Try disabling your antivirus temporarily to see if that makes the installation of Firefox work.
You may need to download it again from the server of Mozilla Firefox.

You can also remove active - update.xml, or even updates.xml (stores the history of update).- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Update works not properly)

When I move the mouse over the icon in the taskbar that appears after that I have I dbl-clicked on the icon on the desktop, you can see a miniature version of the browser open as usual, unfortunately, the browser will not open upward on the desktop. I've deleted and reinstalled several times. It has worked very well until I did the update last night.
Machine features:
8.1 to win
16 GB of RAM

64 bitSometimes, a window is "off the screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?
A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt.
#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:
Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
- (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
- type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:
- "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
- (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.
Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?
#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:
Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.
Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or the search for the start bar menu (or perhaps 8.x for Windows search of charms bar bar?) type or paste the following and press ENTER to drill down to the profiles folder:
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.
Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.
Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

When I opened (with a button or a bookmark), or if I type in google email URL, google calendar opens on top she almost immediately. This does not happen in other browsers or earlier versions, it is new since installing firefox 3.6.6. I tried to uninstall Add-ons and plug-ins "one" to see if that was the problem, but can see no change in behavior.

I use Firefox for Windows XP Pro service Pack 3 8. I've been using tab groups for some time, but this morning I can't screen the Group tab at all. No error message or another indication of the problem. I leave Firefox and tried to not restart, no help. I rebooted my system and restarted Firefox, no help. I reinstalled Firefox 8, no help. I tried to install Firefox 9.01, no help. Returned to 8, no help. At that point, I stopped to report this issue.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The first time it happened, I reinstalled and it was fine for a week, then the same thing happened. Now when I try to uninstall and reinstall it is the same problem - no page igoogle, no e-mail, web pages don't show pictures or just look weird, and the interface of blog that I use doesn't work at all.
I tried to delete the folders, but the computer would not allow me to do so either. I have Macafee antivirus, norton not
See updated McAfee Security Center and firewall settings to allow access to the Internet Firefox or even try to clear the cache and cookies.

After all the troubleshooting suggestions and also uninstall and reinstall Firefox, it won't always work. First it fades and a "does not" review appeared on the letterhead, with the pointer regarding the timer but nothing did. He was recently working fine for ages and I have not added anything, or deleted, so does not understand why he should stop suddenly work.
I followed all the troubleshooting tips and disabled the plug ins, also removed a lot of the add - ons, did not always work. Then I uninstalled and re-installed.
Now, it will still not open. A window pops up saying: he's fallen down and giving me the opportunity to re - start or leave. If I click on start, it only re - start.
I even started it in SafeMode but which will not open either, it opens for about a minute then just closes.

After the update, firefox does not start. Maybe because I thought that it will re-start the first time I started computer. the instructions have always given this option
Try to download the full version and trash the current installed version to do a cleanup (re) install the latest version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop disk image (dmg)
- Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Basket of the current application of Firefox (for example, open the Applications folder in Finder and drag the Firefox application to the trash) to do a clean install (re) -
- Install the new version you downloaded
Your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re) install Firefox.

Firefox 4 will not open thunderbird for mailto and send links
I use Windows 7 Enterprise.
Since the FF4 update will not open Thunderbird when a mailto link or send the link is clicked. My system has Thunderbird selected as the default e-mail client, and these links work in other browsers.Following some help online suggestions on selection of Firefox's default mail client:
There is no option for 'mailto' or 'mail' in the content type window.
I suffered with this for weeks and finally worked around her.
Thunderbird has been defined as a client by default, but it does not work with some other customers as well, so I went to Default Programs / set program by default, Thunderbird selected, which was already defined as e-mail client by default, selected "Choose defaults for this program" and click Save. That fixed it for PDF Complete, but not for FF4.In FF4, I changed the mailto option always Ask (it was Thunderbird (default)), then selected Thunderbird as client after picking send the link. It worked, so next time I checked the box in the dialog box always use Thunderbird and now it works. Grrr.
