Update Firmware in Dell Equal Logic PS4100E

Hello! I have a Bay Dell equal logic PS 4100E. I need to update its firmware. Currently Im running Firmware V5.1.1. I read this: "Update Firmware for Dell EqualLogic PS Series arrays and FS Series storage facilities" but I need confirmation before doing the actual upgrade.

Since Im running V5.1.1 now, I need to:

(1) download and install the firmware V5.2.11

(2) download and install the firmware V6.0.8

(3) download and install the firmware V7.0.2

Am I wrong? Could someone confirm that its okay? Soon ;)

To get to v7.x v5.1.1 you only need to do two updates, first upgrade to 6.0.x (the most recent, 6.0.8).  The document upgrade firmware for v6.0.8 clearly shows that you can go to 6.0.x 5.1.x and no need to do the 5.2.11 upgrade).

Once on the last version 6.0.8 (and the table has been restarted - very important to do this step!), you can go to the latest version of 7.x.

(Note that the release notes for 7.x is a bit of confusion on this and need to be revised to show the path of 5.1 to 7 a little better)

  • Failover process dell equal logic ps6210 boxes

    Hi all

I have a question about these boxes of PS6210 Dell equal logic. I have set up three boxes that are joined in a group and running in auto mode, ripping one of them is SSD and two others are of the SAS and NLSAS. After that, I started creating volumes on these boxes by accessing my SAN storage using this IP group address. And for now everything works fine.

Someday I have to stop my infrastructure for the interview, and then I noticed that if all of the box goes out, first of all, all volumes created on this box disconnects. Seeing this kind of behavior, a question comes to mind , what happens if one of our box fails due to any reason, it can be about power or any other reason? What will happen then?

I really need your help here.

    Thank you

    Gohar Sultan

If you lose a 'box' that holds a slice of a volume of the realized volume is taken offline until the missing member returns. Think of a RAID0 network.

His DNA Equallogic to distribute a volume more members within a pool.

    If you don't like that

1 place only a single member in a pool

    2. If your members have different RAID levels, you can set the RAID preference for a volume. If possible, with that volume will be stored on a member have the right type of RAID. But this isn't a 100% guarantee!

    3. with a command line magic, you can change the distribution of volume and disable it. But you lose a lot of the EQL benefiz and how it works.

EQL, Dell offers an availability of 99.999% and in 7 years with 30 members to manage no I never lose one.

BTW: put a hybrid or all Member SSD with high capacity SATA/NLSAS set in the same pool it not the 'best' configuration.

  • Update firmware on Dell Powerconnect 6248P battery

    Hello

I need to update the firmware on the switches on my stack, the stack consists of 3 all current 6248P to run version firmware 3.2.1.3 Powerconnect switches.

I plan to stack in a 4 switch that is running 3.3.1.10 so I need to update my existing carpet before doing this.

I would like to use auto update and upgrade the firmware on the circuit breaker that will modernize, then the rest of the stack, but the issue I'm having, it's that the documentation Dell tells me to enable synchronization of the firmware using the command "start auto-copie-sw" in the cli, however appears not to exist at all?

    Can someone advise?

    Thank you

    Steve

    The documents listed here.

    www.Dell.com/.../pwcnt_stacking_switches.pdf

Is a little outdated. Therefore, the listed order is more part of the 6200/CLI firmware. By default, the switch will try and push any updated firmware for the other switches in the stack, no need to run a command.

    See you soon.

I tried the update by the Windows package and who did not, and he complain about the OS being too recent. A server is Windows Server 2008 R2 and the other Windows Server R2 2012. • Unable to update firmware DRAC6 past 1.10.13 on R610

    Hello

I have a number of R610s I need to upgrade the DRAC firmware, so you can talk to our new management system. Most of them updated correctly when I left versions gradually 1.10.13 (their version) to 1.97.

About 7 of them, however, will not move past 1.10.13. I have the version of the 1.11 firmware available via TFTP; When I try to install this (via idracadm, starting from the local operating system or a separate box or through the administrative SSH console) I get first "Firmware update is not current" then 'Firmware update operation failed' when subsequent attempts until I have make a racreset. I tried clearing space by removing the logs of the system, I have done a factory reset, drained flea power and the problem persists.

I also tried to update from the Dell Repository Manager bootable media as shown here http://lonesysadmin.net/2011/03/07/the-easiest-way-to-update-a-dell-servers-firmware/. No joy.

Finally I tried the update to a new installation of CentOS; the upgrade appears to start but is never-ending; fwupdate s presents 'The Firmware update Operation failed'.

Is there any other approach, or y at - it logs I can check what goes wrong?

    Thank you!

    ClintonF_Dell,

The first things that I would look into what version of BIOS and the lifecycle of the R610 controller run. If you do not update those in tandem with iDrac you may encounter problems of this kind. If they're behind then I test this on one of them and get the BIOS and the LC caught up and see if after a racadm racreset and NVram clear as the iDrac allows you to update.

Also, have you tried to update the iDrac tab to update the iDrac with the firming.d6 file? To do this, for example, you download the iDRAC6_1.97_A00_FW_IMG.exe file and run it on a Windows system to extract the files, then find the file firming.d6 and save. Use it in the iDrac GUI tab updated. Now, I know that it is the current file name, so to keep walking until you need the 1.11 and so on.

These are the current versions, if you are far behind in these institutions, I recommend walk them up as well.

    BIOS 6.4 - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=C6MRW&fileId=3287843619&osCode=RH60&productCode=poweredge-r610&languageCode=EN&categoryId=BI

  • Update Firmware of BMC R610 of linux

    Hi mates,

I need to update a few R610 servers, I would like to only update the BMC Firmware if possible without shutting down the machines, is - it possible? I'm running debian on these machines.

I open it because I've been Googling much this and I found that maybe there are several ways to update the firmwares of server, including the iDRAC completely update, etc., but I am only interested to get the latest patches of cooling, so I guess that should be only update BMC.

Could you please some direct me in the right direction? I looked and I found some binary files in dell FTP, but I need to be sure of where to find the correct firmwares for my machines and what is the most common method through linux so far.

Thank you comrades, I appreciate the help.

    Hello

There is no separate BMC firmware in R610. You need to update firmware iDRAC who BMC features as well. Down, you can load the latest firmware iDRAC at the bottom of the location

    http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/product/PowerEdge-R610?driverId=63KCR&osCode=NAA&FILEID=3287900761&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=es

You can update the firmware iDRAC without stopping or restarting the system. As you have debian on these machines, I recommend you update iDRAC using Web GUI. You can check below link with a video on the updating of the process. First half of the video is on the download of the image that has changed a bit. You can download the File Format 'Application' link above.

  • Update firmware on esxi servers

    Hi all

I plan to update firmware on my two Dell servers.

Now my lack of Manager as an official document or the site who said that the updated firmware will be supported by the ESXi software.

It's after the upgrade of the card of network/BIOS firmware etc, this will be supported by the ESXI version.

The servers are already in production.

Can someone direct me to the site where I checked the firmware compatibility against ESXi software please

    THX

    Concerning

    Nicolas

Check the supported firmware versions listed for each system after selecting ESXi 6.0 (assuming you're going to the latest version)... This is as close as "documented" you will find.

    https://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/PowerEdge-R710/drivers

Firmware updates do not change the compatibility.

If you're worried, see the release notes for red flags.

  • Update firmware H730 on ESXi

We have two R530 running ESXi 5.5. They run slightly updated firmware on controllers RAID minis H730 I would like to update.

The problem is the firmware update files I can find are if you are on Windows or Linux. How do I the R530 firmware update if I run ESXi? I am aware of the image of Dell SUU, but it's more than 10 GB is size, which is much too big, even for a DVD double layer.

Dell do not seem to offer a "hard drive" version of the firmware from what I see.

tonybarrett in your case, you can start in the LCC (Life Cycle controller) to perform updates to the server.

1.demarrez Lifecycle Controller: press within 10 seconds after the Dell logo appears.
2Click on Firmware update and update Firmware of the launch.
The select the update repository page appears.
3Select FTP server as source location and then click Next.
    The enter access details page.
4 in the address box, type the host or IP address of the FTP server name, and then click Next.
    Server FTP from Dell (ftp.dell.com)
5The latest firmware is downloaded from Dell's FTP server, internal FTP server or FTP server of the service provider.
The select updates page appears. For a component, compare the currently installed firmware version and the latest version in the current and available column.
    6Choisir the required components.
    7Click applies.
Once the update process is complete, the system restarts.

I've been with many professional talking about Linux, Bud, no one is really sure what is the problem. They said several things to try; one of them is updated firmware. I've never done this before, I'm looking for help.

Number of exact model of my laptop is Toshiba a200-1GH psaece

    Please help if you can

    > There is a problem somewhere in the firmware of this map or the Linux kernel
What are you talking about boyfriend? This firmware of the sound card that you hear?
    I think you're confused.

First of all there is NO firmware for the sound card. Second, the sound card is controlled by sound driver.
Always is it that Toshiba laptops are preinstalled with Windows OS.
Linux is not supported at this time, and you won't find driver for sound card for Linux.

If you need a sound driver for this sound chip, you will need to download it from Realtek Web site!

That s all about your firmware to his mysterious map.
