FI/IOM: better design of wiring

In our UCS system with 2 chassis, we have 2 links between the IOM 2208 and FI 6248:

For an IOM, what is the best design wiring:

-connect theIOM to Eth1/1-2

-connect the IOM to Eth1/1; Eth1/8

... On average, it is preferable to use the same Unified Port Controller (UPC) ASIC [called Carmel, I think only] or use 2 different UPC?

and why?

THX.

Nicolas.

The 6200 and 2208 the best design option is actually to ensure all the server bindings (FI <->IOM) are related to the SAME UPC (carmel ASIC).  This will give you the number alive at the system max.  By spreading your connections through different UPCs may increase redundancy, but it will decrease your bright max County at the same time.

If you want to see UPC mapping, you can connect to the CLI, connect to the NXOS context and run the following command:

FI-A-6248-A (nxos) # display all-hardware ports internal carmel

The column with what you fear is a labeled "car" (carmel).  As you can probably see the first column corresponds to the Interface.

FYI - I have yet to see a controller failing port ASIC.  Its MTBF is well beyond many other components including SPFS, cables, etc.  I don't sweat worrying about redundancy of ASIC level in this regard.

Kind regards

  • NAC L2 OOB VG Design for wired

    Hi all

    I need help of the NAC 2 OOB virtual layer for wired users design bridge . On Cisco documentation configuration only example is present, but it is for wireless users who is not applicable to my case (wired users); Here are the details; Please correct me if the design does not at any time;

    1: create a virtual local network (241) for the management of the CAM on the kernel.

    2: create a virtual local area network (240) for the management of CASES on the kernel.

    3: the IP addresses of both (10.10.240.1) E0 and E1 (10.10.240.1) for the CASE will be on the same subnet and same ip address.

    4: create all Trusted SVI's VLAN (vlan 10,20) on the kernel.

    5: configure manage subnets for vlan not reliable (100, 200) on CASES

    6: create a vlan mapping n/b approved and not approved (10 to 100, from 20 to 200)

    7: core connected to the CAs: E0, trunk allowed vlan 10, 20, 240

    8: core connected to the CAs: E1, trunk allowed vlan 100, 200

    9: another typical configuration

    I don't have a LABORATORY to test. I'm just confused if I missed something as implementation will be critical, and I'll try to avoid all risks.

    Please give me suggestion and best practices. Also please let me know if I need a config added?

    Kind regards

    Abdul Majid Khan

    Abdul,

    Port profiles are used to determine if a port is managed or not managed, so you will need at least a port profile. Here you can define what will be the VLAN initial of the switchports that the final VLAN will be etc etc.

  • A better designer degraded for CS5?

    Hi guys,.

    you know some plugin specialized to create gradients that works under AE CS5?

    The "Ramp" base effect is so limited...

    I need elliptical gradients and control of the orientation of intermediate colors... You know.

    Something like the old ' WalkerFX Gradient Designer ' of DigiEffects. (this is a legacy product)

  • Why use an implicit property better than a wired one reference node?

    The next question is a CLAD practical exam:

    You have control over the façade of a VI and modify one of its properties at run time. Which of the following statements is the best approach you would take?

    a. create an implicit property node and select the property to change

    b. create a command reference, the reference to a property node and select the property to change

    The answer is A. Can anyone explain why? My old STE had a big problem with the implicit property nodes (although I'm not 100% sure why).

    If this question is replicated correctly, you have to guess what the q ' er had in mind when they wrote that Q.

    A let's you right - click here to find the control, the other allows a Subvi. the first is easier to write and understand, it is easier to maintain.

  • Design requirement has evolved, savings where the user has navigated to.

    Continuing this thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Confirming-a-design-where-I-need-to-save-whe...

    Requirements have changed.

    I now need to save the position on the screen where the user has navigated to once the screen has been redesigned.

    Specific screens are relayed on and painted according to a TimerTask. Once the screen again, I must automatically reposition / scroll to the position that the user was on the screen.

    For example:

    1. A user can leave a screen open for ten seconds.
    2. A user scrolls down to 3/4 of the way down.
    3. Once this time is up, a TimerTask is executed and redraws the screen with new data.
    4. If the user did scroll down in a VerticalFieldManager 3/4 of the way down, once the screen is redrawn the user must be back to the same position - 3/4 of the way down in the VerticalFieldManager.

    Ideally, I would like to save the XYPoint and then reposition the screen for the XYPoint recorded - a small prototype needs to be done for my part, granted.

    However, is there a better design or any who has implemented this feature before on OS 5.0.0?

    Thank you.

    I did so with a Manager (s) personalized using the recursively offset of vertical scroll through the stack of Manager as suggested by Peter, but be aware that you must not only parchment of, but the position is within the screen/Manager to follow the actual position of the screen against the perceived one. Here is the code that I use in my manager with my custom functions:

    public final int getAbsoluteY(){
       int absY = (getY()+drawY);
       while( getManager() instanceof CustomLayoutManager ){
          return absY + ((CustomLayoutManager)getManager()).getAbsoluteY();
       }
       return absY;
    }

  • Newbie design question

    Try to understand how it works under the covers, so I can make better design decisions.

    I understand that phonegap is basically web browser running your application on the phone. When you build your installation iphone (I've never done that), is that basically take all your web stuff (files, html, images, js, etc) and wrap them as an "application" and put them on the phone of the person (in your "app") and run the whole thing locally (via phonegap) as a web server? That means that when you load index.html, it loads a local copy (on the phone) and not a http://mywebsite/index.html version.

    If this is the case, then I guess that means php calls are made via ajax or something, to my external Web server, and I guess I have to whitelist (I read that somewhere) or something.

    but the main key, I guess, is that the app on the phone seems to work a browser and small database web server too?

    Not quite.

    Assets (html, js, css, graphics) is stored in the app bundle and displayed in a native Webview component.

    There is no local server involved.

    PhoneGap is just the tool. It prepares your hybrid application signed .apk, .ipa, etc.

    PhoneGap is not active at run time! There is just a piece of javascript, which is included in your assets, to act as a bridge between your local native javascript and plugins.

    Scripts on the server side are to perform on a remote server on communication ajax (or via a socket). You design your app server MVC - ish.

    Hello LP700CR7 (your name?).

    a beginner you are (your words) we never charged to the top of your Web sites to your supplier? If so, there is no difference: you must use an FTP program, insert the number of the server and a user number (given the host or the supplier) and the password (users choice). All these data, you will get the old site web designer or - if there is fair play - your customer. If this spirit of sport was not the case, I can tell you, as firmly as possible: the legs!

    You use hostname in your url of the IOM in the xlconfig.xml file. Add entry in your file hosts with this host name and its ip address. Or update xlconfig.xml with the IP instead of host name. It should work.

  • Problems with audio/video streaming with USB devices on zero clients

    Hello:
    We are using view 6.1.1 in our environment and problems getting audio/video streaming to work well with the USB headsets, with zero customers.  Helmets are Jabra Link 360 and customers zero Samsung NC241.  Helmets are used as well for the phones to Jabber and also as audio device by default.   We started with the audio driver Teradici and everything seemed to work well, except that users could not answer calls on the headset itself with the button on the headset.  They were able to answer the calls of Windows though and the part worked fine.  In order to get the physical button to work, we had to first fill the USB receiver they use on the zero clients so that Windows will see as the device Jabra 360 and not the audio device Teradici.  Then we had the EHCI USB mode on them as well, and after that he started to work very well.  However, the helmets also serve as the audio device main as well as the communication (phone) device, with audio streaming continuously throughout the day.  With the current configuration, audio streaming will cut in and out during the day, and audio/video is not always to stay in either phase.

    I also applied the registry in this KB hack, VMware KB: improvement in audio quality when you use speakers or USB headsets with a desktop VMware view Horizon 5.2 , which helped clear up Crackle that we originally with the part phone headsets.  But there is still the issue of streaming audio.

    I wonder if the effectiveness of the bridging USB is not as effective and also is there a way to make this work better?  I read that the use of the pilot Teradici is supposed to help with audio/video problems, but do not know how that can be applied to USB devices as we use.  I've been reading upward on Teradici audio/video settings, but do not know where to go from there.  I was hoping that there are some best practices to use USB headsets with a view, but so far I'm not finding anything useful.

    For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

    We were finally getting help by the people of Cisco after validation in the here and even open a support ticket with VMware, which was open for more than a month without will.  Where others try to implement similar, here are our findings:

    • Zero clients combine traffic USB and PCoIP.  It is not good when there is a lot of audio/video/USB traffic, especially the USB headsets that also carry audio softphone.  In our case, the USB traffic was so dense that it was causing audio and video become troubled and freeze and eventually cause the pcoip_server service to break in the virtual machine itself and cause the client disconnect.  The fix?  Don't use customers zero with USB phones software, they are not just designed for this type of solution.
    • Thin clients are much better designed for USB softphones.  In our case, we used the Cisco VXME client, which is the method of support for the use of Windows thin clients with the client of the Horizon.  There is integration between the two products that isolates the VOIP traffic out of the virtual machine and keeps it local on the client itself.  Regular audio and video traffic still go through the virtual machine using Teradici or VMware RTAV driver.

    Hope this helps others who may run this question.  One thing we did not try was a wired headset using the AV sockets on the zero client and Teradici audio driver.  This can work, but our needs here were the headphones must be bluetooth, so we were forced to stick with USB.

    Almost everyone noticed the battery life shorter next to its design sucked after that they have updated ios10.

    After I check my log of battery on the iphone, I found something interesting.

    Map of Apple keep asking my position all day, 15.3 hr exactly and kept refreshing. but the funny thing is that I don't use card Apple today.

    I manually kill apple map in the background, and I'll see what happens tomorrow. If it keeps refreshing itself, I have no choice but uninstall Apple card.

    Actually, I think that Apple card is better designed compare with some other updates called.

  • IPhone 5 is - when it's 128GB?

    I bought a 5 s with 64 GB iPhone when Apple and AT & T had stopped selling them and had 32 GB as the largest capacity.  I found a new one on Amazon. I loved putting my 5 pockets (clothing women's pockets smaller than men) and always have it with me. I knew I'd better buy the best 5s that I could find since Apple went to the largest 6s.

    I bought an iPhone 6 Plus at this time instead of an iPad mini, as he had the most recent features that the mini was not at the same price.

    The 6 most ' rounded edges made much more difficult to hold, it is part of the NO pockets and the switch on the side is off inadvertently at inopportune moments by the gripping hand. I imagine that the smaller 6s would have the same problems.

    I am delighted they admit that the square edges, smaller size and turn off turn on albums are a better design than the 6 new and successors.

    I still love my 6 more, but she stays in my purse to hand most of the time.

    I would buy an iPhone 5 is if they sell a 128 GB model and give it the touch screen of pressure. Until then, I'm happy with my iPhone 5 s.

  • Some suggestions for the next Qosmios

    The Qosmios are excellent machines for multimedia. However, screens in previous models have low resolution and I believe that one can predict the minimum requirements of the high-def. I hope Toshiba made a better screen to take full advantage of the power of the system. In addition, I hope that Toshiba fits better design for Qosmio laptops. Qosmios are used for multimedia and game, so why not give it the cool air right? They are not intended for business stuff, so there's no need to be formal with the design. Just got this idea when I saw the concept of mobility of some other laptop producers. I know that Toshiba will make a multimedia laptop + better games (in terms of performance and design).

    [Edited by: admin on 10 March 06 20:30]

    Hello

    Today I visited the largest electronics store in my city (after a longer period) and I looked at the supply of laptops. I saw there are some Qosmios (series F and G). In my opinion, the design is fantastic especially G series. The design is a mixture between elegance and futuristic note. I like it a lot.

    I really put t know why you think that the display is not good enough. Qosmio has TruBrite discovers Wide 16:10 TFT color screen and in my opinion, it's fantastic. More details at stake, are fantastic. If you check other producers of laptop you can't beat a. In my opinion design and how cell phone looks is just a matter of taste.

No one said I should use all the stuff pre-installed. OK a Toshiba DVD player has much better design but I watch the movie to full screen and I don't like the design. ;)
