File Explorer doesn't recognize the floppy drive.

File Explorer Windows 8 does not recognize my floppy drive! The drive can be accessed via the command prompt, so on the very rare occasions when should he use it is not a serious problem, but I would like to be able to make the easy way - funny how the old DOS commands always come naturally for me, however!

Problem solved! The floppy drive does show not under 'computer' in the left column, but I found by clicking on "computer", it is listed in the main window. Looks like I was just framed by one of the minor differences between versions of Windows 8 and earlier!

I think that the confusion is due to the difference in behavior of reader to other removable drives - connect a USB drive or insert a disc in the DVD/CD player & the drive letter immediately appears in the left column. Insert a disk in the floppy drive and the drive does not read it - it is necessary to click on the drive in the main & open the from there.

    Hello

Don t think you would be able to solve this problem without to replace the CD/DVD drive again.

You get an IDE #1 error message. Am I wrong? This happens because your CD/DVD drive supports master/slave/c-salt settings wrong!
Because no compatible settings BIOS cannot recognize it properly.

In your case I would contact the local ASP for more information on compatible CD/DVD players and get a new one.

  • Access to the floppy drive crashes Windows with code: 0X000000F7

After you have installed the Windows XP updates a week ago (10/22/09 - while others seem to have gotten 0x000000E7 BSOD), my computer hangs when you try to use the floppy drive.  Neighbor has same problem.  However, another neighbour, who did not install the updates since 1 September doesn't have this problem.  We use Windows XP.  I even created a file on the diskette using the player of the 'good' of the neighbor and tried in my computer and the neighbour - always crushed the two machines.  Saw post to that topic or similar problem the other day, but he lost it when I hit the wrong button and cannot find him. Help!

He is now 10/29 (5:20 pm EDT), and after three days of trying to solve this problem, I'm really frustrated.  Carefully removed eight updates installed since 14/10/2009. I removed them one at a time in reverse order, they were installed (LIFO) and I tried using the floppy after each removal drive, but still get BSOD. My BIOS/CMOS watch floppy drive and my device manager says its working. I even deleted the physically and in the BIOS, floppy drive deleted the contoller of floppy and drivers floppy drive in Device Manager. restarted and other devices working properly.  Reinstalled drive, reset the BIOS, restarted and Windows loaded automatically (as checked in the Device Manager) drivers - always get BSOD when trying to read the disk.

I would have completely uninstalled CA, except that this user really liked the CA email spam filtering. So, I disabled the antivirus and antispyware of all parties and uninstalled the CA Personal Firewall, and here, the floppy drive has started working. I then installed the new Microsoft Security Essentials to prvide a / v sp and psyware protection.

Will there be another Windows coming out soon with the floppy drives and DVD players.

    Hello

Disks: I don't think so. I always keep 25 floppy disks for Windows 95, should be a few thousand disks for Windows 10. Very, very, very expensive to store files and transport.

Of DVD: would soon come out, new machines will have 10 Windows (who knows) pre-installed or downloaded. You can always find Windows 10 DVD in some countries where users will still have to use dial-up Modem.

    Hope it makes sense.

  • Satellite R630 - 11L - sometimes did not recognize the SSD drive

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite R630 - 11L and I just bought a Corsair F120 SSD for her, but my laptop a few times did not recognize the SSD drive and fails to start occurs. I searched on the Internet concerning the issue, but there are any topic related to my problem. in recent days, I have updated my bios but the problem remains. for example if I put the computer to sleep and he never wake ups as it should be. the blue windows screen 7 failure comes and an error message 'could not access the windows volume. If portable succesful started without problem occurs until I reeboot the computer. so most of the time I have to restart computer about 5 - 6 times to work normal. At the same time, I opened a topic on the corsair website. They told me to test my drive on another computer, so I test it on laptops, dell and hp to my friends, but there is no any problem don't like this.

So I test my ssd on an another toshiba laptop R630 which has a different hardware configurations, the problem remains that laptop too...

So I think toshiba may provide a bios update to fix this problem. This laptop really great, so I don't want to buy another.

y at - it advice to solve this problem?

    concerning

    Hi machka,.

    > I think that here is the toshiba support forum. is not here?
Here he s a Toshiba forum, that of right, but you can only chat with normal users like you and me. You will not find someone from Toshiba here.
The forum is provided Toshiba but for Toshiba users to exchange experience on different products.

So I think that the Quad is just. No one can say that every SSD is compatible with all computers. You need to understand this!
There are hundreds of different players and computers on the market and I m sure that no one can test a new computer with all SSD on the market. This is not possible, because it takes a lot of time and more expensive laptops that I think.

So if the SSD doesn't work, there is nothing that you can wait for the BIOS update.
Otherwise, you must purchase another SSD. Alternatively, you can ask a service provider allowed in your country, maybe that technicians have already experience with some SSD in Satellite R630. Just ask for that, they are the first contact for you! :)

  • Satellite L - Vista does not recognize the HARD drive

OK, I have spent the last 5 days or more trying and do not install vista on the laptop miserable with no chance and ive finally succumb to ask for help here.

Does anyone know what driver I need to use to allow Vista to recognize the SATA drive? I got some drivers download Toshiba chipsets article section and put it on a USB key, but they do not work. I get the message "Windows cannot locate the disk media to install windows" or a similar message. If I load all the drivers, then its just total failure - Windows installation procedure says that it cannot find the target medium or such a message. He develops files, loads the files and then stops and gives this message. There are all sorts of other stupid messages that would normally make me want to take the / offending laptop and throw it out the window. Needless to say, has not yet happened.

Also does computer some odd scratching / clicking noises during installation - it seems to come under the laptop - looks like it's either a problem with the hard drive or DVD drive, or both. I get up then a blue "Material error" message screen of death

I know it's not nice to go and my error messages are a bit vague (I must have spent countless hours installation and got so many error messages to send me brain dead mode) but thought id just ask to get some ideas - thank you.

    > "Windows cannot locate the disk media to install windows" or a similar message.
You can install windows without use drivers SATA.
Access the BIOS and set the SATA from AHCI compatible mode mode.
This should allow to install the OS

    Hello

You replaced the HARD drive by a new one or the BIOS don't recognize the old HDD?

Usually if the laptop is not able to start and that the BIOS does not see the old HDD then I guess that the HARD drive is faulty.
If the BIOS doesn't recognize the inserted new HARD drive and then either you ve bought is not compatible, or the size of the HARD drive is just too big.

Please provide more info. You see error messages?

  • Stopper 0x000000F7 blue screen error occurs when you try to access the floppy drive.

The error occurs on computers 3differnt.  Sometimes using "My Computer" to access the floppy drive.  Malware, spyware and viruses, the computer has been verified.  Clean everything. No new disk drivers listed.

Tell us what you have done that you are convinced that it's clean... Here is a description of the error code in the Windows debugging tools help file:
    "Bug Check 0xF7: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER.
    Bug Check 0xF7: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER

Bug DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER control has a value of 0x000000F7. This indicates that a driver has saturated a stack-based buffer.

2 the expected security check cookie

    Cause

A driver invaded a buffer based on the stack (or a local variable) in a way that would have replaced the function's return address and jumped to an arbitrary address when the function returned. »

This is the classic "buffer overflow" attacks of piracy in my opinion. The system has been reduced to prevent a malicious user to take complete control of it.

This is very probably a malware problem or a problem with a driver.  I suggest several anti-malware scans to make sure you are clean and then begin to check your drivers to see if there are some more updated versions available.

  • Cannot get the floppy drive to work.

Well, maybe noone here will want to address this issue, but I really need an answer that I use the files mentioned below in my profession. Any help would be appreciated. And if I posted this in the wrong place, sorry, this is the first time I used these forums and didn't really know where to post.

OK, I know this floppy are are outdated, but I have a bunch of files that I created years ago when the diskette was everything you had.

I had a disk in my computer that I was using and one day I tried to open some files in the floppy drive and it says that the disk has not been formatted and I wanted to format the IDE drive.

I got a new floppy disk and it says the same thing. I tried to format it and received a message that said Windows cannot format the drive.

So, I thought that maybe the old IDE floppy drive had gone belly up. I ordered a new floppy USB of TigerDirect drive and installed. It does the same thing.

Can someone help me get this floppy drive so that I can access work files.

I have a HP Compaq dc7600 form small computer running XP Pro SP 3. The floppy drive I ordered is an external USB floppy drive PowerUp G54-8016.

I have a Zip USB drive and it works.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know why the IDE floppy drive was working and then quit, and now the new floppy drive will not work.

    Hi kemperhills,

    ·          Is it possible to check if the floppies are still good?

    ·          The diskette was made read-only?

According to this Microsoft article this could happen because the disks are bad:

The Sansa times .mp3, .wma. OGG, FLAC and .wav. It cannot decode m4a or mpeg-4.

Are downloads of iTunes? Apple doesn't want read you elsewhere on your computer and whatever this dopI little pocket music player they do is called?   M4a and .aac are owners of Apple formats.

You must extract these files from CDs in mp3, or if you do not have CD you will need to convert m4a to mp3. Download the free media encoder and conversion (transcoding) these files mp4 to mp3 high quality, 192 Kbps or higher. If you use more low-quality mp3 will save you space, but the sound quality will suffer.

And if you use iTunes to rip a CD, you can change the settings (in Edition/Preferences/Advanced/import music, which differs from the advanced visible tab) to mp3 instead of m4a files when rip you.

What now? Is turn off the power, my only option?  What happens if it is not yet recognized after that?

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

From your post, I guess that the configuration of the system now recognizes the hard drive?

If you do not have a floppy drive, then BIOS can find the player who isn't there, it returns this error.

Make sure that the floppy drive [drive A] is disabled in the [BIOS] installation system, page 173, so that it is no longer looking for the disc and see if this stops the error message.

If the hard drive is recognized in the configuration of the system, he now knows in windows "My computer" or in "disk management, [right click on 'My computer' and select 'Manage', then disk management]."
