Fan still to go at full speed

Hi all!

In recent weeks, when I start my MacBook Pro (as of 2011), the fan starts immediately runs at full speed. Everything works fine, but it's more than a little annoying (loud and it drains the battery...)

I tried the solution described in the article: to reset the SMC. I'm not very good in computer science, but I followed the instructions and I think I did it right (closed, shift + ctrl + option + on /-off button, startup). Unfortunately, this does not seem to have done the trick... The fan still runs as he wants to be a helicopter when he grows up :-)

Is there anything else I can try?

An Application can sometimes fans rev, check your login items to all apps from loading at startup and remove them, there is no change, you can add later.

You should try to reset the SMC again, do two or three times and make sure that the Magsafe adapter is plugged. If the fan continues you may have a hardware problem, try to run the Apple Hardware Test to see that if he reports an error using Apple Hardware Test - Apple Support if your computer originally shipped with install disks you meed disc two of gray's original installation on run AHT, insert it and reboot holding the key D. run the AHT two or three times in extended mode or until it reports a problem.

  • Fan will not go at full speed on ProBook s 4720

    I have a notebook ProBook 4720 s, Windows 7 64 bit

The problem is that the fan on my computer always remains at minimum speed and the computer warms, the fan does not accelerate to full speed. The computer is really hot ~ 70 ° C. The problem occurred when I updated the bios to its latest F.20. I think that there is a bug with this bios - that the bios will not control the fan properly. This type of laptop has a history of bugs in the bios: the original bios does the fan run all the time at full speed which has been resolved with a bios upgrade.

This bios came with a note that I can not downgrade to an earlier version which worked well. So my question is, can I expect an upgrade of the bios for this computer that could correct the error.

    to: Earhart-jir

There is a temporary workaround solution. only do so at YOUR OWN RISK.

This procedure works only on the ProBook s 4720 bios F.20. DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD ON OTHER MODELS!

It only works when the laptop is on AC POWER. Download 'read and write utilities' http://rweverything.phpnet.us/. run the program, then click the icon of the EC (embedded controller). in the on-board controller window that opens, you will see a matrix of 16 x 16 = 256 numbers that choose the "05" version in the column and row "D0". This number has an offset address 213 (in dec) and probably a value of 1.

(If you do not find it do not attempt to change a number at random, sound risky)

Change the value to something from 0 to 70 (don't exceed 7F) and the fan will speed up the desired value.

also, don't change the other values - risk of damaging the material

the procedure must be repeated every time you start

This procedure works only on the ProBook s 4720 bios F.20. on other models, the offset is different so don't try not not this method!

do it at your own risk only

the heart of the problem probably lies in the bad DSDT table (which came with the bios), but I guess that you would need an expert to fix it.

  • R720xd Fans incredibly strong, running at full speed

My R720xd runs all fans of Board of Directors full speed continuous system.

On switching on, fans at high speed for a second bump, then settle at reasonable speed and stay at reasonable speed during POST, up to the point where the iDRAC initializes, how they all kick at full speed and stay there. From there, the fans are going full speed. Nothing less than a reboot or shutdown will stop them.

I am not exaggerating even slightly. Fans run to 17 000 rpm, 24 hours a day. It's so loud that you can hear it through the walls across the building.

It has no operating system installed on this machine.

I've upgraded to the latest firmware, tried to change the profile of performance in bios and tried the whole hold the power all unplugged thing so button.

There is no possibility that it is overheating. Intake air temperature is 22 degrees, exhaust is 27, time CPU are 35-40 degrees.

I found other references to people with similar problems with R720s, but it doesn't seem to be any single common cause for it.

    Any suggestions?

I just followed on the resolution of this problem. The configuration of firmware and hardware were very good, the problem ended up being a faulty motherboard.

Dell sent a technician to replace the motherboard, and once this is done, the fans were running normally. Technology said he is seen several times, and the replacement of the motherboard is the fix.

I hope it helps someone else.

Thanks to Chris and other people at Dell for working through this.

  • Cooling fan still works with an average speed on the Satellite A100-405

    Hello guys,.

If anyone can give me a reason why my satellite cooling fan is always running at speed average. I shot all the "Toshiba Power Saver Properties" settings, to "Battery Optimized" condition and so I took the battery, and the pleasure of cooling is still running and operating at average speed. I'm in a place of model (18 Aºc) without any direct exposure to the Sun or heat.

If you can help me about whether or not it is a normal condition. I think that it is not normal to have fun all the time for work. Runs normally for 2 minutes and stops during a similar period (used to be the case in other phones that I had in the past).

Maybe, I need to set or check adjustments internally or in the Bios. I really don't know and I'm really worried about it.

    Thanks guys... Please respond.

Laptop cooling depends on the use of laptops and the applications that run on the laptop.
Strong performance of the software is running on the laptop each part as CPU and GPU produce a lot of heat.
Have you tried to use a material like Speedfan monitoring tool.
SpeedFan is a freeware program that monitors voltages, fan speeds and temperatures in computers with hardware monitor chips

But back to the energy saver. In the eve of power configuration, you should try to the CPU for auto control method and try to change the processor, the speed of processing and cooling method.

Don't forget that there is enough free space around the laptop. It is important for the circulation of fresh air.

  • Satellite Pro P100 GPU Fan off or full speed after updating the Bios to 4.20

    Hello

After installing the "nine" update Bios 4.20 the GPU fan is when the laptop is cool. While working with him the GPU temperature increases up to 100 ° C (very hot), then the fan starts to run at medium speed and the GPU is cooled. After a restart, for example. the next day, the fan still works on the average speed or high (very noisy). With the bios version before this problem appeared.

Someone at - it the same problem with his laptop?
Someone there done the update of the Bios before 4.20 and can send it to me?

    Welcome them

    Hi guys

May I ask which graphics drivers are you using?
If you n t use the original graphic driver on the site of Toshiba and the laptop can starts overheating. Non - Toshiba GPU led don t support protection against overheating as the drivers of Toshiba! If the temperature of the GPU would rise to a higher level, then the pilot would diminish GPU performance to reduce the heat.
Drivers graphic non-Toshiba don t control it and therefore the GPU could produce more heat.

Another reason for this problem could be changed to value of table fan.
I think that the cooling modules run faster and more often because the table fan has been changed in the BIOS. It may be necessary to prevent the overheating of the material.

  • Tecra R850 - sometimes the OS stuclocks-up, fans to spin at full speed

I had a R850 and complete random blocks of the laptop. When it crashes the fans start to run at full speed and windows is locked. I need to turn off the laptop and start over.

This can happen three times at a party, but it can also occur only those per week.

    Its complete random.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to tell exactly what is happening.
Each new laptop comes with preinstalled OS own and something like that should not happen. Later, when you start to install the updates or applications, it can happen that a background application blocking system.

In my opinion you should check the preinstalled stuff, processes running in the background to see who can be responsible for this, either you need to reinstall the recovery image and check how it works with the factory settings.

  • Satellite A60 - 672 fan never turns at full speed

    Hello

Juice recently my a60 fan ceased to run at full speed, it runs, but at a slow speed. now the laptop is very hot, very fast. I had an old a60 which brings the same, books equip module because of the problem. Ive tried to clean it out and iyt has not helped.

    can someone help me please.

    Hello

First of all, I would like to know you detailed unit name. What is a Satellite Pro A60 or only by Satellite A60?
On the unity of the Toshiba power saver should be preinstalled.
This tool manages the cooling module and CPU.
I think you should check the settings in the energy saver utility.
Here you can change the settings for maximum performance for the cooling method.
You can also try to change the speed of the CPU processing.

  • the fan runs full speed at the beginning upward

HP Pavilion p6-2037cb bought 19/01/12.  Windows 7.  There is no error message.

When I turn on the computer after it has stopped all night the fan running at full speed.  This has happened several times in the first month.  The first time, he stopped himself after a few minutes.  Then I learned to stop it by restarting the computer simply.  It still works, but what was once happen one or two times a month, happened twice in two days then you worry I the problem worsens.

It never happens when I use the computer because I don't do anything that requires a lot of cpu or causes a warm-up.  I just surf the web and send e-mail.  No games or videos or TV.

If it's a problem of connection fan I would like to know the nearest repair service.  I would rather that ship it.  But I can't find a list of authorized warranty repair service center.  I followed the links on HP Support Assistant but got sent to a site that does not list the pavilions.

I need to know why the fan runs full speed at first upward and where to repair close to where I live.

  • Tecra A10 - S3501 Power blinks, fan runs full speed.

    Welcome all,

I have a clients Tecra in the shop, and after having received a good description of what was going on at the tme of failure, I still can't understand it. She was watching a flash video when it froze. On reboot, it will not init the LCD, it seems at least partially POST, the CD spins, and all LCD screens blink as usual. Still no init LCD and the power light flashes green, without cause, is not a binary led post code. The fan runs at full speed directly and remained there for the duration. I counted 20 a second flashing with the fan at full speed, before you turn off the power. Any ideas? Customer has no guarantee, so would be good remedy for her. :-) Thank you and have a nice day.

You are able to access the BIOS?
Press ESC, then press F1 to access the BIOS

I also recommend to connect an external monitor to check if something would be visible on the second screen.
Otherwise I think that it s a screen hardware problem or GPU

I bought a Pavilion Elite m9510f liquidation of Circuit City a week and half ago. Big mistake... because I can't look upon return, but anyway. The compters CPU right at full speed, the box fan works all the time. When I call the technical support they had me check the connection of the fan to the motherboard and set power options to save energy. Problem still exists. They had me also pull the video card to be sure it wasn't this fan, but it was not. They tried to tell me that this is normal... No way should the CPU fan spin full speed all the time. I have no patients must remember and discuss with them righ now since I spent 3 hours on tech support Saturday for a new LAN card wireless, sent me. ERRRR.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have a problem with a Dell Poweredge 2900 server witht. The server is still running the fans at full speed.

I tried to update the latest version of the bios and the firmware for environmentally sound management, but the problem is not resolved.

Dell OpenManage shows only a single error, said of the intrusion into the chassis, casing is open, but case is closed properly. I think that the sensor is bad, I try to look for the switch, but I can't.

Please let me know where is the switch of intrusion of the chassis on this server, or how to disable.

As suggested by Theflash1932, the intrusion switch may be damaged and located on the Bay of housing Center fan. It cannot be replaced as one of its components. See the image below.
