Failure to auto restart

When specifying your computer either deliberately with restart after software update, stop takes place, button screen goes in power saving mode. To restart the computer, I have to hold the power on button until pc end stop, then click the button again to restart the pc.

Problem occurs almost every time, but not quite all the time.  Seems to disappear after repeated attempts to restart.

Hey Stan,

-Remember to make changes to your computer before this problem? There was software installed or uninstalled?

If the problem occurred recently, then perform the system restore to a date when the computer was working fine.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/products/features/system-restore

Note: /programmes. application that were installed after the last restore point will be lost. You may have to reinstall programs and applications.

Here's some thing you can try and let us know if that makes a difference.

1. put up-to-date drivers installed on the computer from the Device Manager.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

2. run Check Disk to verify that there are no bad sectors on the hard disk.

a. click Start and type cmd.exe in the start search box.

b. right-click on cmd.exe and select run as administrator.

c. type the following command and press ENTER.

Chkdsk /f

You may be asked a confirmation to continue the process, press y and press ENTER.

d. restart the computer so that the disk check starts.

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area so all available data on this risk to be lost

3. in addition, run the command to restart from the command prompt to see if that makes a difference.

-Open the command prompt and type Shutdown.exe - r-t 00 and press ENTER.

Let us know the results after trying these steps.

    Hello.

I have a big problem with Satellite A500 - 1C0. When I play the game, after 10-20 minutes of play come automatic restart. I can fix this?

    Hello

Looks like your laptop is overheating ;)

You must clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. Blow air gently and shortly into the holes of the case.
It of necessary to clean the cooling system from time to time. I do it every 3 months.

By the way: what display driver you are using? If you use a Toshiba not display driver remove and install the latest version of the Toshiba page.

    Hi Edberttjang,

Thank you for your participation in the communities of Support from Apple.

Don't panic! I see that your Mac restarted unexpected. It can be difficult to explain what is happening without more information, although I have a few resources that can help.

Since you have wiped the keyboard, is it possible that you hit a hotkey to stop, to sleep or restart your Mac? You can find a good list of keyboard shortcuts for the reference to Mac keyboard shortcuts.

When cleaning your Mac, it of a good idea to turn off the computer and unplug power. For more information on cleaning of Apple devices, see cleaning your Apple products.

Just in case your Mac restarts unexpectedly in the future, I recommend referring to this guide -OS X: when spontaneously, your computer restarts or displays 'your computer restarted because of a problem'.

  • How can I disable the auto restart (following updates) for Windows 7 Home Premium (without messing around w / the register)?

Hello.  About all of the weeks I have my upload computer files from one day to the next.  It's a 17-hour process, and I don't want the computer off or restarted during this process.  Murphy's law usually results in an update windows & restart related happening whenever I put my computer to download said.  First of all, it is deeply annoying that windows would reboot my computer without asking me (Yes, I realize he asks you, and if you are away for an extended period, he just goes ahead and does it... but really, what the $#! % is the point of asking you if she goes ahead and that anyway when you get him just enough early?)  Wow!  Incredibly retarted the Windows for this.)  But anyway, how can I disable this for Win7 Home Premium?  (As if in the first place is not quite annoying, making it virtually impossible to figure out how to turn it off is like adding insult to injury).  Please NOTE, I've seen some other forum post responses on this site that is: (1) link to an information page on the group policies for system administrators, but nowhere does really explain where and how to access these policies and change them!  (2) has a process that begins with 'gpedit.msc' running, but when I started > box to search for this file, there is no result.  (3) the hacking the registry (seriously?  Please, don't.)  SO, please tell me how to disable the auto restart, step by step, without messing with the registry, for WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM.  Ideally, I'd like to be able to potentially re - activate cela in the future and/or switches back as my usage dictates.  And for the record, it's nut that's not a simple option toggle any, as when my computer or monitor sleeps...  Thank you!!

Thank you.  I'll do it and change my Windows Update settings.  BUT, FYI, in an act even more incredible, the same night I posted my question here, my computer was said upload, and I was still in place at 03:00 (when Windows is set to d/l and install updates).  I went to the kitchen for a bit and returned to my computer to find a countdown - he downloaded updates and "will re-start in 7 minutes" or so and counting down... I said "AH HA!"  I caught you! "I clicked the button of REPORTER and went to bed smiling that I myself had saved wasting many hours of work.  But when I woke up the next morning... HE HAD DONE IT AGAIN!  This means that it is: (1) downloaded another "critic" (cough) update later in the evening, which seems likely because it took to do this at 03:00 and had already done so... or (2) the REPORTER button defers only during a certain period of time (maybe an hour, or even less, by the look of it) and then do it again anyway.

This is ridiculous.  As it is not ridiculous to called 9 10 patches 'critical', so critical that an urgent restarting your computer is necessary EVEN IF HE is BUSY WORKING, the substitution of the computer user asks to postpone and reboot anyway is absolutely unacceptable.  How the manufacturers of Windows might think this makes sense, let alone was a good idea?  Reporter should make the computer restarts DO NOT until * I * say he is allowed to do.

In this case, finish the work of 17 hours, that the computer was in the Middle has been MUCH more critical that whatever is downloaded updated.  NO doubt about it.  I know.  Apparently, my operating system is not smart enough to know.  So to take it upon himself to replace my reporter application is crazy.  And in addition, the operating system MUST be smart enough to understand this - it's really not that difficult - if the computer is a lot of work, something intense, a download that is not finished, a sort of bar of ANY progress on ANY application which is not 100% yet, etc., it should be smart enough to WAIT to reboot anyway.

Thanks again once, change Windows Update settings so it will download updates but let me choose to install them, since this operating system is so poorly thought.

  • Win7 Vista upgrade nearly complete but stops due to auto-restart failure

I'm trying to upgrade Vista Home Premium to Win7 Home Premium on my Sony laptop. I don't want to do a clean install of Win7 since I have a lot of older programs that I do not have the diskettes to install for more long.

The upgrade progresses through most stages (3 hours), but then he tries to do the first Setup reboot and fails with this msg:

"Windows has no prepare the computer to start the next phase of the installation."  To install windows, restart the installation. »

I tried again from the beginning and got the same result.     I made sure my computer (Vista) could well make a Start Menu-> Restart, and, in fact, he did. I.e. not hang up as he tried to stop.

So, what does this error message?  Is there something I can do to correct what is the cause?

Oh, BTW, I had the Trojan.ransom virus recently on the laptop for awhile but Malwarebytes quarantined it.   All my user files (jpg, wav, mp3, pdf, doc, txt, etc.) have been encrypted by the criminals, but it doesn't seem to affect the programs. (Fortunately, I had a backup of my files from the user.)   My main boot disk could be damaged?

    Thank you...

The first thing I would do is make a backup of your installation of Windows Vista on an external hard drive.

Best software free backup - EaseUS Todo Backup free

1 disable any security software before attempting to upgrade

    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)

    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.

    4. check your hard disk for errors:

    Click Start

Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD

    Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • Blue screen and auto restart while playing songs on Youtube

Original title: I've been on facebook, listen to music on youtube about google chrome and I got a blue screen talking about dumping phyiscal memory then automatic reboot.

Thoughts? Just a general blue screen or something? I did the Windows Memory Diagnostic and he said no problem and no virus of either.

These 2 accidents were caused by the corruption of memory (probably a driver).  Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

    * Don't forget to download any other DMP files (especially those running auditor)

    * If you are overclocking reset all default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!   If you don't know what it means that you're probably not

    1 - Memtest.

    * Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. http://www.memtest.org

    * Boot from the CD and let it run at least 5 or 6 passes.

    * Don't forget, anytime Memtest reports errors, it can be bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

    * Test the sticks individually and if you find a good, test it in all slots.

Any error is indicative of a memory problem.

If a well-known stick fails in a slot of motherboard, it's probably the slot.

    2. Driver Verifier

Using Driver Verifier is a dubious proposition. Most of the time it will crash and it will tell you what is the driver.

    * But sometimes it will crash and will not tell you the driver.

    * At other times it will crash until you can connect to Windows. If you can't mode without failure, then you will have to resort to editing the registry offline to disable driver verifier.

    * I would suggest that you first back up your data and make sure that you have access to another computer so you can contact us in case of problems.

    * Then do a system restore point (so you can restore the system using the functionality of Vista/Win7 Startup Repair).

    * Under Windows 7, you can do a startup repair disk by clicking Start... All programs... Maintenance... Create a system - with Windows Vista repair disc, you need to use your drive installation or from the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu.

    So, here is the procedure:
-Go to start and type "auditor" (without the quotes) and press enter
-Select 'Create a custom settings (for code developers)' and click 'Next '.
-Select "Select individual settings from the list complete" and click "Next".
-Select the entire document except for "Low resource Simulation" and click "next".
-Select "Select driver names from a list", then click "next".
    * Select all drivers that are NOT supplied by Microsoft and click on "Next".
-On the next page, select "Finish".

    * Restart the system and wait as he crashed to blue screen.

    * Continue to use your system normally and if you know what are the causes of the crash, do it several times. The objective here is to get the system crash because Driver Verifier is stressing out the drivers. If it is not planted for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

    * If you are unable to Windows because it crashes too early, try safe mode.
    * If you can't mode without fail, try to use the system from the installation DVD restore to bring the system back to the previous point of restoration that you created.
