Firefox will reset again whenever it closes

When you try to install Firefox, I came across a problem. I use Mavericks on and first MBP 2011 which I just installed a new SSD in.

At the start, he asks if I want to import bookmarks and data. I don't have so I select do not import anything.

Then, it starts and asks me if I want to default browser. I say no.

He then tried to start a round and asks me to enter an account of Firefox. I never needed this on installs of Firefox. I don't want to set up a connection so I Cancel.

Can I use the browser but when I left and re - open the Firefox app symbol goes to another (this part is weird, he turns on my platform bit and is immediately replaced by a new one) and it takes me through the whole process again as if it had never been opened. All bookmarks and extensions that I had loaded in the last session went as well...

I tried to delete the app and resettlement and the same thing happens. I tried to install an older version of Firefox (before login) and it happens then too.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

This could be a problem with the file profiles.ini.

You can use one of them to retrieve an existing profile or create a new default profile for Firefox:

  • Remove the profiles.ini file to make Firefox create a new profile (default)
  • Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
If you have an existing profile, then click on "Choose a folder" in the Profile Manager and navigate to the location of a profile lost to recover this profile
    https://support.Mozilla.org/KB/managing+profiles

You should find the file profiles.ini in this hidden place:

  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
    * C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox /.
  • Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/

If the file profiles.ini compensation does not work then also check the location of the cache files.

  • Windows: * C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
  • Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/
  • Linux:~/.cache/Mozilla/Firefox/

  • Windows Firefox will not close.

    Hello
I am running windows 8.1 and Firefox 38.0.1. whenever I click on the Red 'x' to close Firefox, Firefox will not close. If I want to close all tabs, Firefox does not close the last tab. If I try to merge windows (by dragging the tab of a window in a different window) Firefox will create a blank tab on the window where I dragged the dragged tab. So far, the only way to close the Fire Fox is click on the close button or to stop by the Task Manager. When I re - open Firefox Windows and previous tabs are also there, and I'm still not able to close them. I restarted my PC and reinstalled Firefox (uninstalled and re-download). However, after downloading Firefox... the same windows will be opened, with the same tabs! It's horrible!

    Hello cach_dies,

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • After being opened for a while (with several tabs) Firefox does generally and repeatedly play a sound - video will play again, but not sound.

This problem started happening only recently. I often keep my Firefox open all night with sites like rainymood.com or grooveshark.com playing, as well as several other tabs, including but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit. Sometimes, after a few hours/days to not restart Firefox or my computer, Firefox starts to become insensitive - i.e., pages take a long time to load, opening new tabs is difficult for the browser and videos will have up to 30 seconds to start playing. In addition, the sound stops playing. If I start a YouTube video, after the initial period of excessive load, the video will play, but without any audio. Also, sites such as rainymood.com and grooveshark, even Facebook, stop sound.

Note that this is different from an incident of flash plugin - when flash falls down, the audio and video become inaccessible and a simple refresh or restart of Firefox will solve the problem. But what is happening here is different; If I refresh the tab, nothing changes, and even if I restart Firefox, it opens the same way again until I restart my computer completely.

Also of note: I had, in the past, this same thing happens, but rainymood.com continued to play, however no other tabs would make sound. The problem is sporadic and I don't know where to start. Also, sometimes it's only a problem of Firefox specific, which means other programs on my computer can make sounds, but sometimes this problem makes my computer all stop making sounds, with the exception of Ventrilo, which works, but is also insensitive in the beginning.

I close firefox with X as I close all my applications, but whenever I close I get a pop-up box saying firefox crashed you want to send an accident report and I can type in what has happened. Then I can choose to close firefox and restart it.

First of all, you need to update Firefox 14.0.1. Firefox 3.6 is no longer supported and is exposed to several known security vulnerabilities. This will also probably help your accident when closing. by upgrading, you will have a faster, safer and more stable Firefox that gets actually updated.

Some extensions or toolbars can add such a report.

It can also be part of the code on a page to prevent dataloss if you began to type text (composing a new mail) and you try to close this tab.

You should be able to close this report and close the active tab.

    Hello!

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu

      Click the close button

      ).

    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • I installed seven 2.0.2 appearance but Firefox Add-on restores the value by default whenever I close.

I installed seven 2.0.2 as an add-on to the appearance, but Firefox keeps returning to 11 Firefox by default whenever it closes. Is there a way around this?

I have watched all of the items above and decided that I had no desire to create a new profile. I simply removed the add-on of the appearance of seven 2.0.2 and the problem seems to have disappeared. (Touch wood!)

  • all my tabs pinned AP keep disappears whenever I close Firefox. Please HELP I love this feature!

I have windows 7 on my laptop at home and after the last update of Firefox, all my pinned tabs AP disappeared. I put them all back, but when I left and I reloaded Firefox I lost again.

(Pinned) App tabs and groups of tabs (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data [1] in the sessionstore.js file [2] in the Firefox profile folder.

Make sure that you do not use "Clear recent history" to clear the 'browsing history' when Firefox is closed because who wins and prevent Firefox tabs from the previous session.

It is possible that there is a problem with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js file [2] and files possible sessionstore-# .js [3] with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Delete sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and tab groups and opened and closed the tabs (back) to get lost, so you will need to create them again (take note or bookmarks).
