  Oil paint has been removed in 2014 of Photoshop. You can download Photoshop CC (previous version) or CS6, and use the oil paint filter. You can have both versions of Photoshop on your computer.

  Please make sure that your system meets the following requirements to run the oil paint filter:

  • 1024 x 768 display (1280 x 800 recommended) with 16-bit and 512 MB of VRAM colors (1 GB or more of VRAM is recommended)
  • To use the acceleration OpenGL, your system must support OpenGL 2.0 and Shader Model 3.0 or later version
  • To use the OpenCL acceleration, your system should support OpenCL 1.1 or later

  If your system meets the conditions set out above, then follow the steps below:

  • Choose Edition > Preferences > Performance (Windows) or Photoshop > preferences > Performance (Mac OS).

  • In the results panel, make sure that the graphics processor use is selected in the settings section of the graphics processor.
  • Click Advanced settings and specify the following options: make sure open CL must be verified.

  Painting with oil filter is included with the current CC in Photoshop I have CS5 but I can't seem to find the plugin for Benders pixel and you may need to purchase the CC version

  I just bought a membership to CC 2014 and have a beautiful portrait that I would try a paint filter oil. I see that there is no oil filter in Photoshop CC. I have seen tutorials online that have a filter of oil paint, but which must be Photoshop CS6 or 5. Do anyone know where I can find a tutorial on how to do it in Photoshop or I will have to buy a special program for this purpose. Thank you.

  Last filter appeared in CS6 oil painting, but has been removed b/c Pixel Bender (which she was built on) has caused a lot of problems in CC.  While I have not used it myself, I understand that a good replacement plugin.

  However if you want to use it, you need to install PS CC

  Which has been removed in 2014 from PS. You can reinstall PS CC and replace the filter. You can have two PS versions installed on your computer.

  Hello, can someone help me to explain why the oil paint filter is always gray in my version of photoshop CC 2015 update.  I tried to update several times to see of it will appear after update and restarted my pc but it still isn't available.  It says I have the latest version.

  Don't forget that opencl is checked. If it is grayed out and you can't, something in your card is less than the needs.

  You uncheck help > OpenCL leInfosection system that OpenCL meet the minimum specs for the oil painting.
