Favicon

Hey all!

I want to create a favicon that will appear in the browser to version 5 and BlackBerry 6. I tried the 4 following.

http://find.mobi/favicon.gif"/ >

All of these work in Firefox. I have a favicon.png and a favicon.ico and a favicon.gif located in the directory root. However, this does not work on BlackBerry...

I use a BlackBerry 9700 v5.0.0.423 (Platform 5.1.0.116)

Someone has ideas in how to create a favicon for a Web site for blackberry? I was home for a good part of today!

I checked the source code of http://m.cnn.com and I do not see how they created it y favicon!

I did a search of the forum and these two links below have been my best results, but they do not solve my problem.

WebApp icon on the home screen

Make a shortcut icon web blackberry for my Web site? I GIVE UP

Thank you

Paul

From your question, I was expecting that it isn't on Blackberry Widget / development Webworks (correct me if I'm wrong).

Now, using http://m.cnn.com as an example, did you mean that?

If so, try to access to this: http://m.cnn.com/favicon.ico

There is the answer, just put a favicon.ico image file at the root of the path to the web.

    Is there a simple way to install the favicons in the Sierra of Safari? Thank you.

    Hi GrammaLo,

    Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    I see that you are looking for a simple way to manage icons in Safari. I understand the importance of being able to easily access your favorite sites. I can help you with this.

    An easy way to do it, is to pin frequently visited Web sites. Please take a look at the Safari Help Guide, specifically, this section:

    PIN frequently visited Web sites

    Facebook of PIN, Pinterest, Twitter, Gmail or any other Web site that you visit frequently throughout the day. Pinned Sites stay put on the left side of the tab bar, so you can easily get to them at any time.

    • Pin a website: Drag the tab with the site you want to pin on the left side of the tab bar. When the tab is shrinking and displays the icon of the Web site or its initial, drop it in place.

      You can also choose window > Pin Tab, or control-click on a tab, and then click Pin tab.

    • Reorder pinned Sites: Drag a pinned Site before or after another Site pinned in the tab bar.

    • Not to pin a website: Drag the tab pinned to the right side of the tab bar. When the tab expands to look like a regular tab, drop it in place.

      You can also choose window > unpin tab or Ctrl-click a pinned Site, and then click Unpin.

    Pinned Sites stay in place, even when you open a new Safari window or quit and reopen Safari.

    When you click a link to another website from a pinned Site, the other Web site opens in a new tab. Your pinned Site always shows the Web site as you pinned.

    All the best.

  • Why the tabs have now several images showing after the last updated favicon?

    The last update for Firefox has created a problem with the tabs. The tabs now have multiple images of the websites favicon projection. When I open a tab and visit a Web site, when the favicon shows then it creates multiple images of this favicon. When I click the tab and then back on it, they disappear, but obviously, this should not happen and did not begin until the last update has been installed. I even did an update and it does not solve the problem. I tried to upload an image, but the region has just a spinning wheel and the size of the image was only 5,41 kb. Apparently that doesn't work so well either. It seems that Mozilla Firefox has created a few bugs for its browser and help forum.

    If anyone knows how to fix this or get Mozilla to solve their problem, it would be appreciated. Thank you!

    You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

    You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Favicons repeat through tabs, behind the label text when you switch between tabs. 37.0.1 sometimes the Green scroll bar does not have too

    Please mention the attached JPEGS. When I switch between tabs, favicon image repeated behind the text. In some cases, the image of the vertical scrollbar is messed up, it cleared up when I click on it. -Does not appear to affect performance, simply annoying. Thank you!

    Please temporarily disable your Avast extension to see if it has to do with it.

    Try Firefox Mode without failure:

    Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

    If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

      then select restart with disabled modules.

    If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
      (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

    When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

    If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

    To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

    Since a few days now FF does not display the favicon and the titles of the tabs properly more. (see below for screencast)

  • Why bookmark Favicon changer is missing from the list of modules?

    The bookmark Favicon changer add-on is currently installed on my browser [ESR 31.2.0] and it seems to work, although imperfectly. Yet the pages of the add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/) do not list it at all, I see. What is going on?

    Yes, AMO means addons.mozilla.org. No, it's an unofficial acronym, like the SUMO is for SUpport.MOzilla.org.

  • How to use userChrome.css to move favicon and text on tabs 3px 2px left and

    I want to control the positioning of the favicon and the text that appears on the tabs. I hope that this will be possible using userChrome.css.
    Also, it would be possible to reduce the height of the background behind the tabs with userChrome.css?

    My goal is essentially to reduce the height of the tabs and the background behind the legs.

    Thank you

    You can find the code at the height of the tab bar in this file that you open through the address bar.

    • chrome://browser/skin/browser.CSS

    I use code like the following to adjust the height:

    @namespace url("https://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    /* Tab bar: adjust height - chrome://browser/skin/browser.css */
    #tabbrowser-tabs,
    .tab-background-start[selected=true]::after,
    .tab-background-start[selected=true]::before,
    .tab-background-start,
    .tab-background-end,
    .tab-background-end[selected=true]::after,
    .tab-background-end[selected=true]::before {
      min-height: 24px!important;
    }
    #tabbrowser-tabs {height:26px!important;}
    #tabbrowser-tabs toolbar button > .toolbarbutton-icon { padding-bottom:2px !important; }

    For the icon and the text, you can change the padding or the margin of these elements with these selectors:

    .tab-text {padding-bottom:3px !important; }
    .tab-throbber, .tab-icon-image  {padding-left:2px !important; }

  • I can't change the favicons in the 30.0 version

    I can't change the favicons in Firefox 30.0 version. There is no "change/reset/remove/export favicon" option when I right click. In the 28.0 version I could do.

    Who has never been a standard feature in Firefox. Now, either the add-on that adds this functionality to your Firefox is disabled, or is not compatible with Firefox 30. Take a look at your extensions to see what you have installed and if it is disabled. If this isn't the case, right-click this extension and use find updates. If it still does not use the read... button and look for the home page (not all extensions use this functionality provided by Mozilla) and see if there's information support or an e-mail address to contact the developer of this extension. It belongs to every developer add-on to refresh their stuff and support their stuff. Most add-on developers do a good job in this regard, but some only provide the module further without support and slower to update as needed.
    If it is an extension of the popular "we" can hep you, but we would at least nine correct name and maybe the URL where it can be downloaded.

  • Buttons on my bookmarks bar using the artisanal favicons, no names, and they disappeared - how to bring them back?

    In order to have a large number of available bookmarks my bookmark toolbar uses no names, just favicons, which are made mostly House. Stable for years, they suddenly disappeared. I have no record of what I have called every favicon - how to make a comeback?

  • How can I remove the bookmarks bar favicons?

    I've just updated to Firefox 29... and it disabled an add-on, I am using for some time (deiconizer bookmarks). Is there a way to remove ugly and unnecessary favicons in my bookmarks toolbar in order to make more room for real and functional bookmarks?

    You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist.
    • Use a text editor such as Notepad to create a userChrome.css (new) file in this folder (the names are case-sensitive).
    • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the Editor window and make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line.
    • Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you save the file via "save file as" in the text editor as userChrome.css.

    Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension, and you end up with a file not work userChrome.css.txt or userContent.css.txt.

    1. I'm a bit confused about the use of the descriptions of a bookmark.

    1. The description field provides additional information on a bookmark. From what I see, it is visible in the library. The field is filled in automatically when you to bookmark a page that contains a description, for example

    2. The following modules facilitate the location of the bookmarks in the library and the sidebar.
    3. You can try the add-on Favicon Reloader to reload site icons missing.
