  What happens when you try?  Make sure you drag the icon image and not the text of the name.

  If it still doesn't work there are some registry changes that can try to alleviate the problem.  But because the changes to the registry are tedious and dangerous, I recommend to leave the system to repair it for you.  Here's how:
  1. Type of restore in the search box of the start menu to find and open to restore system files and settings from a restore point.
  2. Click Next, choose a date before the problem started, then click Next once more.

  • This process only takes around 2 minutes and only restores your system files/settings: it will not affect any of your files, documents, photos, emails, or anything else.
  If the system restore does not resolve the problem try this to replace missing or corrupted system files.  Here's how:
  1. Type cmd into the start menu search box, and then press Ctrl-Shift-Enter to launch as administrator.
  2. At the command prompt to start the File System Check, type sfc/scannow .

  I have two iMacs (my wife and I). If the modem cable is directly connect to one of the two iMacs, the internet works fine. However, when the Linksys router is part of the configuration, the iMac to my wife can connect via the Ethernet port but my iMac won't. My iMac can connect via WiFi.   The problem you describe will occur when changing the device connected to a modem cable without having to reboot the cable modem. Cable modems that are not as routers will communicate with a single device and refuse to connect to what anyone else, until you cycle power.

  Turn off your modem cable NCR and leave that it turned off. For reasons I don't understand (and will may not be not necessary), some cable ISPS also recommends disconnect physically their coaxial cable modem to perform a reset "full." During this time you can turn off the Linksys router also. Connect the iMacs to the router, either its LAN ports, via an Ethernet switch directly. It is not necessary to turn off Macs.

  Wait a few seconds, then reconnect the cable to the modem if you disconnected and turn on both the modem and the router. It should work.

  There is no reason why the iMac should not be able to use a USB mouse. With the mouse connected to the computer off the computer tower and turn it back on. Now it doesn't recognize the mouse? If this is not the case, try a SMC reset.

  My NAT type has been closed and I opened my router page to see if the ports are open, they were not, but the fact is that I've wound up with making a single change to routers setting but now my wired connection does not work but my dose wireless.   We had a problem with our router that I tired to solve and played a bit with some of the internet settings, I think that maybe I changed something permanent as since then the wirelles worked only occasionally (now almost never)

  See the documentation that came with your router. There should be an option to reset to factory conditions. If you can reset back to factory conditions all changes will have been removed and you can start from scratch.   Often, I emptied the Recycle Bin. There are 3 things I would like to improve.
  (1) I have to switch to the display of the trash, then on the file menu, select file > empty trash. I should be able to do this from any view.
  (2) the trash is not visibly withdrawn my trash review - I have to move the mouse up and down the display of the trash and then items visibly disappear.
  (3) I would like to be able to put a button in the toolbar to remove all the waste rather than having to go to the file menu.

  I've been using Thunderbird is probably 3 + years old and it has been very reliable, I think it's a good product. Updates work fine.
