are arguments of primitive type (e.g. String, Integer, Decimal...) or objects of BPM, it is always in the same way. In this example, there is an incoming string argument, called "nameArg" and an argument entering BPM object called "myBpmObjectArg".

    2. a process can create a new instance in another process by using the activity subflow, which creates an instance in a child synchronously sub-process and expects the result to return once the instance in the child sub-process reached the end of the process activity. The parent process, you would correspond to the variables of the arguments incoming and outgoing of the child called process with instance variables in your parent process.

    3. a process can create a new instance in another process using the process creation activity that creates an instance of an asynchronous child subprocess (fire and forget), but does not expect the child to respond to the parent company. Once the child is initiated, the mother continues its flow. The parent process, you would correspond to the variables of the incoming arguments of the called child process with instance variables in your parent process.

  • create the new process instance

    Hello

    How can we create a new instance of processes other than in global activity. Is there a way on this?

    Hi Anuraq,

    Know I'm leaving on a couple, but there are several ways you can create a new instance of the work item in a process:

    (1) this is how you create an instance in a process using the logic in the activity of the automatic method. This example uses the "Fuego.Lib.ProcessInstance.create ()" method below within a process:

    // "args" is an associative string array (Any[String])
    argsIn as Any[String]
    // this assumes that the Begin activity has two argument variables
    // named "nameArg" and "amountArg" and you're setting them
    // to the variables "name" and "amount" respectively
    argsIn["someArgVarName"] = "Hello"
    argsIn["someBpmObject"] = myBpmObject

    // logic here to determine the name of the process to create an instance in
    idOfProcess as String
    idOfProcess =
    ProcessInstance.create(processId : "/" + idOfProcess, arguments : argsIn, argumentsSetName : "BeginIn")

A common error is to type the names of the variables argument entering without the double quotes, as follows:

    . . .
    // this will *NOT* work
    argsIn[someArgVarName] = "Hello"
    argsIn[someBpmObject] = myBpmObject
    . . .

    Here is the correct syntax:

    . . .
    // this *WILL* work
    argsIn["someArgVarName"] = "Hello"
    argsIn["someBpmObject"] = myBpmObject
    . . .

    In this example, the process has two argument variables. It doesn't matter if the incoming arguments are arguments of primitive type (e.g. String, Integer, Decimal...) or objects of BPM, it is always in the same way. In this example, there is an incoming string argument, called "someArgVarName" and an argument entering BPM object called "someBpmObject".

    (2) the overall activity of creation - creates automatically an instance based on human interaction - requires no other logic to set the argument variables you want to spent in the process mapped to instance variables. If it is decided in the screenflow associated with this activity that you do not want to create an instance after all, he just needs to hit an automated task to screenflow creations worldwide that has logic 'action = CANCEL'

    (3) Interactive global activity - also based on human interaction, it can create an instance when you get inside screenflow Interactive global activity to an automated task that has the logic of Instance.create () above.

    (4) using the Fuego.Papi.Instance.create method using the logic inside a process.

    (5) using the Java PAPI:

    fuego.papi.Arguments arguments = Arguments.create();
    arguments.putArgument("inArgument", "MyArgument");
    String consolidatedProcessId = "/SomeProcessNameId";
    String argumentSetName = "BeginIn";
    fuego.papi.InstanceInfo instance = session.createProcessInstance(consolidatedProcessId,argumentSetName,arguments);

    (6) with the API of PAPI-WS (Web Service), you can create an instance in a process using a web service call.

    (7) a process can create a new instance in another process by using the activity subflow, which creates an instance in a child synchronously sub-process and expects the result to return once the instance in the child sub-process reached the end of the process activity. The parent process, you would correspond to the variables of the arguments incoming and outgoing of the child called process with instance variables in your parent process.

    (8) a process can create a new instance in another process using the process creation activity that creates an instance of an asynchronous child subprocess (fire and forget), but does not expect the child to respond to the parent company. Once the child is initiated, the mother continues its flow. The parent process, you would correspond to the variables of the incoming arguments of the called child process with instance variables in your parent process.
