features of Windows 7 pc Event Viewer

the other day, so that navigation event viewer and explore what all the tools in the toolbar, or the opening of subscriptions or it could be analytical see debug logs... ? and whatever it is, he did so as long I know a few years, he goes to a wink in error, this is not a loophole situation with some options that I have no idea of what they are, and Ctrl alt delete seems the quiet way only to deal with, like the other give windows options with an important collapse.  Well well the other day, open the event viewer, I was greeted with a wink by mistake that covered several errors, I had no idea they were and started hitting the close button and the other options to will be and event viewer will stop. Now, I can get into the event viewer, but if I open or take place custom views. the screen flashes and then disappears from the event viewer, with no nada. Except if I go into Windows and applications logs and hit the properties of event I get this: log name: Application

is it a normal thing? can we see the coded message here, if there is one, how to fix this? Thank you

Understand and interpret the event viewer reports are not an easy task. In the link below some basic information on the use of event viewer are detailed, which you may find useful:

http://www.gerryscomputertips.co.UK/syserrors5.htm

You pasted an event ID: 0 report in your message and asked can we see the cipher here. As a user who has considered several reports, my answer is no. The reason for the report is obscure and like the event viewer reports that it's probably simply reports for example, an event that something important has not been done. My experience tells me to go and find a larger report. If you have a problem with Adobe Reader search the application log.

The wording in the paragraph immediately below, commonly appears in many reports of the event viewer.

The description for event ID 0 in source Adobe Reader cannot be found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

You probably won't find any official explanation for why it happens. It is not generated universally and arises only on specific computers. It is obvious, because for some reports of the event ID, you can see two variants of the same report.

A report short event 20 as it should be:

Log name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-WindowsUpdateClient
Date: 03/01/2015-16:30:23
Event ID: 20
Level: error
Description:
Installation failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800703f9: update for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB3020338).

An event report 20 abstract, showing the problem:

Level: error
Description:
The description for the 20 from source Microsoft-Windows-WindowsUpdateClient event ID is not found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event is on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information has been included in the event:

  • Windows Fax and Scan/Event Viewer

I have 2 issues that I believe are interdependent.

I am running W7 x 64 edition family and until recently and scanning worked perfectly but suddenly stopped. Now the application does not show my internal Modem (soft) or my external Fax Modem - that are displayed in the device (with no problems) Manager. The App said No accounts set up, and when I try to accounts 'Add', nor the modem show and if I try to ' add by using a name, I just get a statement of error message "the mentioned fax server is not available"... telling me to try again later."

When I first set up fax and scan, I just plugged my Modem Fax (new) and when I went to add accounts - the two Modems showed. I simply took the external Modem and everything worked fine - now none of the Modems are recognized.

I tried the remedy of re-fax service under control panel of configuration/administration/services etc... is indifferent.

I looked at a lot of positions since 2007 and this seems to be the problem well documented and a pending problem resulting from an update of Windows, but it is unclear which.

Of all the posts I've seen, it's a well known error / well documented that has not already been corrected.

At the same time, my event viewer does not work - when I try to open it, a message simply says "Service not available event log. Verify that the service is running.

I try to run the service and "starts and stops"... In any case, among the thousands of posts on this topic and also I tried remedies including remove/rename the Windows/system32/LogFiles/WMi/RtBackup

I think remember me one saying the 2 problems are interrelated. Any ideas?

    Hi Gerry,

No, I have already gone through Device Manager and no device No. Bad shown.

Yes, I used fax and scan before several times on my x 64 system and it worked fine until recently.

    HOWEVER, "good news".

I found a site called http://tools.sysprogs.org/srvman/ SYS PROGS

The site has a small standalone application called srvman that I downloaded and it allowed me to launch the event log / event viewer / Fax - which none could start the Services on the right menu by clicking on the selection and selection automatic (or manual) and then start. Each of them would start and then stop.

In any case, they began with this app and then Windows Fax and Scan App and still no joy.

I then went to "Turn Windows features on or off" and of selected Fax and Scan and printer Opps, then re-selected them (I had tried this method a few times before without success)...

Restarted the computer and the events/event log viewer / fax and scan works very well... (only thing was Fax and Scan doesn't seem to see my external Fax Modem (soft) modem internal but recognized and 'Fax account' remained together upwards, so all good to go.)

Thanks for your help... your directions encouraged me to keep plodding on this issue frustrating and eventually got somewhere - but by "Good luck" more than my own 'good management' :-)

The most interesting newspapers are usually the Application and the system.

Some newspapers such as security and Internet Explorer may be completely empty or have just a few items.  The default settings for XP wants do not connect all this activity, unless you need to solve a problem in these areas.  If you enable logging for them the papers fill up quickly and could adversely affect the performance of your system with all the extras (often unnecessary) activity.

If you have Microsoft Office installed, it has its own newspapers, and they can be empty or occasional boring activity very little or, if there is no problem with your desktop applications.  It's normal.

Not every event is a problem, some are informational messages that things work very well, and some are warnings.

However, no event should defy reasonable explanation.

Each event is sorted by Date and time.  Errors will be red Xs, warnings will have yellow! s. information messages have white are.  Not every error or warning event means that there is a serious question.   Some are excusable at boot time when Windows starts.  Try to find only the events to date
and the time around your problem.

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove personal information from your information
After having stuck if you are forced to do so.

If you paste an event, it will look something like this annoying system startup event:

I did find something online that contains all the system boot or start specific drivers. Windows and harddrive was working in another computer just before he was switched. Let me know if you need other information.

    Thank you.

First of all you are missing probably a number of device drivers, particularly the network card driver and the driver of the motherboard.  Use your XP disk to perform a repair installation.  This should go a long way toward you're going to get.  If your new box has a driver disc that should help a lot.  You can't port XP perfectly the way you did.   It usually requires a repair installation to fix the hardware abstraction layer.
