FCPX library-media

Not new to editing, but fairly new to FCPX, I turned on about a dozen projects and try to develop the best workflow for my type of work.  I shoot two types of videos, 1 camera and camera 2-3, on 50-50.  I learned that unlike FCP7 I can link media or bring media in the project through the 'copy' instead of link selection.

QUESTION 1: After I imported media (and he therefore copied the media to the folder of file FCP project 4 balls, and then remove the media player where the original media was?)

QUESTION 2: If I use the method of the link, after I close the project and open a different project, whose media are on yet a third disk, delete the original media player as long as I'm not opening this original project?

QUESTION 3: Is there a way to have this kind of configuration...

  • OS DRIVE (SSD) hosts the library for all projects and all projects, photos, media files, etc. is on DRIVE 1
  • DISC 1 (USB3 SSD) includes all media of these projects, photos, videos, and other media, etc.
  • DISC 2 (USB3 SSD) has all the files rendering of the above

If the highest possible, how we implemented in FCPX and will that make the 4 small ball library file, or will it still be fat?

QUESTION 4: If I use the section "copying" to all media files and imported media and had started to edit and made all the tasks are complete, close a library folder of projects within FCPX and then after the closure of FCPX, can move the file to another HD (say a SSD), which has a directory of FCPX LIBRARY with the same name on the original drive and then open the project and start working on it and then move the file back to the original disc LIBRAY and continue editing.  This allows the project to be edited by different people on different computers.  In other words, some libraries projects are located in a folder and move from machine to machine via external portable drives to SSD USB3.

QUESTION 5: What is the best time to implement 'proxy files' in FCPX to media Import or after the media has been imported from the top menu bar?

Thanks in advance for all those who wish to take the time to help a pro acting as an amateur, while trying to learn FCPX.

1 should work.

2. you keep saying project, but I think you mean library. I hope you mean library. If so, then Yes.

3. Yes. I don't know what you mean by the 4 ball library file. If you mean the library on DISK OS, then Yes, it remains relatively low. Don't know what you get you're looking to put the files of rendering in DRIVE 2.

4 depends on where you copied media. If it is inside the library and you pass the library back, it will work, but the copy process will be very long if you have a large number of media. The usual procedure is to have two identical systems with the same name of library and media stored in a file on each system. To move updated information back a transfer library is used. It is a library containing all of the project (using this in the terminology of the FCP) and is used to transmit the information to the other system. Once it is passed to the other person, they integrate it in their library and throw transfer library.

5. no difference. Create a proxy support when you need it. If you know you'll need, you can create when importing, just make sure that the process of copying and transcoding is complete.

  • FCPX - library (deletion of files)

I am changing a film in FCPX. I'll try to explain my situation before asking...

-All the files (H.264), since the shooting of this movie are stored in an external hard drive.

-J' have only transcoded the best takes to ProRes use MPEG Streamclip and also they stored in the same HD.

-J' only imported the ProRes files into my movie library. Whenever I imported a file, I selected on the tag files: 'copy to the library.'

-The film as a whole is in a library in the same HD (with H.264 and the ProRes).

Now my HD is short of space. My questions are...

    1. since I just imported the ProRes files to my movie library, remove all my HD H.264 files? (btw I backed up on another hard drive).

    2. given that all imported media in the library of my film has been "copied in the library," if I copy this library in a larger HD, that would be enough to continue to work with my movie? I want to say, because everything is copied in the library is as an independent file with the whole movie and I wouldn't need since the other HD ProRes files?

    3. I remember once received a warning from FCPX on my HD space (at this time, I think I had about 150 GB free), so what's the minimum amount of space in a HD than FCPX needs to work properly?

Thanks in advance (and sorry for the grammar).

Copy the complete library to an external one and it should perform exactly like the original.

Test before you delete other things.

Be considered complete readers to 85-90% of its capacity.

FCP X can do its own transcoding to ProRes format.

Most of the time that h.264 works in FCP X without transcoding.

    Have you tried?

  • Import Final Cut Pro library media

Is it possible to import media from a library of Final Cut Pro X?  The library is displayed in the import box, but is grayed out. I can't navigate down to see the content to allow access to the already imported media.

Not directly as much as I know.

Right-click on the FCP X library and select "show the contents of the package.  There will be a folder for each event.  Within each of these folders will be a "Original media" folder that contains links to clips (external media) or clips (managed media).  Just make drag and drop links and clips into your iMovie event.  Copies will be in your library from iMovie for you is going to be duplicate files.  (I just checked that drag a FCP link creates a copy).

  • Library Media Player does not always update or the latest.

My Windows Media Player library do not update or the latest that arrived it convert mov to MP4 using QuickTime Player Pro.  I even restart the computer, and still, he isn't here.  The file mp4 in question is 107 MB 50:54 minutes.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition.

I found the answer on the forum, Ms.  I deleted the WMP database by following the instructions.  I had to stop a related service (the WMP network discovery) to be able to delete the file (not in the instructions).  This succeeded, the reopening of WMP, I saw all my $ MP previously missing.  No need to install any codecs because I now use VLC media player.

  • Library Media Player corrupt and no solution works to fix

My WMP is version 12, running on Windows 7 with all updates installed.   He cannot locate one music, videos or photos from the hard drive, on which it is installed.  It can locate the attendance of the media to another computer on a home network.   I tried all of the solutions that I can find on the support Web site and nothing works for me get the libraries.   Whenever I run a solution, I get messages indicating the old library was damaged and the problem was solved.  However, when I go back to WMP it shows not all libraries has been detected, and do manually allows me to build one following the directions on screen to build a library.   Then if I check with the Windows support tools, he said: I have a corrupt library.  I tried all of the following conditions:

    1. run the command prompt System File Checker.  No errors not found in the structure of the files on all of the system files.

    2. run a registry cleaner.

    3. delete the WMP library files by following the instructions provided by MIcrosoft.  After restart WMP, no library doesn't is rebuilt automatically, nor is one can all be built manually

4 use the Windows 7 onboard repair several times in the Panel who always says I have a corrupt Library and that the tool has solved the problem.

but nothing is ever found when I try to reopen WMP and build a library.

    5. WMP people disabled and removed using the optional Windows programs, then reinstalled WMP.  No improvement.

    6. use your Fixit application online technical support.  It shows several problems fixed, including a corrupt Library, but upon restarting, nothing is different.

    7. of course no directories are hidden, or read-only.  No change.

I'm not a novice beginner, but it's ridiculous and frustrating.  I don't know what I can do.

I can go into individual directories that hold my music, my pictures, and my videos, and WMP will open and read the files.  I can't get a library to create within the program from my hard drive, but it is the library on my other computer network. Go figure.

    Help!

    Hi,.

I understand that you have completed the steps for troubleshooting and remaining only option is to perform a upgrade in Place.

An upgrade in place is the final solution before you have to reinstall the operating system.

Note that it takes as much time to do the upgrade as to reinstall the operating system. In addition, some of your custom Windows settings may be lost through this process.

Run a repair installation will restore the current installation of Windows to the version of the installation DVD. It also requires the installation of all the updates that are not included on the installation DVD.

Note: A repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer.

Please see the link to upgrade in Place.

How to perform an upgrade on the spot on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2255099

Note: You can save data to an external hard drive and no CD. It is essential to back up data even if you do an upgrade on the spot.

  • Separate places for iTunes media library and database

I am currently using iTunes with my iTunes together on a NAS library and adding pieces can take forever. I want to do the following:

    1. keep my music in a folder on the NAS

    2. continue to use iTunes to manage and organize songs with the structure of the artist/Album/song, I added new things

    3. move the iTunes itl and xml files to the local hard drive

    4. without having to rebuild the database, if possible. I have a massive collection and the database on NAS won 48 hours.

Can someone help me get there where it won't take me another 48 hours to rebuild?

Not 100% sure it will work properly...  I know that you are your whole iTunes on the NAS.

On the internal drive of your Mac, in the folder of music the user account, create a new empty folder called iTunes there.  This is the default location for the folder iTunes (with library databases and media folder).  If there is an existing folder (currently unused) iTunes , delete or move to another location if you want to keep it.

Quit iTunes if it is running.  On the NAS, open the iTunes folder it (using the Finder) and copy all except for the iTunes Media to the (empty) folder folder iTunes disk internal.  Hold down the Option key and start iTunes. Choose the iTunes Library.itl file in the folder iTunes of the internal drive.

In the pane iTunes Advanced preferences, is the location of the folder iTunes Media on the folder iTunes Media on the NAS, or (by default) location in the folder iTunes on the internal drive?  If he has given to the default location on the internal disk, click change , and then select your iTunes Media on the NAS folder.  The TWO boxes there to keep iTunes Media folder organized AND copy files to the iTunes folder when adding to Library Media should be checked, if they aren't already.

Now, the real test is to see if your songs are related to files of song on the NAS, or if iTunes has lost track where the song files.  Try to play a song.  If she plays (you don't see a symbol of an exclamation mark next to songs in iTunes), then iTunes is access to the file of the song of the SIN.  If iTunes cannot locate the file of the song more and invite you to search for, locate the file of the song on the NAS for iTunes.  Using this information, iTunes can extrapolate where its music files and find them.

If what I described is not working properly, you can run Option in iTunes using your iTunes library on the NAS and try another method.

  • Restore the Windows media player MP3 device library

The music library in windows media center on my PC has been deleted. The music is always on my MP3 player. Can someone explain how to restore the library in windows media center. I have windows XP. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello CLIPUSER97,

    1. When you say MP3 player, are you referring to the Portable MP3 player?

If the library is removed from the computer and the files are wiped from the hard drive, you will not be able to restore.

However, if you have music files on your portable MP3 player, you can copy music files from the MP3 player to the computer and add it to the Library Media Center.

Try to copy the files of music from Windows Explorer.

Most MP3 players will appear as a "disk" on your computer, and you can browse the files on them by simply opening.

If you can do this, you should be able to copy / delete / move files between the MP3 player and the computer. Select all files from the MP3 player and copy it to the computer.

Once you copy the files on the computer, you can add the file to the Media Center.

You can check the link for more information about the Library Media Center below:

  • Windows Media Center won't add DVD files to its library which do not affect the disk C on Vista

    Hi people,

I had Media Center works well with more than 104 GB of movies in the library.

I ran out of disk space and a 1.5 TB drive was added to the system.

Once this new space has been initialized, I moved all film to him records and updated the path in Media Center to 'Look' that new folder.

Media Center can no longer see or read these films.

I deleted all the files associated with the WMP 11 app (APPDATA\Local\Microsoft\Media player to rebuild the DB but no difference.

Does anyone know how to activate the Library Media Center pull in DVD files outside the C drive?

    Thank you
    Derek

    Holy Cow,

I just found the answer in an article at www.paraesthesia.com/archive/2008/09/12/how-to-set-up-a-dvd-library-in-windows-media.aspx

The library 'Add folder' does not work in the Menu 'Settings' of Media Center.

On the other hand, it works via a right click on the window of DVD library.

IE: when you're in the Livrary DVD, right-click and choose Add movies.

This is a bug not documented in Media Center!

I finally got this animal working woooo hooo

    :)

  • Use existing footage of the external drive instead save the library?

I can't find any info on the internet for this using FCPX.   There is a sequence library file that records your videos (makes copies) in the library of FCPX.   You have to do if you already have your video on an external drive?  Otherwise, I am just double everything I have and fill up my external drive even faster with 4 K images.  FCPX should the images of the library that are duplicated or can work with existing external images already on my drive (copied from my GH4).

Images can be stored either inside the whole library, or it can be stored in a place designated outside the library. Media imported from a camera, a camera card or camera archive must be copied to the location of library media, either inside the library or to the designated place. Media who are not in a camera folder structure can be left in its original location and linked to the PCF, using symbolic links.

So "GH4 copied" is not really accurate enough. If you copy the media in its folder structure, media have again copy in the location of library of the PCF. If you check out the media out of the folder structure on your hard drive you can use it in FCP with symbolic links, even if you run the danger that the media are not treated properly or it separates symbolic links through mismanagement.
