Reference Dell GX620 Purple screen with ESX 4.1

Hello

I had a Dell GX620 of Otiplex box with 4 GB of Ram and 2 hard drive ESX 4.1 and all of a sudden I start to experience crashes (purple form), sometimes 3 seconds after the start of the process and others, when the system already in place, but I connect to one of the virtual machines.

He is always coming up with some 'console/6096 PCPU0"among other error lines.

Everyone got an old similar system and is having a similar problem? Maybe someone knows how to fix this?

Thank you very much

Download the memtest disc and test the RAM. http://memtest.org/#downiso Let run overnight or longer.

I have an environment DELL M1000e blade with M610 and M710 servers.  Running all ESX 4.

    Fabric A2: no

Fabric B1: Ethernet Passthrough (iSCSI to DELL Equallogic PS5000e SAN)

Fabric B2: Ethernet Passthrough (iSCSI to DELL Equallogic PS5000e SAN)

All blade on ESX servers see the A1 and A2 as vmnic0 & vmnic1.  If I understand correctly, the M6220.  The problem is that none of the blades see Passthroughs Ethernet which are connected to a Cisco 2970 switch.  Shouldn't B1 & B2 appear on vmnic2 & vmnic3?  It does not show on the side of ESX.

Any agency with experience with this would be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Reference Dell MD3200i correct editing with IP system and the NIC for faster network speeds

    Hi all

I worked on this project for a while now. I did a lot of research and have contacted Dell several times. I need help.

I have 2 sets of identical to use for Hyper-V clusters servers. We bought a Dell MD3200i in November, we also bought a Dell 5424 switch and a Cisco SLM2048 switch. These servers have Real Tek 2 network cards for iSCSI Jumbo frames is 9 k

The Dell MD3200i is two SAN controllers. Dell 5424 is the iSCSI optimized switch and Cisco is a 48 switch ports. iSCSI is on its own network that nothing else is connected to it. (There is an Iomega NAS and a promise Vtrak SAN Tech with all current domain of execution with iSCSI controller)

Cisco switch has 1 VLAN n ° 1 on it and the 130 subnet inside elements. There are 8 connections to the switch. 4 controller 0 and 1 of each of the servers. It has an IP of 192.168.132.4, but that switch IP does not make difference. Lighted Jumbo frames

Dell switch has 2 of #1 for various things such as the domain controller, Vtrack, and SIN. Subnet 2 is 131 and has a total of 8 connectors inside. 4 in 1 controller and 1 from each of the servers. Lighted Jumbo frames. The switch IP address is 192.168.132.2

iSCSI tab click on add 8 MPIO sessions at each of the ports on the MD3200i from Dell, target. For example, I added 1 session of 192.168.130.101 using it. Add Session,--> activate--> Advanced Mutlipath--> Local--> IP 192.168.130.110 initiator and target 192.168.131.101 iSCSI adapter. This is repeated on all servers. 4 connections for each NIC.

The network is very slow. It revolved around 2 to 4 MB/MIN and it should be much faster. Initially, we had only the Cisco switch with only 1 VLAN and everything connected directly to it. I read somewhere that MPIO has been the problem, so I went through the same configuration but does not verify the MPIO checkbox above. Once this has been done, the network speed went up to 1.5 GB/Min but modular storage Dell was not happy, and virtual servers would fail and the connection is not very stable.

What wrong with my setup? Can I directly home and fix the servers directly to the PowerVault and will make stable and allow for failover and redundancy NIC? I need to get this stable so I can move with something else.

    Thank you Ron

  • ESXI 5.1.0 purple screen with openwrt

    Hello

Very annoying problem. I run an instance openwrt and after a few reboots of the ESXI 5.1.0 shows purple core dump on the console screen.

I have a G7 HP Proliant DL 360 with the latest firmware update from HP. Also installed the latest drivers from HP. It must be fully supported

but no cigar.  I have not encountered this problem with ESXI 5.0.0. Anyway around this problem? What type of logging you need me to look at

    in this?

    Best regards K Bryan

Well... Normally, this isn't for your build... But the purple screen you have looks remarkably similar to this:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2038767&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=547930176&StateID=1%200%20547936335

Your ESXi comes it up/stay up at all or is this completely down? ... If you have access, you could test with this setting... But as I said, normally if your version is higher than that it should be resolved.

  • Reference Dell GX620 Power Supply Question

What's up guys, I'm new here, and earlier this month my school made me a job on time partial like the public library IT Assistant, because I took IT out classes at my high school. I'm 18, and I know a little about computers. My question is, one of our computers at the library, a GX620, the power supply of the machine went wrong and that we have at the back of the library are detached power supplies for GX520, I asked my professor of computer SCIENCE at the school if it would be prudent to go and try to install the GX520 power in the GX620, but I'm still not sure if it will be a sure idea It would cause a fire? He would burn something inside the PC? My COMPUTER teacher told me to check the amps and volts on feeding 620, and I checked, the GX620 power supply has a maximum of 275 WATTS, while feeding GX520 has a maximum of 220 WATTS, is completely switch the GX620 bad diet, with the GX520 spare?

And you know that the PSU is bad, how... ?

First, you will need to know if the spare GX520 PSU's for the same (Tower, Desktop, small, ultra compact) form factor as the GX620 before you can even think to use it because if the form factor of the PC is different, it cannot even between.

There is a block of POWER W 220 here that says: it adapts GX520 both GX620 Desktop. But if you do not have a GX620 Desktop, this power supply may be a bit low power if the original was 275W.

That said, you can get a power supply for the GX620 here for less than $30, depending on the form factor. If your existing GX620 power SUPPLY PSU 275W, it seems you might have a small GX620 form, based on the specs of the PSU indicated on this page.

  • Reference Dell technicians who work with Microsoft scammers?

This morning (Monday, 24 October 11) I got a call from a Technician based in India, same scenario, as Microsoft already described here. How did get my phone no and name? Well, Thursday I contacted Dell that I got a problem with my computer, open the windows, the Dell technician says that he'll call me later and asked for my phone doesn't. He called a day later and I said that friends had fixed the problem, which was Friday. Well the first thing Monday morning, I have a Microsoft technician saying that my microsoft certificate had expired and my computer will not work unless I have renewed the certificate and I pay £££. Isn't the air very coincidential? I will never buy Dell products still once, it seems that they pass the information to the crooks or they are scammers themselves!

If you believe that Dell Technication is also involved, you may call Dell and ask another medium or ask them abuse report and when you contact Dell, you have the file number and you can use it to complain. Also, it could be going since you had call before contacting Dell.

In this case you can take a look at:

  • Reference Dell EQL PS4100xv problem with MS SQL replication

    Hello

I have a Dell PowerEdge server R420 connected to an EQL. Is installed ESXi 5.1 U1 (free version). It is only a data store.

VM is running Windows 2008 R2 STD with MS SQL 2008 R2 STD. The change in size of database per day is around 2 to 3 MB of base on my daily full backups via the MS SQL backup.

However, when I throw a replication session between my EQL PROD and DR EQL which size of delta is ranging from 1 GB to 50 GB every time that I run a replication? Interval is about 5 to 10 minutes. I tried 20 minutes also the size to replicate is erratic.

Why is so huge its more than 1000 MB per replication.

Hope someone can help me with that.

    Thank you

    Paul

Re: Storage Direct.  Yes, if you configure these volumes SQL replication, only the changed data will be included.  Only VM will see to all the files in the data store.   However, you still want to replicate your VMFS, but not as often as SQL datastore.

Re: optimize.  Article I included has the registry setting you need.  This works for all storage formatted to NTFS.

In addition, when you format the SQL data / log volumes, has the NTFS 64 K cluster size.   The default value is usually 4 or 8 K.  This will align all the writings and readings on the 64K of distribution of the EQL table size.   This improves performance of I/o.
