Firefox using too much hard disk space

According to my Panel, mozilla firefox takes 8 GB of my hard drive.

It is a strange question. Firefox should not take more than 70 MB.
My nightly 34.0a1 and Firefox 31.0 raise about 70-79 MB (every night in 79 and 31.0 70)

  • Scratch the disc problems - too much hard disk space?

Now, here's a question for scratch disk problems. My photoshop (7) used to work (on my old computer), now I have re-installed and it says there are windows paging at the same location and I can not open it because "zero disks are full." I know there are a lot of questions like this, but this one is special. I think the problem is that I have 1.5 TB of free disk space, which apparently is too strong and cause problems (?). In any case, I would like to change the location of drive working but I can't open photoshop to do this. Any suggestions?

Basically, is it possible for me to change the scratch disk locations if Photoshop does not even open?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Change the location, do nothing or will reset preferences (sorry Manish Sharma). You really need to physically reduce the partition to be below or around the ceiling of 500 GB. It is inevitable that this is inherent in the old file API of e/s who use these programs. Changing the location of scratch disk would do nothing until the partition of the program is stil great lthat and get the program in a loop. Open your drivemanagemnt using the my computer right click-->--> Manage--> disk management and split the partition or whatever.

  • ESXi 4.0 initial installation 208167 used 80G of hard disk space

    Hello

I'll put up an old HP Proliant DL360 G5 server with two hard drives, managed by the HP Smart Array P400i controller 146SAS.  With RAID 1 + 0, the LogicalDisk is about 136G.  After you have installed the server ESXi 4.0, vSphere client reported that 51G is available for virtual machines.   See attached snapshot.  Back in 2009, on a new DL360 G6 server, I used the same software to ESXi 4.0 and installing used only 2 GB of space.  Which could use the 80G of hard disk space?

I noticed a difference in how vSphere client reported the DTX200:

The DL360 G5, the customer reported the storage as "local disk VMWare..." »

The DL360 G6, the customer reported the storage as "Home HP series SCSI Disk... »

Any idea what happened to the 80G?  Thank you.

    -Jim

If I understand you correctly, there is nothing on the data store yet (i.e. no VMs)? In this case, you can try to remove the data store and recreate to see if it reports the correct size after that.

  • Is there a reason to save the original NEF files after import for the LR in the form of files 'convert to DNG?  Is there a reason to save the two versions?  The NAVE seems to have no further use other than too much hard drive space.

Is there a reason to save the original NEF files after import for the LR in the form of files 'convert to DNG?  Why save versions when the DNG is the original and the NAVE seems to just take remote hard drive space?

I see no reason to keep them, they take a lot of space, one of the reasons to convert to DNG is that they are almost 20% smaller than the ships.

But it is of course your choice...

  • Firefox uses too much RAM

After the update to Firefox 23 I had a lot of problems. The major problem I had is that Firefox uses up to the amount of memory RAM (from 2 GB for less than 5 tabs assets/load) and ends up crashing. After a few tests, I found that when I closed the tabs that about 2 to 3% of what Firefox started using when I opened the tab is unloaded. Using the about command: memory, I discovered that xpcom uses the more this 1 GB RAM passes after awhile of navigation.

a user here reported ghostery as a source for leaking memory - you can keep this option disabled for a while and watch the use of resources...

  • Firefox using too much processor power and memory after that I have closed it

I always clicked on 'X', the red top right of firefox to close. Lately when I do it, my CPU/RAM usage goes up dramatically and ff never really closed, slowing down my whole computer. It's really annoying, and the only way I know to stop it is to complete the process on ff with windows Task Manager. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

If we consider the problem is resolved you can mark it as you please.

However note that Norton Internet Security, by default, is likely to run 'pulse updates' not really a topic to discuss here, except to say that this activity may well continue, depending on your settings with Norton, regardless of whether or not you have the toolbar installed Norton.

I currently have a paid for version of Norton installed.

My understanding is that Norton bar refers to the password management etc for safe research and general connection with the site of Norton.

    • The Norton Toolbar is not compatible with the current beta of firefox 4
    • I don't know if there are other harmful effects on firefox
    • In itself remove the toolbar will not stop Norton software affecting the use of firefox (but this is of course to ensure the safety, I do not pretend you remove, only that you take into account its CPU cost wise)

    Hi Welewis123,

It depends on what you install. For most of the Adobe programs required hard drive storage is minimal and pretty much any computer that meets the system requirements for CC2015 will be adapted. If you want more details, the size of the installed media is listed on this page: Adobe CC 2015 Direct Download Links: Creative Cloud 2015 Release | ProDesignTools. • Why firefox uses so much memory?

For several months, Firefox has eaten memory like crazy. Once I get more than 5 tabs open or that you have Firefox running for more than an hour, the memory usage hit about a GB. If I continue to let go beyond that, it will hit 1.5 to 2 GB and it made my gel set office. I got to keep the Task Manager and every hour or so just kill Firefox and restart. Preventing it from crashing my whole desktop computer. It's definitely worse when I opened Google products, especially maps and Docs. GMail is generally OK.

I tried to disable literally every add-on and Extension (including Flash and Adblock).

I'm on Windows 7, I have 4 GB of RAM installed. I am on version 40.0 Firefox, but this has happened through a few updates now (I think the problem started around March or April). I also tried to back - rev Firefox and go to the latest version, that I had before the problems started, but that did nothing either.

Chrome works fine on this machine without any similar problems - but I prefer Firefox!

  • Why Lightroom uses hard disk space if my catalog is in dropbox?

I am new to Lightroom and love it so far. In addition to some external hard drives backup, I keep all my photos on Dropbox and am currently trying to build my library in Lightroom by importing my photos. Because I'll be editing my photos from multiple computers, I decided to move my Lightroom Catalog to Dropbox as well. This way I can continue to ensure coherence between several machines in my library.

My question, however, is that whenever I have import photos, I seem to be consumes hard disk space on my computer. I'm confused because my photos and catalog are in Dropbox, so this is actually too much space on my hard drive? I just imported approximately 1.63 GB of photos and afterword noticed that 1.46 GB has been written to my hard drive. I know that I am using the correct catalog (also the catalog only I have for Lightroom) because use space has increased after my import on my dropbox catalog file.

I don't know there's a logical reason - as I said, I'm new to Lightroom so always understand the ins and outs. But if someone could help me out here I would appreciate it a lot!

    Thank you

By default copy of Dropbox (and synchronizes forever) all in your remote Dropbox folder on each device that you have connected to your Dropbox account.

1 GB of files in your remote Dropbox folder will also chew up to 1 GB of space on each hard disk attached to the Dropbox account.

The power of the box lies in its timing in order to always have the latest file available on any device connected to your Dropbox account. The compromise is that 5 appliances also each stores its own copy of the same file. Any changes made to any file on any device is synchronized by Dropbox.

You can save space locally by allowing a selective sync in Dropbox and saying Dropbox folders to synchronize and copy it to the local disk and which ignores.

Are you using the selective sync Dropbox?

How to save space on my computer with selective sync? (Dropbox Help Center)

However, I am not convinced that selective sync will give you the workflow that you are trying to reach.

  • Is it normal that Firefox consumes hard disk space open?

Last week, I noticed the following 'strange' behavior of Firefox on my iMac (under Snow Leopard 10.6.8): while I have the browser open (usually on Facebook) my hard drive space appears to reduce (for example, 265,14 GB 265,01 GB). When I close Firefox and restart my computer, the amount of hard disk space increases again. He don't know if that happened in the past or if it's something normal. I have not installed extensions or themes, my plugins are all updated and I do not have a lot of navigation (the FB open Startpage and cat enough). Firefox doesn't seem to have performance problems, but I just want to know if there is a problem and if I could solve it somehow.

Firefox uses more a GB of space on my hard drive regularly (sometimes 2GB). This seems excessive - especially since I put the cache size to 500 MB.

  • AVG says using too much memory because multiple firefox is open, but I only see one.

AVG regularly analyzes in the background. Lately he has demonstrated a popup window that says multiple applications of Firefox are running and using too much memory, so I should close some. But I can only see 1. Tried CTRL ALT DEL to see if I could find the answer, but only showed 1 firefox, and that he used more than 28 000. So I think that AVG is correct, but does not know how to see what who or where they are. They DO NOT display in the lower menu on the main screen, so I guess they are in the background. Do not have the virus, and Firefox, regularly updates itself. What should I do to fix?

    Hi cmich80220.
It is true, that you should only be able to run only one instance of Firefox at the same time. I searched but could not find someone else with a similar problem. If the problem comes back to Firefox running slowly, you can consult this article for troubleshooting:
