Fingerprint - Envy m6 reader

I've been using the fingerprint reader hp craving m6 it since I got my laptop.  All of a sudden it has stopped working.  How can I solve this problem?

Patrice,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Try this first:

  • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
  • Unplug everything (little unifying for the keyboard / mouse external can stay)
  • Perform the Hard Reset for your laptop
  • Start the computer and connect

This type of "reset" does not affect your data, programs or settings on the computer.  It is just a reset 'own and go' to clear the cobwebs.

Click on the thumbs-up Bravo !

It's a nice way of saying 'Thank you' for help.

While I strive to reflect best practices of HP, I do not work for HP.

The "Scan my PC" program may not work for you, no, I do not know exactly why; Suffice it to say if the program does not scan your PC to find your drivers / support page, you can perform the operation manually, that is, access your computer Support pages.

    A few ideas

There is not a Windows 10 associates BIOS update for your laptop.  I doubt, there is nothing to change (in BIOS), except if you need get the BIOS to default because it has been changed at some point.

In some weird cases, BIOMETRICS must be enabled in Windows 10; It is primarily a problem unless something hinky, AND you run Windows 10 Pro.  The document below covers a little of this - ignore the idea for now.

There is not a Windows Validity Sensor 10 / fingerprints Synaptics driver.  The listed pilot is evaluated for Windows 8.1 and should suffice or Windows 10.

Out of the hibernation of the fingerprint reader does not recognise my fingerprint at the level of the BIOS to unlock the system password and hard drive or at the level of Windows to connect on my Win 7 Pro account. Works very well on a cold start or restart. Suggestions?

Make sure that the check box is unchecked and see if it works ok after put into hibernation. Just a guess, but it's worth it. I hope this helps.

  • How can I disable the fingerprint to signin reader?

When I loaded the first Microsoft Windows 7, it seems to me do not give any the choice to have a password (or digital fingerprint) needed to connect.  I normally wouldn't use restrictions of access, but thought "oh what the devil?") and segt by th fingerprint scanner.  For more than a year that it worked pretty well, but in the end, either my fingerprint has changed (!) or the drive fell into a sort of disrepair.  In any case, I want my listing, as eliminate it and the password requirement.  But I can't find any way to do it.

    HELP, please!

Disable the fingerprint reader in Device Manager.  BUT make sure first that the password works and you know what it is.  Otherwise you lock you up.

  • Fingerprint in linux reader support?

    Hey delichty,

Ubuntu is not an operating system that is supported by this platform, so there is no guarantee that all features work as they do in Windows. I have seen users who have had problems getting the keys to touch, fingerprint readers and graphic drivers working properly due to lack of drivers - official, so you can be yourself.

Fortunately, Ubuntu website has a lot of information, you may be able to do some research it and see that their hardware compatibility lists to understand what will be / will not work.

  • PC laptop Envy 17: Envy 17 laptop PC fingerprint reader works only after the start

The fingerprint on my Envy 17 reader reads only a fingerprint the first time that I connect once the system is booted (after shutdown or restart). From time to time, it will read once the system is locked, but that is extremely rare. I put the system in place using my MSN account and also configured SimplePass with default settings. SimplePass version is 8.00.57.

I looked on several other issues in the forum and did not find something like this. Other issues reported when related to player doesn't work do not, for example. I found a few link in some messages describing such tasks that go back to a previous version of SimplePass.

I don't know if it is related to my problem or not, but I noticed that the drive light sometimes flashes a sequence once the system is running. It seems that when the light flashes, it will not be read. It stops flashing when I placed my finger on the reader. (I think that the typical sequence is 3 flashes, pause, 1 flash. This cycle repeats.) This isn't always for that well, and I have found no correlation between the flashes and the measures taken after the initial logon.

I made the fingerprint reader driver, rather than later.

I uninstalled SimplePass (after update to the last with no luck) and the drive works fine now. I use RoboForm for my password management and it supports using the fingerprint so I'm covered there. I guess it should be renamed "SimplyNoPass."

  • HP Probook s 4540: fingerprint reader does not

    Hello

Problem: fingerprint - Windows journal reader under does not have the ability to connect via the fingerprint reader.

Overview: after installing the drivers of the fingerprint on the HP site and thanks to the HP protection tools to register successfully to fingerprints, I tried to log in via this method, but the Windows Connect screen does not display this option. Device Manager correctly identifies and shows the fingerprint sensor - however, the Control Panel does no detection of biometric devices.

I really need help with this problem. Details of what steps I took trying to make the scanner work are given below.

    Specs:

    1) 4540 probook s

    (2) Windows 7 64 bit

    (3) i5 - 3210 m, 1 GB Hd 7650 m, 4 GB at 1333 Mhz, 750 GB 5400 RPM, VFS 491 fingerprint reader.

Details of the problem and the steps of my work to install the drivers:

After a new installation of Windows 7, I went on the site of HP driver to download the latest drivers for Probook s 4540:

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5229457&...

I installed the drivers in roughly in this order:

    drivers ethernet controller 1) realtek.

    drivers audio 2),

    (3) the chipset and USB 3.0 drivers (but not the Intel MEI driver)

    (4) Intel video driver: a problem such that the pilots were not allowed to install. After you disable switchable graphics in the bios, I was able to get these drivers to install.

    (5) AMD video drivers: installed after graphic driver intel HD - installed but Catalyst Control Center was not displayed. Then I reactivated switchable graphics in the BIOS, re-installed these drivers and CCC was now available.

    (6) support for HP keyboard shortcut

    (7) HP Universal camera driver

    (8) fingerprint sensor fingerprint validity

    (9) Synaptics Touchpad driver

    (10) Atheros wifi & bluetooth

    (11) Jmicron card reader

After driver installation, I installed the HP protection tools. According to request a reboot of the PC, which I did-, he asked for the setting up security etc... Part of this pocess was the registration of fingerprints - successful. However, log off / restart of windows, an option to connect with the fingerprint reader does not appear in the Windows login screen.

I open the control panel and found there wasn't that no biometric device only tab, even if the Device Manager showed biometric sensor, device and validity (VFS 491). I then uninstall HP protect tools and driver validity sensor fingerprint, and made sure that these services are running:

    -Credential Manager

    -Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

    DCOM Server process Launcher-

    RPC end point mapper-

    -Windows Biometric Service

    Plug-and-Play

Then as suggested in another post on the forum, I installed first of all this:http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe , then the drivers of the validity of 4540 s drivers page, then HP protection tools.

After the reboot HP protect tools as before to register my fingerprints, but still no windows login prompt came to connect with fingerprints. However, a change after installtion of http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe that has been in Control Panel it is now a tab for biometric devices. However, it is said that windows did not find it all installed biometric devices. A picture is attached showing the Device Manager and Control Panel!

Please HP offer a solution. Thank you!

OK problem solved. I don't know if it is related to the HP windows 7 system essential updates driver installation and Intel MEI or not - but I install these.

What has really worked probably was it - > install the drivers of fingerprint and then the HP protection tools. Once rebooted, open HP tools protect, then return to the administration in the lower right corner-> the administration Console-> increase of security system-> tick windows login security and your done. Now, you will be able to connect through fingerprints registered.

  • T410 - reader of fingerprints and TouchPad failure after closing lid

    Hello world
    I have a ThinkPad T410 Intel Core i7 M620 2.67 GHz, 250 GB HDD, 4 GB of RAM, NVIDIA 3100, Windows 7

There are two problems with it:
Number 1: After waking up from sleep mode the fingerprint reader does not work. Type of manual password is required.
, 2nd edition: At a random time the TouchPad would stop working.

Question No. 1 is extremely annoying. That happen every time, but often enough to be very bored.
There are different scenarios that I can describe:
Scenario 1:     Closing the lid makes the laptop to go to sleep. Opening the lid makes the laptop turn on the screen, but there is a login prompt. At this point the reader to Finerprint is not active more and manual entry of the password is required.

Scenario 2:     Closing the lid makes the laptop to go to sleep. Opening the cover does nothing. The Green LED on the fingerprint reader is on. Slide the fingerprint reader turns on the laptop. Login screen is displayed and manual password entry is required. Fingerprint reader is not available at this stage.
Scenario 3: by pressing function + sleep makes the laptop to go to sleep. The Green LED on the fingerprint reader is on. Slide the fingerprint reader turns on the laptop. Login screen is displayed and manual password entry is required. Fingerprint reader is not available at this stage.

After each scenario I would like to connect manually, and the Fingerprint reader does not work with Password Vault, giving a message that it is not present in the system. After waiting for a while (maybe 15 minutes), the fingerprint reader starts working again.

At the same time, I had a problem with the TouchPad will not work at a random time.
He would just stop working from time to time and not work until a reboot of the system.

I used my super cool NextDay on site warranty (I'm so glad I paid the amount extra - the service is great) to have a guy to come and difficulty a faulty speaker. At the same time, he had inspected the problem of fingerprints. He said that the fingerprint reader and Touchpad are connected to the motherboard by a cable and that it is perhaps the origin of the problem. It came the next day to replace the Touchpad and fingerprints of the reader of the cover of laptop part (all the plastic around the keyboard that you put your wrists on). However, it did not replace the cable that connects the two devices to the motherboard (he said that those who are almost never defective)

After that I have not once experienced the freezing problem Touchpad. (so far... for 4 days now)
Fingerprint reader problem has not changed at all. It happens with the same frequency as before the repair.

I got my system to factory state using the recovery media made the 1st day following purchase. It doesn't change anything.

If anyone else has experienced this problem and has a solution, please let me know.
Referring to another forum or topic is also welcome. If I find a solution I'll post it as well.

    Thank you

AFTER several months of pain, I found a solution to this problem:

I got rid of this problem by reformatting everything using the original recovery disks.

I tried this action before, but this time it worked.

A friend told me that his laptop computer from a different company had a similar problem and found after hours of searching the sequence in which the drivers have been installed on its system had an effect ON the system.

I'm not saying that this is the case here, but maybe something ' just clicked on '...

No problem with my FingerprintReader more. I did this action 2-3 weeks ago and I got not a single occurrence of the FingerprintReader error.

    Good luck to all.

  • Dell Studio 1737 Webcam and fingerprint reader

I recently bought a refurbished Dell Studio 1737 and its big, but it did not come with thewebcam or fingerprint software installed and no disk, so, although I have

installed the latest drivers, they cannot run as there is no software. I managed to find and download Dell WebCam Manager, but then I installed the

pilots, he said that there is no device detected. I can not even find the fingerprint reader software, I understand his Digitalpersona called, but I had no record of such or

software with my laptop. Can anyone help? Thank you

    Hi GSNYDER70,

I have a Dell Studio 1737 and I changed the original Palm with another fingerprint reader without a provided, naturally original Dell. When I downloaded the driver Dell Web site package that I surprised... There are only drivers, but not the software! The original software provided with the computer laptop Studio 1737 is Digital Persona of Digital Persona Inc. I asked a question to Dell technical support, but no response because I am out of warranty. On the site Web of Digital Persona, I found a software that can work with the fingerprint Authentec AES2810 reader model but you have to pay for it. Quality on the web I found another user of Dell which solved the problem: you can download the Digital Persona version 4.10.3790 of the HP Web site software! Here is the link:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/softwareDownloadIndex?CC=IT&destPage=softwareDownloadIndex&LC=IT&softwareitem=ob-82207-1&tmp_docname=

I installed it and now have the fingerprint reader work perfectly. If you have any further questions please ask me. Best regards.

  • Zbook 15 G2: Zbook 15 G2 - which required software for the connection of fingerprints on Windows 7-64 bit (company)

The problem is quite simple, but the answer seems to be quite elusive.

I have a new Zbook 15 G2.  It is a work laptop and they apply a standard image using Windows 7 Enterprise.  Unfortunately, it does not all support for the fingerprint readers by default.  I have admin access so I am allowed to load the appropriate drivers/software

But I can't seem to find the correct drivers.  When I search by serial number I get the driver of fingerprints of validity, but it doesn't seem to be a specific software for the use of the connection for Windows 7.  I had several years ago, under the old HP of ProtectTools.  Now, I also see references to Client Security Manager and SimplePass (the latter being the most recent according to a table).  I installed SimplePass but he doesn't seem to see the fingerprint reader (or it is not optional).  Device Manager shows the fingerprint under Biomentrics reader and shows it works normally.

Can someone clarify the situation exactly WHAT must be loaded on the assumption of a new installation of Windows 7?  I can take it from there I think, but without a list looks a bit like a crap-shoot to get the right software installed in order to support.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jerry

    Hello:

It has always been my experience that workstations and laptops professional use security software to protect the tools which has now been replaced by the customer Security Manager software on the newer models like yours.

Consumer class specifications use the security software simple past.

So, if you have installed the validity fingerprint driver, my recommendation would be to install the last client security manager software to register your fingerprint.
