FileVault2

I have a small question about FileVault.  I have a Mac under El Capitan.  It has a SSD (currently the startup disk) and a HARD drive (for my documents and media).  Both are internal discs.  If I turn on FileVault, it will encrypt the DSS, as well as the HARD drive?  The documentation I've seen, he crypt just the only startup disk.  Is this correct or it allow you to choose?

Thank you...

I have my boot drive (one on a MacBook Air) and an external hard drive that is encrypted using FileVault. It was a two-step process - after that I encrypted the internal drive I encrypted then externally.

  • Filevault2 allows an unauthorized user to log

My Macbook Air (early 2015) has active Filevault. I am the only user of this machine.  At the time, I put in place the FV, I nominated several users who have been authorized to unlock. and note the FV recovery key.

At the time, one of the users has been Admin; I later changed it to a Standard account.  It was my main ACCT to work. After the ACTC has started having probs (though not immeddiately after the account type change) which seems to be specific in itself, I created a second account.  Call them Smith and Smith2, respectively.

I did Smith2 and a Standard acct also gave it the same password: Smith.  Smith2 has not added to the users allowed to unlockk the Mac because I don't know how to do this pr wheter this can be done at all.  My plan was to transfer Smith to Smith2.  I had not thought about Filevault until today.

I just realized that Smith2, a user not allowed to unlock the Mac, can simply connect as if encryption has not been enabled.  I was wondering if it might be because the password was allowed to FV, I changed the password of Smith2.  Made no difference.

Under the Security tab of the SysPrefs, he says that Filevault is turned on.  Today, working in recovery mode (in utility disk on an external drive, when I was ready to restart, I selected the MacHD and that it was necessary to enter a password to unlock it, before it will re-start in MacHD.)  If parts of the operating system behaves as if encryption is enabled.

But for Smith2 to just breeze in full means the encryption does not work!

I can, of course, try disabling encryption and then turn it back on again.  But it's really annoying.  Thought I'd post here for your thoughts - maybe there is a bigger problem that needs to be addressed?

MacBook Air (early 2015), Yosemite 10.10.5 kept up to date.

I would like to get this straight: Smith2 may not unlock FV, but can login and access Mac directly after a reboot (without all the other accounts connected)?

  • The apple logo appears after login and suddenly return. Is this normal?

    The flow rate is:

    1. connection of the screen and choose user login
    2. Enter the password and press the arrow to open a session
    3. under the password field progress bar
    4. abrupt jump page logo apple with progress bar
    5. the successful connection and jumping suddenly seems to normal desktop page

Is it normal to see the screen of the logo apple here, because previous OSX login did not have it and the connection process is faster.

    Hi Tommy,.

You have 2 FileVault enabled on your machine to encrypt your drive? If so, which is why you see the progress bar after you enter your password.

With FileVault2 enabled the recovery partitition machine to manage the connection at startup then normally starts after the successful login.

I'm running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 and my daughter and her friends used to watch a movie last night and stop it before releasing the film. My Mac Book Pro is the start of the password reset screen/mode? It gives me only 3 options, none of which is true. (1) I forgot my password. (2) my password does not work when you connect 3) my keyboard does not work when you type my password to connect? When I opened the Apple on lft albums he gives me a boot disc, restart and turn off? I tried all the options and it restarts just on the same page? Someone at - it advice? Thanks in advance!

The appearance of the password reset screen indicates FileVault2 is enabled on your MBP. Fix?

If so, that'll probably get you out this Pickle: https://derflounder.wordpress.com/2015/01/17/yosemites-filevault-2-pre-boot-reco very-options /

    Should which driver I uninstall?

On OSX, if the following Terminal command produces any output, then you cannot read partition OSX on the side Windows? FileVault2 will also disable access to the OSX partition.

  • BootCamp Windows does not start after you have enabled disk encryption

Hello everyone, I am in a desperate situation and I need your help. Here is my sitatuaion.

I have 13-inch MacBook Pro (early 2011). I put an SSD inside as my main drive and I also put an extra drive (HDD) in the optibay instead of my drive superdrive. The structure, I had was this:

    (1) my entire SSD was my OS X disk.

2 my HDD optibay had three partitions: partition backup Time Machine, a) b) Extra partition (for stuff like media), c) Windows partition with Windows 7 installed.

Had that Setup for a long time and everything worked very well, my SSD has been saved on the Time Machine partition on the HARD drive in my optibay.

Then, I decided to turn on the File Vault 2. First of all I did for the SSD with my OS X on it. Everything went well and I could always start my Windows 7. Then, I decided to encrypt my Time Machine backup (because what's the point to encrypt the main system disk if you do not encrypt the backup as well?) -Here too everything went well.

In other words, until I needed to start Windows. I have restarted my Mac, hold down option, the picker contraption came, but there was no windows to the choice. I came once before (but), so I knew I could always start in it.

I jumped into my USB thumbdrive with fairing on it, he chose and he gave my start on the Windows partition option. But this time it did not work, I got an error message saying my there is no bootable device or something like that.

I have confidence in turning the things of encryption for the partition of Time Machine (which is on the same HDD as my Windows partition) screwed disc here.

The only question is: can I fix, start Windows, without having to install it from scratch? What I want is to have encryption enabled for both drive my main SSD where I have my OS X installed AND the partition of Time Machine that is on the disk in the optibay HARD and also have a Windows partition on it, but still be able to start Windows.

I am running 10.11.13 El Capitan.

Can you help me somehow? Here is my list of cs diskutil:

Your problem is not related to FileVault2. Your question should have begun when additional Apple_HFS was created. Please after the release of

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk1

If you have a problem with your Mac, you can potentially lose the SSD and backup TM. It is not an optimal configuration. A TM must be physically separated from your Mac, so you can restore the TM backup to a new Mac, if necessary.

Also, since you removed the optical drive, re - install Windows on your 2011 model is a very rough road to travel.

  • Turn to the bottom of the screen, open again: charging needed and long user ID!

I'm working on a MacBookPro. When I close the TI (closing of the screen) - even just for a few minutes - and re - open, I always type in my user ID, and it takes a long time to reload and be willing to work on it again. It is very frustrating and time consuming. What can I do about it?

What caused this to happen? Is the software update, I installed?

Use OS X Version 10.10.5, Yosemite

System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General

Make sure that "Password required after sleep" option is not selected.

If fileVault2 is enabled, you may need to temporarily disable.
