Firefox does not not last session tabs + cant unpin tab.

I found a solution that other people might find useful:

Short version: do a check disk to fix the error - requires a reboot for disk be fixed if the profile is on your windows partition.

Long version:
It is a corruption of the disk which, for some obscure reason, replaced continuous file sessionstore with a corrupted version timed and dated at the time where it had been crashed Firefox.

The fix was to go to "my computer"-> right click-> the reader with the profile on Tools tab-> [check now]

Make sure that [automatically fix and error file system] is checked
Click [start]
Click [force dismount]
Click on [annex an audit]

  • Restart computer *.

Allow the disk check to correct the error.

Fixed (if not then close firefox, delete the sessionstore.js in the profile folder, then restart firefox).

Hi Kvoter,
Thanks for posting that! If you are looking to answer more questions, you can consult our how to contribute page by contributing leOutilsmenu of this Web site.

Thanks again, and I'll try that next time I see a session restore file corrupted!

    Options I've seen suggested:

    Yes.

  • Firefox does not open old tabs

My computer crashed last night and on restart of firefox, it goes to a new page without any of the old tabs. Passing under story has all the options for restore recently closed shaded windows.

I confirm that it is set under preferences to open previous tabs on firefox startup.

I had the sessionstore.js file get corrupted before. Research in the profile folder, showed the sessionstore.js to a 1 k file. So my first instinct was to restore this file, simply and thankfully, there is a file sessionstore.bak with an end PM last time, so this file should still have my last session.

I made a copy of the sessionstore.bak file and rename it to sessionstore.js, but firefox opens with a new session. I had the windows Explorer (File Manager, for example) open and as firefox was starting, the sessionstore.js got put in a 1 k file suggesting that firefox is the compensation the last session on opening. I tried to restore sessionstore.js to sessionstore.bak once and sessionstore.js read-only, but firefox still will not return to the previous browsing session; Instead, it creates a new file called sessionstore.js.tmp.

I'm at a loss as to how to get back my old browsing session. I always use firefox V28.0. I don't have not upgraded to V29 because of not wanting to lose the ability to export the tabs as shown in the comments of the android version of V29. Operating system is Win 7 SP1.

The sessionstore.js file is a JSON object, and I think that there are tools developer for syntax checking and perhaps repair. However, recent research has led me to pages that were a bit over my head.

Lack of a tool that supports JavaScript, my next step would be Microsoft Word, simply because I do a lot of complex find/replace in Word and I'm sure that I could extract the URL like this.

  • After an automatic update of Windows and stop, Firefox does not remember my tabs open at startup. Better Privacy does interfere with Crash Recovery somehow?

Better Privacy does interfere with Crash Recovery somehow? My computer is automatically installed a Windows Update at 03:00 and switch off. When I started out, I had to restart Firefox. Firefox came without any of the tabs that were open when the PC went to bed the previous night. I spent an hour looking for what happened to my tabs, without success.

    Hello.

It is possible that it was by force the windows closed so your firefox which makes you forget... Have you tried to crash your Firefox to see if the session is not restored?

To plant your Firefox, simply there open, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC and then, on the process tab in the window that appears, complete the process firefox.exe. That will force Firefox to close at this moment. Do start again. If it works, ok, so it may have been a case isolate. My recommendation is to configure your windows does not install updates without your intervention. Choose something like 'ask me what to do' or something like that.

  • Firefox does not recognize groups tab when it starts after a crash.

I am running 29.0.1 on Win 7/64 - laptop HP dv9843cl with 4 GB of RAM (the max that puppy will support). I use TabGroupsMgr (which I love) with about 100 pills spread over 5 or 6 groups and periodically FF delivers a message that it is running out of memory (entirely reasonable). After the third time I get the message, I stop FF and after a minute or two, I start it upward, choose to restore the previous session. It comes up with a tab in a tabgroup and an another tabgroup with all the rest inside tabs. She does every time at startup. If I can do SessionManager/tools/BackupSessions and select the previous browsing Session, it restores the program perfectly with all the groups tab and the tabs to its seats in the right-wing groups. Weird, Yes?

    Looooove Firefox...

Without Tab Mix Plus, all TabGroups loading properly with the restoration of the previous Session. Thus, Tab Mix Plus is the culprit. Thank you for pushing me to the root of the problem...

I have since warned the author of Tab Mix Plus, asking him to check it out...

    Thank you again...

  • Even if the setting is correct, Firefox does not windows and tabs from last time at the reopening?

I have the habit of keeping three firefox windows open at the same time and I've always defined (under the general tab) ' display windows and tabs from last time '. It has stopped working. The setting is the same, but when I close and then reopen firefox, it opens the window only, not the three Windows I closed.

It has already set to reopen tabs, and I have not erased from history. He left the reopening correctly this morning after I let him "verify" a signature on the Toastmasters International website downloading a form of voucher. I am running 8.0.1. He froze and crashed after that I have is allowed only. I have just discovered that I can reopen the tabs by clicking on "restore closed window" and the session I wanted. However the window of before the crash has lost, which means I had to rebuild my list of tabs. Recently closed tabs is grayed out.

  • Firefox does not save the tabs after the upgrade of Microsoft Silverlight.

A Web site that I visited recently demanded that I update to the latest version of Silverlight. I did it, and Firefox said it had to be restarted. When I restarted Firefox, even if she asked me to save my tabs this initial reboot, my tabs have not been saved. Now, every time I close Firefox, the warning that I am about to close x number of tabs appears, and there is no option to save my tabs. Clearly, the Silverlight upgrade has been the cause of this error, but how to re - activate the option to save the tabs?

You can check the startup parameter:

Tools > Options > general > startup: startup of Firefox:

Show my windows and tabs from last time

    Show my home page

Hi jkbfox, there is currently an increase in these reports and the soruce seem to be sites that have embedded content for the flash plugin. Firefox developers are looking at this issue and investigate a fix.

  • 26 of Firefox does not load the home page. Instead, it loads the previous session (and that includes all tabs). It does not matter how Firefox is closed.

26 of Firefox does not load the home page. Instead, it load the previous session, regardless of what has been entered in 'Options '. The browser runs in Win 7.0 64 bit; Norton Internet Suite 21 provides security features. There are some solutions 'cloud', also running as Google Drive, box, Skydrive and Cubby. The browser behaves in the same way in all my machines (installation and the OS is similar to that described above) and no amount of reset 'Options' seems to affect it. Nor is it affected by the way that Firefox is closed. This is obviously a bug that should be fixed.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
  • Firefox does not start on the home page. She begins the last tabs always open

I confirmed my options are set to open Google as my homepage, but after the restart, Firefox opens to the last open tab in place. A previous, now archived, thread shared this response: try to open the user.js file. For me, it was only a single line, which was user_pref ("browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once", true);. Once I deleted the file, everything is back to normal. However, I can't understand where that file user.js is and I tried to look for it, nothing helps. Help is appreciated. Thank you.

The subject: config, make sure to separate words and config with a colon (:) whereas Firefox recognizes as a page internal.

After the release of Firefox, make sure it comes out completely? To do this, please see the the Windows Task Manager, which you can open by using Ctrl + SHIFT + ESC.

    • The Applications tab should display all open windows, which likely will be closed. If the tab displays a Firefox window that you cannot access, could be "off screen".
    • The processes tab will initially list firefox.exe, which should gradually free up memory and eventually disappear (for me, the time to do varies according to how long Firefox was running and the amount of memory that he used).

I don't know what you mean by restoring to an earlier version. I wouldn't use Windows System Restore feature to do this, as it might wipe out these latest bookmarks, etc.. If you want to experiment with different versions of Firefox, see this article for download and use clean reinstall procedure: install an older version of Firefox.

  • Sessionrestore occasionally does not show my tabs as they were when I closed Firefox, but as they were some time before I closed it.

Sometimes Sessionrestore does not show my tabs as they were when I closed Firefox, but as they were some seemingly random (but persistent if retry) point between the beginning and the end of my last session. Sometimes, they are exactly as they were when I started my last session. I am currently using Firefox 5, but the problem was already present when I always used 4. It is perhaps also relevant that I tend to have a lot of windows and tabs open, sometimes to the point of crashing Firefox.

It is possible that one of the extensions is the cause, but that can be difficult to diagnose if you can reproduce or force it to happen.

  • My firefox does not start with my multiple tabs even if I do options properly for this. Why?
