OT: Safe to remove file?

There is this file called rtr8A14.tmp in my C: drive. I tried searching the Internet on the file, but nothing came. This tmp file takes 1 GB which is huge. Don't know if it can be removed.

Three points:

1. in our day, when a 1 TB drive is on the smallest person buys, and
they cost about USD $50, 1 GB is about a nickel. It's barely
huge if you look at it in terms of monetary value.

2. in the case of a tmp file, it can certainly be deleted. Stands of tmp
for 'temporary' and life expectancy are normally completed when the computer is
then started.

3. If you want to be on the safe side, you can change the file name or move
another file rather than delete it. Wait a week or two, and
If nothing complains that it cannot find the file, delete it then.

  • My laptop recognizes the drive but does show that two files named "My Data Sources" and "Bootsect.

original title: old Hard Drive Access

I have recently had problems with my pc, I decided that I will buy a new Tower, but I really need to get some files off the old hard drive, I bought and pregnant for the SATA drive out of my old pc. I'm now trying to get the files on my old drive through my laptop. The laptop is running Vista. My laptop recognizes the drive but does show that two files named "My Data Sources" and "Bootsect. • My PC is running processes that are labeled as firefox, but I uninstalled and will find no more files named firefox, but pc cleaners say it is running

I tried to clean my laptop and keep noticing the process named firefox and tracks slowed down... that surprises me, because I don't have firefox on this laptop, I maybe once, but no more, I checked the list of uninstaller in the Control Panel, is not here, I searched on the c: drive of files named mozilla or firefox and deleted I can't find more and yet it is always in my process list and also seems to be a memory hog. I use toolwiz as my PC cleaner, he sees things in firefox and tons of data from when do privacy cleaning, yet it gives me the message "cant fix firefox works"... whenever I came across a file, I think that can be connected, it is to me that firefox is running shit and it won't let me delete some things that I think can be the question...

On the process tab of the task to the top manager in the menu bar, click View > select columns and add "Image path name. This will show where the firefox.exe process is launched on the hard drive, and I hope that will point to a specific program. If the location is suspicious (for example, the Temp folder) I would suspect malware. Note: you may need to use the button at the bottom of the tab "show processes from all users".

  • Can I remove empty folders such as MSI1de5d.tmp in C: / drive?

Original title: Tmp files.  What are the empty folders such as MSI1de5d.tmp in C: / drive?  I have @ 75.  Can I delete? by daytripper

MSI1de5d.tmp what are the empty folders like this?  Who and why are they created?

    Hello

Have you done a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

By default the TEMP is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp but MSI (Windows Installer) has always put msixxx.tmp serial % systemroot%\TMP.

MST files are special files that are used to specify parameters or options during a program installation.

Nothing in the Temp folder can be deleted safely once the computer has been restarted.  No matter what is there, all the files created there have been created on a temporary basis.

You can delete the files after restarting the computer.

You can also use Disk Cleanup to delete these files.

  • Error specification of file - keeping resources on a separate drive

    Hello

When you try to import goods to another drive on my system, I get error (-43) about the specification of the file. I use a core of eight Mac Pro that is configured with the HARD drive in Bay 1 with the OS as well as CS4, a library of images and video resources on a separate hard drive Bay 4. Because the disks are both connected via SATA, I have a hard time believing that this is a problem of speed or drive transfer speed. Recommendations as to what I can do to combat it, is beyond all together on a single hard drive?

    Thanks in advance!

    Brian

Thanks for all the details, Brian.  Unfortunately nothing is jumping over quite yet.

Are there other files named Grungy_gray_ # .jpg in this directory?  And if so, AE automatically allows the sequence JPEG check box in the import dialog box when you select this file?  Import of the sequence has an extra layer of logic and potential problems that might complicate it.

Otherwise, it might be something to do with the file or the directory.  Good to know that a version of the file on the Desktop works.  Let us know if the permissions check Mylenium suggested for the original file shows anything.  Otherwise, try perhaps to copy one file at a time level until you can get an import.  (ie., put a copy in the top folder and try to import.)  If that fails, put a copy in the file Grungy_Textures and try to import.  etc.)  This may indicate a problem in the name/length of the path (which I doubt) or a specific folder with problems.

Also, the problem occurs only in your existing project, or a new project has it as well?  I suspect the latter, but is worth a visit

1 n ° put them on a regular external drive and the value of Time Machine to back up as well; the files you want to keep should be at least two disks in case one of them goes down.

    2. they will not be usable until the restoration.

If a connection item is dimmed and cannot be deleted, click on the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and enter your login password when you are prompted. Then try again.

To avoid confusion, please note that checking or unchecking the box next to a point of idle connection not she. You must remove the item from the list.

Which folder or file not hibernation process store open files or programs on the hard drive?

    Hello

The Hiberfil.sys hidden system file is located in the folder root of the drive where the operating system is installed. The Windows Kernel Power Manager reserves this file when you install Windows. The size of this file is approximately equal to the amount of memory (RAM) is installed on the computer.

I am trying to copy some files from my drive HARD outside., but I get this error (error 0x8007045D: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error).

I run windows check disk on my external hard drive, I tried to run windows defrag, but it takes too Lowe and cancel (external HARD disk is 1 TB). I download a software defrag and defragmented my hard drive using fast (the software is O & O Defrag). I tried on another computer and got the same error. Is it a hardware problem. Y at - there any possibility to fix it. Thank you for helping

    Hello Nyfixen,

    1. have you changed the permission for the external hard drive or files you are trying to copy?

    2. you have all important data (files) stored on the external hard drive?

    3. are you able to copy the external hard drive to the computer?

The Autorun.inf could not be a problem for that. It always seems to be a problem of permission for me. Some hard drives have a jumper on them for write protection. You should check the configuration of jumpers, thank you consult the manual that came with the hard drive for permissions.

  • Cannot copy files in Vista to a flash drive

I am running Vista on a Dell Inspiron 530 and have tried to prepare my pc for installation of Windows 7.  I looked at other threads on this forum with similar problems, but have not found all of this sounds similar to my situation.  I tried to copy files such as my work Lotus document, Favorites files and picture files on a 32 GB Sandisk flash drive to save them before making the migration to 7.

First of all, I had set up and files on the flash drive and then copied the data from drive C by using the copy and paste commands.  A strange thing happened when I pasted the images and the Favorites in the files of the flash player that I had put in place for these data was that the system insisted on the creation of its own files for these two files even if I paste in the files that I install.  I had the time that deleting the folder empty two I had the installer and then rename the files that the system had created.  When I had finished I posted the content of each of these files and they all contained what I expected to see.  Then, I closed the window and going on to something else.  Later I returned a new is to look at these files, I had created on the drive flash and discovered that they were not there.  With the exception of two small files that included Sandisk on the disc, it was empty.

I might add that one of the reasons why I have do this upgrade is because Vista goes into a 'blocking' occasionally, and forcing me to delete a running via the Task Manager program, or if a system reboot.  The system restore feature is disabled.  I am the only user of this system and it is not on a network.

I would appreciate help to solve this problem.  Thank you

    You are quite welcome.
